It's almost June, can you believe it? Time for this years reading challenge!
We are going to do things a little differently this year. I know most of us really liked the splitting into pairs thing but there's always one or two people that get the short end of the stick when that happens, so this year I'm calling this challenge the Hidden Gem challenge.
How will it work?
If you are interested in participating in the challenge this year all you have to do is fill out the form below. I would like you to choose anywhere from 1 to 5 stories of yours that you feel deserve the chance to be read. You probably want to avoid stories that are really popular and well read because the chances of someone picking it as a challenge will be slim, but even still if it does fall under that category but yet you feel there are some who have avoided it until now, add it to the list.
Obviously if you've only written one or two stories, just use those!
Once you have filled out the form, you MUST participate in the challenge. Even if no one picks one of your stories you are agreeing to read two of the ones posted. Yes I said two. Because you're not really being assigned an author, this year I'd like you to pick TWO stories to read from the list. You cannot pick two stories by the same author though.
The reading rules pretty much are the same as always:
Once you commit to a story you have to see it all the way through to the end and give feedback along the way.
I will be leaving you 'friendly' reminders to do so!
You may not pick a story that you have already read. Check the reviews, if you left feedback, you need to skip it! That's what I plan on doing when you pick anyway, so to make my life easier, you check first. lol
Try to pick something that's slightly out of your comfort zone, but it's okay if you just go with something you might have just missed the first time through.

If you are including more than one story put them all on ONE form. You can always edit your post to include them later but it'll be less confusing that way. Remember you can choose up to 5 stories to submit for this challenge.

Hey gang! Just a reminder that if you plan on participating you need to fill out the form by next Wednesday. I was hoping by now more of you would have done this. I'm not sure if that means you are just busy at the moment or don't plan on doing it this year or don't like this format?
Give your thoughts on this soon because one way or the other I'd like to start this in June, even if the format does change to partners, the whole idea if the form will remain the same.
I don't know if it pays to do it if it's only three people so input would be great! Thanks!!

Give us a quick summary: As part of a secret agency that fights global crime, Nick squares off with his nemesis, the supervillain Dr. Rough (Howie), who is leader of a terrorist league.
Who is the main character? Nick and group
What genre is it? Comedy, action, AU
How many chapters? 78 (grouped into 11 "episodes")
Are your chapters long or short? Most are in the 2000-3000 word range.
What do you like best about your story? It's the most "out there" creative thing I've ever been a part of (since it's a collaboration). I love the parody aspect of it; while it was originally conceived as sort of a James Bond parody, it only spoofs a little bit of a Bond and a LOT of other movies and pop culture.
Would you consider it popular? No
Why are you choosing this one for people to read? Even though I've submitted it for this challenge before, it's the only other "hidden gem" I have, and if someone would rather read something light-hearted and fun than dark and depressing, I wanted to give them another option. I love 00Carter and wish that more than one person who's not part of the writing team loved it too.
Anything else we should know about it? (overly violent, sexual, slash, etc) It's so much more than a James Bond parody! You don't have to like or know anything about Bond to get into it. I am not a Bond fan. Most of my co-writers are not Bond fans. That's why we quickly moved past the Bond stuff and started spoofing things we like better. It's over the top and silly, so don't take it too seriously - keep in mind that it's meant to be a comedy. The first three episodes are good for back story, but Episodes 4 and beyond are a lot better.

I've only read the beginning of Finding Carter and haven't read any of Crash and Burn.
What made you decide to choose them?
I started reading Finding Carter when Tracy first started posting it, but fell behind after a couple of chapters and never caught up. I'd like to give it another chance and see where it goes.
Crash and Burn is a slash, which I don't usually read, but it's about Brian and Nick, who are my favorite Boys, and it's described as a hurt/comfort, which I love, so I thought I'd give it a shot and see.
Is this the first time you're reading anything by either author?
I have read stories by Tracy before, but not Cinzia.

"Secrets of the heart" really interested me because of the plot and the fact that's a Brian story. And it has been a period when I'm in love with AUs
Same goes for "The Other Side Of Nick Carter". The plot seems really interesting.

What made you decide to choose them? Story of My Life looked like it would be amusing and a fun read. I chose The Long Road Home because one of Mare's other "bromance" stories (Why I'd Do it All Again) was one of the first storeis I ever read on the site, and of course, loved it!
Is this the first time you're reading anything by either author? I've read maybe one or two of Carterr-Orange's short/challenge stories, and a few of Mare's (less than half, probably).

Well, Usako's story is something I wouldn't normally read so I wanted to try something different. As for Mare, I always love her stuff and she's my favorite author so I knew I would not go wrong choosing one of her stories. I had read almost all the other ones listed anyway.

I have never read anything by Usako. However Mare.....I've read almost everything and this is one of the few that I haven't. the storyline looked interesting to me and I know she writes the group stories that give me the warm fuzzies that I love. haha.

I would have signed up but I don't have hardly any stories I'd want to have put up to be read. I have past stories but I'm not sure I'd want those scrutinized as they are older and well probably not written very well. LOL.
