I'm about ten pages away from the end of part one, so I was really hoping everything would be clicking by now. I mean in temrs of the fact there are a lot of Gods in America, I get that, but the plot still is kind of missing to me. lol

Okay so you know what this book reminds me of? I'm almost done. I have about 50 more pages to go which I plan on reading tomorrow during my lunch break lol but this entire story reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer eats too much of that chili with the hot peppers in it so he goes on this mystical journey where he talks to the coyote. I felt like I was reading this episode lol

I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about the book other than I in no way shape or form ever want to see it turned into a movie! lol

It's such a clever idea but still not sure what the real point is supposed to be. Maybe it all unfolds within the very last pages though. I'm not a huge fan of mythology and was having a hard time remmebering all of these Gods as well. LOL

I finally finished this book. I would love to hear what everyone thought of it. I know Kelly and Julilly have read it and Sinara who hasn't said one word since she started hosting. lol

Personally i'm on the fence with it.

The ocncept was awesome and I found it as a whole really entertaining but I spent too much time WTFing about everything. There were too many characters for me to remember.

My favorite character was Laura. I thought she was awesome for being dead and all. I also enjoyed Czernoebog and some of the townspeople. I can't remember their names but the guy who ended up killing all the kids and the policeman.

I wasn't a big fan of Shadow. I found his character annoying for most of it. lol

I feel a lot the same way, Mare. Over-all I really enjoyed it, but I did get frustrated from time to time with the WTF factor. My favorite character was actually Wednesday because I could never figure him out completely. Even up until the very last battle, I wasn't entirely sure what he was really up to. I thought Shadow was ok, but not on my list of all that memorable characters. Another character I liked was the Mr. Ives guy or whatever his name was. The funeral home guy.

ooh yes, I enjoyed the funeral home guys too. Wednesday was a great character but then again at the end I was all confused about how he was there if he was dead? LOL That's how the whole book was for me. Once I thought I had a grip on everything, something would happen that would make me feel dumb again.

Wednesday's son? I figured it out a while before it actually came up in topic, but I think that's the only time I felt ahead of the game.

Oh, and what'd you think of the lady who eats guys through her vagina? That was near the front of the book and the first real WTF moment. I read that and I was like.... 

Oh! And how about that trippy scene where he's tied to the tree and suddenly he's being escorted through the afterlife by creepy moon lady, and the cat that he once got busy with? Random. And how about being raped by a cat in his sleep in the first place? SO RANDOM.

The vagina lady...that's when I said "Okay...so that's how it's gonna be, huh?" And the best part was she neevr came back! That's one of the things I was bugged about. All of these people we were introduced to I thought would come back but most of them never did.

I figured out Wednesday and Shadow's relationship once he started talking about never knowing his dad. I didn't feel ahead of things though. The only time I felt ahead of the game was when I figured out Hinzleman was a God and was killing all the girls. I kind of got that right away. I thought that the policeman was also one though and I was wrong about that.

That tree scene was the one that was very Simpsons-esque. It was odd from start to finish and I had a hard time visualizing the whole thing. Which might be a good thing lol

That whole cat thing was random and disturbing and once again never resolved! LOL

I also loved some of the Coming to America parts. I think those were my favorite parts of the book, but most of those guys never showed up ever which made us learning about them kind of stupid and pointless.

Wasn't vagina lady the one that got run over by the limo in the hollywood hills?  But yeah, I was waiting for her (and others) to come back and play a significant role too, but they didn't.

I don't know, maybe? That's the problem did we even find out her name? I think Vishnu was run over but was that the same one? LOL Confusing!

Well at least we know that if they ever make a move if this, Paris will have a part!

Yeah I was on to Hinzleman and killing the girls pretty early too. I even had it figured out that they were in the car on the ice pretty early on.


I liked the Coming to America stories too. But I think my favorite scene was actually the bank robbery where Shadow made it snow. But again, that subplot of Shadow being able to tap into the magic was never really used either.

I didn't even think about the cars. In fact even up until the time he was going to the car I didn't get why he was doing what he was doing lol I was slow on that one.

I did enjoy the fact that the whole battle was just a big con game. I thought that was clever. You would think with them being gods and all they would have figured that out beforehand!
