Another genre I'm usually not into is AU, which is also part of the reason I don't get into a lot of fantasy, sci-fi, vampire fics and such, cause often the genres go hand in hand. So after reading a "fantasy," I did a search for AUs and came across "Satin and Silk" by Julilly. Now I have to say, while I normally don't seek out AUs to read, the summary did appeal to me because the story is set in the 40s, and I like that time period. So I read it, and it's absolutely adorable!! I truly loved it. So yay!! ;D

I have read East Water Convergence as well as that famous fic called Oreos for Breakfast. Both of them I stopped half way and not because they're poorly written, the girls are obviously great writers, I just lost interest somewhere along the way. I even liked how Oreos for Breakfast started out as...the girl character felt real to me (and the whole making a cover of Larger than Life (i think that's the song) rocks) but when it started to become all abt the sex (on the plane, in the closet, backstage...), I gave up.
My real challenge is to read a pure slash and then a romance. I read Sarah's (starbeamz2) romance fic a while back, before this challenge was up, and i liked where it was going, i even told her so for the first 5 chapters that i read. I am planning to continue where I left off once i finished off a fic of mine, because for me personally, when im writing a certain genre, i need to be in that element all the time when im reading fanfics from other writers, if i go astray and get too deep on a fic that is not of that genre that im writing about, i tend to lose my muse and would have problem writing for the next few weeks and i really cant afford to do that, lol. So currently I'm reading Sarah's new crossover fic cause it's of the same genre as the one im writing right now.
So next, slash. *deep breath*

I always cringe when there's too much sex in too many places *shudders* I'm not one for graphically depicted sex scenes because then I feel like I may as well be watching porn LOL I know what you mean about EWC, mers, because I almost left it alone and then it started really getting going, so I thought I'd stick around longer. But it's gone now *sniffle* Good story.
Aww, thanks for all your awesome reviews for Monster, even though it might distract you from Children Like Me. It's not as serious, but, hey, if it helps you hold onto that muse...YAY!
Slash, like I said, is something that totally depends on the author. I've read one really bad slash, and then a bunch of really good ones. The really good ones were from the same author, though, and the romance wasn't the main story arc so that was cool. Romance can get hard to read (and write) if it gets too cliched and then it's like every other story out there. As long as the couple don't have explicit sex every chapter or something and aren't super lovey-dovey, I can usually handle it. Usually LOL

Oh, and Satin and Silk is so good! Julilly did an awesome job on that because the emotion, the drama, EVERYTHING was so well done! I had to read it again after you brought it up, Julie!
