honestly... it is a bit more work but now that I understand how to see if they are too big (thanx chaos) Im just trying to make them small in the first place. I know banners attract me to a story. I know the banner for my newest story helps attract interest if nothing else. (who wouldn't wanna read a story were the banner has a photo of a pregnant male) ok ok i'm rambling.... bottom line i think the reason people are not willing to put them in the story and instead put them in the summary is because allot of people like me get attracted to the photo. I know this dose not help the banner size problem but maybe some banner haters will at least see this and understand why some of us love them. I think if you understand the other persons veiw it makes it easier to get along with them.

I thikn everyone understands why people use banners. I just think they take up too much space. A story should be able to hold it's own without the use of a visual aid. My opinion that's not going to change anytime soon. lol

To yorkielover88: It's not a point of view, it's a rule to be followed if you are a participant of the site. Regardless of what your banner contains (which btw my answer would be about 90%) or what the story is about it's a rule. We're not "banner haters", that's just Mare, and just because you don't know how to use photoshop doesn't mean someone else doesn't. So it's a rule that's set, and people have to adapt to it. We don't adapt the rules to people as they join depending on their internet skills. It's as simple as that, if you can't follow the rules the option gets taken away.

to Julilly:

I don't recall yorkielover talking about people not knowing how to use photoshop, but how she likes banners. That, and I don't see how what you said about the rules had anything to do with what she said about her fondness of banners...

Well Kristine she pointed out that she didn't know how to make the graphics the correct size because she didn't understand the "pixel thing". She's definitely not alone but a lot of people do get it and are willing to help those who don't. We can't cater to one group or the other so the rule has to cover everyone. We can't say that banner rules only apply to those who know how to resize, or vice-versa.
She then made mention of Mare's "point of view" and unfortunately it's less her point of view (because hers would get rid of them completely) and more of a rule that Chaos, Mare, and myself have agreed on and upheld for almost three years now.
Any other issues?

FIRST OFF: Thanks to chaos i now know how to check a banner's pixel size thing. SECOND: my second comment was simply me trying to state why I think SOME people love the banners and why those people put them in their summary instead on in their chapters. THIRD: I understand the point of rules... I'm a teacher... trust me I get it! AND LASTLY: If everyone in the world had the same taste or preference this world world be pretty boring... I therefor try to respect others POV's and hope that in return they respect mine. I would never falter in what I believe or change how I think and would never ask someone else to. I only try to help people see each others views. I think when you understand someone else's POV you can better agree to disagree and not cause a huge fight or something over it.
