Title: Mare's April Fools challenge
Post by: mare on April 02, 2011, 12:55:51 PM: Hey all!

So this one is pretty easy. Your challenge this month is to write something completely out of the box for you.

For instance, if you write nothing but romance, give us a thriller.

If you write nothing but suspense, show us your softer side.

If you are a bad writer, write something good lol (I keed I keed!)

Just don't be yourself!

~ Write in a genre you are not comfortable with
~ Only a one shot (No more than one chapter)
~ No banners!

That's about it!

That was a fun challenge, and I actually did that one! We'll see if I can get anything written for this... as always, I make no promises LOL.

Post by: mare on April 24, 2011, 02:57:38 PM: I'm thinking of writing a short story as Leighanne. That would be a huge out of the box moment for me, but doubtful it will happen. maybe a short romance told from the female POV. No clue. I did want to try it though.

and just FYI everyone starting in June, this challlenge will be a compition where you will vote for the winning story and that one will instantly be nominated for best challenge story at the Felix awards.

Just on figuring out what is out of the box for you? If you normally write Nick, write a Howie story (they make those?) or maybe a horror or science fiction short since you normally write romance!

My out of the box things were writing in AU, Action and not using dialogue. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I also used this as practice because I have a multi chapter pirate hunting story planned out.
