Title: *Tri's Updates*
Post by: Tri on July 18, 2007, 07:52:20 PM
Hey!  So I updated my story, Nothing New, last night.  I'm working on the eighth chapter right now and it should be done soon.  :)

The story is a Nick Carter fan fiction about him reuniting with his ex-girlfriend.  It goes back and forth between the present and flashbacks, paralleling their past relationship with their current developing one.

The story is in its early stages, but I'm trying to update as much as I can.  I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it so far, but I'd appreciate as much constructive criticism as you'd be willing to give!  I'd love to know what you think of the characters so far and the storyline.  I promise it'll get more interesting as I get past the initial "remeeting" part.  lol.

The link to my story is:  http://www.absolutechaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=8521

Read it and let me know what you think!!

Another Update!!  :)  I also changed the name of the story.  It's now "Any Other Way."  I tend to get inspired by song lyrics and "Nothing New" originally was trying to show that nothing was going to change in the relationship in the story.  While I was listening to my iPod before, I heard "Any Other Way" and decided that it really fit with the theme I'm developing.  So sorry for the confusion.

I'm really excited about this story because I have plenty of ideas and I'm not getting bored with it like I tend to with other stories.  I'm up to 12 chapters now.  If you haven't started reading it, go check it out.  If you have been reading it, check out the updates!

Leave reviews!  I love knowing what my readers are thinking.  Thanks!!

Hey! I'm not trying to sound mean here.. but I think your banner is a bit too big.. The rules are it should be around 300x300 or at least not on the frontpage.  If any of the mods disagree, I'm sorry for being wrong!

It's all good it comes out to a little over 600 but that's okay. I delete them once they get to 650 or higher. She just went long and short instead of 300x300.

I figured since I was making it short and wide it would be all right.  Let me know if you want me to change it because I definitely can.  :)

I just reposted it and made it 400x232.  If it's still too big, please let me know.  It's tough because I make mine wide and short instead of square.  I hope the resized one is all right.  Thanks for letting me know.  :)

yup that's an okay size. It's probably safe to think 400 x 200 or 230. You won't want to go beyond that though.

Double Trouble is already on its tenth chapter!  I've been really busy with teaching since December, but I'm trying to work out some sort of regular updating schedule (it seems to be two or three times a week).  I updated twice this weekend, though, so I feel very accomplished!  Go check it out if you get the chance.  Thanks for reading.  :)

Triiii!!

So, I thought I had left some reviews on Any Other Way and What The Heart Wants, but it appears that I have not.  I love these stories.  So much.  You can definitely see the growth in Nick and Katrina as a couple throughout the series.  You write their kids so well for their ages.  Sometimes it bugs me in stories when you have little children talking as though they are ten years older than they actually are (actually, it always bugs me..)  but you do such a good job of it.  They are so adorable.

I haven't yet read Double Trouble, but I will!  I love Nick and Katrina.  So cute!  I thought I'd leave this here instead of in a story just because it's kind of a review for the whole series, not just one specific story or chapter...yes.  Excellent job! :D

Thanks, hun!!  I really appreciate the overall review for my series.  I'm SO glad that you've seen a progression between Nick and Trina throughout the series.  I'm a teacher and besides taking childhood development courses, I have experiences with kiddos from birth to 13 years old.  So I'm really glad that my depictions of children are correct.  :)  I can't wait to hear what you think of Double Trouble and the newest addition to the series, It's Our Love.  :D

Now, I'm just curious here, it may sound harsh (if it does, I blame the fact I'm sick right now) but I gotta know. I did click on the link on the most recent list. Then clicked the series, and saw the series spanned for 6 stories. I know I'm not a romance expert, but how does one romance span 6 stories? Without seeming overdone or repeatitive or something.

Well, let me just start off with something we've all heard before...  "Don't judge a book by its cover!"  lol.  I mean, it's kind of tough when you haven't read my work and you're just making assumptions...  To be honest, it's not really a major romance series... The first story definitely was, but it's more focused on family and friends and how the main couple's relationship is affected by the people around them.  It's not a huge drama, either.  I base it more on every day life (or how MY every day life is) because I'm not a huge fan of crazy drama.  Sure, bad things happen just like in real life, but it's not like there's cheating and lots of dying and all that kind of thing...  I'm generally a happy and optimistic person and I'll be the first to admit that my sunny outlook shines through in my writing.  I know it's not for everyone, but it makes me happy and my readers seem to enjoy it!

Also, as much as I hate to admit this... It's been easy for me to stick with this series because I've been so busy since I got my first teaching job this past fall.  It's been simple to stick with the same familiar characters and all of that.  Am I attached by now?  Oh yeah.  Do I have time to create new characters right now?  Not exactly.  I really write just for fun and I haven't even written much more than a short prologue for almost a month now...  My career takes up a lot of time, so right now I do what I want.  Like I said, it makes me happy and I think that it's important for writers to enjoy their own work and not just write to please others.

Now, I don't know you and I hope you don't think I'M being too harsh here, but I'm just being honest with you.  I haven't read any of your work and I'm assuming from what you said that you're not into romances, but I respect that.  Believe me, I hardly read anyone's work on AC.  I get sick of the cliche romances and all of that just as much as the next person.  If I have one person that enjoys what I write, that's great.  If not, oh well...  At least I'm doing what I enjoy.  I hope you're doing the same!  :)

Thanks for asking, Rose!  I hope I answered your question.

Well I wanted to know before I started, cause it is rare to see fanfic span that long you know? Like number of stories wise. There's epics (such as Broken and By My Side amazing fics that are like 200 chapters a piece). but they're still only two stories. And when it's broken into separate novels, usually there is very different tale which is why they're separate. So seeing yours sparked my curiosity is all.

As for my writing, I actually have two romances...(well 3 if you count one sequel) of my own. But I tend to write almost anything striking my fancy, sci-fi, fantasy, AU...etc. I just, write what randomness I feel, and I love it. And it seems to come off well so far. I collab often, I discuss fics, cause I enjoy what I do creatively. If you do the same, more power to you. :)

And I read romances, but admittedly I am extremely picky with them. I just like discussing writing with other authors about their work, and figured I could ask without it being all dramatic so thank you :). I have work and college going so I have a severe lack of time myself. Hence me replying at 1 am cause I can't sleep and just got home from a night out only an hour ago. Sometimes, when you don't have the time to read the way you like, all you can do is judge from the cover and summaries. Sad, but true everyone judges by the cover first. In a store, for example, when you see a book, or a title. You can't exactly read it all in the store right? I see this as the same idea, so we all judge by covers/banners, or if you have the opportunity, ask the author herself.

Thank you for answering honestly :)

Yeah, that definitely makes sense.  Thanks for asking me then!  If you're into reading about a couple with a family, then my series is for you.  If not, well, that's fine.  I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.  :)

I've been so busy lately with school and work and I'm in such a funk right now to be honest.  I really hope I get out of it so I can update again soon.  In the meantime, if you do start to write, feel free to let me know on here or in a review and I'd love to hear your honest opinion of my work!  My series is very dear to my heart, but I'm always interested in hearing what people think.

Again, thanks for asking and thank you for replying.  lol, last night, I was majorly PMSing so if my response was somewhat harsh, I'm sorry.  Take care, Rose!  :D

I started Chapter 1 of Last One to Know and I'm hoping to have an update within the next week.  We'll have to see how it works out.

In the meantime, I'm trying to get Chapter 10 of Last One to Know out within the next few days.  Hopefully I will!

Thanks for reading!  ;D

So I've actually started posting a few new stories lately.  Even though I primarily am working on my Hearts Don't Lie series and fan fiction, I'm starting to try to write primarily alternate universe or original fiction just so I'll have to edit less if I ever try to publish my stories.  However, for those of you who don't like reading stories that aren't about Nick Carter, I used the first name Nick just for you!  :D  I figure if it will keep up readers' interest, I'll do it and then just change it if I ever want to actually try to get any of my work published in the future.  I hope you'll give the new stories a chance!

Anyhow, the new stories are as follows:

Define Love (http://www.absolutechaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=9094)
Months before Julie’s wedding, she meets a man who makes her question her definition of love. Will she remain true to her fiancé or jump headfirst into a new kind of love?

Sidetracked (http://www.absolutechaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=9102)
When a home in the country is willed to her, Kelly uproots herself and her daughter, Moira, to a new location. To Kelly, the house seems like the perfect retreat to get some serious distraction-free writing done, but after a while, it becomes apparent that her peaceful country life is anything but perfect.

Read Between the Lines (http://www.absolutechaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=9103)
My girlfriend, Holly, is a fan fiction writer. Okay, okay, that's not how we met or anything, but she gets bored sometimes while I'm doing a show and she's stuck on the bus or in a hotel room. I have to admit that the stuff she writes is really hot sometimes, but I can't help but wonder if some of it isn't autobiographic al. If only my fans knew...

As always, I'll still be updating the HDL stories, Last One to Know and It's Our Love.  Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!  I realized that Friday is my one year anniversary since joining AC and I can't believe I've managed to finish a few stories and develop new ones in that time.  I wouldn't have been able to do it without my readers' support, so thank you!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Just for a quick update...  I updated Last One to Know a few minutes ago.  I've been regularly updating that story and It's Our Love while I'm trying to get going on my more recent stories.  If you read them, please let me know what you thought!  I know there's a bit of a lull in reviews from some readers since it's summer, but I really do thrive on feedback.  :)

Thank you for reading, as always!

Hello Readers!  It's been a while since I've posted any news here and, if you haven't noticed already, it's been a while since I've posted consistent updates to my stories.  I wanted to let you know a little bit about what's going on with me, especially for those of you who send me reviews/messages asking when I'm going to update.

I've actually been putting off this message because I didn't want to disappoint you guys, but I figured it was important to explain that I'm still around and just taking some time off.  The truth is, I just haven't been motivated enough with fan fiction lately.  I knew there would come a time when real life stepped in and I would lose a lot of the time and energy I had to write.  That doesn't mean I'm completely finished writing.  I'll still try to post updates here and there when I have free blocks of time, but it's not going to be as regular as it was before.  There might be a time in the future when I pick things back up again, especially if I get into original fiction more, but I'm not making any promises.  I'd like to at least finish the Hearts Don't Lie Series stories (IOL and LOTK), but I don't know if I really will get to it.  All I can say is that I'll try.

I will be leaving my stories up on the site even if I neglect to update them for a while.  I hope you understand.  Thank you for being understanding and patient!  :)  Thank you for reading my work and providing me with awesome feedback right along the way.  You rock!  When I first began writing, I never imagined I would have such a great fan base with my work, especially knowing the site is FULL of talented writers with well-followed stories.  Thank you for giving me the encouragement and feedback to write what I have so far.

Take care and happy reading!

-Tri

Okay, so it's been FOREVER since I've posted in this thread...  But I just wanted to let you guys know that I have reposted my Hearts Don't Lie series (everything that I have written so far is now up).

For anyone who's curious, I'm hoping to finish Last One to Know and end the Nick and Kourtney series soon.  :)  I know a lot of people enjoyed the stories and that's why I decided to repost them and try to finish up the prequel, but it's time for me to move on to something new.  If you did like the series, I hope you'll enjoy my new stuff just as much.  :D

Speaking of which, I just recently started a new story called "Baby Steps."  It's an alternate universe Nick story and something I've been thinking about writing and finally got around to it.  If you read it, please let me know what you think!  I'd love to hear your thoughts!  :)

Take care everyone!  And happy reading!!

Hey Everyone!  I just wanted to let everyone know that I've been writing a lot more often lately - which means more frequent updates!

I'm trying to finish Last One to Know (the last story in the Hearts Don't Lie series), but I don't know when it'll be finished.  I'm hoping by next summer.  I've been slightly far removed from the Nick and Kourtney saga lately, but I still enjoy writing about them!  I hope there's still a few readers out there who are reading and enjoying the prequel.  :)

I have the rest of Baby Steps outlined and it should be finished by the end of the year.  I'm pretty excited about that!

I just started a new story called Passion.  It's something completely different from what I normally do.  It's edgy and risque and contains a lot of slightly taboo things.  While on the surface, it seems like a porno in print, it's actually a lot about infidelity, curiosity, realizing your needs in a relationship, and communication.  It should be interesting and I'm happy to see that some people have already read it, left feedback, and added the story to their list of favorites.  :)  I hope you continue to enjoy it or check it out!

Thanks so much for reading!  I appreciate it sooo much.

New updates to Passion!  I'm trying to update daily.  It's getting into the major conflict of the story, so I'm hoping that you'll enjoy it!!  It's getting really fun to write and I hope those of you who are reading it are having fun reading it, too.

I'm also planning to finish Baby Steps this week - just three more chapters left to write and post!  I hope you guys enjoy the ending.  :)

I just started a couple of new stories, but I'm seeing where they go before I post anything definite.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading!   ;D

Passion is going strong and I started a couple of new stories that I hope you'll check out if you haven't yet - Forgotten Souls and Learning Curve.  I try to update at least one story a day, especially while I've got some time off from my normally insane schedule.  :)  If you read, please let me know what you think in a review or message!  I love feedback and it's oh-so-motivating.

Thanks for reading!!

It's been a while since I've posted here!  Just figured I'd post an update since I haven't been regularly updating everything...  It's mostly because I'm taking a few courses and trying to finish my thesis, so I don't have as much time and attention to devote to "fun writing."  Because of that, I've really just been working on one story lately.

I am almost finished with Time Has a Way.  I so appreciate all of the feedback I've gotten on that one.  I really never know how readers are going to accept different stories, so I am so happy to know that a lot of you are enjoying it.  In all honesty, it's been one of the most fun stories that I've written.  I hope you'll enjoy the ending I have planned!

I just started re-posting Merry Maid, which is an old story that I'm slightly reworking and editing.  Some of it is pretty cringe-worthy for me to reread, but it's always fun looking back.  :)

Unconditional is on a back burner for the moment.  I have the rest of the plot planned, but it's just the matter of finding the time to write it.  It's going to be a lot shorter than Passion, but it will be getting slightly more dramatic soon.

Forgotten Souls is something I really, really want to finish, but it's slightly more complicated for me to write, compared to my romances.  That being said, I think it might be on hiatus until this summer, when I have more time to write.  (After my master's thesis is done!!  :D)

I'm going to try to start a new, sort of silly story after THAW is finished, but we'll see!  Sometimes I start ideas and lose interest before I start posting...  But I really hope to have something new after I finish THAW.

Thanks so much for reading and for all of your feedback!  I really appreciate it.  :)

I know...  I have the storyline planned out...  It's just a matter of making it all work.  I started it as a challenge to myself.  Although I love reading the genre, it's definitely not my comfort zone when it comes to writing.  Since I'd rather take my time with it and have it end up better than it would be if I rushed, I decided to just keep it on the back burner till I can sit down and focus more.  (Trust me, I'd rather be writing that than my thesis most of the time, though!)

I'm really glad that you're enjoying it so far, though!!  :)

Haha, thank you...  I don't know...  I just have a hard time rereading certain things at times.  I have a bunch of stories that I will probably never post because of that reason.  Unrealistic plot lines and silly characters...  I think a lot of us probably have some early stuff that we don't love looking back on.  I'm really glad you're enjoying it, though!  :)  Thanks for reading it!  It's not a super long one, so it will probably be all posted by next month.

Thank you!  :)  I'm glad that you're enjoying them.  I was excited to get some reviews from you...  It's always nice to know that I have new readers taking a look at my stories.  I've been reading Weird World and I want to get into your Nick and Amanda Series, but I haven't had a chance yet!  I really can't wait until May, when I'll have more time for things I want to read instead of things I have to read.  ;)

Aww, that's awesome to hear!  :)  Thanks so much!  I'll definitely check out the whole series...  Haha, if not in the immediate future, definitely this summer when I have a lot more free time!!

I've finished Time Has a Way!  :)  I'm very happy about that.  It was just one of those ideas that was stuck in my head and I wrote it relatively quickly, but I'm glad that I can concentrate on some stories that I started posting before it...

Forgotten Souls has a new chapter.  Again, this is one is challenge for me to write at times cause it's out of my comfort zone, but I will try to get new chapters out every week or so.  :)  Thanks for your patience on that one!

I'm hoping to finish Unconditional by the end of next month.  I don't plan on it being very long, but if you're into drama, you should check it out.  Even though it's a sequel to Passion, I'm trying to make it so that it can stand alone as well, for those of you who did not read Passion.  :)

Lastly, I have Merry Maid, which is already half finished.  I'll try to continue updating that daily for you!

I really just cannot wait until May, when I'll have more time to concentrate on fun writing!  Right now, I'm off to go work on my thesis and a science action research project.  Wish me luck!  lol.  I'll try to update Unconditional again tonight or tomorrow!

I finally updated Define Love with the last chapter.  :)  Hope you enjoyed it!

As far as everything else goes, I'm going to be on a little hiatus to focus on finishing my thesis.  It's less than a month till graduation, so I'm just putting the finishing touches on it.  Thanks for understanding!!

Thanks for your patience!  I'm just so glad to be finished.  Graduating a week from Saturday and I can't wait!!  :)

By the way, I posted a new story today called "Infidelity."  I'll try to get a new chapter of Forgotten Souls out soon, too!  Thanks for reading!
