Oh wow, that's nice that you and Pugsley can share insulin!  That definitely helps with the cost, having it covered by your insurance.

I did see that Trump clip where he talked about not having to vote again after this election. Horrifying! I don't understand how his supporters can call themselves "Patriots" while going against the Constitution and everything the founding fathers worked to establish.  I just hope we can keep the momentum and excitement on our side.

I'm glad you were able to finish your chapter and that it turned out better the second time around.  Cliffhangers are always a fun way to end!  My current story is not that kind of story that lends itself to cliffhangers, but I left my last chapter off on an ominous note and got a comment that just said, "Aww." LOL

Also, congrats on The Invisible Child surpassing Tumbledown as your most successful fic on AC!  I totally get the sense of accomplishment .  I like to watch my stats, too!  The World Will Be Waiting has worked its way up to my second-best story on AO3 in terms of stats, second only to its predecessor, My Brother's Keeper, which I'm pretty happy about.

I bet it takes awhile for the back to school nightmares to go away!  I had my first one of those back in June but haven't had too many lately.  We start back August 19th (for teachers; the kids start the 21st).  I'm still teaching 4th grade.  I could have switched to 5th or 6th if I wanted to, but I really like my 4th grade team and have no desire to teach older kids, especially not 6th graders.  My school is only grades 4-6, so going down a grade would mean changing schools.  There may come a time where I'm ready for that kind of change, but right now it feels like way too much effort to move classrooms and adjust to a new school, new staff, new curriculum, etc.  I've been able to find a better work-life balance than I used to have because I don't have to reinvent the wheel every year, which is really nice.  And I love 4th graders!  It really is a good in-between age.  Most of them are still sweet and fairly innocent (a lot of still believe in Santa), but they have a good sense of humor and can be taught to work independently.

Whoo-hoo, one month till your cruise!  You can think of me whipping my new 4th graders into shape while you're relaxing on the ship LOL.

I'm jealous of you both in terms of weather!  It's been hot and humid most of the summer here, and it will probably stay that way when school starts, which makes for an unpleasant teaching experience when the air conditioning never seems to cool down my corner of the school effectively enough.

Carter-Orange:
I wouldn't be able to handle hot and humid weather for long, I prefer it just warm.  We don't have aircon in our houses over here, so as soon as we get hot weather we all start to moan lol

RokofAges75:
I bet!!  I would not survive the summer without air conditioning!

Funny, I just popped on here because I thought of you, Steph.  I was browsing Reddit before bed and saw a post where a guy posted a picture of what appeared to be insect bites on his leg that hadn't healed for two months.  He was wondering what they were, and the top suggestion was bot flies.  Immediately, my mind went to your story and the bot flies in Jordan Knight's brain and how much fun I had maiming that poor doll LOL.  Good times!

Here is the thread if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/1efiqkb/got_bit_by_something_2_months_ago_and_it_hasnt/  The picture he posted isn't gross.

Vets are a bit like auto mechanics. My sister just took Pugsley to get his rabies shot which he needed for being boarded and she was trying to sell her on so many extra things. It's stressful.

I admit, it'll be nice unplugging from reality for 10 days. I'm tired of getting all worked up over something stupid Trump has said or done every single day. Of course, I'll come back and find out we are in a civil war, but while I'm gone it'll be nice!

I didn't realize you were in a 4-6 school. Yeah, it wouldn't make sense to drop down to a lower grade then. Why go through all that hassle if you enjoy what you're doing. I loved my 4th graders. I think 4 and 6 were my two favorite grades to teach because like you said, they are still very young minded, but at the same time you can have real discussions with them. Same with 6. They aren't quite as obnoxious at 7th and 8th graders. A little kooky but still at the age where they listen and get excited about things. I'm glad you still have at least a couple more weeks to kind of relax. Hopefully the dreams won't come anytime soon!

Awww lol I love that. I ended the next chapter I'm posting on a flatline so I'm sure I'll get a few of those as well. Congrats to you too! Now I'm just wanting to hit the 4,000 hit mark before this story is over. I don't expect any more kudos at this point, but I got 6 more yesterday, which means I think people are just giving me kudos without signing in.

I just got the notification that our cruise documents and luggage tags are ready to print. Yay! Parking is going to cost a small fortune, but still cheaper than having to fly somewhere.

It's humid today and yesterday was blech as well, but for the most part, it's been mid 80's, which isn't too bad.

Steph, I don't know what I'd do without air conditioning either. My music room in one of my schools wasn't air conditioned and it was total hell!

mare:
Oh no! Not the bot flies!! LOL
