Fanfic/writing/fandom etc... Question(s) of the day
FrickingKaos:
Well everyone knows I love to review things I like, even if it is an old story I will review every chapter.
For me leaving reviews is fun, I like to see the author's responses as well :)
When I get the email notification for a new review on my phone I get really happy. It is a grwat feeling knowing someone enjoyed my work enough to leave a comment. It just motivates me to write more and makes me really happy and accomplished.
RokofAges75:
I love reviews! I've never been the kind of writer who threatens or bribes readers to leave them ("I won't update anymore unless I get so many reviews!"), but I do look forward to getting feedback. If I didn't, I'd just keep my stories to myself, at least until they were done. Getting feedback along the way is what's fun about posting a story as it's in progress. A good review makes me smile, makes my day, keeps me inspired, or sometimes even motivates me to go back to a story I've neglected for awhile. Reviews are powerful!!
Knowing that, I always review what I've enjoyed reading. I feel that it's part of being a responsible reader of fanfiction. As readers, we're getting good reading material for free; the least we can do is leave feedback as a token of appreciation. It's an etiquette thing. But like Tracy said, I do genuinely enjoy sharing my thoughts with the writer and getting a response back from them.

Honestly, how do you feel about reviews and feedback? Do you give it and how does it affect you when you get it?

I think that most of people who post their stories on fanfic site or boards want to receive some feedback. It's a good way to have, hopefully, a costructive feedback and to know if they are good or not. I admit, I love getting reviews, even if it's only one. It makes me happy. And, as RokofAges75 said, it keeps me motivated. There had been times when I wanted to give up and then, just a small comment, and I was smiling like it was Christmas Day. Most of all, I love talking with my readers, see what they think about the characters or what they think it's going to happen.
I try to leave review, especially when I'm absolute in love with a story. Most of the times I don't leave them not because I don't like the story but because I don't know how to explain myself. It's hard to leave a full review when you can't come up with the words and it annoys me when people only leave a simple "I love it" so I tend not to write it and wait for the moment when I finally have all the words ready. :)
Carter-Orange:
I love leaving reviews to tell the author how much I'm loving the story, and also I'm always happy to see reviews for my stories :)
I don't like writers who threaten not to post until they get reviews, it just seems desperate and makes me think they are only writing for the reviews instead of writing because they love it.

I love getting reviews too. It just motivates me to keep writing and it's a great feeling to know that someone is enjoying my stories. Although, lately instead of getting reviews I get a lot of emails and tweets about how much they are enjoying or loving my story. Sometimes you don't even know someone was reading your story till they make a comment. lol.
I try my best to give reviews to those stories that I am enjoying. The only time I don't leave reviews is if the story doesn't catch my attention anymore and I stopped reading or my ipod is not cooperating and it wont let me.
