If you could pick one of your stories to be featured story of the month, which one would it be and why?
This might help us when it comes time to pick stories to feature from month to month. I really do want to give as many people a chance to be highlighted as possible and since Julilly isn't around and Chaos is MIA, it'll make my life a lot easier. lol
If you would rather mention a story that doesn't belong to you that's perfectly fine as well. Especially if you've already gotten a chance to be featured.
I can only speak for myself when I say what I look for is a story that is almost done with an author who will appreciate being put in this position. For instance if you mention a story that's only 2 chapters long, i'm not going to pick it unless that's all there is to the story. Or if you pick someone who doesn't post here, doesn't respond to their feedback and doesn't seem to appreciate their readers in general, i'll most likely pass on that person. (See Mare's pet peeves lol)
Other than that, go nuts and let me know what you think.

I can't really think of one of my own stories, but I agree with Mel about either of Julie's Broken or BMS stories. Also, Mare, ANY of your wonderful tales would be very deserving. And, of course, one of my very, very favorite stories: Finding Brotherhood from Mersey.

Broken I love as well but we have already featured that one on AC before the forum opened. I think for those it would be nice to refeature some of the older ones because we never had a venue to discuss them, although we did also discuss Broken on FFF so Julie's been down my Oprah road before but of course I am keeping it on the list of possibilities. lol

It was, but it seemed like several of the more recent featured stories disappeared from that list the last time Chaos revamped/moved the site.

But I'd toss "Pandora's Box" out there for you.
*sigh* And now I feel selfish because I didn't name someone else... :-[ For everybody on here, I think they are all amazing authors and all deserve to be featured. :) Though I can't think of a particular story I'd recommend.....

Here Dee. I'll follow your lead so you don't feel like the only one. If I had to pick something of mine I'd probably say "Not Your Average Cinderella Story". It's not my most popular, but I feel it's my best work so far.
Otherwise, I would love to see either "Learning to Trust" by Sweet18_2003. I don't knw if she's on this board yet, but it's a really good story. Or, anything by Sarah. (starbeamz2) My favorite is "Once Upon A Time" but it's not finished. Though everything of hers is wonderful so, anything you went with would make me happy. :)

Yea Sarah's stuff is good too although I haven't yet gotten a chance to read Once Upon a Time. I love Proving Them Wrong although I am pretty behind on that one too :-[

I don't know which one of mine I'd pick, possibly SWIB, I think it's my best work so far, and it's sequel is coming along nicely but it's hard to think about my stories that way ya know? Another story I'd love to see as story of the month is Proving Them Wrong by Sarah...I absolutely adore this story it's just amazing.

I love your stuff, so of course I'd root for you! Of my stories, I'd definitely rather have Proving Them Wrong because Kelly's just being wonderful for loving Once Upon A Time. It's one of those stories that I started and then ended up not enjoying, so that's a no-no as I'm only finishing it because I hate leaving something hanging. So, I guess, of mine, Proving Them Wrong would be my choice mostly because it's the one that I've spent the longest amount of time writing (8 1/2 months LOL)

Um... either Divisions Of Reality even though it starts out kinda not as good as I currently write, it does get better and I think it shows my growth and has a good plot. It was started in 03 so yeah lol. (it was more a side project when it started, hence the long span of time lol)
Rebirth even though its a collab cause I think its a good story and I love writing it.
Just Another Day: because even though its slightly fluffy (now... just wait). I feel its not cliched and that I portray my characters well.
And stories not by me...
well lol I'd say Mare's "Why I'd Do It All Again..."
Mersey's "Darla" cause I think its a good story still.
By My Side by Julie since I know Broken already was...
I'd also say Code Blue but that's already been... that and technically I help write that :p lol.

to answer the writing question AIL took me a year and 3 months, it's sequel SWIB took me a solid year, KDL almost a year for 3 chapters how sad is that? Lmao just haven't been very inspired to write on that one. Always Something is definitely going to be the best of the series, thanks to my awesome beta readers Mel and Presley. Mel saved my last chapter, honestly without her input it would have totally sucked!

I think honestly it's hard to decide on whose going to be next but I think it's a great opportunity for stories to get noticed especially ones like Mel's, Mare's, Julie's, Sarah...etc... there's one thing I've always loved about the fan fic community is that we're good about recognizing the good stories, while some can be overrated (won't mention the one i'm thinking of but Mel you know EXACTLY which one I'm talking about) but yeah the good stories with a good plot like UMS, or Broken or any other aforementioned author is definitely deserving of the featured title

I would absolutely be honored to have my story, "A Different Man" featured as the story of the month!
I've been a member of AC for quite some time now, although I am new to the community and the forums part of it. I look forward to posting and sharing comments and ideas with other others and readers. It's great to have a community to belong to where people share the same interests.
My story "A Different Man" has been in the works for 2 years in just a few days. I remember the day I got the idea for this story and I've been a slave to it ever since! Lol.
Anyway, my story has everything you are looking for in a featured story. I'm currently working on Chapter 98 and my readers need not worry that I won't finish the story. I'm too attached to the characters to just let them go.
Also, I try to proof read everything before it gets posted, and if I do happen to let a mistake slip onto the site, I correct it as soon as I know about it. I try to respond to the feedback my readers leave, although I can't always respond to each of them every time. I appreciate any comments, good and constructive critisism and feedback that I receive.
I love the opportunity to post my stories on AC and I thrive off the immediate feedback when a new chappie is posted. I'm also the author of a published fictional story and I love the experience that brought, but it can't compare to getting immediate responses from your readers as you work through a story.
Anyway, I hope you'll consider the story. I think my readers would agree that it's worth looking at.

I agree...lol I bet it's a lil scary! But yeah having your work being the topic of discussion I bet makes you feel even more hyper critical of yourself. Or maybe that's just me lol talking to my betas alone makes me reconsider things some times lol But then again without my betas I'd never get any writing done! lol

Humm...I can't think of any of my stories because most of them are in the middle and I have a ways to go...but I really think that Honey's "Searching For Mercy" should be featured...cau se it's just awesome and if you haven't read it (Which I'm most certain you all have) you should check it out!!! ;D :D

This is such a hard thing to choose... I think for me it would have to be either 525,600 Minutes (which is incomplete) or Someone's Miracle (which is complete) -- I've gotten a good response to both stories and they're both stories that I've really enjoyed writing.
As far as other members stories -- a lot of them have already been featured (Love of a Child, Children Like Me, If Tomorrow Never Comes)
But some that I would like to see featured;
Sexcapades -- Melaura
Not your Average Cinderella Story -- Honey
How to Save a Life -- Pengi (because seriously that story needs to be updated!)

So apparently, most of my faves have already been featured, so...I will say that my story, Casual, should be featured. It is still in progress...and I had no idea how getting featured worked, so Teri filled me in and I found this spread. I am still finding my way around the boards.
It feels weird to say why you think you should be featured, so here is the conversation Teri and I had about it:

Guys, keep those requests coming because once again i'm looking for stories to feature, although I have to say I am disheartened by the lack of participation when it comes to the threads. It's kind of like "Hey feature me but i'm not going to bother going into anyone else's thread when they are featured." It's kind of pointless to feature people if no one participates during the month.
I know some of you rock at coming into the threads and putting in your two cents but when I pick stories it's based on a lot of things, one of which is how well received the story is by the AC community. If you read the story it takes two seconds to come in and say something about it. If you haven't read it yet, it still is easy to come in and comment generally about the author (If you have read something else by him or her) or to ask a general question.
Just something to keep in mind.
Another thing to keep in mind is "Hey, cool congrats!" doesn't really count as participation either lol

I do apologize for not participating as much as I should. But I do read many of the featured stories to see the writing style and have found some new favorites. I blame time and school for consuming much of my energy. And I realize alot of us are in school and working and all that. While I can't speak for everyone here that is why I haven't been around much. I barely have enough time to read my favorite stories anymore! And that's really sad!

I might also feature some of the old stories that Julilly has been archiving because they deserve it as well even though there might not be as much, if any author participation. You can recommend those too.

You should read Casual...it's great! But you also need to read ITNC! ;) I just started reading Ray of Hope last night and I like what I have read so far. Though I would like to slap Nick upside the head. LoL.

I have well am reading LATB and Ray of Hope I personal Pick those too. LATB is so good and Ray is awesome. But I do agree Nick needs a smack or a kick in the pants one or the other LOL.

I'll toss "A Different Man" out there for consideration.
It's a long story, and I've been writing it for a few years now, but it is nearing the end and I'll be sad to see the characters go, but happy to have the story completed.
I haven't always been the best at reading on the forums, because I feel that the people who read my stories would prefer I spent my time updating, but I am trying to be on here more and more. Also, I try to respond to as many reviews as I can. I thrive on feedback. It's so great to get such immediate responses from readers like this. It's something that I miss when I write original fiction.
Anyway, just a thought.
