Yeah, that could be cool.  So really, whatever goes - no need to claim an idea; just go for it!  BSB version of a fairy tale that represents your writing.

I'd say if we're choosing our own, let's let people choose whatever they want.  If it's one of the more obscure ones that everyone might not know, they could post a link to the original - I think most of them can be found online.

Are we going to allow duplicates, like more than one person tackling the same fairy take, or limit it to one person per tale?

That would be one of the advantages of everyone doing the same one.

I think if we allow duplicates, then, like Rose said, we'll be able to see different takes on the same story, which would be interesting, but we wouldn't have to all agree on the same story.  While I wouldn't mind doing Hansel and Gretel, I'm not sure everyone would want to... although I did just get a vague idea for what I could do with Hansel and Gretel, so, hm... LOL

It doesn't have to be Hansel and Gretel, it could be any of them. If people all did the same one, then we could guess who wrote which one as an added part of the challenge, but I like the other way too so it doesn't really matter to me. Like I said, I'm not sure if I'd even do it after all this anyway and then I'd end up being one of those annoying people I complain about who always come up with a ton of ideas for the challenges but then don't participate! LOL

The guessing part would definitely be fun.  Maybe we should just start a poll and vote on it.

Edit:  Now there is a poll.  If the majority votes to all write the same story, then we can make another one to decide what story.

Question though, if we vote on everyone does the same one, does that mean we can't Backstreet-ize it? Because in my mind either way we would Backstreet-ize it.

Oh no, we can still Backstreet-ize it. :)  That would be another part of the challenge, to see the different ways everyone chose to do that.

Looking at the poll results, it seems that the overwhelming majority would prefer we all pick the same fairy tale to write our own Backstreet versions of.  So... start throwing out some famous fairy tales that you think would work well for this challenge, and when we have enough suggestions, I'll start a new poll, and we can vote on it.  I think the only criteria for suggestions should be a fairy tale that everyone would be familiar with, not one of the obscure ones, and one that you could see being taken in a lot of different ways.
