And some teachers would try not to assign homework on Friday's.  It was also a discipline trick, if we were good, no homework on Friday, if we acted out then they'd assign something.

Hahaha.  I never assign homework on Fridays, period.  If kids have late work they need to finish, maybe they'd have that to do over the weekend, but the kids who turn things in on time never do.  I just figure, I don't want to think about school over the weekend, so why should I make them?  I do think homework is important for the extra practice and responsibility it teaches (since my kids are a lot younger than high school age), but... not on Fridays. ;)
