Oh my god! After all that persuasion this happens! I do hope the doctors get to him in time and that he has the transplant. I really think Nick and Howie can get through this and be friends again. Nick wasn't just saying it to get him to have the operation.

So, I apparently missed this update when you posted it. Ooooops! Anyways, I enjoyed seeing the conversation from Howie's perspective. It's always nice to know what both sides are thinking. The description of Howie's mom really got to me. I have a hard time accepting the fact that my parents are getting older so I could totally relate to Howie and what he was thinking/feeling in that moment even though I'm 10+ years younger than him. Great update!

Author's Response: Thanks! I thought this one was a good one to show from both sides. I felt for both Howie and his mom in this situation too. It's hard enough watching our parents growing older and knowing that we're going to face losing them someday, but on the other side of things, I can't imagine being a parent and facing the loss of a child either. Of course you would end a perfectly lovely chapter with THAT!! Ugh! I was feeling all warm and fuzzy as Nick and Howie were finally having a real conversation and then you had to go and make Howie go all rigid and dying and stuff. *sniff* How could you DO that?? LOL Seriously though, great update!! :)

Oh dear, the courage it took for Nick to swallow his pride and visit Howie in the ICU. That sorta thing is never easy to do and especially considering the circumstances, you can feel Nick's stress factor in response to the matter. There's such an inner turmoil being conveyed and I really do like how you express it. And then at the end with Howie's seizure and the helplessness Nick feels... Lady, you've always been one of my favorite torturers. LOL Can't wait for an update!

I keep saying poor Howie, and right now, I'm sat here thinking poor Howie once again.

I can sort of understand the way he feels, his wife doesn't want him, he's got HIV and given it to others, and feels like there's nothing to live for. But I hope something or someone can change his mind before it's too late. He's still got so much to do in life, he can't give up!

I'm glad the nurse jabbed him with the syringe before he had a chance to escape. Maybe Nick will be the one he listens to? If Nick ever plucks up the courage to visit him.

Hmmmmm so I'm thinking that Howie will change his mind about getting the liver transplant and the only way he will be able to have it is from a living donor. None of the other guys will be a match except for - wait for it - NICK!! HAHA Am I right?? :P Seriously though, I enjoyed this chapter. I really felt for Howie; wanting to leave the hospital and see his kids. Like I've said before, the way in which you present Howie's internal struggles comes across as very realistic. Eagerly awaiting the next update!!

OMG, so, I totally wanted to scream at Nick in this chapter!! Really?? I know that he's kinda pissed at Howie and all (understatement of the century there), but AJ needed to convince him to go to the hospital?! Come on now!! I know that Nick doesn't really want Howie to die, but I can see how it would be hard for him to suck it up and go talk to him. I'm excited to see where this all ends up. Also, as an aside, it would be great if you checked out Soldier Down. It's been a battle for me to find time to write recently, so I'm definitely appreciative of any type of feedback. :)

Author's Response: No, Nick doesn't want Howie to die, but he's also afraid to face him, after everything that's gone down. He's going to have to get past the awkwardness though, for the sake of his friend. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing! I have seen Soldier Down on the Most Recent and definitely want to check it out when I have more time! I am swamped right now getting ready for school, which starts next week, but maybe this weekend I will have some time to read. I will definitely leave you some reviews if I do. :)
