LOL everyone else is making one thread for all their updates, and I like the organization of that idea, so here's mine. You can close my other thread for BMS and CB if you want.

BtO and YNWA aren't actually in-progress; they're finished on my site. They're both old stories that I wrote years ago and decided to put up on AC over the summer cause I had nothing better to do LOL. So if anyone's reading them for the first time on AC, check them out on my site if you want to read ahead. I kinda have a bad habit of forgetting to post chapters here. :-\
I did update BMS, BtO, and YNWA tonight though. :) (And I'm still a chapter ahead of BMS on my site...)

I know what you mean! I'm sure you remember this, too, but, when I first started out with Second Chances and Then Again, I somehow found a whole lot of time to write and I wrote FAST. Like super fast. Now, I'm lucky if I can write a page of fanfic everyday. Usually, it's more like twice a week or something, although I try to set aside Thursday nights to write because I don't have class on Friday. Maybe, if you can, you could try to pick just one night a week where you can do nothing but write...if that works out for you and your schedule, which I know it doesn't always.
Anyway, I don't mind waiting for BMS updates because it's getting SO SO good :) Good luck, good luck, GOOD LUCK!

Julie, you don't know how excited that makes me that you're so far along on 197!! YAY!!! I bet you hate this question, but I have to ask, because if there's too much more to this story I may just die of anticipation, so...how many more chapters do you think there are before the ending?
Not that I'm complaining, but OMG! If there's much more of all the excitement that's happening, I WILL DIE from the anxiety. Seriously, if you'd seen me sitting there last night, raptly reading your story, you would've laughed at my facial expressions LOL Anyway, I love, love, love this story to itsy bitsy pieces and I can't wait for the next update!

I spent ALL WEEK last week writing 196... it was killing me, cause I started it last Sunday and didn't resolve the freaking cliffhanger until Saturday! I had to drag myself to bed and to school knowing that Nick's fictional life was in peril! LMAO

Hey Julie! Just wanted to let ya know that I love the new layout of your site! It's so pretty with all the colors :) Oh, and I simply cannot wait until chapter 198! It's becoming harder and harder to remind myself that BMS is coming to an end as it seems to get even better...

Chapter 199 is up! It's new on AC as well as my site.
And I realized, the next time I update this story, it will be done. That's the plan, anyway... I'm saving Chapter 200 and the epilogue (which isn't written yet) to post on Nick's b-day, assuming the epilogue is done by then.

I dunno. :( I don't even know what I'm gonna write yet! I have all kinds of ideas, but I'm kinda "meh" about all of them right now. I was thinking earlier today about all this stuff I have going on during weekends in February and how busy I'm going to be, and then I realized I was going to be done with BMS by then, so what does it matter? I'll probably be bored out of my mind without that to write on weekends.

I was fine through the first two chapters, didn't even get misty eyed then you KILLED me with the extra epilogue lol I actually was like "We may have similar names but I hate you..." as soon as I got like two paragraphs in and I got the gist of what was going down lol
It was an awesome ending though. It was exactly what the story deserved. Well done!

I'm actually crying. I'm actually sitting here, after reading that, and there is this horrible pressure in my chest and I can't believe it's over. Like Julilly, I kind of figured that the post-epilogue would end that way, but oh my god, it hurt to read it.

I don't know what I'm going to do now without BMS :'( That story inspired me so freakin much. Like you don't even know. I don't think that my ideas for ALTOS would have come into play if it wasn't for BMS because its been a huge influence for me. I'm definitely going to miss it *sniff*

Sounds weird, but I always take it as a compliment when I'm able to make someone cry LOL. I cried reading/watching all the things that inspired that ending, so it's an honor to make you guys tear up with my writing too LOL. I'm glad you liked the ending, bittersweet as it was. It was kind of a downer to write, but I'm really proud of how it turned out. :)

I'm surprised this thread was still on the first page (barely LOL), it's been so long, but I finally posted something new! It's a short story I've been working on since freaking February called "The World Will Know Your Name."
It's an AJ story, and it's also a songfic, which I am not usually a big fan of, but I've had this idea in my head since September and am pretty excited about finally getting it down in words and finishing it. I hope you enjoy it!

Me and Julie are slackers basically. The epi has been waiting on us. I'm on such a block with CB but I blame Justin for it since he's my part this epi around.

Yeah, I think Rose and I are trading parts a little to get us going, cause I bit off way more than I could chew, trusting my inspiration more than I should have LOL, and she's not into her Justin part, which ties into the part I'm almost done with anyway, so... maybe after I finish my 00Carter part, I will try to finish that stuff.

I started a new story this weekend! It's called "Secrets of the Heart," and it's a Brian/AJ AU (FINALLY, one of the Brian AU ideas I've had is coming to life!). It's drama, of course, and a little bit medical, a little bit supernatural, and a little bit mystery. The first two chapters of it are up.

Thanks! Actually, not really... I've had the idea since March, which seems like a long time, but not compared to the other two Brian AU ideas I had. This was just the only one that wasn't a romance and seemed the easiest to write LOL.

Hey, I get to bump this thread up again! It's been a long time! LOL
After about ten months of no motivation, I finally revived my "newish" story "Secrets of the Heart," which I posted three chapters of last October. Chapters 4 and 5 are up now, and hopefully it won't take me another year to write the next two! I really appreciate the reviews I got for it when I originally posted it last year, so I'm hoping people will want to continue to read it or check it out for the first time. Thanks! :)
I also finally finished posting my old story "You'll Never Walk Alone," which I slacked off on for so long because there are a LOT of italics, and I hate putting in the HTML tags LOL. But it's finally posted in its entirety - yay!
Edit: I'm on a roll tonight. I also added an old short story I wrote back in 2001 called "Seduction of Evil." Why? Mostly just so I'd have 20 stories posted on AC instead of 19... that 19 was really bugging the OCD in me; it's such an odd, prime number... 20 is a nice, round, even one. :) But also "Seduction" is kind of a fun story, even if it's not the greatest thing I've ever written. It's not the worst thing either, especially in the way of short stories LOL. It was inspired by reading one of my old R.L. Stine books and was kind of my first foray into the horror/supernatural genre, so it's not to be taken too seriously. ;)

I haven't updated this thread since last summer - oh sad LOL. That said, I've been a busy little writing bee during my first week of summer break, so I have some updates to post!
First, I posted a new story tonight called "Guilty Roads": http://accidentalchaos.net/viewstory.php?sid=10116
While the other stories I'm writing are all AUs, this one is old-school Bsb fanfic all the way. It takes place in 1999, during the Millennium tour, and I'd like to think it's similar to the good old suspense fics like Mare's "It Stays With You" and Jaydee's "Faceless" (sorry, Mare, I know those two don't go together in your mind LOL). I haven't attempted a suspense like this, or even a non-AU, in awhile, so even though it's old-school, it's something new for me too. I hope you enjoy the beginning of it if you get a chance to check it out!

Thanks for the feedback on "Secrets" too! You know me; I love the medical drama LOL. That one isn't going to be a total medical drama, but I haven't gotten out of the medical parts yet. It's a side project, and I don't write on it as often as I should. Hopefully I'll get further on it this summer.
I don't write near as often as I used to just because of work, but I really haven't ever lost my "mojo" - most of my writing has just been for my collaborations, Undead and 00Carter. I haven't had a story of my own that I've worked on regularly since BMS, so it's a nice change to have started some new stuff that I can work on along with the collabs. Hopefully I'll have lots more updates to come over the summer!

Well, I started another new story! I didn’t really intend to start anything new, having just started Guilty Roads, but I got this idea last Sunday, it wouldn’t leave me alone, and so I decided to play around with it and started writing just to get it out of my system. I’ve learned that if I try to sit on ideas while I’m finishing other stories first, I usually don’t come back to them, so it’s better to go ahead and write while I’m inspired and see where it takes me. Usually I’ll write a beginning chapter and then set it aside and go back to whatever other stories I was working on. With this one, I wrote on it for a full week, cranking out a chapter a day (which, for me, is pretty good these days). I said I wasn’t going to post it until I got to Chapter 6 and saw how it was going then. Well, I finished Chapter 6 this morning, so I guess it’s time to post it so you guys can see why I haven’t written anything for GR since the last update. LOL
The new story is called “Curtain Call,” and the first five chapters are up. There’s a reason I’m posting that many chapters at once, instead of staying ahead of myself and posting them one at a time. I hope that you’ll read all five before making a judgment about the story. This one reminds me of Broken – it starts out reading like probably yet another teenybopper romance story, but then it takes a turn (and it takes fewer chapters to get there this time). Also, like Broken, I started off thinking I would never actually turn this idea into a story because I’ve written similar stories before, but the more I thought about it and planned for it and started writing it, the more I couldn’t let it go. Also, like Broken… well, I’ll let you read. I dunno about Billy, but I read Plain Truth and Lurlene McDaniel's Amish trilogy and watched "Witness" and Lifetime's "Amish Grace" - I have them on my DVR so I can watch them again if need be. I also have an episode of TLC's Untold Stories of the ER about a guy who got shot in the head that I haven't watched yet. And plenty of zombie movies for when it's my turn on Undead. But I just keep writing CC instead...

I started watching it yesterday, but I have no attention span and didn't get very far into it, not because it wasn't good, but because it required too much concentration because it's subtitled (meaning I couldn't be doing anything else while watching it or I'd miss what they were saying), and I wanted to write LOL. So I'm gonna try that again sometime when I feel like lying on the couch for an hour and a half to watch it.

I know, right?! I love whoever thought of that premise and actually turned it into a real movie! There was even a backstory with historical info about WWII, but it hadn't explained how the Nazis reanimated from the dead yet. It was pretty awesome so far!

Yeah, you'll have to! The zombie action more than makes up for having to read the subtitles. Also, you learn things - like in Norway, they call your monthly visitor "Auntie Red" instead of "Aunt Flo" LOL. Good to know for when I write my Norwegian version of "Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret."

I'm at kind of a crossroads with GR where I need to make some decisions about the rest of the plot, cause I'm not sure my original plan is going to work; it's starting to feel a little "plot holey" again, which is the reason I sat on the original idea for like 7 years before I finally got around to writing it LOL. Of the two, CC is easier to write; the plot is a lot simpler, and even though I've been doing a lot of research for it, it's the kind of research I've done before, so I know where to go with it.

First up, Chapter 7 of “Secrets of the Heart” is up! Yes… the Brian/AJ AU that I never update LOL. It’s updated! Huge thanks to Sarah for motivating me to write the next chapter!
Second, Chapter 16 of “Curtain Call” is up! I will warn you now, I’ve been staying at least a chapter (usually two) ahead of myself this whole time I’ve been posting a chapter every day or two, but I’m caught up to myself – Chapter 17 isn’t done yet, so if the updates keep slowing down, that’s why. I’m still going pretty strong with it, though, and your reviews certainly help, so thank you!!

Thanks Steph! It was cool to get a review for Broken; hasn't happened in awhile! LOL It is a long story, but I've been told it goes fast once you get into it - like I told Karen, it's totally okay to just skim the first 12 chapters or so; it gets better after that LOL.
Lore, I just have lots of time right now - I love being a teacher! Gotta get into back-to-school mode soon, but I'm gonna try to get as much written with the rest of my vacation as I can. The updates will definitely slow down later in August.

Eh, I dunno how far you are into it, but it goes both ways - he puts up with a lot of her crap too! I know it's incredibly long; for some reason, when I initially planned it out, I was afraid I wouldn't have enough story (because I can't just do pure romance; it bores me), so I went subplot crazy, and then it ended up super long. I think Broken is better in terms of the story, but the quality of writing is better in BMS.

LMAO... sorry. ;) If it helps at all, I finished that chapter Sunday night, right before I went to bed (at least an hour past my bedtime), so I finally dragged my ass to bed and couldn't sleep cause that's what I was thinking of. Last night wasn't much better cause now I'm on the next chapter but still haven't resolved the situation, so again, I stayed up too late and again, went to bed still thinking about the story and what I was going to write next. I'm working on like 10 hours of sleep in two days now. I need a snow day or a mental health day, bad. LOL.
And no worries, Steph! I know I've been posting a lot of updates... eventually I will need to take a break and work on my collabs, but hopefully I can do all of that next week when I'm off and have more writing time.

Since NKOTBSB killed the part of my muse responsible for Curtain Call, I actually have an update on a different story… Chapter 10 of “Guilty Roads” is up!! It’s been over six months since I last updated that one, and I had pretty much given up on updating it again until I finish CC, but what can I say… this is why it’s nice to have a back-up story! I wasn’t sure if I should put this chapter up now or hold on to it for when I can commit to updating it more regularly, but I decided to go ahead and throw it out there. Major apologies to my readers for the lack of updates lately! My summer is finally starting after a couple weeks of classes and two NKOTBSB concerts, so hopefully now I’ll be able to get some real writing done. I FINALLY finished the chapter of “Curtain Call” I was blocked on, so Chapter 67 is up. I doubt it’s worth the wait, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! If you read “Broken,” you might get a kick out of going back to look at Chapter 61 of that after you read the CC update. Same basic scene… same exact joke. Good to know my sense of humor was just as lame as it was seven years ago LOL.

I finally delivered on my promise of going back to Guilty Roads now that Curtain Call is done. Chapter 11 of GR is up! Hopefully it won't take me 8 months to finish the next one; it's already half done. Wow, it's been like two months since I last updated one of my own stories! FAIL! I'm trying to make up for that with a new story I posted today called "Half the Man I Used to Be."
I decided I'm done trying to push myself to write outside the box and update my other stories; from now on, I'm just going to stick to what I'm good at. That said, this is another Nick cancer story, which is all I'm going to be writing from now on (besides finishing Undead, of course!).

Believe it or not, I attempted a BSB/Harry Potter crossover about ten years ago, when I first got into HP, but it never got far enough to post. I got the idea for this one last summer, in the midst of all the Deathly Hallows Part 2 mania, but only really got going on it in the last couple of weeks.
I feel kind of bad posting it when I should be trying to update Guilty Roads or Secrets of the Heart, but I finally decided it was better to update something new than not update anything because I haven't felt like writing those other two.

Chapter 8 of “Secrets of the Heart” has been posted! For those who don’t remember this story, I started it back in 2008 as a side project and haven’t updated it in about two years. My track record on updating it has been HORRIBLE, I know, but I’m promoting it to my main story with the goal of finishing it this year (hopefully this summer). It’s obviously not very far along yet, but it’s not going to be a long story, only about 25 chapters total. I have a couple more chapters ready to post later this week and will hopefully be able to keep writing on this one and updating it regularly until it’s done. I know I say that with every story, but I’m really trying to clear my plate, one story at a time, and this is the most likely to be finished first. After that, I will go back to Guilty Roads – I know that is the one everyone wishes I would update! But give “Secrets” a chance, if you haven’t already, and let me know what you think! I know some of you will probably have to reread to refresh your memory – sorry again for being such a flake, but thanks for your patience!
I do have a few chapters hoarded for the Harry Potter story, but I'm not sure if I should post them or wait until I'm working on that one consistently again. I was writing on it every day over spring break, and then silly school killed my inspiration, and I haven't really gotten back into it yet. But I really think I'm better off just focusing on one story at a time until I start finishing some of them, and like I said, Secrets is closest!

I posted a new part of "Footprints," which hasn't been updated in like five years and thus has probably been forgotten by most people. I want to write about Nick and Claire for Maggie's 20th anniversary challenge and thought it would make a nice addition to this story, but first I thought I should finish the part I had started 4-5 years ago and never finished LOL. You’re never going to believe this, but Guilty Roads has been updated with Chapter 12!
I am sincerely sorry that it’s been SO long since the last GR update in January of 2012. I started off strong with this story in June of 2010, and then I got the idea for Curtain Call, and ever since then, there’s always been another story that has sounded better or, to be perfectly honest, easier to write, and Guilty Roads has gotten pushed further and further down the priority list. The good news is that I’ve since finished some of these stories or at least gotten them out of my system, in order to make GR a priority again.
Honestly, this story has not been an easy one to write. As much as I enjoy reading suspense, writing it is a completely different story – it’s hard for me! Add in the fact that this one has a complicated plot with several interweaving storylines that require a lot of research, and this has proven to be quite the challenge.
I held off on posting this chapter until I had made enough progress to ensure I’d be able to update at least a few more times before falling by the wayside again – and hopefully that won’t happen this time. Curtain Call is done, Secrets of the Heart is done, and Song for the Undead is almost done, so I’m not stretched QUITE as thin as I have been for the past three years. I’m really hoping I can keep up the momentum I’ve had going this week and not get blocked again so I can keep churning out chapters because I know some of you have been waiting quite patiently for more for a long time now! I don’t want to disappoint.

It was a very awkward interview; the interviewers had no idea what they were talking about. When they found out Nick was only 12 when he joined the group (which they couldn't believe, because they didn't do any research before they got them on their show), all they did for the rest of the interview was play clips of random BSB songs and ask Nick how old he was when he recorded them. But that's how the pubic hair conversation started LOL.

Wow, it's really sad that I haven't been able to update this thread since July! I posted Chapter 15 of "Guilty Roads," but I will be totally honest and admit that this isn't a new chapter; I have been hanging onto it and one more since July. I just got tired of hoarding chapters and decided it was time to start posting some, whether I'm writing more or not. If something were to happen to my computer and I'd lose them, I would probably give up on this story completely, so that's why I'm updating. There is one more chapter where this one came from, but after that, it may be awhile before I update Guilty Roads again - fair warning!
On a happier note, I have several chapters of the Harry Potter crossover that I'm planning on posting in the coming weeks, and I did work on that story over Christmas break, so there is more hope of that actually being updated after I run out of hoarded chapters to post. That's where I stand on stuff that is currently online, anyway!

I wrote a rather long blurb about this story on my site, but it seems too long-winded to post here here, so here's the short version:
1. This is the sequel to "Unsuspecting Sunday," the slash short story I wrote last summer.
2. Please don't let the word "slash" scare you off. Notice there is no slash label on the new story. I will add one if it's warranted later in the story, but right now, it's not.
3. Angst, angst, angst! This story is going to be so angsty, it'll make Curtain Call read like a romantic comedy.
4. We've discussed those "lines" we won't cross as writers in the question thread. As of this story, I have no more lines because the two things I've always said I'll never do are done by the end of Chapter 1.
This is gonna be one of those stories where you're either on the train or you're not, but I hope you'll hop on board and at least give it a try! :)

Nothing like waiting till the last minute, but after a four-month hiatus, I'm back with a new short story, just in time for Christmas!
I just posted the first four parts of "Return of the Pandaskunk," the sequel to the Christmas story I wrote a couple of years ago, "The Gift of the Pandaskunk." I've put the two stories together in a series I'm calling The Pandaskunk Saga. Maybe one day it will be a trilogy! ;D

I had hoped to have this sequel done by Christmas, but I just got the idea and started writing it Sunday night, and between doing some last minute Christmas shopping, wrapping, baking, and stuff with friends and family, I just haven't had enough time to finish it yet. Wow, I have gotten really terrible at updating in a timely manner! I FINALLY finished the so-called "short story" I started writing right before Christmas - it took me over a month to finish, and that was with me actually writing on it quite regularly! Wow, it feels really good to update this thread with a real story! I haven't updated "Sick as My Secrets" since Howie's birthday last August, and that is just sad!
But I'm back, and Chapter 23 is up!
I've been sitting on this chapter for a year, trying to decide if the first draft of it was really where I wanted to go with this part of the story or if I wanted to take it in a different, less dramatic direction. Seems like I run into this dilemma at some point in the middle of all of my medical dramas, when I have to decide whether to put my main character through more pain and suffering for the sake of drama or give them a break. I always, always choose drama, but sometimes I look back and wonder, Would the story have been as good or better if I had just skipped this part? But I guess I will never find out because I went ahead and stuck with my original plan in this one too. ;) I figured it's a fanfic, and you guys wouldn't be reading it if you didn't want drama. The more, the better, right? I hope so, 'cause here it goes. Enjoy Chapter 23!

I've got a little gift for my Curtain Call readers. I started a short story called "If..." that's a companion to Curtain Call. I've been wanting to write something like this for a couple of years, and a couple of songs on Nick's new album finally inspired me to do it. I wanted to finish it before Christmas because it is sort of Christmas themed, but of course I suck and couldn't do it, so I posted a "sneak peek" for now - the first couple scenes of the story - and will post the rest as soon as I finish, which should be in the next week.

okay so WHAT THE FUCK DID THEY DO TO BRIAN!?!?
Spine damage, possible paralyzation and a brain injury/coma...i mean what is going on with Nick is bad enough but you had to go for Brian too . So damn evil! I mean I knew you were evil already but yeah I got kinda pissed off at this chapter haha. I feel like they’re still lying to him about stuff. Like i mean, they’re lying about how Brian got hurt, first of all. Second, I’m pretty sure there is more to this operation than these operations they’re doing. Can’t wait to see how this plays out, especially with the impending hurricane added to the mix. I kinda want to slap Dani because I do not like her.

Okay, picking back up from my last review after I read the newest chapter, I can't explain why I feel off about Dani because I can't pin what is making me have weird vibes about her right now. Something isn't sitting right and I'm not sure what it is. I just am skeptical about all of this. This chapter didn't make mad and that confused me lol. Like is he falling for her or vice Versa because I don't know. Something doesn't click for me. At least I didn't cringe as much during this chapter because some of it was pretty funny, like the mushroom hair crack. Looking forward to the next update!

So glad to see that they let Nick see Brian, but how awful that he's suffered such horrendous injuries, I hope it's nothing permanent but we will see.
I was hoping the ICD implant would go smoothly and glad it did. Reading this is like reading a bit about my own husband who has dilated cardiomyopathy and had an EF of just 5% when he was admitted to hospital with heart failure nearly five years ago. There is still talk of him having the ICD at some point, but medication is keeping him well for now, thank god.
Anyway, still really loving this and looking forward to more twists and turns.

I am showing the worst case scenario here as far as it progressing so fast and probably exaggerating things for the sake of drama, so I hope it's not scaring you. I find it scary myself! Just finished chapter 15, glad Nick is doing well after the ICD implant and no signs of infection...ye t! But poor Brian, scoring as low as a corpse is not good at all. I hope he improves. I also hope the emergency generator doesn't run out if the storm is more serious than usual storms.
I'm not finding it upsetting to read as know quite a bit about dilated cardiomyapothy now due to Tim having it, and know that it's different for each person. Luckily for Tim he is doing well on all of his medication and leads a more or less normal life at the moment :)

I am loving the story! It's very intriguing as to what is going to happen next. I'm nervous about what else is going to happen if the 'storm is just beginning'. I also liked when Nick compared his heart to the movie Speed. Only nick would come up with something like that. And then I had to LOL when he asked if he was hotter than Nick Lachey!

First of all. LMAO at the Speed reference. Classic movie. Second...I still do not trust Dani...I’m starting to like her a little more but there’s something telling me not to completely do a 180 just yet. Holding onto that for now, xD
I snorted at the Nick Lachey comment because while i love 98 Degrees, Jeff is way hotter than Nick, and Nick Carter is way hotter than Nick Lachey. Lmao. I was so sad when Brian didn’t respond to anything they were doing to wake him up. However, I do know how you are and I know you wont let him off that easy!! Can’t wait to see what happens with the whole Brian/coma situation and this hurricane.
Love that you threw in the power outage. Now it gets interesting, how are they going to get out of this one?

Totally agree about 98 Degrees; Jeff is my favorite too and is definitely hotter than Nick Lachey, as is Carter. And I love Speed; this is at least my third Speed reference in a fanfic.
The power outage has been planned since the beginning, so I was so excited to finally get to it. The first two versions of this story I started were set further north (one of them was in New Jersey), and it was going to be either a blizzard/ice storm or noreaster instead of a hurricane that caused the power outage. Then I changed it to Key West and a hurricane, which worked out better. I looked up the hurricane names for the 2019 season, and once I saw that Melissa was the M name, I started cracking up.
Yeah, my track record is against me when it comes to killing off the boys LOL. I've killed one at the end of the last three novels I've finished, so... :/

Loved this chapter, I read it before i went out for the evening. Loved that you showed what was going on while Nick was unconscious and not just what he was imagining in his head. I enjoyed that transition. Glad he wasn’t really throwing up blood either. I sense that there are some feelings developing between Nick and Dani, maybe that is just me. Or maybe I am not being so cynical lol..dunno which. I’m glad he’s going to be okay (for now) because I know you won’t let him off that easily ;)

Thanks!! I'm glad you liked the transition between reality and Nick's dream or out of body experience or whatever you wanna call it. I've written this story mostly in third person limited point of view, focusing on Nick, but I'm planning to eventually include scenes focusing on other characters, so this will help set up for that. Also it's hard to "show, not tell" when the main character is unconscious LOL.

Just caught up on the last three chapters and can't believe their bad luck, not only are they cut off from everyone due to the storm, but the generator goes down and Nick's ICD is working overtime! But so glad they managed to keep Brian alive...for now. Also glad Nick's heart is still managing to keep going.
I am warming to Dani, but there's still something I don't trust about any of them, I'm glad I'm not the only one lol, but we will see.

I've just had a lovely three chapters to catch up on and wow, you really are putting them both through it!
Poor Brian, hearing that they may pull the plug if he doesn't improve. I can't imagine how terrifying that would be, to be awake and aware of everything but powerless to do anything or let anyone know he's still there :(
And Nick, not only is his heart failing fast, but now he's found out Dani is pregnant by him. What an awful mess.
Reading about the fluid retention, EF and Echocardiogram s is making me think of my own husband. He had severe fluid retention in his stomach and chest at diagnosis but not his legs. I'm just glad he's been stable on his medication and isn't going through what Nick is in this story.

The drama is increasing, I was on the edge of my seat reading that chapter! For a moment I thought they weren't going to bring him back and that Brian would just be lying there watching him die. But the fact that he is crying, will they pick up on that and realise that he's still aware of everything going on? Or will they be too focussed on Nick to notice?

July was a crazy month. But I'm caught up now. I wonder if they notice if Brian was crying. This is so evil that Brian can hear everything and can't do anything.. I wanted him to move when nick was laying there and almost dying. So frustrating. I'm glad Dani came clean with Rob but I don't like the fact she's telling nick she threw everything away from him. He's in love with Lauren and has Odin. I highly doubt that he would simply walk away from his family. Hope something gets figured out soon. Loving the story as always

Really enjoyed that chapter and glad Dani told Rob about the baby. But I'm still not convinced that anyone knows where Nick and Brian are. I know the storm means that roads and flights are probably still not do-able but if Rob can get to the mainland by boat, then I'm sure Leighanne or Lauren or more likely both of them would have made the boat journey too. I wonder if they are searching for information about their husbands?
I also don't think Nick will feel the same way about Dani, even though she is having his baby. He will stand by her and do right for the baby though. At least that's what I think :)

Just read the latest chapter and wow, that was amazing! I was so excited so see Brian finally able to open his eyes and move his fingers, now Nick knows he is going to get better...or is he? Can't believe he was so cruelly put back to sleep, poor Brian, and that arsehole Patrick giving him the wrong dose and nearly killing him too. I hope he gets what he deserves!

Haha, I love the theory! That's so interesting. It could be that Dr. Elizabeth is the one who misunderstood, since she didn't observe Brian squeezing Nick's hand and opening his eyes and such. If Brian really is brain dead, it would have happened because of Patrick giving him too much of the drug and stopping his heart.

Just finished reading it, and I knew it! I have thought all along that something dodgy was going on in that hospital, or whatever it is. I was suspicious at there only being four staff and that they weren't contacting their families. Now I know I was right to feel that way!
The missing woman on the news had to be the woman in the next bed to Nick who died, how awful. I hope Nick and Brian are found before these evil psychos kill them off too.
This is turning into a proper medical horror story and I love it! Just hope whoever turns up to speak to Howie isn't in on it too :)

OK so now I know I was right from the start and that Dani did something to him in that bar which led him to have heart failure. I bet she isn't pregnant either, or if she is, it's not Nick's and she's just pretending. I knew something wasn't right and didn't trust her at all, but then I began to wonder if I'd been wrong, now I know I wasn't and to trust my initial instinct.
Poor guys, how awful for them both to be so utterly helpless in this place and at the hands of these weirdo evil medical killers!
My heart felt like it was beating faster as I read it, poor Nick, being given a drug that gives him heart failure when he was perfectly healthy before. So cruel and twisted.

LOL I know; this was one of those times when my own mind scares me. Like yeah, she is super twisted, but she is also my creation and is just doing the creepy things I come up with for her to do. I had a feeling that they were lying about Brian's injuries, and it was the drugs putting him in the state he was in. Which also leads me to wonder if anything was wrong with Nick in the first place, and if he needed that surgery they performed on him.
Since the place wasn't even a hospital, now I worry if any of their stuff was sterile, in which case Nick is really in trouble. That would explain a lot of why he's so bad off.

Thanks for the feedback! The Brian scenes in both 37 and 38 were so much fun to write! After basically writing a whole story in which the characters are lying in hospital beds, it was nice to finally be able to include some action.
Yeah, they were both fine before the freak squad got their hands on them. They used a neuromuscular blocking agent on Brian to paralyze him - same kind of drug that's used for general anesthesia, but without the sedatives and painkillers that put you to sleep and numb you up.
As for Nick, they flat out lied to him about a lot of things, but his physical symptoms were side effects of digoxin poisoning. When I first came up with this idea, I was going to use potassium because I knew too much or too little potassium will mess with your heart and can cause cardiac arrest in extreme cases, but once I started researching, I read that it burns when injected in the kind of doses they would need to trigger those kind of side effects, so that would be too obvious. Then I started looking into healthcare serial workers to see what other drugs one could get away with using without being obvious, and I discovered Charles Cullen, who was a nurse in New Jersey who killed a bunch of patients with digoxin. I read a whole book about him. Anyway, digoxin is the perfect drug for this because it's used to treat heart failure, arrhythmias, etc., but it can easily build to toxic levels and cause a lot of heart-related side effects that are similar to the symptoms of the conditions it's used to treat. So nothing was really wrong with Nick in the beginning, but he is legitimately sick now because of everything they've done to him, including implant that thing in him with materials that may not have been sterilized to hospital standards.

And I'm also glad Brian was rescued. When the boot of the car opened I really thought it was going to be Patrick, it was a relief that it was the police and they arrested Patrick.
Those poor guys have gone through so much, I just hope both survive.

Omg this chapter gave me anxiety too. Fucking Elizabeth. I'm so happy the police came to get her but I am hoping it's not too late. I'm glad Brian is somewhat okay, besides not being able to speak. Hoping they nab Dani somehow because she shouldn't get away Scott free. This is getting good! Can't wait for more.

OMG that was so intense, I really thought Elizabeth was going to successfully kill him on the operating table and get away with it. Thank god they found out about her just in time, or is it? It could be too late for him!

Really enjoyed the latest two chapters, but I agree with Tracy and think there's more in store for Nick. He's not going to suddenly make a full recovery from this and may end up needing that heart transplant after all :(
I'm so glad Brian is ok physically but I'm sure it will take a long time mentally to get over this.

Finally had a chance to read the latest, wow no wonder Brian was in tears telling Detective Overton the full story of what happened, it's a hell of a lot to go through and is going to take a long time for him to get over it. But talking does help. I was glad he even managed a little joke with Kevin too.
Those evil twins better not get off with their crime, and I hope Dani and Rob are caught and punished soon too!

Poor Nick, sounds awful to be lying there in an induced coma with his chest open like that and tubes everywhere. I'm glad he's got everyone around him though. I did like what Brian said to him though, I'm sure he will appreciate it if he can hear him.

Loved having two chapters to read. It was good for Nick to see Arya and his dad and sister, but I'm glad he made the decision to go back to the land of the living, it was a sweet moment though with them.
So happy he's going to be ok (for now) and that he's conscious again, Brian was right to get the restraints off as he would've been terrified to wake up and be tied down again. I'm also pleased that Dani and Rob have been caught, those sick bastards need to be locked away for a long time.

Super sweet reunion with Odin and what a lovely Christmas Eve they had.

Thanks, Steph! I know, I couldn't believe Lou was only 41 either when I looked it up! I would have thought late 40s at the youngest, maybe even early 50s. He definitely looked older in those old videos and photos. Just think, all the boys except Nick are older now than he was in 1995, and they all look much younger LOL. Eating right, working out, and taking care of yourself makes a huge difference.

If it ever closes, I will have the most useless piece of information stuck in my head forever! That's most of our local radio commercials though. We were in Florida once and that jewelry store I mentioned apparently expanded there and the directions in their commercial were "wrong" and I was pretty upset. I said out loud, "That is not how you get to the Shane Company!" My husband just rolled his eyes at me.
They're relatively quick to get through and I just want to know what happens next, so I'm going in about five chapter chunks, you know... unless it feels like a Nick and Howie chapter.
