I realized that I started this process in May of last year! It seems I'm running a little behind! :P
The first thing I'm wanting to know from everyone is what did you think of last year?
Some people gave me suggestions for categories and those are all under consideration but now that there has been two years of judged awards and a year of reader's choice I'm wondering what you all liked best?

It was definitely easier on you guys to have done voting. No slacker judges lol. But part of me really liked getting the score sheet that broke down everything about your story.
I'm of no help at all. :P

I voted Reader's Choice because it seemed a lot easier doing it strictly by voting last year. I was one of the judges the two years we did it that way and saw not only how time-consuming a process it was, but also how tough it was for you guys to keep reliable judges. We had a few people bail, which made more work for you, trying to pick up their slack at the last minute.
I think voting, as long as you have a cheat-proof poll like you did last year, is the way to go. It's quick, it's easy, it's fair, as long as people can only vote once, and it reflects the readers' opinions on what is the best in each category.

Hey people in the duel thread! Come vote in this poll for this year's Felix Awards! :) Some of the stories you are challenged to read might be winners in a few months...

Last year was the first time I experienced the Felix Awards and I liked the way the voting was done so I voted for Reader's Choice. :)
Are the Felix Awards by the end of the year? I forgot when FA 2010 was lol. If it is, it's not my number 1 reason to continue my current story but it would gimme some extra motivation. :) Going for another nomination hehe

Usually we start the nominating process in the fall, voting will be in December (this may have to be reworked a bit because of so many extra people going on the cruise) and then the awards show is held in early January.

I am excited for the awards this time around since last year I was still new to AC and didn't know anything about it. Reader's Choice sounds like a good idea!

I'm pretty certain that there are more than 6 people who participated in the Felix Awards last year! :P

I don't know how this works. Where is the poll? I wasn't part of the awards last year unfortunately.

The poll is at the top of this page, but maybe it doesn't show up on your phone? The question is, would you rather have the winners decided by judging, voting (reader's choice), or a combination of both? If you can't vote on the poll, you can probably just post your choice here, if you have a preference, and Julilly can either add it to the poll manually or just take it into consideration with the rest.

Or perhaps we should start out more simply by asking how many of you want a Felix Awards? Because voting, judged etc,... it's a lot of work to put together and if people aren't even willing to vote in here what's to say you will for awards time. So if you guys really do want this to happen please vote in the poll or put your two cents in here.

I think a combination of both readers votes and a panel would be a great idea.

Aw c'mon people, vote! The Felix Awards are fun; I hope we do them again. It's nice to have an annual fanfic awards that actually follows through with choosing winners. The Felix Awards are the only one I know of these days that does that. And the big production awards show always makes for an entertaining night!

I like the felix awards. I think it's fun. I didn't like it was done last year but the year before was really good.

I told Jullily I don't think we should even consider doing this if we don't have at least 15 - 20 votes. She works her ASS off for these awards. It's not worth it if no one cares.

Some people just may not care which way winners are decided. (If you're one of those people, you should post and say so, or just vote for both!)

Maybe it would also help to put an announcement on the main page of AC, so people who were involved with the awards last year but don't check the forum regularly will know to come over and vote.

I know i'm more anal about these things than Julilly is, but seriously just looking at how many people are on this forum alone, we shouldn't even have to say anything on the main page. I mean how many people are taking part in this reading challenge? How many people are part of the ACBL? It'll take any of you two seconds to come in here and vote or at least drop in and say "YAY Felix Awards! I don't care how you do it because you guys are all sorts of awesome!"
If the regulars don't put forth the effort, why should we? That's where i'm coming from. But like I said, i'm the anal one. LOL

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not sure why more people who do come to the forum regularly haven't voted or said anything. I know more than 9 people have to care; remember how many people were on here for the awards ceremony last year??
Some of those people may not be around anymore, and we have newer people who weren't a part of it last year, so maybe they don't know enough to care, but still... I agree with you; there should be more than 9 who want to see the awards again.

just voted! I haven't experience the awards yet but all of my favorites stories or the ones I find interesting has a Felix award. So I'm really excited for this one. :)

I think doing both would be cool. Might be more work though. Getting to give a peoples choice award and a judged award just sounds awesome to me. My two cents anyway... for what its worth.
