Title: Five questions at a time....
Post by: mare on February 04, 2007, 04:08:26 PM
Because this board seems to be very quiet lately lol

When you fill this out, you have to add five more questions to the list. You only have to do it once though. For example, Since I asked these five questions, after I fill it out I no longer have to come up with anymore questions.

To answer the questions already posted, you make a quote box with your answers and then in a separate box you come up with five more questions which you will leave unanswered. You can always go back and fill them in on another post.

Make sense? I hope lol

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?

 ;)

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?

1) Sure do. My pen name appears as nicksgal, even though it's really Nick's Gal. I chose it simply because it was my username on the message board I started writing my fan fics on. Which yes, it later became nicksgal because the board stopped allowing spaces in usernames.

2) *thinks* That's a hard one. I'm inclined to say any story that really popular because people actually read them. And yes, I can be quite shallow.

3) I'd tell you, but it's a secret for seven more chapters. ;) But the story is "Pandora's Box" all the way.

4) Probably my first four stories. One of which no longer exists as the computer before the Beast thought it would be a delicious snack. But basically think cliched plots, cliched character depictions, cliched protagonists. And that's what you get. If you're curious... then you can go see two of them: "The Orlando Story" and "The CO-Town Club."

5) Which one do you want? ;) Probably "me and my friends meet the guys and date them, kya." For some strange reason, it continues to plague my existance. *shakes head*

Ooh, I gave some toughies. :)

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it? Yup. LenniluvsBrian - because my nickname is Lenni & I love Brian - the obvious reason-lol.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fan fic that already exists): The Importance of Fly Fishing [y'all must be sick of hearing me say this fic over & over by now, but I love it SO much!] - because it's just SO Amazing & heartfelt & you can feel the emotion in it & the laughter - it's just - Beautiful.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story? Through The Eyes of The Other - Brian & a fan have a *life-changing* experience - not givin' it awya - go read! Lol.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written? I wrote one or two about fans meeting BSB & then dating them - haha. The teenybopper ones-hehe.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?  I still say Boy meets girl, they date, they marry - but I still love reading them! Haha!

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction? I have no idea - I just lvoe to write. I started off writing about Baywatch - sadly, I've misplaced those fics, which really ticks me off. They were in a black school notebook that I used to keep dibs on - now, I've no clue as to where it is.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically? Stepping stone - I want to be a famous author some day - only, I can't see to escape the Fan Fic world - help! Lol.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret? I would NEVER regret my Fan Fic career [it's a career? Wow! Why don't we get paid then? Lol]! I love it & it's fun - unless I'm stressing 'cause I know what I want to happen, but can't get to it-lol.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole? When they copy & paste more than a sentence that you've written & place it in their review & just say "I like this - it was funny". And I hate when they say they "LOVE" the chapter, & then lower the star ratings of the story [I think I know whose doing this too - sometimes, I think it's purposely]

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU? I just pretend he's still part of the group - which technically he is, he's just not making the album with them - he's on his own personal hiatus. But I beilive he shall be back, so I don't worry too much about it.

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it? Nope, just go by Rose

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists). Likely this very long one East Water Convergence cause its creative and now discontinued so I would have finished it had I wrote it.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story? I'd like to say As Reality Crumbles, or anything related to my plot ferret 00Carter

4) What is the most cliched story you have written? I wanna say one of my first stories that no longer exist on the net. Because the girls were Mary Sue then. But even then I wasn't one for cliches lol.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?  Girls meet band, girls date band while they tour. Lord.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction? Getting a comp and finding fanfic by accident, and watching The Call lol.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically? a hobby, but honestly I'd love to try getting published one day on the side. So a little of both.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret? Not finishing some stories.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole? The fact most of them go mainly for romance. Its frustrating my romance gets the reviews but my other ficcies are just as good.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU? I include him anyway. in my mind he's still a BSB

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why? Slash. Cause with the boys it just does not work.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]? Nope, I write for me, if it feels forced I put it on hold.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find? Well if people have seen/been a reader of my fics for some time and know my preferred genres, Just Another Day because its romance. My friends were shocked when they saw it LOL

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think? Nope, not really.

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why? Mersey, Mare, and Julie. More than one lol. But hey, I like them all for different reasons. Mare is one of the NON AUs I can read cause I think she has them down realistically. Mersey cause she has out there ideas but pulls them off so well. Darla, and Finding Brotherhood to name a few. Julie because she is one of like two romance writers I can read lol. Though hers has drama/angst mixed in as well. But still, one of two.

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?

I do. I was given my nickname (which I use for fanfic) by friends as I was growing up--it stuck. I use it instead of my real name because…well…if I use my full first name, nobody can ever figure out how to pronounce it. Or if I use my shortened name everyone assumes I’m female (okay so they usually do anyway, but hey…)

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)

I’ve never really thought about that, but I think I’d have to go with something like…Write Kind of Love by Gravity721. (I’ll admit that I am not caught up on it (*hangs head in shame*) but the reason I picked this one is because not only do I like it a lot, but it’s a genre I really just don’t/can’t write. And for that matter, I usually don’t even read. (*hangs head again*). Yup, romance.

On the other hand, I’d love to have the credit for pretty much any of mare’s fics, especially Mizpah and Importance of Fly Fishing. Just because I love Mare’s style, love the genres she writes, and I love the way she portrays the relationship between Nick & Kev.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?

In the BSB fandom…probably Frick and Frack are Dead (though I thought Frackenstein was also up there but since it’s a parody of Frankenstein can’t really take full credit for it ;) )

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?

Honestly a lot of my fics are kinda cliché concepts, but I like to think I put a pretty good new-spin on them. Probably Ground Zero would be the most cliché for the BSB fandom (stalker, Nick’s the victim, yada yada.) In any fandom I’d probably have to go with Road to Hell from the Supernatural fandom in which I have one of the characters swapping gender. Again I hope I put new spins on things, but…yeah. Lol.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?

Boy meets girl, fall in love, boink like bunnies, fight and break up, get back together, boink like bunnies, fight and/or get married.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?

Even before I was able to write, I did the fanfic thing. First instance, I liked the “Big Bad Wolf” and retold the 3 little pigs so that he won. LOL. I did the storytelling thing a lot, rewriting stuff or writing further adventures of characters I liked. First actual fanfic that I *wrote*…not sure, but I think it was for a book called Sometimes It’s Up by Ruth Christoffer Carlsen. First one I shared with anyone was in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. First BSB was Ground Zero.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?

Hopefully a stepping stone, but since I’m terrible with deadlines and finishing projects (erm…) it’ll probably end up being a hobby.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?

That it ended! And that I left so many fics incomplete.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?

As a whole, no. I love fanfic readers. I’m a completely neurotic writer, but fanfic readers who take the time to comment seriously have helped me to get some confidence in my writing.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?

Personally I think it’s perfectly fine to use him in the fic as though he hasn’t left the group (hey face it part of what makes fanfic…erm…fanfic is that you can muck around in their universe all you want. Besides, many people ignore wives and girlfriends, so including Kevin isn’t much different than that.)

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?

I never say never when it comes to writing. There isn’t any genre I wouldn’t at least consider. Probably I won’t write NC-17 PWP fic ever, but I guess I still wouldn’t rule that out because hey, I’ll do pretty much anything for a challenge. Lol.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?

Not really, well unless you count school assignments, in which case I was forced to write this one story about the future. I totally didn’t want to write it and threw something together at the last minute.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?

Well, many of my friends would be shocked to learn I write BSB fic at all. If we’re talking about people in this fandom, though…dunno. Probably that out there in cyberspace I have indeed posted a co-written fanfic for The O.C. (though my writing partner was supposed to be the one doing all the writing I was just supposed to “coach”, I pretty much wrote the first couple chapters and I don’t think they’ve continued on. Oh well. lol) and have written a bit of Degrassi fanfic.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?

Nah, not really. If it’s online, odds are it’s on A.C. (except aforementioned degrassi fic—which it’s not on AC mainly because it’s more unfinished works and I don’t want to add them until they’re finished lol)

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?

For me, that would be Mare. I kinda mentioned this above in a previous question, but she seems to love writing the genres I love to read, she’s got a great style, comes up with original and creative ideas, she clearly takes the time to proofread her works before posting, gives characters depth, and keeps plots surprising. As a bonus, she just genuinely comes across as a great person to get to know--she's always very helpful to others, and is good at encouraging. Go, Mare! Woot!

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?

Ground Zero, to some extent--while the genre I was used to, the fandom was completely foreign to me when I started writing it.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.

See, I don’t really know how known or unknown some of the writers are, so this may not be all that unknown--I would choose Louise and her story Garden (found at http://www.absolutechaos.net/cgi-bin/stories/display.cgi?id=68&sort=date&cat=24 ). While I have read a few other fics that have some of the same elements, I thought she put a really good spin on the story and it’s just really well written.

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How? I really can’t think of how any music video has inspired any of my stories…Really I don’t think the music has really shaped any of my fics except for Wanna Shout which was inspired by the song (but I don’t think there ever was a music video for it…)

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer? Finishing things I start. *cough*

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer? Suspense. See, that’s the real reason I haven’t finished some of them…I’m keepin’ ya’ll in suspense. Erm.. okay seriously, I think that my strength lies mostly in eliciting emotional responses (like fear, tension, angst, and I hope even humor...) and leading readers on emotional rollercoasters .

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction? Seeing a lot of people writing it and getting praise on my message board. I just wanted to join in and be praised also.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically? It's just a hobby.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret? Probably not finishing what I started. And having to let go of my harsh, demon masters.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole? Probably how a lot of good stories get ignored because they aren't the "popular plots/genres".

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU? Kevin is always a BSB to me, so it just seems natural to continue to include him.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why? Probably either slash or visual. Slash doesn't seem to work in the Backstreet fandom, so I don't really support it. In an original story, however, I have included two lovers that are both male, and one's dead. It's pretty awesome! No... I'm not sadistic at all.... And I don't like visuals because I've always felt that sex for the sake of sex cheapens a story. Sex should be as meaningful as any other element in a piece of work.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]? Nope, I write for me. And that's that.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find? Hmmm.... I think I may have to go with my comic "Mahou no Megami" just because it's... Well I suppose if you've read "Pandora's Box" multiply all its elements by ten. It's darker, more angsty, more bloody, more battles, more magic, more love, more catasrophic circumstances. That and it's all mine, all my characters, all my plot, all my world. I'm really quite proud of it. ;D

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think? Hmmmm.... Not really. I once posted aforementioned "Mahou no Megami" on AC in its script format, but took it down  because I am looking to publish it as a comic one day.

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why? I don't really have a favorite, but I support all my friends in their endeavors. I never have much time for reading anymore, so....

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why? *thinks* I'm going to have to say my original story "Mahou no Megami' because I pretty much had to start from scratch. Although, there are some people you may or may not recognize, depending on how well you know me personally. Pretty much the story came to me one day and I felt it was something I had to write, but it entailed about 40+ characters, most of which were major, situations I'd never done, a lot of battle scenes, doing reserach... :o It was a total step out of the box for me. And I couldn't be happier. Well, except when my editor goes on his "meet your deadlines" tangents... But he seems to have stopped caring these days. :)

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why. I'd say me, but I'm entirely selfish that way. Rose, PuraPura, and I'm sure there's others I can't think of right this moment. But there are a lot of great authors out there, and people just brush them off because of the genre they write or the characters they use.

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How? No, not really. There was a joint one once inspired by "Everybody" but I had no part in the concept and dropped out after writing two chapters... I think the fic is dead at this point. SOngs can inspire my writing, but it's snippits, not entire stories.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer? I'm gonna agree with  Chaos and say finishing what I start. I have a HUGE problem with that.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer? I'm not sure myself, but I've been told that it's totally emersing people in whatever world I choose to create.

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them? Who are the authors? If my friends were writing, there wouldn't be a doubt in my mind when I stood at the register with them in my hands. Anyone else, it would depend on the story and whether it had a publish-worthy plot.

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?) Well, they wouldn't be guest stars, but I would love to see them on "Survivor" or "Who Wants to Marry a..." because I think it would be hilarious! Otherwise, I'll just say "Gilmore Girls" because it's my favorite show aside from "House of Carters" but they're already on that, so....

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”? I'd end it. I once tried another fandom and it didn't go over very well at all. So, pretty much when my stroll through BSB fan fiction is done, I'm done.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!) Demons! :-* But you all knew that already. :D

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?) Never. I write for me, and I'd never be inclined to write either of those generes.

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
Title: Re: Five questions at a time....
Post by: mare on February 05, 2007, 02:41:43 PM
LMAO wow that's a lot of questions. Maybe I should have made it two or three huh?

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?

I just decidedto shorten my name for my fanfic pen name lol so I went from Marianne to Mare.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)

Besides Ground Zero because we all know I love that one lol i'd have to say Broken because I wish I could write a medical drama as well as Julie did with that one.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?

Probably Shadow Woods, even though at the time I had no idea where it was going myself.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?

5 Backstreet Boys in Search of a plot because that was the idea behind that one. The most innocently cliched story I have ever written is Mizpah though.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?

Nick falls madly in love with *inserts authors name here* lol

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?

Just finding great ones to read like Ground Zero, Can You Keep A Secret and Swollen Issues. They inspired me to write me own.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?

I'm not sure, a stepping stone but yet it's a fun hobby.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?

Leaving my fics incomplete.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?

I think my readers are awesome. They are what helps motivate me to write and get better at what I do.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?

I can't see myself ever NOT writing about Kevin since to me he's such an important part of BSB, even if he's not in the group anymore he helps bring that brother dynamic to the table so he's there as far as i'm concerned. lol Even if I have to just resort to writing fics of them in the past.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?

I really can't see myself ever writing a visual. It's just not me lol

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?

I have written sequels just because I thought it was what people wanted and those ended up not being fun for me to finish in the end.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?

Hrmm i'm pretty predictable and don't have anything hidden away so I don't think anyone would be shocked by anything i've written. Maybe my nonfanfic stuff, but even then not so much.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?

Nope lol

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?

I don't really read all that much anymore but I admit I squee when I see that Chaos, Mersey, Just Marina, Jenna/Swenglish and Julie, Refuse 2 Lose have updated something new.

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?

Probably Lion's Den because it was the first fic I wrote featuring Howie. That was hard for me.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.

I'm not up on who's popular or not either lol but i'm going to say Refuse 2 Lose. Her stuff is awesome!

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?

Nope lol

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?

More descriptions, less dialogue, even though I heart dialogue

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer? Dialogue lol

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them? Who are the authors?

That would be awesome! Can you imagine being paid to do this for a living? I would most certainly buy them as long as they were the kinds of stories I would read in the first place. So basically any of my favorite authors from up above as well as my friends. If they weren't horribly expensive i'd buy them all just to support everyone and keep it going lol

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show?

Well one of the stories I have in the back of my head is to have Kevin and Nick go on the Amazing Race lmao but besides that. I would love to see Nick in Numb3rs as the youngest Epps. I can see Kevin on something cool like CSI or something like that. AJ and Howie would make a great demons on Supernatural. Brian would fit in nicely on a medical drama like Grey's or ER.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?

I honestly can't see myself putting my heart and soul into another fandom like I have done for BSB. Maybe i'd dabble at SN or Numb3rs but at the moment i'd have to say no to that one.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)

SQUIRRELS!!!!! And Chaos you know I will do it!

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

Hrmm lol I honestly don't think anyone would want to read a visual by me.

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?

I continue to write because I LOVE writing. I can't imagine not writing, although at times I say this is my last BSB fanfic it has nothing to do with reviews or support. Just because at that particular moment, I have run out of ideas. I have always said once I find I am dreading writing like I used to dread homework, i'll stop but happily that hasn't happened yet.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?

I have never really taken a 'hiatus' but right now i'm at a point in my life that it's been kind of hard keeping up with my writing. I used to be able to update once a week but now it's turned into once every two or three weeks. It's just the way it has to be for now lol

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?

I would give Why i'd do it all Again to Mersey because she knows me so well, she'd be able to write it for me without skipping a beat

Maria (just Marina) would inherit Scars because I think she'd be able to jump in there and make it her own.

Chaos could have 13th Step. I can see him taking that one and flying with it.

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?

Wow these are depressing lol :( I would like to be remmebered as being creative, suspensful and well rounded.

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?

My main goal is to make people laugh and cry while reading. I want to be able to touch my readers with my words. Wow was that cheesy enough for you? lmao

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?
Yes. “Honey” Its just been a nickname of mine since high school.   (there’s a long story behind it.)

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)
I guess “Seven Days” by Refuse because I’m not the biggest fan of that genre but that story kept me reading till the end and kind of made me want to try something like that myself.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?
One I haven’t tried to write yet…(I’m working on it) It’s a series of mysteries actually told from Baylee’s perspective that would give us comical glimpses into the life of the Backstreet Boys.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?
Take your pick! –lol I guess “The Story” because it was my first and I was like 14 and so in love with the Backstreet boys

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?
Two best friends meet their favorite BSB’s and consequently said boys fall madly in love with girls… (also the plot line for the above mentioned fic. Haha)

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?
A homework assignment actually. My freshman year of high school I had to write a story based on “what if…” I joked at first with my BF saying what if… we met the Backstreet boys… I didn’t turn it in, but I was too curious to not write it and the rest is history.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?
It started as just a hobby but the more I do it the more I discover how much I love doing it and the more I want to learn and try to get to that next step.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?
Probably my unfinished works and all the unique friendships I have gained alone the way

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?
Not that I can thing of?

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?
I think it’s great. Kevin is still important to most of us. I myself have now written stories both with and without him.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?
Straight Horror.  Just too gruesome for me. Maybe an element of it here or there but a whole slasher piece? I don’t think I’m capable of that.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?
Well I started a Kevin one when he left and part of me wanted to but part of me just felt like I should and to this day it is my biggest headache. I think it’s important to write for YOU!

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?
Probably “Not Your Average Cinderella Story” simple because its such a far cry from all the sweet PG stuff I usually write. I know that if people I know in person saw it they might be a little shocked.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?
Nope. In fact it was the kindness and encouragement of the people on Absolute Chaos that eventually convinced me to post anything anywhere.

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?
Sarah!!! (Starbeamz2) I love her stuff! I think because we seem to think along similar lines and have similar tastes. We also share a love for Brian and I love reading a good Brian story!

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
There hasn’t been one yet. I haven’t been brave enough, but I am working out the details for my mystery series and that will definitely pull me from my comfort zone. Mysteries intimidate the hell out of me!

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
I’d say Dee. (Nicksgal) She’s probably pretty well known around here cause she posts so much. But her stuff is fantasy and AU and demons and vampires and stuff so I’d be willing to bet that not many have read her stuff. But so far it’s WONDERFUL! If she can pull me into that world, she could probably pull everyone into it!

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
I started “The Day I Fall” after watching the “I Still” video. Don’t know why but the look and feel of that video just got my brain going and inspired the idea behind the story.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?
Probably my vocabulary. I think I am good at telling stories but they never sound poetic at all.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
Keeping my readers interested. Making them understand the characters and relate to them.

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them? Who are the authors?
I’d love to say no, but you know I would. -lol

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show?
Smallville! Any and all of them. Then they would have super powers and that would be cool.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?
I think I would try writing a Smallville fanfic. I’ve actually thought about doing that anyway just haven’t gotten around to it.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)
Secret Agents!!!! –lol ))Carter people, it’s gonna be HUGE! I’m not shamelessly promoting here!  ;)

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)
I honestly don’t know that I ever would…

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
Writing for me is like a drug. If I don’t get a little time everyday to do it, I get really cranky. I’m a stay home mom of a 2 and 3 year old and writing is a way for me to use my brain on a more intellectual level. It challenges me and I need that.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
I wrote my first fan fic when I was about 14 then I didn’t write another one until I was about 24. I didn’t realize I loved it so much. In the mean time I wrote mostly poetry and songs.

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
Definitely. I get so involved in each one that it would drive me crazy (it already does) to not have them complete.

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
I don’t know that I would care about being remembered, I just hope that somewhere along the way someone else gained something from my experience. It would be really cool to be the reason someone started writing their own fan fics. … Like being the “Chaos” to somebody’s “Mare”.

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
My main goal is just to enjoy myself and hopefully improve a little with every story.

WOW, that was a project. and seriously, I don't know if I can come up with another five questions... how about we cut it down to one now? -lol cause that's all I can think of...

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know uotside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?

Wow, lots of questions!!

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?
Yes.  When I first got up the nerve to see about getting my first story hosted, I was terrified of my friends finding it, so I made up a pen name.  It comes in handy when I meet weirdos online, cause I don't have to worry about them knowing my real name and finding out where I live and such; that would creep me out.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)
"Finding Brotherhood" by Mersey (http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/mersey/fb.html) because it's such a cool, creative, clever story.  I'm not usually creative enough to think of the kind of stuff she had in that story, so I admire her for having that kind of talent.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?
LOL I have no idea... I don't think I'm very creative. =P  Most of my ideas are inspired by other things, and then I put my own twist on them.  My most creative stuff probably came out in "Phantasm," a collaboration I participated in with Mare and a bunch of other authors.  It also comes out in my comedies.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?
I have quite a few cliched stories from my first year of writing especially, but the one that takes the cake is "Through Thick and Thin."  It's a girl band fic. =P  I called it "my bopper story" when I was writing it cause I knew how cliched it was even then.  But it was really fun to write, in that lovely cliched, soap opera way, so I don't even consider it my worst story LOL.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?
Today?  I'm not sure.  I don't see as many bus crash and girl band stories as I used to, so maybe it's the "Boy meets girl who has been raped/abused/assaulted/hurt/whatever and teaches her how to love and trust again" kind of story.  I get tired of the female leads with the tragic pasts, dead parents and abusive boyfriends and all.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?
I came across a story one day that sounded really good, so I read it, and it was pretty good, but it was only a short story, and I found myself wishing it had been a longer story.  It didn't quite meet my expectations.  I wished I could read a story like the one I had been imagining when I read the summary of that one, and when I couldn't find out, I decided to write my own.  That's how I started writing.  I've gotten several story ideas that way - if no one else is writing the kind of stuff I want to read, I write it myself LOL.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?
It's always been a hobby to me, although lately I've gotten it in my head that I would like to someday try to get a novel published.  But I have no desire to write as a career; I prefer doing it for fun, with no pressure, deadlines, etc.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?
I might regret the fact that I've spent the last four years of my fanfic "career" working almost solely on the same series and haven't yet had a chance to pursue the other ideas that have been slowly brewing in my head.  But at the same time, I'm more proud of that series than anything else I've ever written, and it's taken me four years to write it because I had a LONG story to tell, and I'm nearing the end of it now, so I really shouldn't have any regrets.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?
The only thing that turns me off is the ones who read regularly and never say a word - no reviews, no feedback, not even a "Great story; I'm really enjoying it; keep it up!"

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?
I don't see why that would be a big deal at all.  It's not like Kevin is dead; he's still around, so why couldn't you write about him?  It's not like the Boys have severed all ties with him just because he left Bsb, so why should we cut him out of our stories?

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?
Slash, because I can't take it seriously.  So if I wrote about it, it would be in a parody, and I'd be making fun of it.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?
Yes.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?
I think anyone who stumbled onto Broken and BMS, having never read any of my older stories, would be shocked to read the horrors that are my older stories, especially stuff like Through Thick and Thin LOL.  My writing's gotten a lot better since then.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?
I have a ton of stories that aren't posted on AC, just cause I don't think they're any good.  I'd rather plug the stories I'm reasonably proud of.

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?
Offhand, probably Jenna.  I've been reading her stories for like 7 years, and she writes the kind of stuff I like to read.  The Swollen Issues series is a perfect example.

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
Phantasm, which I mentioned earlier, because it was a supernatural/psychological kind of story, and it was more fantasy than I'm used to writing, so I really had to stretch my creativity to contribute to that one.
Also Broken and BMS because I ended up writing scenes in those that were just uncomfortable for me, but because of that, they've both been great challenges for me.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
Jen, author of "Remember Me This Way" (http://www.geocities.com/imaginefanfic/), who really shouldn't be unknown because she's been writing for at least 8 years, but I don't see her get a lot of recognition.  She's awesome though.  She writes great angsty medical tearjerker types stories (which I love), and her writing has gotten so good over the years.  She just needs to update more often. =P

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
Actually, yes.  I have a short story inspired by the video for Fuel's "Hemorrhage."  I'm sure that's not the only example, but it was the first thing to come to mind.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?
Skill-wise, characterizati on.  Story-wise, I would love to write a good suspense or some kind of fantasy/supernatural thing that would be really creative and original, something out of the box.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
Dialogue; I think I'm pretty good at dialogue.  I'm also good at researching and writing medical stuff accurately.

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?
If I liked the original fanfics, of course!!  That would be cool.

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)
ER or Survivor

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?
It would probably be the end.  I've never gotten into writing for any other fandom.  My biggest obsession after Bsb would probably be Harry Potter, but I've never been able to read HP fanfic, and I can't see myself really getting into writing it either.  When I get tired of writing about Bsb, I'll probably just write original fiction.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)
Bsb as a club of 13-year-old babysitters.  I was a big fan of the Babysitter's Club when I was little. ;)  (No, honestly, I prefer to read about the guys as themselves, so I have no idea LOL.)

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)
As I said there, the only way I'd do it is if it was a comedy/parody.  Then I could totally see myself doing it LOL.

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
Mostly my own inspiration, but reader support definitely helps.  When it comes down to it, though, I write because I want to write.  If I don't feel like writing something, no amount of begging is gonna get me to write it.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
Nope... seven years, and it hasn't happened yet LOL.

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
My friend Bianca is probably the only one I would completely trust to finish them.  She's incredibly talented, and she knows how my mind works, and she's always on the same page as me with stuff in my stories, so I know she would be able to do them justice.

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
I guess I would like to be remembered as a good writer who was also a nice person and appreciated her readers.

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
My main goal is entertainment. .. of myself and other people, I guess.  I write because it's a fun hobby for me, and I love the fact that other people enjoy reading my stories too.  That's part of what makes it fun.  So my main goal is just to enjoy myself and provide enjoyment for others.

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know uotside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?
It's absolutely a secret part of me LOL.  My family knows I write, but they're not allowed to read my stuff.  My mom has swown she will never read it, and my dad and sister don't really care to LOL.  My friends have no idea I even write.

32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.

Wow, all the questions took me an hour to answer! But they were fabulous!

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?
Absolutely, even though a lot of people know my real name’s Sarah, anyway. Way back when Xanga first came out, starbeamz2 was my username for that and it just kinda stuck even when xanga (thankfully) did not.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)
I think Julie used this one, too, but Finding Brotherhood by Mersey was one of the first stories I stumbled across, and I couldn’t leave the computer until I’d finished it. It was so emotionally compelling and beautifully written—I was sobbing by the end of it (which is very, very rare for me to do). So, while I think Mersey has incredible talent, I wish I had the creativity that she does, too!

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?
Haha. Creative, I don’t think I am. I guess I just started writing one about Brian being a murderer or something. But I don’t think that’s very creative LOL. My creativity has kinda been on vacation since I was born.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?
I guess “Second Chances” and “All At Once” because they’re the same old same old Boy meets girl, Boy falls in love, crazy drama ensues and keeps them separate until they realize that they’re really in love and then…TA-DA, they get married and have tons of babies. The End.

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?
The answer to number 4. And, sorry for piggy-backing off of Julie’s ideas, but the whole abusive past for the female lead.  Oh, and how the Boy will beat up the bad guy and make the world round again for her and yadda-yadda. I know I’m guilty of having a female with an abusive past in “Then Again” but I couldn’t help it! I didn’t know any better LOL.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?
A long, long time ago, my best friend and I orally “wrote” the world’s longest fan fiction full of all the teenybopper favorite plot lines and all. We spent a year and a half’s worth of time on the school bus, trips to New York and amusement parks, on the phone, etc. and came up with it. I think I eventually wrote out a couple parts but those were the crazy elaborate ones with their kids' lives, so yeah. I think they’ve disappeared into the abyss. Then, I forgot all about it and had never actually realized that fanfiction did exist until summer 2005. I read and read until January ’06, when I decided I wanted to try my hand at it and here I am.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?
Definitely hobby, though I wouldn’t mind if, one day, I was as lucky as Mare and had something published. Then again, I’d have to work on my confidence enough to try to have it published in the first place.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?
All the ideas in my head that would have nowhere to go. They’d slowly fester and die painfully. It would not be pretty. I’d regret not being able to write as a stress reliever.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?
Silence. Absolute silence.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?
Um, I actually started a story solely based on him and Kristin set after he left the group, so  I see no problem in doing it. In our hearts, I’m pretty sure we all think he’s a part of the group anyway. It would be weird excluding him at this point.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?
Visuals/slash. It just squicks me out, so no. I couldn’t do it. Too much graphic-ness is not attractive to me.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?
Like the demons of writing were standing behind me poking me with a giant pitchfork and saying, “WRITE! WRITE!”. Yes. Yes, I have.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?
I’m fairly new. Having only begun writing a year ago, I think there’s not much people could find that would shock them about my stories.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?
Yes, but they aren’t fanfic, and they're nowhere online. I don’t really think anyone would want to read non-BSB or fandom stories.

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?
I think it’s a tie between Mare, Julilly, Chaos, and Julie. I love Mare because she makes me giggle with her humor. Julilly’s AU’s are wonderful to read and a nice break from the ones set in this reality. Chaos has such talent, and his stories are so intriguing that I can’t break away until I’m done. Julie is just super dedicated and her work is incredible. Plus, she's awesome with feedback and it got me all excited to write "Then Again" when she would give me such enthusiastic feedback. All four of these authors keep me wanting more!

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
“Then Again” because it was the second story I’d written and I didn’t really know my suspense and police procedure too well. Hence, the awkwardness of it all.  But it turned out longer than I wanted initially and I’d feel compelled to write until I was as emotionally exhausted as I tried to make the characters be.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
Erin. She’s written three stories that are up on AC (Relentless, In Your Hands, and Perfect Fallacy). She’s got a terrific writing style and has used Brian in all three of her tales, which are AU’s. She’s got another one on her site that’s just begun and I don’t think she updates it anymore which makes me sad because it looked like it was gonna be fabulous. But, yes, Erin would be my choice.

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
Um. No.  I guess it’s probably because I haven’t really paid attention to music videos since I was 14.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?
Emotion, plot, and the depth of my characters. Also, I’d like to be a better suspense author because I love reading suspense. I’m gonna try to get it right this time on my new fic, Hensley, but we’ll see what happens.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
Uhhh…I honestly don’t know. Ideas? I’m good at ideas. I have tons of them. It’s the following through that’s a problem.

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?
First of all, that’d be pretty awesome if it ever happened. And, second, probably. As long as I liked the stories, then definitely.

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)
I think Kevin would be fabulous as another steamy, dreamy doctor on Grey’s Anatomy. I wonder what his nickname could be…
But,  I think any of those hospital/police dramas would work for the guys.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?
I really can’t write about anyone else, except maybe JC from *N Sync (I know, crazy, right?!) But, other than that, I’ve already started writing other original fiction that I’m not sure I want to put up on AC because it probably wouldn’t be read, but yeah…original fiction would be next.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)
Squeak, squeakity, squeak squeakin’. Does anyone remember the end of The Emperor’s New Groove with the evil witch as a squirrel? Somehow, the squirrel thing reminded me of that LOL.
Um,  I guess it would be interesting if they were all the desperate housewives in reverse. If their wives went off to work and left them with the kids. That would be interesting…Brian in an apron has…erm…appeal in a…I can’t write that thought. *walks away whistling*

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)
I’d squirm as I wrote it but I guess I’d write if asked to do so.

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
My writing demons make me do it! And, if people really want to read something, I write faster. I think it’s both self-gratification in a PG way and making other people happy, too.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
Well, 5 years ago I sorta started, but I don’t think little bits here and there really counts. I’ve officially been writing for 1 year and 1 month. So, nope. No hiatus yet.

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
I think my brain is just too whacky for anyone to really be on the same page as me, but I think I’d want Julie or Louise (“The Garden”). Julie because she’s the first fanfic author I really talked to a lot (how come we don’t do it anymore, Julie?), and could tell a lot of things about my stories to. Louise is a phenomenal writer and I doubt she’d want to finish my works because they’re so inferior to hers, but it’s worth a shot, right?

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
I don’t really know.  If people think I’m a good writer, then that’s what I’d like to be remembered for.

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
To get the ideas out of my head and onto the computer where they’ll be fun for others, and myself, to eventually read. Other people and their interest does influence that but really, it just makes me write faster. So thanks!

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know outside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?
Only two of my friends know. No one else. Starbeamz2 exists online and that’s it. Shhh…Not that I’m embarrassed, but my writing’s for me.  Plus, I’d be absolutely crushed if people I grew up with hated my stuff and laughed at me (not that they would, but still…) So, to be on the safe side, no one but those two really know.

32) Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?
“Proving Them Wrong” once I finish it. Or maybe “Then Again”. I’m proud of both and they’re the longest of all of my stories. I really put a lot of time and effort into them, so either of those two would be my pick.

33) Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Initially, “Cover Me With Dreams” sounded just like every other Nick romance, but, afterwards, I was very, very glad I read it. Fabulous story!

34) If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be? (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.) Oh, Julie, I thought of why you’d ask this LOL. I guess I’d be shocked that a BSB-er had a) started reading fanfiction, b) took the time to email me, and, c) I’d write back and say thank you and find out what he liked about it or didn’t like or whatever. Hopefully, we’d have a nice long email exchange process. And, of course, I’d love to meet him/them, so if that could be inadvertently arranged, that’d be a sweet deal.

35) As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why? Ohhhh…no. None. Absolutely not. Well…maybe. “The Coffee Shop” or “The One” because there’s absolutely no romance in them which would surely be uncomfortable for the Boys to read. I mean, really, can you imagine reading a story about yourself where you were boffing some random person and dealing with all sorts of crazy drama? I know it sounds hypocritical coming from someone who writes those sorts of stories, but I’d rather the Boys never read those stories.

36) Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.
Ooh. Hard one. If it were ever edited and finished, I think East Water Convergence would make a fantastic series of books because the concept of the story is really intriguing and I’m sad that Kid Sinclair stopped writing it because I wanted to know how it ended. Symbolism is a great favorite of mine, and that tale was chock full of them. It was suspenseful, dramatic, fantastic, supernatural, and eerie. I loved it!

32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?

Hrmmm...for a fanfic I would have to say Either The Importance of Fly Fishing or It Stays With You. Fly Fishing because it's just a story i'm proud of. I like the way it turned out and the way the characters developed in it. It Stays because I think i'm known first and foremost as a suspense writer and I think that's probably the best suspense I have written.

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

To be completely honest I don't think that's happened, the opposite has though. I've gotten really excited about a synopsis and hype of a few stories and then when I went to read it I was really disappointed after a few chapters in.

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.) LMAO!!!!!! ;) I would probably squee like a little girl and then think there's something seriously wrong with them for liking my stuff! lol

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

Probably Fly Fishing because it's nice and innocent and none of them get tortured lol Although I doubt AJ, Brian or Howie would be inerested.

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.

Seven Days by Refuse because it's so visually stunning. I always felt like it read like a mive more so than a story. I could even hear a film score!

37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? If so, which one?

38) What is one thing (plotline, scenario, whatever) that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?

You guys are coming up with awesome questions :) *pats everyone on the head*

37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? If so, which one?

I'll say it again lol Seven Days by Refuse 2 Lose. It would work as a BSB fic and a non BSB fic.

38) Going off of #9, what is one thing that annoys you most about fanfic authors? Why? (I figure, we’re all authors, so why not? I critique myself all the time!)

I'm not really sure if there's anything that bothers me about fanfic authors. I think it's an awesome thing we do and I can't down someone for doing it. I may not always agree with the way some people act, but it's all part of life I guess, right? lol

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?

I have to admit the second I read a girl's name in the summary I am turned off. It just tells me this girl is important enough to be a main character and that's not what i'm looking for when I read a BSB fanfic.

here're my contributions :D *off to read everyone's posts*

40) If you could make a trailer for one of your fics, which one would that be? Describe a little how this trailer would look like.

41) Relating to #37 here…which actors/actresses would you like to act out the main characters in this movie?

(LOL i just been on a movie site, so maybe that's what inspired these questions)

we ARE doing something fantastic, and you're absolutely right! it IS part of life, but, personally, i get annoyed when they stress exactly how much Nick loves Girl A ten times in one chapter. I love emotion, don't get me wrong...but sometimes repeating something more than twice in a chapter or two makes my nose wrinkle. but, it's probably something I've done and will do...and it's an annoyance that i have learned to live with. C'est la vie (ooh..six years of french later, i'm actually using it!)!

**Edit** Ok, I'm gonna change question 38 and say "What is one thing that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?

Oook here I go! Might take me all night, but I'm up for the challenge

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?
Not really... I mean my name on the boards is Mellz Bellz just cuz there are so many Mel's that write fan fics. Its just a nickname one of my friends started calling me and it kind of stuck.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)
Hmm... I'm not sure if I can think of a story I wish I'd written. I respect a lot of stories, but mostly because I couldn't write them quite like that. Dunno if I'd go as far as saying i wish I wrote a certain one though.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?
I've had some pretty out there ideas. In both the good and bad sense lol. I think Sexcapades is rather brilliant if I can toot my own horn (well and Laura's too) I also had a really awesome idea for lke a supernatural kind of story involving Nick and some girl to find themselves the last two people on earth, but that isn't my cup of tea when writing, so it'll prolly never get written

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?
"Don't Wanna Lose You Now." Not only was it my first real fic which is buried on my original site which maybe some day I'll share just to show how far a writer can come, but the plot was retarded. My main character of course was named Melissa. She met Nick in Cancun and fell n love in like 3 days and then she had brain cancer and stuff. It was just real sappy and in the end they got engaged after 3 months of knowing each other at the ripe age of 19 LOl

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?
I just get sick of the predictable "Boy meets girl. They fall in love. She gets pregnant. He cheats on her. She forgives him. Then they married." kind of story. Also a lot of best friend plots kind of irk me. I've used the friend thing in the past, but you have to put a new spin on it somehow.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?
I don't remember exactly LOL. I think I came across some of it and I thought hey I like to write and I can do this. It looked lke fun, so I gave it a whirl

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?
It could lead to something more. I know a lot of authors who use their fics as drafts to hopeful novels. Personally, for me its more of a hobby. I've always flirted with the idea of writing a novel on the side some day, but I'm not sure if I'm a good enough writer or if I have the paitence to write and rewrite and edit. So, for now its all in fun!

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?
Well if it ended tomorrow I'd be pissed that I didn't finish anything I've started. As of right now I think my writing is the best its ever been and I think I'd like at least one completed testemant to that.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?
Sometimes you have to spell things out to them word for word. Subtle clues just seem to fly right over their heads.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?
Good question! I think its fine to include him. He was and still is a HUGE part of the other guys lifes. I think  life after him in bsb is an interesting path to take with a story.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?
Slash cuz just the idea makes me wanna gag... And I guess fantasy cuz its just too complicated to me

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?
Not necessarily forced, but I definitely had ouside pressure urging me to write something that wasn't really in my comfort zone.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?
A lot of my earlier stuff cuz there's SUCH a difference. And prolly Strangers in the Night my Nick vizzy/vampire fic that was only 4 chapters. I'm ashamed of writing it lol. I found it not too long ago and parts of it made me blush now LOL

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?
All of my earlier work

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?
I don't think I can pick just one. There are SOOO many talented authors on there that I've read who I try to leave feedback for as much as I can

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
Sexcapades definitely. It's a lot more blunt and in your face then I'm used to, but its helped me be more relaxed in even other stories like Under my Skin. It's definitely helped me add more humor into my writing and not to be so shy lol

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
Hmm... I can't think of anyone on AC because i think most authors are recognized there in some form or another

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
Not that i can recall

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?
Descriptions kill me. Also minor things like overusing dialogue tags.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
I think I'm pretty good at developing characters and building a relationship between them. I also think I'm pretty good at dialogue flow between characters. I'm especially proud lately of the way that Alyssa and Nick seem to play off each other dialoguewise in UMS

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?
I suppose so

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)
That's a toughie... I'm not sure

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?
Probably... I can't see myself writing any other kind of fan fic besides BSB. Maybe i'd write original fiction (but BSB might still be the inspiration for my characters lol)

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)
BSB as normal everyday guys... They don't have to be anything special.

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)
Slash... No way I just can't lol Fantasy? Maybe with an experienced cowriter and a VERY simple plot lol

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
I write because I love it, but I'll admit that positive feedback definitely motivates me to write quicker. Otherwise I'd write VERY slowly probably. Seeing others become excited about my story definitely makes me wanna churn out more for them to talk about.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
Yea sorta... I kinda slacked off fiction for about a year or 2 about my sophmore and junior years of college. BSB wasn't doing much and the fan fic world was kina dead then

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
I dunno if I'd want to anyone to finish my stories. I think I'd leave them unfinished. Except sexcapades I'd prolly give to Teri to finish if she wanted

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
A creative writer who always offered help and support to fellow writers

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
Wow thats deep... I guess to entertain others. To share my ideas with others. To make them escape reality for a little bit.

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know uotside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?
It's a deep, dark, secret. Nobody knows beside people on the net, so feel damn special lol

 32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?
I think UMS since I'm the proudest of it and it is my most sucessful. Or maybe Quarter Life Crisis even though I just started it. It's supposed to be mirroring what is going on in my life currently, so that might be a cool choice

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Hmm... I dunno. I try not to judge a story by its summary. This isn't from the summary, but I'll admit when I first started reading Broken I thought it was goin to be boring and predictable and WHOA was I wrong LOL

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)
I'd be REALLY embarassed Lol

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?
LOL Hmm... I think I'd like Nick's reaction to Sexcapades. Of course I'd explain that its humor and I REALLY don't think thats the way he acts at all  ;) LOL

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.
Wow... Hmm I'm not sure there a lot out there

 37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? Again... Not sure. I alwas picture everything I read like a movie in my head

38) Going off of #9, what is one thing that annoys you most about fanfic authors? Why? (I figure, we’re all authors, so why not? I critique myself all the time!)
When they expect other authors to tell them where their story should go

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?
Any kind of slash I guess. If it sounds too teeny or too cliched

Guess I should try to contribute some questions although I doubt i'll be able to come up w/ 5 but we'll see...

43) What was the most messed up plot you've ever seen in a fan fiction?

44) Do you base your ideas off of real events that happen to the guys, or do you make things up?

45) How do you feel about integrating lyrics into fics. Good idea or bad idea?

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

I've stored that in my memory, and someday I'll take you up on that thought. ;)

1) Do you go by a pen name when you write? If so why did you choose it?
Yes I do. And ‘mersey’ is a short for ‘merseyside’ a place in Liverpool, and because I’m an avid fan of Liverpool FC. Yes, kind of a boring explanation there, lol.

2) Name a story you wish you had written and why (meaning a fanfic that already exists)
I wish I had written ‘Why…’ by Mare. (And I said this while reading the question and before seeing Mare’s answers). It’s a fic that made me laugh and cry, made me furious and confused (not by her writing though, lol) and made me want more.

3) What is the most creative idea you have ever had for a story?
I honestly don’t know. I don’t think I sit around and think okay, I think this is creative, I’ll go with this one. I’m not disciplined either, cause I don’t plan what I write, I just have a jist of the idea, see a beginning and an ending and just winged it in the middle and hope I get myself to the end. Having said that, and having read the answers from you guys here, I’d go with Finding Brotherhood.

4) What is the most cliched story you have written?

Oh goodness, lol. Perhaps On The Run? Back then I thought the idea of getting the guys suffered a bus crash and running in the woods chased by bad guys was good, and then of course I realised there had been more fics like that before I even thought of writing one, so that’s kind of clichéd right?

5) What is the most overused plot line out there in fanfic today?

To be honest, I’ve been very selective with the stuff I read these days. Also, I’m lazy and hardly go around looking for new fics to read (a bad habit I know) so I’m not sure what’s overused these days.

6 ) What started you on writing fan fiction?
When I found out it existed! I read all these amazing fics and couldn’t believe my eyes. I’ve always wanted to write something suspenseful/adventurous but figured why write something when you have no one to share it with right? I used to write for my own leisure but it kind of depressing as well, I like the idea of writing for someone else’s enjoyment. So yes, to finally realise I have a place where I can feel belong to, I decided I should join the club and start writing.

7 ) Is fan fiction more of a hobby or is it a stepping stone to something you want to persue realistically?
It’s a hobby. It’s hard to get anything published where I’m at. The kind of genre that attracts the public attention here are those that I’m not used to writing, so yeah, hobby it shall be then.

8 ) If your fan fiction career ended tomorrow, what would you regret?
I love how you refer to this as a career! It makes me feel like I’ve contributed to the society somehow, lol. I’d regret not finishing my stories to leaving behind the fandom, everything that co-exist within the fanfic community.

9 ) Is there anything that turns you off about fan fiction readers as a whole?
They don’t mind me much, I’d be glad if I get a handful of reviews for myself. So this doesn’t really turn me off just sometimes frustrates me, when a reader reviews and say ‘ok that kind of confused me but I like it’ and didn’t explain what was it that confuses them. It’s also like saying ‘ok I’m confused by your writing but I pity you so I’ll throw in a ‘I like it’ as well’.

10 ) What are your thoughts on including Kevin in a piece of fan fiction these days, assuming the piece is not an AU?
I really would like to encourage writers to keep on writing Kevin, whether he is still in BSB or not, where the fic is concerned. It’d also be nice to read fics centred on Kevin and how life is for him now that he’s no longer in BSB but still somehow incorporate the boys in it.

11) What's one genre you'd never write about & why?
Never say never. But closest to never would be anything rated NC17 and above.

12) Did you ever write a story not because you wanted too, but because you felt you HAD too [like, you were forced to write it]?
Forced as in a bad way? Okay nevermind, when have ‘forced’ been a good way (except for ‘may the force be with you’ that’s good right?)…hmmm…no, I don’t think so.

13) What's one story you've written that most people would be shocked to find?
Heh. I don’t think anyone has ever been shocked by my writing. We’re talking plot wise right? Cause if it’s mistakes wise, I’m sure I’ve shocked a lot of people with my grammar, tenses etc.

14) Do you have a story you've written & posted online, but will never post on absolutechaos because you're afraid of what people night think?
I have written, posted and took them offline because I’m afraid of what people might think of them (which means they seriously suck and are of total embarrassment to Mersey and her self-confidence).

15) Do you have a favourite absolutechaos author? If so, who is it & why?
Ok first of all, I’m not good with names, ask Mare, she’ll vouch for me. So while I’m always going for the old-timers (sorry guys but you do realise you’re all old-timers right? Lmao) like mare, chaos, refuse, Julie etc…I have found awesome authors here whom I’ve read and reviewed their stuff and considered them to be among my favourites. I just hardly read anymore and I wish I’d get back to reading more often and acknowledge these writers. Oh, and I do realise this question asked for ‘a fav author’ but I can’t just name one, lol.

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
Every time I tried to write a scene where it involves a place that actually exist. I have problems trying to sell it to the readers, I’m always doubting myself because I’ve never been there and I wonder if what I wrote is too little or too much. I did some googling for the places that the guys went to in ‘the house in crossgrate lane’ and I often find myself going ‘wtf is a Singaporean girl doing trying to write about a place in the UK she’s never been to?’ So yeah, it’s not really about a particular story that pulls me out of my comfort zone, it’s stuff like this that do me in, lol.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
Okay this is where I have to say again that it’s been a while since I read stuff from new writers so I can’t really point to one. Yes, I’ve a feeling I’m missing out on a lot of good fics out there.

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
Not that I remember right now…I don’t think so.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?

I need to be more disciplined and have some concrete plans for my fics and to be sure I see each of them through to the end. I’m guilty of not updating old fics.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
Oh dear…I really am not sure. I like to think that when write something, it connects to the readers in some way or form? Is that a skill?

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?
It depends really. I’ll most likely buy it if I know the author, as a way of supporting them. Someone I know actually planned on asking authors to submit their BSB fics and she’d get them printed out in a book form from a printing company, just for fun and keepsake and authors will have to pay for the printing costs but she kind of disappeared after a while so that thing never took off even though a lot of authors responded to the idea. Personally, I’d pay for that, for memory sake.

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)

Ok wow. I’d like Kevin in Grey’s Anatomy for a role as McGorgy to stomp out McDreamy and McSteamy. Although I think another name would be better since that one sounds pornish.

AJ to appear in Lost. Could be Charlie’s best nail polish buddy.

Howie to appear in Numb3rs. You know he’d be jealous to find out he’s not the only curly haired dude on the show.

Brian in Prison Break as himself, and having a conflict with doing what’s right and what’s wrong when he crossed paths with the Burrows.

Nick in Supernatural because a horror show? I bet he’d be in his element. Could be a ghost or something, lol.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?
I’ve written an SN fic and a Harry Potter fic but I don’t see myself writing more in those genres. I really need to get myself invested in the shows and really understand the characters to write more. So if I ever stop writing BSB, I might dabble in some other fandom but it wont be the same as BSB.

Where all the guys are some kind of animals. I dare Mare to write this.

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

Oh honey, I’m cheap. I’ll go pull one right out of my ass if they’re paying me for it!

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
it’s a mixture of everything really. But I realised I write best when my muse refuse to leave me alone and makes me do it. Write it down<I> now</I> and I obeyed.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
Wow…it’s been what? Almost a year since I’ve been actively updating any of my fics. I came back to post one shots when the muse came with something for me to write, other than that, I’ve been on hiatus. I just posted a new fic and the way things are going, it’d be multi-chaptered. I hope it’s a sign that I’m out of my funk but I shall not jinx myself so shutting up now.

While in hiatus, I do nothing much, continue reading fics that I’ve been keeping up with and hanging in there hoping for the best, lol.

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
They’d kill me for this, but I shall pass them to Mare and Maria. I’ll give mare Fear Factor (and she’d be happy cause there’s only 1 chapter left to that one) and The Kidnapping of Nick Carter and I’ll give Maria ‘Children Like Me’. The rest will have to be forever incomplete because there’re too many and it’s unfair to dump all of them to these girls, hehe.

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
I’d like to be remembered for my stories. Oh that Mersey girl? Yes, I remember that one fic of hers, I like it…ok seriously, #28 and #29 are scaring me! Lmao

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
my main goal is to be able to share what I write with everyone out there and hopefully touched them in some ways.

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know outside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?

It’s not a secret, some of my friends/family know about this. I don’t share my fics with them though, when they did read, it was because they visited my site and decided to read one. They don’t tell me what they think about this hobby of mine and I didn’t ask, lol.

32) Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?
Probably On The Run because it’s my first baby and I know I’d get a huge laugh when I read it again. Cheese anyone?

33) Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.
Not so much a terrible idea and I definitely didn’t scoff, but I just went ‘huh’ when I read the title ‘Mizpah’ from Mare. The summary didn’t give much away too. Not knowing what ‘Mizpah’ means, I skipped it a few times over a few weeks until one day I just decided you know what, I keep seeing you buddy, it’s like a sign trying to tell me ‘READ ME ALREADY DAMN IT!’ so I did and oh my God, it’d be the biggest mistake of my life if I had missed this!

34) If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be? (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)

I'd thank him for reading, asked him wtf is he doing surfing for fanfiction and then thanked him for the cute paramedic who had to resuscitate me (mouth to mouth, there's no other way!) after i hyperventilate d and died reading his email.

35) As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

LMAO! I’d give them the collab I did with mare and maria…5 backstreet boys in search of a plot. And hope we made them laugh (and cry).

36) Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.

Mel’s Tree by Mare. It’s a story that will touch the hearts, it’ll definitely make me cry. We need more movies like that. And its’ already a published novel.

37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? If so, which one?
I’m going to go with Chaos’ The End Of The World. I can see it in my head but I don’t know how to describe this, lol.

38) What is one thing that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?
When a BSB fic is written in the POV of a girl. When the first sentence to the first chapter is about 3-5 girls getting ready and comparing outfits and rushing themselves because Brian, one of the girl’s cousin, is coming and he’s bringing his friends and they can’t afford to be late. Yup. Those kinds. When it becomes the girls’ story more than the boys itself, I usually give up, lol.

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?

I have to go with mare in this one. And it’s not even about having girls in the fic or it being a romance fic cause I find Julie’s Broken an excellent example of a fic that balance drama/angst/romance very well and I enjoyed that. It’s just when a girl’s name is in the summary, I tend not to read the fic.

40) If you could make a trailer for one of your fics, which one would that be? Describe a little how this trailer would look like.
Ok so I’m stuck at my own question, wtf. I’d probably go with Darla. It’d show Nick and his family in good times with his voice over talking about how bright his future is, that he’s blessed, and then having it all turned upside down when he got into the accident and was diagnosed with the disease later. Then it’d show the Darla house and the conspiracies around the whole thing and the town and how now it’s up to them to tell the truth. Woohoo that came out of nowhere, lol.

41) Relating to #37 here…which actors/actresses would you like to act out the main characters in this movie?
The End Of The World involved all five guys so I'd prefer the actors to be new actors, undiscovered talents you know? lol...Kevin's character could be played by Kevin since he wont be busy with the group anymore and if he's not busy with any other projects...i'd definitely get Kevin :D

Wow, this took me a few hours! I love this :D

someone mentioned abt writing a fic in the POV of Baylee and seeing the world of the BSB through his eyes...sorry i forgot who wrote that but i just want to say i find that idea very unique and can be very funny and interesting.  ;)

we ARE doing something fantastic, and you're absolutely right! it IS part of life, but, personally, i get annoyed when they stress exactly how much Nick loves Girl A ten times in one chapter.

Oh that's a good idea. See, I thought you meant actual authors lmao this is much better. I can answer that one now and not feel like a bitty.

43) What was the most messed up plot you've ever seen in a fan fiction?

Messed up? I'm not really sure. I mean there are a few stories I read and went wtf? but it wasn't really because it was messed up. More so that it was all over the place and made little to no sense. I think the weirdest plots I have seen but have never read are the ones where one of the boys is actually pregnant. What's that all about? lol

44) Do you base your ideas off of real events that happen to the guys, or do you make things up?

I do a little of both. For Why blah blah blah it's based mainly on real events which I have fictionalized but most of my suspense/action stuff is all made up.

45) How do you feel about integrating lyrics into fics. Good idea or bad idea?

I'm not a big fan of lyrics in songs. I usually end up not reading those fics in the end unless they are an integral part of the plot. Lyrics work as an introduction I think but I hate when they are randomly stuck in the middle of a chapter. To me it's like adding more words just to make a school report longer remember doing that? Dinosaurs are very very very very very very old and very very very very very dead! lmao

LMAO okay now we're getting a little confusing. Poor 42 :( sorry buddy...maybe next survey.

the new 38 I can answer lol yay!

38) What is one thing that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?

The example you just used is what bothers me most. I am not a big fan of stories where the author is the main character. Especially when love scenes are involved lol it's like uh...I don't want to know about you and Nick getting it on in the shower, save that for your diary, but seriously it doesn't bother me too much because like I said numerous times before, I skip those fics in the first place. lol

32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?

"Broken" because I feel it's my best-written work to date (not counting its sequel, which is probably a little better in terms of writing), and it is a good example of my strengths and interests as a writer, and on a personal level, it was written during a really important time of change in my life - my senior of high school and freshman year of college.  And in an odd coincidence, certain changes Nick underwent in that story parelleled the changes in my life at the time.  I will always have a lot of nostalgia for Broken.

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

It took me years to give "Between the Lines" a chance.  It's an AU, which I tend to not go for, and the Boys are baseball players, and I just did NOT think I would be interested in that that scenario, but I finally made myself really read it for Mare's fanfic of the month group last year, and it is SUCH a good story!!  I loved it, and I wish I had read it earlier.  Now I know why it's a favorite of so many.

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)

I would be mortified LOL.  But I guess it would be kinda cool to have a Backstreet Boy email me!

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

Code Blue because it's an AU, so I would feel better about taking liberties, and there's not really any Backstreet torture in it (yet?), or Not Another Teenybopper Fanfic, cause it's a comedy, so anything goes, and there's nothing to be embarassed of.

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.

"Happenstance" by Bianca already reads like a Nicholas Sparks book; it could easily be made into a romance novel.  And an awesome movie too.  "Faceless" by Jaydee would make a cool movie or book too.  I love the plot and subplots of that one.

37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? If so, which one?

See above.

38) What is one thing (plotline, scenario, whatever) that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?

I don't like when stories start off describing the female lead and how awesome she is, and I get the impression that every other character is going to love this chick and the whole story will focus on her, not the Boys.  Basically, Mary Sues.

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?

Spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation errors.  If the author can't even string a coherent, correctly-written summary together, that tells me she can't write and that her story is not worth reading because all of the mistakes would bug me too much to enjoy it.

40) If you could make a trailer for one of your fics, which one would that be? Describe a little how this trailer would look like.

For lack of a better story, I'll go with Broken.  If it had a trailer, it would start with some slow-mo footage of Nick singing on stage with the movie voiceover guy in the background doing my tagline... "Nick Carter was on top of the world...  But three simple words sent him plummeting to rock bottom..." and it would cut to a clip of Dr. K saying, "Nick, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but..." and then it would cut off, fade in and out from shots of angsty-faced Nick, with nothing but breathing for noise, and then the rest would basically be a montage of Nick doing angsty facial expressions, with "My Immortal" playing in the background.  Hahaha.  It would be the kind of movie I would jump to see, while all my friends would be like, "Uh, that looks way too depressing.  Let's go see that new romantic comedy with Hugh Grant."  Ugh.

41) Relating to #37 here…which actors/actresses would you like to act out the main characters in this movie?

It's kinda hard to picture anyone but Nick in Nick's role.  But if I couldn't cast Nick, I'd get Leonardo DiCaprio because he's my favorite actor and is great at dark, dramatic movies, or Ryan Phillippe or Hayden Christensen because I think they'd both be good at the brooding, angsty facial expressions.  Oh, and they're hot.

For Claire, I think my first choice would be Scarlett Johansson... if not her, then Bryce Dallas Howard, based on looks, or I'd take a risk and give Anna Faris a serious movie role.

43) What was the most messed up plot you've ever seen in a fan fiction?

Gotta go with Mare here and say the M-preg (male pregnancy) stuff.  All I have to say to that is W. T. F.  I read one where Nick was pregnant with Howie's baby, and that's probably the most f-ed up thing I've ever read.  I don't get that fascination.  It's right up there with foot fetishes for me.

44) Do you base your ideas off of real events that happen to the guys, or do you make things up?

I usually make things up.  Some real events come into play in my stories; unless they're AUs, I try to set them in reality as much as I can.  But plotwise, I don't usually base whole storylines on real events that have happened to them.

45) How do you feel about integrating lyrics into fics. Good idea or bad idea?

I never used to put a lot of lyrics in my stories, unless the song was actually playing in the story, but I started doing it with Broken because there were just some lyrics that fit SO WELL with what I was writing.  So now I do use them.  For me as a writer, it makes the scene more powerful to have a song accompanying it.  As a reader, though, I have to admit I usually just ignore the lyrics, breeze on past them so I can keep reading the story LOL, so maybe I'm a hypocrite.  I think they mean more to the writer than the reader.

omg Julie, you're cracking me up! Well, it's not supposed to be funny and i didnt really crack up, i was grinning actually, because that trailer right there? I can see it in my head! Seriously, that'd make such an awesome trailer! I've seen other fandoms where authors actually make (or readers actually made them one) a trailer for their fic, which is understandable i guess when they have clips of the shows to use for it, and sometimes i wish we can do that with BSB, but that aside...I'd really love to see this trailer made, if ever there's a way to make it happen!

I give you (not that you need one) Nick's stamp of approval on the choices of male actors to play his role :D I'm not picky with the girls...it'd be a trip to see Anna Faris pulling this off though.

and just LOL at m-preg. I totally didn't remember that one exist. And i agree, it's seriously f-ed up!

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?

Hell yes!!!!! Heck, I'd hope to be the one publishing them! Lol.

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)

Law & Order: SVU or CSI: Miami - & I'd want for either Brian or Kevin to be on them. Or all five. Lol.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?

I'd just continue on with my Law & Order: SVU story & all my Ninja Turtle stories, & the other fandoms I've written in as well-lol.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)

BSB as firefighters! Firefighters are usually pretty damned hot! Lol. And I'll never understand how they can run into a burning building while everyone else is running out. Takes a special kind of person to be able to do that.

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

I don't really like writing visuals, but I will if I have too. I wrote one once, but nobody ever saw it & it's long gone now as my very old laptop fried & I never dared to save it. And vampires - I don't mind role playing them as vamps, but I could never write a fic based on that, I don't think.

32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?

Hmm....Probabl y Gone Without Goodbye, Concrete Angel [both versions], Who Needs The World, Why Can't I Be There Where You Are, or Elliot's Girl. And notice all but the last have songs in them-haha.

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

Not Your Average Cinderella Story by Honey. I scoffed 'cause it didn't itnerest me, and then the other night it just did for some reason & now I'm screaming for her to hurry up & write more - lol. Which, she did! Thanks gal!

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)

"SHIT! Which have you read!?!?!" or "OMG!!! OMG!!!!" or "Whatcha think? Have a fave? Which one?" LOl.

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

Gone Without Goodbye & to be honest, Brian already has it, I just dunno if he's actually read it nor what he thinks of it if he has-lol. Someone stuck it in their fanbook for me & gave it to him - hehe. Never met the guy, but he knows about me -  ;D

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.

Importance of Fly Fishing [I'm obsessed, okay? It's my fave fic, & I'm gonna endorse it-lol). Probably be better as a book, rather than a movie. But if it was a movie & Kevin played in it Hell yeah! I'd be in the front row & first in line! Lol.

43) What was the most messed up plot you've ever seen in a fan fiction?

I've read the male pregnancy ones - they're odd, but I think people must have seen that movie *Junior* with Danny DeVito & Arnold Schwartzenager . Which, was actually a pretty good/funny movie. Lol. And 'For The Fans' [fic I was lookin' for] is pretty crazy. Some psycho dude doin' psycho things to fans 'cause his daughter's a fan. Pretty scary. Keeps yah hooked, but it was kinda scary & made yah hope to God it never happened/happens.

44) Do you base your ideas off of real events that happen to the guys, or do you make things up?

Little bit of both really. Mostly made up though, when I think about it. But sometimes, bits of me kinda slip into A.J.'s character-lol.

45) How do you feel about integrating lyrics into fics. Good idea or bad idea?

I've written shit loads of song fics - what do you think? Lol. I love 'em & enjoy 'em - long as they're written in a nice enough way.

16) What story pulled you out of your writing comfort zone and why?
Just Another Day, its in 1st person POVs (switches from Nick to Cally, but you can tell the difference easily), when i write in 3rd, its almost not AU, and its romance. Its me challenging myself lol.

17) Name a relatively unknown writer who you feel needs to be recognized, one of her/his fics and why.
Lucky, she writes Orlando Bloom fanfic but her stories are just amazing I think. http://wicked-muse.livejournal.com/

18.) Has a music video inspired one of your stories? How?
Yes, Larger than Life inspired Rebirth (along with the movie Titan A.E but anyway lol) oddly even though you can't tell at ALL in the fic lol. Except for the fact Kevin's the pilot.

19.) What skill do you feel you need to work on as a writer?
More diciplined, definitely.

20.) What do you feel is your best skill as a writer?
I'd like to think I'm really good with characters, I hate one dimmensional characters so I give them backgrounds as soon as I can, to make them real and give them quirks. I also like to think I think pretty outside of the box for a writer lol.

21) If someone started professionally publishing Backstreet novels (multi-genre; anything from suspense to action to romance), would you be likely buy them?

LOL it would depend on the plot, cause I'm kind of picky. Obviously the writing skill would be validated by the fact it was published, but if the plot intrigued me, hell yeah lol

22) On which TV show would you most want to see the BSB guest star--either as themselves or as characters on the show? (Can have them all on the same show, or if prefer they’re each guest staring on different shows--which one stars on which show?)

hahaha I would love them to be on Heroes, or Angel, or Buffy, take your pick lol.

23) If you tired of writing BSB, do you think you would continue to write fanfiction for another fandom, or would it likely be the end of your fanfic “career”?

I don't think I would, I'd prolly hop to Original Fiction. I've dabbled in Buffy, and added Orlando Bloom to a few fics, but all I've done is BSB so I doubt I'd keep doing fanfic.

24) What Alternate Universe would you most want to see a story about? (examples: BSB as doctors, as firefighters, as police officers, as squirrels (hmm actually I challenge anyone to write that one!)

Secret Agents, oh wait, doing that LOL. Something with them in roles like in the show Heroes, now that'd be pretty awesome.

25) Going back to question# 11. What would it take for you to reconsider writing a fic of that dreaded genre? (i.e. Would you if challenged? Would you for money? For a best friend’s birthday? Under absolutely no circumstances?)

I cannot write slash, at all lmao. So yeah, nothing could get me to try.

26) What influences you to continue writing? Is it reader support, number of reviews, your own determination, or something else? Why does it influence you?
a mixture of all of it.

27) Was there ever a time you felt that you could no longer write fan fiction and took a "hiatus"? What did you do during that time?
No, there have been times I've put fics on hold cause I couldn't write them, but I always try to now and then cause I hate letting idead die.

28) If for some reason, due to circumstances beyond your control, you were forced to give up your fan fiction career, who would you want to finish your incompleted works?
my friend Lucky, she gets my stories best cause she writes a little out there herself hehe.

29) If you could no longer write fan fiction, what is the one thing you would like to be remembered for?
I'd love to be remembered as a good writer, lol but although I've been at this since 14, I'm pretty invisible LOL so who knows what I'd be remembered for.

30) What is your main goal in your writing? Do other people influence this goal, or is it more of a singular thing?
to write for me and make a story that others enjoy as well as myself.

31) Do you share your fan fiction with the people you know outside of the internet? Or is it a secret part of you that only us special people get to see?
hahaha HELL NO lol

32)  Kind of relating to #29, if you were asked to select one of your fanfics to be put in a time capsule and preserved, which one would you choose and why?

Either my collab Rebirth, or one of my own, As Reality Crumbles, its not that far along, and its dark, but I'm pretty proud of it.

33)  Name a story you read the summary of or heard a synopsis of and scoffed, thinking it sounded like a terrible idea, and then read, only to be pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

Broken, I thought it was going to be far too cliched but it got recommended to me by my friend Summer, who knew I was fic hunting. So not what I thought it'd be LOL.

34)  If one of the Backstreet Boys emailed you and said that he had stumbled onto your site/fanfics, what would your reaction be?  (Let's say you know for sure that it's the real him, not a poser.)

"Oh...shit...yo u guys didn't read one called As Reality Crumbles did you?!" Then I'd prolly pass out lol.

35)  As a follow-up to #34, if you had the chance (or were forced) to give one of your stories to the Boys to read, which one would it be and why?

Rebirth, or Code Blue, both safe, both AUs, neither romance, and neither torture anyone lmao. They'd be safe.

36)  Name a story that you think would make an excellent book (as in a published novel) or movie, and tell us why you think so.
East Water Convergence, its so entailed and has symbolism out the ying yang, and well developed characters and there were a TON in there. I could totally see it as a book or movie, had it not been stopped.

37) Is there any story that you think could make a great screenplay for a movie (if it were made into non-BSB or if it’s an AU)? If so, which one?
East Water Convergence, seriously, it was awesome lol.

38) What is one thing that shows up in stories that bothers you (for example, Nick falls in love *author's name* or teeny plots, etc)?
When the girl is Mary Sue looking in romances, the perfect model type that is supposed to be hollywood looking but "normal". Which is why I started Just Another Day. Also, when the cliches are insanely obvious.

39) When you read a synopsis for a story, what would make you not want to read the story (i.e. what about the story idea would turn you away from it)? Why?
The words "romance" in the genre lol, unless its from an author who I already am a fan of. I'm extremely picky with that cause most of it is overdone. I tend to read more suspense, action, supernatural, horror

40) If you could make a trailer for one of your fics, which one would that be? Describe a little how this trailer would look like.
Oh god LOL. Lets see Rebirth since I just updated this one... probably show attacks, centering down on the main band of people, with the voice over..."Sometimes you can't choose your own fate..." then it centers on the space station being destroyed and the few who survive... "but it can always choose you." And then it focuses on Nick, Orlando, Brian, Rhade and Jersey...fade to black.

41) Relating to #37 here…which actors/actresses would you like to act out the main characters in this movie?
See the banner for it LOL. Orlando, the girl who was Alice in Resident Evil, Monica Bellucci, and if I couldn't have Nick, Ryan Philippe, and if I couldn't have Brian, Shane West.

43) What was the most messed up plot you've ever seen in a fan fiction?

Nick and Angel visual. Yes, ew. Incest. EW! lol

44) Do you base your ideas off of real events that happen to the guys, or do you make things up?

Nope, I kind of did in Just Another Day with a character named "London Miffton" which is really Paris Hilton, but at the time I had considered making this Original Fiction, so thats why its not Paris. But in it, Nick had the horror break up he did with Paris, so sort of did there. But its not common, I totally make everything up LOL

45) How do you feel about integrating lyrics into fics. Good idea or bad idea?

I like to post lyrics I feel fit before chapters, but I don't do that with all my stories. So I'm for it, if it fits.

omg Julie, you're cracking me up!

LOL!!  Thanks! :P   I was cracking myself up when I was writing that, just imagining it.  I could probably make one just by using footage from Incomplete and I Still, hahaha.  Oh Nick and his angsty facial expressions...

someone mentioned abt writing a fic in the POV of Baylee and seeing the world of the BSB through his eyes...sorry i forgot who wrote that but i just want to say i find that idea very unique and can be very funny and interesting.  ;)

Ah thanks, Mers... I think that was me that mentioned that, unless I wan't the only one. I'm glad you like the idea... maybe i'll have to actually start writing that one... Anyway I've since read one story that was from Baylee's perspective as well. I think it was called "Musings of A Backstreet Baby" (forgive me if that's not 100% correct) I don't remember who its by but I remember loving it! So cute and hilarious. Close to what I was thinking and yet not quite the same. Mine would be more like a "Hardy Boys" type thing but with Baylee as the detective and the setting being backstage with the boys... I would love to write it but so far haven't made it passed the planning stages. but check out that other Baylee story! Its on AC and its adorable!

OMFG! Someone ACTUALLY wrote that?! OMG... Yea... Words cannot even describe how disturbed I am right now lol

I once read an Aaron & Angel one....there wasn't very much detail when they got it on though. Just sort of mentioned..... I agree incest is GROSS - but in a fictional world, well, I read V.C. Andrews books & pretty much most of them have incest of some sort. But she does write about stuff you wouldn't usually read elsewhere.
