What is het? I see it in refrence to a type of fiction but just really don't get it.

Het is just short for heterosexual, so het instead of slash.  I only see it used on sites that have a lot of slash, to differentiate.

so what do you call like... a story heavy with... uh... like... anger and violence? is that angst?

I wouldn't say angst for that. When I think angst I think very sad.

It depends on the type of anger and violence. If it's just pent up anger and some violence I would classify it as drama.

Yeah, it depends on the kind of story.  A suspense often has anger or violence, when there's a villain out to get the boys or something.  But if it's more anger/violence in a relationship or something, that'd be more drama.  I use drama as a catch-all when I'm not sure what else to call it - if it's not a comedy, it must be a drama LOL.  Angst I see as a subcategory of drama, when the story focuses a lot on a character's emotional pain and sadness.  I'd say all angsty stories are dramas, but not all dramas are angst.
