Hospitals...
« on: August 01, 2010, 09:00:47 PM »

I'd ask Julie since she writes so many medical fics....  but she's not on Yahoo so I can fan stalk her.

How would someone not related to an accident victim gain access to visit with them?

I was going to suggest lie, or sneak in.  Or, you could have him charm some pushover nurse...not sure what the context is but it could work...

Each hospital is going to have different rules. For the most part, most people can go in and visit others unless it says on their account "no visitors". This of course has to be done during visiting hours and not when the person is having surgery or what have you.

Yeah, if he/she's already admitted to a regular room and whatnot, they could probably get in during visiting hours without being family.  If it's a case where they're in the emergency room or ICU or something, I'd have whoever it is lie and pretend to be a family member or significant other.  How would the hospital staff really know otherwise?

I don't really know for sure either; someone who actually works in a hospital would have a better idea.

I've actually been in this situation before... (long story) and I had to lie and say I was the person's sister. It got me in no problem.

If the person is just on a normal hospital ward then it's usual visiting hours.  I suppose it depends where the person is, if they are in intensive care then it's probably different.
