Title: Things we don't know about you
Post by: mare on November 17, 2013, 01:04:58 PM
Yes, I am stealing this from facebook and yes you might have even done it on there but I thought this might be fun for our forum.

So tell us anywhere from 5 to 25 facts we do not already know about you that may surprise us. They can be writing related or totally random, your choice.

:)

Just trying to get some life back into this place. Fall and Winter are the dead zones in here.

OK here's a few to start it off...

1. My favourite chocolate is Toblerone
2. First band I saw live was INXS
3. I'm useless with directions and end up lost on road trips, even with a sat nav!
4. I have a huge DVD collection
5. My first crush was John Taylor from Duran Duran
6. I'm terrified of spiders and wasps

I HATE spiders too! I also have a horrible sense of direction and my first crush was Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran lol

A few from me:
1.) My first (and only!) piece of published fiction was a short story in an educator's magazine when I was in second grade.
2.) The only degree I have beyond a high school diploma is a doctorate. Most pharmacy schools don't require a bachelor's before admission as long as you have so many hours and all the required pre-pharmacy curriculum.  So, if the pharmacist's market drops out from under me, I've got nothing to fall back on. ???
3.) My older brother is also a pharmacist and graduated three years ahead of me from the same school, though I decided that was what I wanted to do way before he did.
4.) My childhood best friend and I still keep in touch.  She and I have the same first name and the same initials.  It was very confusing back in school.
5.) I hate cooked carrots.  I like raw ones just fine.
6.) I used to be in a show choir in high school, but they lost their funding from the board of education years before Glee came out and show choirs became trendy :(
7.) The mother of my best friend from pharmacy school taught Kevin Richardson in high school.
8.) My dad coached high school girls basketball for 16 years.  I always sucked at basketball.
9.) I met my husband when I was 15 and he was 22.  We started dating when I was 17 and he was 24.  It was scandalous ;)
10.) On the way to my first Backstreet Boys concert back in 1999, we hit a deer and totaled our car.  Still made it to the concert, though. :)

^ I love cooked carrots! And yay to show choirs but boo to funding!

Poor deer :(

I feel like everyone knows a lot about me already so I will try to come up with new facts people may not know. lol

1) I am left handed but consider myself ambidextrous since I write on the chalkboard with my right hand...weird, I know!

2) I absolutely love to cook

3) If really given the opportunity I could be a hermit. I hate leaving my apartment. Sometimes I think I'm agoraphobic.

4) My three biggest fears are popping sounds, water fountains (not the kind you drink out of, the other kind) and robots!

5) When I was in second grade I scored 12th grade reading levels so I was always separated from the rest of my class during reading time. I had to do 'independent' reading while everyone else got to get into groups. I used to hate it and cry about it. I always looked at it like a punishment for some reason. I would have skipped several grade levels if not for my moronic relationship with math. LOL

6) My guidance counselor was SO mad that I chose music as my major that when announcements were made via speaker about who got into what college, she purposely omitted mine! She said I was making a huge mistake. Still not sure if she was wrong lol

7) Berklee actually came to recruit me which I thought was cool. LOL I felt like a football star or something.

8) I spent most of my college life as a Resident Assistant and even won an award for it. Woot!

9) Bonnie Raitt handed me my college diploma

10) I have never been on a roller coaster and never plan to be.

11) I still keep in touch with my junior high music teacher and frequently ask him for advice.

12) Nothing makes me happier than Chinese food.

My childhood best friend (Emily!) was also somewhat looked down on because she chose to be a music major.  She had the highest ACT score in the school.  I, too, had the "problem" of being above the reading level of everyone else in elementary school.  I ran out of books to read at my level in the library and had to either go below my reading level or to the high school library.  And that poor deer either never knew what hit him or was suicidal- Jumped right out in front of us.

1) I have a boring life. Seriously. lol

2) I've never been drunk. Actually, I don't drink because I don't like the taste of alcohol.

3) I'm a maniac for cleaning. Even if I'm dead tired, I can't rest until I've done my cleaning routine in the house.

4) I love baking and cooking.

5) I suffer from compulsive downloading. If I like one song, I have to have the whole discography of that artist. Even if it's some unknow singer. lol

6) I have a small form of dyslexia, especially when I'm tired: I get confused while reading, so I read the right word in my mind but I say another out loud. Still, at school, I was the first learning to read and I was the fastest.

7) My biggest fear are thunders and suddenly loud sounds.

8) For my 25th birthday, my friend and I took the car and drove to France just so that I could celebrate my birthday at Enrique Iglesias's concert.

I also hate roller coasters and when I went to Disneyland a couple of weeks ago, Holly had to go on them alone as Josh is also scared of roller coasters lol.

I hate cooked carrots but love them raw.

Chinese is also my favourite, I could eat it every day if I could afford to.

I found this really hard, I don't think I'm as interesting as you guys LOL

1. When I was 12 years old I broke my neck. I was swimming in a pool at daycamp when the lifeguard and her boyfriend (who were messing around on the side of the pool) suddenly fell into the pool onto the back of my head. I spent just over a month in a hospital in Germany.

2. Unlike some, I have a very good sense of direction. I can drive in cities I've never visited and get around with no problem.

3. I've always been athletic but I'm terrible at group sports. As a result, I excelled at things like track and field, figure skating, speed skating and skiing in my youth and now powerlifting as an adult.

4. When I was a child I used to snore so bad/loud that I wasn't able to go to sleepovers at people's houses and when I did their parents would usually comment in shock about the noise. It was because I had a very small opening in my throat. I now am unable to snore because when my tonsils and adenoids were removed the doctor also removed my uvula (the hangy thing at the back of your throat) so that I would be able to sleep like a normal person.

5. I was voted Most Accident Prone in all but one of my high school yearbooks. The only one time I didn't win was Grade 12 and the reason was not because I was no longer accident prone (quite the contrary) it was because I was in charge of superlatives and I fixed the vote.

6. I'm a bit of a kleptomaniac. I take really random things like all of the little jam packages on the table at a restaurant, or table cards (I have a complete set of desk markers from the press room at Fenway with the reporter's name and where they work) or most recently... an entire plate of brownies, including the plate.

7. I'm almost a certified personal trainer and as soon as I finish this exam I plan to get certified as a nutrition and wellness specialist also. Not to make money from it, just for my own benefit.

8. I am skilled in cutting fruit. I can cut a mango or get all the seeds out of a pomegranate really quickly, so I eat those types of fruits more than things like apples or bananas.

9. I don't really like to read. Surprising, given why we're all here, but my attention span is about as short...

10. The first concert I ever went to was NKOTB. My sister was obsessed with Jordan (she is six years older than me) so my mother took my sister, her friend, and me to a concert in 1991. All I remember was that it was pouring rain and I screamed my face off because I thought that's what you were supposed to do.

I don't know if there are many things that are overly interesting about me, but I'll try lol

1. I have a love of the colour pink that stems from my love of the pink Power Ranger from when I was in grade 4. Similarly, my love of Union Jacks comes from my obsession with Ginger Spice when I was in Grade 6.

2. This is sacrilegious because I'm Canadian, but I really hate Tim Horton's coffee.

3. When I was 16 I bought O-Town's first album and greatly upset my best friend because she thought I was ditching out on BSB. When she saw an O-Town poster on my wall she was livid.

4. I was a cheerleader in high school and our team was really good. We were in the top division in our province and came in second at Provincials two years in a row. Our choreographer and captain was super unique, and often things we did would be copied by other teams at the next competition.

5. I was a vegetarian for two years, when I was 18-20.

6. I don't know if you guys know who Al Simmons is (he's a Canadian children's performer) but I am on some of his songs as part of the group of kids who sing with him on the tracks.

7. I was really passionate about learning how to speak French all the way from elementary to high school. I went on a French exchange program to Quebec City in grade 8 and have a bilingual certificate. I haven't used any of my French since high school ended and really do not remember any of it.

8. I was a staff member for more anime conventions than I was just a regular attendee of.

9. Despite having spent a good portion of my early 20s hanging out in a LAN Centre I have never been overly interested in video games.

10. My taste in music is either boybands or Canadian indie rock. There's an in between, but it's not much.

Here are some things about me that.may or may not interest anyone:

 1. I hate mashed potatoes. Ever since one night my sister cooked them and they were like glue. I have not touched them since.

2. I have an irrational fear of Furbies cause as a kid I recieved one as a gift. To feed it you stick your finger in its mouth, it would say "more please". I always thought that since the Furby tasted human flesh it would eat me while I was asleep.

3. I don't eat cooked broccoli. It has to be raw.

4. Chocolate is the one thing that will always make me happy without fail.

5. I strongly dislike anything that tastes or smells like pumpkin.

6. When I was three I locked my mom out of the house.

7. NSYNC was my first concert, I was a pretty big fan. My best friend was an NSYNC fan until I converted her to BSB. Ironically enough she was the one who got me into NSYNC in the first place.

8. I started eating sushi because I read in a article that Nick ate it. I figured if he was brave enough to try it, it was ok for me to try it. The first sushi I ever ate was eel.

9. As a kid I wanted to move to Oklahoma and chase the tornadoes, I wanted to be a meteorologist.

10. when I grew up I wanted to be either a zookeeper, video game designer, writer, comedian, actress, work at mc donalds, or a meteorologist. As a kid I thought it would be so cool to work at mc donalds LOL

Mind the typos cause I'm here on my iPhone whose autocorrect likes to fail.

1. I have a brother who was closer in age to our mom than me. (They were 17 years apart, him and I are 18 years apart).

2. When Nick used to talk about being a part Blackfoot Indian I was like 15 and suddenly terrified we were related cause my great grandma is a full blooded one lol.

3. I ran into Aaron Carter once when I was about 13 years old at a Wendy's, he was supposed to do a signing for Oh Aaron nearby. He was nice but looking back I should've asked for a pic since he was still normal back then lol.

4. When I was a kid I had a lazy tongue and a lot of speech issues, I'm over them now but people always think I have an East Coast accent.

5. Related to #4, the school I was at thought I might be slow cause of my issues. So I was given a bunch of IQ tests, turned out I was gifted lol. I would've skipped several grades but my mom thought it'd be bad for me socially as I'd already started a year early. So I got put in advanced classes and such but the schools never knew how to handle me, I was given books to read constantly so I wouldn't talk to everyone around me when I finished my work lol.

6.  I hate raw tomatoes, hate them.

7. I love music across decades. Total oldies nerd. After BSB and Christina Aguilera my fave singers are Journey, Beatles, and Beach Boys. Lately my jam has been Bus Stop by The Hollies.

8. I will shamelessly watch practically anything Shane West acts in lol.

9. My favorite video game series is Final Fantasy, VIII specifically. Love Squall and Rinoa.

10. I love the Flowers In The Attic book shamelessly cause it's so depraved. The books the ghostwriter did in VC Andrews name after she died I can't stand lol.

11. My first cd ever was a Spice Girls album

12. I'm the youngest of five but the age gaps are big (closest in age being six years older) so sometimes it was like having multiple sets of parents.

My one year old also snores very loud and has been a mouth breather ever since he was born, his mouth are always hanging open since he breathes through the mouth. X-ray confirmed that he has big adenoids and Doctor said it has to be removed. But he was only 10 months old when diagnosed, right now 2 months after we are still debating if we should do the surgery or not.

Wow, it seems like I have to introduce a lot of you to the wonderful world of roasted veggies. Carrots, broccoli and tomatoes taste AWESOME roasted. lol

A few more facts from me after reading some of yours and getting ideas. lol

All music edition.

~ My very first concert was Duran Duran and the very first CD I bought was Kilroy was Here by Styx. I was a brief metal head because my junior high best friend LOVED old school heavy metal.

~ The only two groups I would pay more than $50 to see in concert are BSB and Duran Duran (Actually I might even lower that to $20 lol)

~ I still do not have a copy of IAWLT.

~ I haven't heard any of the boys solo CD's except for Nick's. Maybe I've heard a snippet of a song here or there in passing but I'm not really interested in any of them solo and if they broke up I probably wouldn't be interested in following any of them afterwards.

~ The only memorabilia I own from BSB is a program from their Never Gone Tour. Although I did purchase three golf gloves at Brian's HHC event. I sent the one Kevin signed to Maria, Mersey got the one AJ signed and I kept Brian's since it was his event.

~ Even though I am a music teacher, I really don't listen to a whole lot of music. When I get home I prefer the TV as background noise or just peace and quiet.

~ With the exception of BSB, I really do not like any boybands. AT ALL lol

~ I am a terrible guitar player, like really awful. lmao

~ I taught myself how to play the piano.

~ Kind of like Saka's cheerleading squad, all throughout high school I belonged to a Madrigal Group that frequently competed against college groups and won. It just kind of happened that in our little group about half of us went on to be music majors. lol

~ I was involved in SO many musical activities in HS that by my senior year, I didn't even have a lunch break. I actually had to ask for permission to eat lunch during my music theory class.

But he was only 10 months old when diagnosed, right now 2 months after we are still debating if we should do the surgery or not.

Speaking from someone who was plagued with that issue, I would have loved it if my parents had done it earlier. I was a teenager when I had it done and by that point I was sick more than I was healthy, I constantly had throat and severe ear infections and had difficulty breathing because my tonsils and adenoids had grown so big. It's definitely scary to think of a baby having surgery but at least he won't remember the recovery.

It definitely does require some adjustments, though. In my case had to change the way I chew bc your uvula prevents you from choking by letting you know when something is in your throat, I don't have that so I have to be careful. But Saka-Steph can attest to the fact that I no longer snore! Lol

Julilly, thanks for your input. That made me lean into going for the surgery more. We just had a visit with his ENT surgeon. He said he wanted Heath's weight to be 12 KG before we proceed with the surgery, his weight is 11.9 KG. So we have to wait for him to gain weigth. Also, we were using a nasal spray to see if it will help Heath to breathe better. The snoring lessen a bit but he still breathes through the mouth, plus his tounge is now sticking out.

I was too busy to take the time to think of anything for this thread when it was posted, but I have more time now (a.k.a. I'm actually bored), so I'll resurrect it and give this a shot.

10 things you may or may not know about me...

1. I'm left-handed, as is my mom and sister.  My dad is ambidextrous; my mom's theory is that he was actually born a lefty, too, but was forced into being a righty as a small child.  Who knows.

2. I come from a long line of teachers on my mom's side and am the fifth generation to become an elementary school teacher.  My mom is a teacher, as was her mother (my grandma), as was HER mother (great-grandma), and even HER mother (great-great-grandma), back in the days when women taught for just a few years until they got married and started having babies, then had to quit teaching.

3. I hate tomatoes, but like ketchup, salsa, tomato soup, and tomato sauce, as long as it doesn't have big chunks of tomato in it.

4. I used to hate mayonnaise to the point that I would gag just looking at it, but over the years, I have learned to tolerate it.  I never buy it unless I need it for a recipe and never put it willingly on my food (unless it's mixed with something and no longer looks/tastes like mayo), but if it comes on a sandwich at a restaurant, I will eat it and not gag.

5. I have never seen The Breakfast Club or Ferris Bueller's Day Off all the way through.

6. I have had recurring nightmares about dinosaurs ever since I saw Jurassic Park in 1993.  I don't have them very often these days, but every once in awhile, I still find myself being chased by a T-Rex or velociraptor in my dreams. Despite this, I still love Jurassic Park and dinosaurs!

7. I tend to be picky about the things I watch/read/listen to/eat/like, but when I find something I like, I will watch/read/listen to/eat it over and over again.  I re-read books, re-watch movies and TV series, and listen to the same songs/albums incessantly.  I'm a creature of habit and usually prefer things that are familiar to things that are brand new.

8. I love what South Park calls "informative murder porn" - a.k.a. true crime documentaries, as seen on Investigation Discovery.  I don't watch many cop/detective dramas because I find most of them formulaic and cliche, but I love documentaries about murders, serial killers, kidnappings, disappearances, and other mysteries.  I watch a lot of the ID channel.

9. I also love history and watching historical documentaries.  Since the History Channel doesn't show much that actually relates to history anymore, I get my fix on Netflix.  I minored in history in college.  Oddly, I have never enjoyed reading historical fiction, though I do enjoy (some) period piece movies.

10. I love music and consider myself somewhat musical.  I took piano lessons for seven years as a child, but the only piece I can still play entirely by heart is "My Heart Will Go On."  Anything else requires sheet music and lots of practice to play.  I also played the clarinet in school and sang in choir in junior high, high school, and college.  I love to sing, but don't like to sing in front of other people.  These days I do most of my singing in my car.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned my recurring T-rex dreams before or not. The only difference is in my dreams, the T-Rex was mentally challenged and would be growling at me but them run into a wall and start to cry. I was always in a castle for some reason and after about the fifth time he'd do that, I'd turn around, stop running and say "There's something wrong with that dinosaur" when a random ghost (also mentally challenged) would come out of nowhere and say "I'm a ghost! Boo!!" lmao

1. I'm left-handed, as is my mom and sister.  My dad is ambidextrous; my mom's theory is that he was actually born a lefty, too, but was forced into being a righty as a small child.  Who knows.

That's like my mum. She does everything except write with her left hand because when she was a child in school they would tie her left hand behind her chair and force her to use the right.

Boo!!" lmao

Sounds like a good fan fic   lol

Trying to immerse myself in the AC culture (shout out to Mare). Some things you won't know about me:

1. My new passion is travelling - I've got a serious case of the travel bug.
2. I'm Maltese/Australian (and if you don't know what Malta is, that's okay because we're not on most maps haha)
3. I think the best Christmases are the ones that are stinking hot and you need to go to the beach or stay in the pool all day.
4. I HATE water with a passion, I don't drink alcohol and I live off coke (probably explains a lot lol)
5. I have Twitter only to stalk celebrities (like BSB) and people who inspire me lol and I have a total of one follower.
6. I am constantly on fb - social media has ruined my life lol

That's it.

I would very much like that kind of Christmas!

Do you hate to drink water of just water in general? Whenever I drink water it makes me sick to my stomach.

You should post your twitter in the thread on this board so this way more people can stalk you! LOL

I love hot weather but I'll admit that I really want to experience an American/European Christmas. It's the whole traditional Christmas thing with snow, eggnog (have no idea what that is btw lol), snow, fires, marshmallows, snow, sled rides, snow...It seems very magical!

It does make me feel sick too! I had to go for an ultrasound and they told me I had to drink 1L of water and by the time I had 200mL I was struggling. It was awful! Tried spring water, tap water, flavoured water - nothing! My stomach is probably rotted by now lol.

There's not much to stalk. I don't tweet much but here's the link anyways https://twitter.com/attjess

The beach and hot weather sounds pretty good right about now, considering there's snow on the ground where I live, and it's supposed to get down to -12 F on Monday!

Where is your favorite place you've traveled, Jess?

RokofAges, I had to google what -12F was in celsius and omg! I have never felt anything below 7C. I don't envy you! LOL I haven't been many places but I did love Malta (I am biased though) and Jordan was beautiful too.

I wish this snow was "magical" and would just disappear already! LOL Supposedly we're getting three more storms this week including one today. Mind you, my street is still not plowed! AHHH!!

This is now what's happening in Allentown because of all the damn snow. I admit I'm kind of jealous because at least their road is clear. The same thing is happening here while we still have at least 4 or 5 inches of compacted snow and ice on our street!

Helloooooo, I figured I'd join in.
Things You might not know about me.

* I have a degree in Clinical Psychology

* I work at a health store though. After I finished college, I chose to take care of my grandparents instead of looking for a "serious" job. Now I'm kinda stuck there, but thankfully I love my job.

* I'm single, have been for years, because I can't seem to move on and open myself up for something new. Sad, I know.

* Last year, I changed my diet by cutting out sugar completely and I've lost a lot of weight since.

* I have two guinea pigs that I love to bits. I talk to them all the time and "make them talk back".

* These two and the one I owned before them, are mute, lol. Most guinea pigs "whistle" when they hear the refrigerator.  They don't bother.

* I'm left handed when it comes to writing, but whenever I have to use scissors or a knife, I use my right hand.

I think that's enough for now.

Mare, gonna sound like a stupid question, but can you drive on snow? LOL Like, is there something you put on the tires that makes you stay up? Yeah, I'm already regretting asking this question haha

Nijntje, how can you not have sugar!!!  ???  I live off sugar! But good on you! That takes real effort and determination! Congrats on the weight loss too! Much respect to you for taking care of your grandparents. And I used to have guinea pigs but I have a bird now and it's funny because you can't get him to shut up! LOL

Lefties are very intelligent as well,  lol.

To me, it was actually quite easy to cut out the refined sugar. It's not like I ate a lot of it in the first place. But unfortunately, manufacturers put a lot of "hidden" sugar in about everything, so that sucks, lol.
It just means I do a lot of my grocery shopping at work. ;)

My guinea pigs are really cute, it's just a shame they don't "talk".

I too dislike cooked carrots btw.

Another two facts  about me;  I don't have a drivers license and I crochet..

Not a stupid question. You can drive on snow but it's not a fun thing to do. My car doesn't handle really well on snow. I tend to slip and slide even when it rains too hard so my nerves are frayed to say the least because of this weather. People can put on snow tires but they are a pain in the neck because you can't use them when it's nice out so you have to change them. It pays for places that always get hit hard for winter but not for me. We have a two hour delay today because it snowed last night and now it's -6 so all that snow is frozen and I have to drive 40 minutes up and down hills to get to school. Nerves are frayed!

Nijntje, that bison is amazing! Very talented. Also love the guinea pig on the left...you could probably give him a mohawk lol.

Mare, that actually sounds pretty annoying after a while :( You're more than welcome to come to Australia where the only snow we have is on the mountains and its more like ice than snow. (I met an American in Kuala Lumpar and she explained to me what snow flakes are - I knew what they were but I still find it hard to believe that each one is unique...)

Having snow tires is the law here because we get a LOT of snow and very rarely do things close down for snow. I have a rental space at my car dealership so they store my other set of tires. I go in late May (because it snows until early May) and get my summer tires on then they put my winter tires in storage until September. My winter tires cost about $140 a tire and I replace two tires every other year. I easily drive 110km/hr on a snow covered highway without concern.

A lesson in snow tires! Haha

I would love to go to Australia! It's on my places I want to go before I die list. Alaskan cruise still tops the list.

Thanks for answering my question, Steph! lol

LOL Mare! How do I get my hands on one of these?

RokofAges75, I don't want to sound up myself, but Australia DOES have the coolest animals lol. Platypuses are so random - they're like a duck mushed with some kind of land animal, like an otter or something. I love doing the whole close encounters thing and I've done it with most of the popular Australian animals like kangaroos (even an albino one!), wallabies, koalas, emus, dingoes, possums, wombats, echidnas, snakes, different parrots, but I'm itching to do one with a platypus! You can only really see them at the zoo :(

I did see that - so awful!  I don't understand why they would do that when other zoos were even offering to take the giraffe.  The article I read said it was done to prevent inbreeding, because apparently sterilizing them causes damages to the internal organs...?  So they just decided it would be better off dead?  I don't get it. :(

We have mostly African and Australian animals in our zoos. I'm not quite sure what animals America have. We do have a brown bear. That's American right?

Yeah, it got up to 46C where I live. I'm not sure if there were any places that reached 50 but I assume there would be because I live in a built up area where it doesn't get as hot as areas in the bush. Yeah, we have bears, wolves, coyotes, cougars, deer... nothing super interesting.  Australia and Africa have the coolest animals.

I just googled the Celsius to Fahrenheit, and WOW, that is hot!!!  It doesn't get much hotter than 37 or so here in Illinois, and that is really hot for us even in the summer.

I'd die if temperatures here would be that high!
Roughly, we don't get anything over 33C here,  and if it gets that hot, it thankfully doesn't last long.

This winter we haven't seen any snow where I live and temperatures haven't dropped below 0C during the day.
I must say I like it better when it freezes, simply because so far, we've seen a LOT of rain.

I'd say the only interesting/fun animals we have in Canada are polar bears lol mostly beavers, deer, moose, caribou. Our zoo's Canadian section has a black bear, he is named Smokey and he eats at a picnic table lol, some raccoons, skunks, deer, porcupines, bald eagles and a moose :P

I fondly remember my school days in Brunssum/Limburg when we would play outside all winter with just spring jackets!

The dolls are amazing, mine is next to my bed lol :)

Wow, it does get hot for some of you, here in Wales it's a lot cooler, but it did go up to about 33 last summer, which is too hot for me.  I like it to be about mid twenties at the most.

I'd love to visit Australia but would be terrified of the spiders and other creepy crawlies

Aww I'm sorry! It's just a silly song about how Australia is so super dangerous because of its wildlife.

I completely forgot America had deer! I have only ever seen one deer in my life and it was from far away in Israel. They look so beautiful!

Deer are beautiful, but they are scary when they jump out in front of your car at night!

They sound like kangaroos! lol

LOL Yes, I bet so!  I have a friend who studied abroad in Australia, and she said kangaroos are as common there as squirrels are here, which I thought was cool at the time, but since they're so much bigger than squirrels, probably not so cool when they hop out in front of your car!

Squirrels!! That's another animal I would love to see!! I always imagine them to be like possums, except on the telly they don't really look like possums at all.

Kangaroos are only really around in the bush, not in built up areas. You will definitely not find a kangaroo in the city lol But they are absolutely gorgeous creatures! I always love feeding them. They grab your hand and eat out of it, it's really amazing.

Aww, that's so cool!  I would love to see a kangaroo up close!

Squirrels are a lot smaller and cuter than possums.  They are fun, whereas possums are creepy. LOL  Squirrels are more similar to rabbits, except they climb trees.

HAHAHAHA!!! Lol possums are a little creepy. I had one on my shoulders once. They're like huge rats with freaky-ass eyes. Can you keep a squirrel for a pet?

When I still lived with my parents, the garage door accidentally got left open one night, and a possum got in.  It jumped out at my dad when he went out to feed the cats in the morning; it was inside the big bag of cat food.  Scared him half to death!  We borrowed a no-kill trap from my sister's boyfriend to catch it, and then she and I drove it out to a rural area and let it go, but it kept trying to bite us as we were trying to open the cage.  It was really creepy.

I'm sure some people do have squirrels as pets, probably wild ones that they rescued as babies and kept.  You can't buy them in pet stores or anything, as far as I know.

OMG that is soooo cute!! haha It's like he has that sleeping disorder which I've forgotten what it's called (my brain's not working. I've spent the last two hours reading about cannibalism lol). And he's black!!! I didn't know there were black squirrels! Love it!

Oh yeah, they're biters. That was really lovely of you to drive it all the way out though. I would have just given it to animal control or it could just take it's chances on the freeway lol I think they carry rabies too.

Narcolepsy!  That's what I thought too.  Squirrels can be black or gray too, but we mostly have the red/brown ones around here.

Yeah, we wore thick gloves before opening the cage just in case.  I'm an animal lover, but that turned me off to possums LOL.

I myself have an extreme phobia of moths. I can handle snakes, spiders etc but not moths. They creep me out, you have no idea!

Ick! Tell me about it! And they're always in my bedroom! They never seem to be anywhere else. And then I can't sleep in there until my mum kills it (yes, this is how terrified I am of these things). But it's like they only follow me around. Sometimes I think they have a little meeting that they go to and plan out new and terrifying ways to scare me!

Stink bugs freak me out. I don't mind most other bugs but stink bugs and I do not get along.

What's a stink bug?

For Julily:

We have plenty of those in Kentucky.  They don't freak me out nearly as much as all the spiders I see living here in the woods. (Yes, I live in Kentucky, and I live in the woods-- on the side of a mountain, actually, which has been just great with all the snow we've had this winter. *insert sarcasm font*)

A stink bug is like a small grey beetle that come inside during fall and winter. If you kill it the smell is HORRIBLE.
