Fic Talk > Felix Awards 2009
Felix Award for Best Suspense or Thriller (9)
Chaos:
Tony: Who do we want to talk to next?
Tim: How about Mare?
Tony *grins*: Good choice, Probie. I'll go invite her--
Ziva: Now is not the time. She is up for the next award I believe.
Tim: Good po--hey! Do you guys hear that?
Ziva: Someone is down that hallway!
*Tony draws his weapon and begins running toward the sound, Ziva and Tim close on his heals.*
They round the corner just in time to see a masked individual carrying a sack full of what appear to be envelopes disappear around the corner at the far end of the hall. Again they follow after and round the corner--where they discover the abandoned sack; with what appears to be a bomb securely attached to it; there is less than a minute left on the timer.
Tony: You two get back! I'll try to disarm it!
Tim: I think I have a better chance of--
Tony: I'm faster than you if we have to run for it.
*The seconds tick down quickly as Tim tries to talk Tony through the disarming. Sweat appears on each of their brows as the countdown approaches "Zero"
*Onstage*
Shawn: And the Felix for Best Suspense or Thriller goes to:
With runner up:
Mare: I don't know what to say. I'm very surprised this story won. Thanks so much for the nomination and to everyone who read it and gave me feedback. I wanted to give up on this one. In fact, it was almost the first story I have ever thought of discontinuing. Now i'm kind of glad I didn't.
Kevin: So are we! Do you think we like it when you leave us stuck at gunpoint?
Nick: Yeah!
AJ (sarcastically): You tell her, Nick...
Nick: Oh! And stop torturing me!
*Back in the hall*
Ziva: Five more seconds, Tony!
*Tony curses under his breath as he turns to flee, diving at the last moment before the bomb goes off*
*There's a small *pop* sound, and the 3 agents look up from their duck-and-cover positions to see that there is now a tiny little fire quickly burning through the envelopes.
*Tim takes off his jacket and quickly puts out the flames. Unfortunately, there is little left of the envelopes--just enough to reveal the winner for "Best Action Fic", verifying that Shawn Spencer, was, indeed correct.
Ziva: You do not suppose that Shawn did it, do you?
Tim: Well, he does seem to know who the actual winners are, and the results have been sealed up until tonight.
Ziva: And I do not believe in psychics.
*The others nod in agreement*
Tim: I'm going to call Abby and get her over here. See if she can tell us anything about the...can we even call that a bomb?
