Aw poor Nick, so Lauren turned him down, but that needn't be the end, maybe she needs time to think about it?

Author's Response:

Or something like that :)  You'll find out eventually!

I'm thinking something must've happened with Lauren for him to turn up drunk like that.  Tequila is never a good idea lol.

Author's Response:

Not unless it's in a margarita.  I like margaritas....

Oooh, what does Nick want? I will find out later as I need to go and pick my kids up from school :)

Author's Response:

Ah, the stop reading to pick up the kid(s).  I know that one well :)

Ah, so now I see why she'd be so unsure about the whole music thing.  But she needs to live her life and grab opportunities when they are there.

Author's Response:

True!  But yes, she has her reasons.

OMG that was so sad, I would hate to be a doctor as I don't think I could handle losing a patient, especially someone so young.  I used to be a medical secretary at a doctor's surgery and that was enough for me!

Author's Response:

It's one of the (many) reasons I chose pharmacy over medicine.  Then, I ended up being a hospital pharmacist, and we tend to get summoned to codes to help with meds.  I hate them, but when you save one, it's awesome.

LOL at her son having a thing for the toilet, my son used to like to flush things away...like toys!!

Sounds like my usual evening too, finish the housework and then open up the laptop :)

Author's Response:

Knock on wood, but mine has never flushed anything.....yet.  He's barely 3, so there's still time!  lol

And sounds like my evening, too!

I hope she says yes and goes to record that song with Brian.  I also loved the fact she's going to post the photo on Twitter, it's what we'd all do isn't it :)

Author's Response:

Well, of course!

I finished! Now to adequately summarize my thoughts into a review... First off, there was a ton of drama packed into the last few chapters after the cruise! Annie's miscarriage came out of nowhere, although since she didn't even know she was pregnant, I guess it would! I loved finding out the story of what really happened with Nick and Lauren, and my heart broke for Nick, especially at the idea of him buying that little Bucs jersey in excitement and then not being able to use it. :( Now I just want him and Annie to make some more babies! LOL

I'm glad they got together in the end (as I knew they would) and that Brian seemed to pull the stick out of his ass and accept it. I was a little thrown off by the info that came out on the cruise about both Brian and Kevin and their marriages. I was really hoping you weren't going to veer off into love triangle territory with either or both of them competing with Nick for Annie's affections, so I'm glad you didn't. Brian & Leighanne and Kevin & Kristin are staples; they need to stay together! In a Nick romance, that is LOL. That said, it was nice to give Nick reason to have his doubts about who Annie was most interested in.

I'm glad Annie was able to get past worrying that she was betraying Andrew and let Nick have her heart, but I loved that that was a thread throughout the whole story. Like I said in another review, that underlying drama of the dead husband was one thing that hooked me early on. I love that she buried the cashmere throw at the end, but kept the rings - I would have wanted to slap her if she'd buried her rings! I'm glad Nick wouldn't have let her anyway.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I will definitely check out the sequel when you get around to writing it! :)

Author's Response:

Well, you definitely make up for the quantity of reviews throughout the story with quality!  I'm glad you still overall enjoyed the story.  Kevin's marriage was a little subplot I came up with to give that little touch of "love triangle" drama, but Brian's-- I never really intended to imply that there was anything underlying that was wrong with Brian's marriage.  Kevin implied it, but Brian's response to that was actually supposed to show the strength of his marriage.  There was a lot of speculation from other readers near the beginning that this was going to be a Brian romance, but it was never my intent. I really actually toyed with the idea of writing a companion piece that basically revolved around Kevin's story line, but when I really got to thinking about it, the idea of writing a story about that really depressed me.  Maybe if I'm ever feeling particularly angsty I'll give it a whirl.  For now, I'm actually about three chapters in to the sequel, and I'm going for suspense, which is as much as I'll give away.  It sounds awesome in my head, but we'll see how it translates into writing.  I'm actually already about three chapters in, but can't imagine starting to post it while I already have two active stories on the most recent page.  That being said, I've been so excited about the new one that I haven't been able to work on the other two, and the sweatpants story technically takes place after this sequel, so we'll see.

Still reading! You were right; I loved the little bit of medical drama with Nick's food poisoning scare (poor Nick), and I also loved how it came back around when Annie got seasick on the cruise. Luckily he had that Zofran handy! LOL You work in the medical field, right? I know you've mentioned it on the forum, but I can tell, too, because your medical info is right on! That either takes real expertise or intense research LOL.

I'm also loving these cruise chapters - they're bringing back some good memories of the last cruise and getting me excited for the next one!! Did you go on the last one, and are you going this year?

P.S. I think that last review I left you may have indeed set a record for longest review, even from me - and you know I'm long-winded! I'll never make the most prolific reviewer list, but I could totally be on the longest review-giver! LOL That's another sign I'm enjoying it, though; otherwise I wouldn't bother!

Author's Response:

I would have LOVED to go on a cruise, but alas, it just isn't really feasible for me to go with a husband and little one at home.  Now that he's older, maybe some time if there is ever another one. but I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through the rest of you for now. Until recently, I didn't really have a lot of friends in the "fandom," so it would have been a little weird for me to go by myself.  Too bad, too, because the cruise this year happens on my birthday!  So, the glimpses of the crusie that are real are actually from my watching YouTube videos and wishing I'd been there! And yes, I work in the medical field.  I'm a hospital pharmacist (part-time), and the rest of the time I stay at home with my almost three year old.  I know just enough to have to do basically zero research on the medical stuff.

Emily! Oh my gosh. I took a peek at this story the other day after I read the red sweatpants one and realized it was the companion (okay, and after what you said about Nick and Annie being like your Nick and Claire and that you were writing another story about them that would be more my speed), and it looked cute and well-written from the first chapter, so I thought, "Hey, maybe I'll come back and give this a try sometime when I'm looking for something to read." Well, I couldn't sleep, so I pulled it up on my Kindle and started reading, oh, about two hours ago... and now that I just finished Chapter 20, I figured I should get back on the computer and leave you a review!

I can't remember the last fanfic I read 20 chapters of in one sitting just for the heck of it, and especially not a romance. I was trying to think back, and I'm pretty sure I haven't read a real romance (not just a story that has some romance in it, but a ROMANCE romance) for fun, not for a challenge or judging an awards or because someone asked me to, in like 6 years. So this is a huge accomplishment for me and an even bigger compliment to your storytelling skills!

I'm actually really enjoying this story (obviously, or I wouldn't have made it 20 chapters in and be reviewing right now). Even though it's definitely a female-centered romance, it has all the characteristics I like in romance. Annie is both likable and believable, and I love her back story - tragically interesting, but not over-the-top so. The fact that she's a doctor helped bring in some of the medical drama I love - the chapter where she loses the little boy was heartbreaking. And, most importantly, I'm loving the way you've portrayed Brian and Nick!! Leighanne, too - all the characters, actually! And as far as the storyline goes, it's got just enough underlying drama to keep it interesting and plenty of humor to keep it entertaining. I haven't been bored yet, and that's saying something! Usually I don't make it past the first few chapters in this type of story LOL. Sorry for not reviewing every chapter so far; it's too much of a hassle to do from my Kindle, but I hope this long review makes up for it. You can expect more reviews as I read on. Just wanted to let you know I'm reading and enjoying it so far! :)

Author's Response:

Holy crap, Julie!  Do they make a top-ten list for longest reviews?  I think you'd make it on there!  I'm glad you decided to give this one a chance, and even more glad that you're actually enjoying it!  I hope I don't "jump the shark" somewhere along the line and turn you off. lol.  I don't remember exactly where in the story chapter 20 is, so I'll maybe have to go check it out, just so I can somewhat know what you're talking about!  There's a tiny bit more medical drama-- at least I don't think you're quite there yet.  And the sequel is coming along nicely in my head-- just need to manage to write it down!

I have to be honest, when I saw that it was a Brian story I was a little put off. He's last on my BSB list lol. But I'm really enjoying what I've read so far and I really like how you describe things without too much detail. Good job!

Author's Response:

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!  Trith be told, Brian's pretty low on my list, too, but this particular plotline just wouldn't get out of my head and Brian seemed the best way for Annie to "get her foot in the door," so to speak.  I always worry about the descriptive aspect of my stories.  It's so easy to get bogged down in the details and lose the story.  On the other hand, not enough detail is bad, too.  Thanks for thinking I do a good job with that!

Oh damn! I thought she was a nurse too, nice twist. Poor Brian, Leighanne is going to chew him up!

Author's Response:

Haha.  The stereotypes are still there, even in 2013.  I work in a hospital (NOT a doctor), and some of our best nurses are male, so it goes both ways.
