Well, now that I'm up with a newborn at all hours of the night and morning, I've got some time to read and catch up. These past couple chapters were so well-written. Of course, my favorite part is the fact that Nick 's breaking down at the prospect of losing Howie, and that he went to extremes to save his life, regardless of how angry he might be at him .
Author's Response: Congratulations!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the last couple of chapters. Yes, actions speak louder than words, and I think Nick's actions here show that he doesn't really hate Howie, despite what may say. Thanks for taking the time to review!

Poor Howie :( although he did it to himself, I feel so bad for him anyway because he is going through a lot. It's also sad that he is asking for Leigh. Hopefully Nick talks to him soon. My heart is breaking a little for Howie. I think the saddest part of this chapter was that he kept asking about Leigh. I really like how you've managed to capture all of his conflicting emotions. You're making it easy to get inside Howie's head, which is not something that many people seem to be able to do!

He seems like such a happy-go-lucky guy in real life that it's hard to envision him as this suicidal mess, even though he has his reasons for feeling this way. Go Nick!! I found the fact that he told Kevin off to be beyond satisfying!! If I were in Nick's position, I probably would have done the same thing. Sometimes Kevin needs to learn when to keep his advice to himself. In all fairness, I feel as though Nick has every right to hate Howie at the moment. He has put him through hell and it will take him a while to get over it (if he does at all). As much as I feel badly for Howie, I am totally team Nick at this point. :)

Awwww Poor Nick. Kevin was only trying to be there for both of them but he does have every freaking right to be pissed. Howie's basically destroyed his life repeatedly. He almost did it again. At least for a moment he did see why Howie did it.

As much of a tool bag Nick has been through most of the story I feel so bad for him in this chapter. Nick you're a big fat liar because if you didn't care for Howie you'd have let him die. You wouldn't have gone to his house and rushed him to the hospital. So stop putting on a front. ugh. I want to hug him but hit him for not going to see Howie because by not seeing him he may make the Problem worse. Can't wait for the next chapter. I know you don't like begging but I have no shame in begging for updates lol. Update soon!!

No one knows how they would truly react in a situation unless they live it..but I think I'd probably react the same as Nick...so full of rage at Howie. I'm sure it will calm down with time, but seeing him right now..I don't think I could either..especially with it all so fresh, as horrible as that sounds.
But then you have poor Howie...who already thinks his life is useless and Nick refusing to see him is not gonna help him any. Its such an effed up situation...So many high running emotions. I'm really interested in seeing how they are, or IF they are, gonna push thru this.
Author's Response: Thanks, Jen! I would imagine Nick feels so conflicted. On one hand, he's still angry at Howie and resents having all this dumped on him, but even though he keeps saying he hates Howie, I think deep down he still cares about him. I tried to show that through his tears a couple chapters ago and when he told Kevin, "He scared the shit out of me." But you're right; it's not going to help Howie any if Nick's refusing to see him and still claiming to hate him. Thanks so much for the review!

I'm glad the boys were there for him and told him that he is loved etc, he needed some positive words in his going down the pan life didn't he. Will it make Leigh come back though? I'll have to wait and see.

The previous two chapters were intense. I shed some tears when Nick found Howie passed out in the living room. If I were Nick, I'd have the urge to shake Howie violently and beat his chest until he breathed properly, which would probably only make things worse.
What a relief Howie made it out alive. It was such a twist that Kevin and AJ. Dammit Howie, when your body recovers, I should punch you in the shoulder for not spending your New Year's Eve with AJ instead of your depressing house. I'm glad that Leigh cried when she got the call from Kevin. Hopefully she'll let him see the kids again.

I say this a lot but POOR HOWIE. I feel so so bad for him. Now granted I'd like to smack him for doing this in the first place trying to kill himself, I in a way cannot blame him for being so depressed. I hope one day he and Nick will talk and kind of be okay even though it wont happen for a while. Loved the update!

I think I was just as surprised as Howie to find out that it was Kevin and AJ in the waiting room. I was all geared up for a big, emotional reunion between Nick and Howie LOL. I suppose that I will have to wait for that little bromance moment.

Yay for HIV Howie! He's alive! Not dead! LOL. Howie is definitely in no way alright. He's got so much he needs to work on. Poor AJ and Kevin, they've had a rough night. Howie's still thinking pretty selfishly. Instead of thinking about how you fucked up, think of what you just did to everyone and how many people love you. I get why he's thinking so selfishly but I still wanna kick him LOL. Great angst fill chapter ZDR!

I hope there's no lasting damage done. Thank god Nick found him and they took the empty pill bottles to the hospital. If Nick hadn't given him mouth to mouth (which would've made me gag too with the vomit lol) he would've been dead on arrival. Poor Howie. I keep saying that in my reviews, but I'm actually sitting here saying it too, I feel so sorry for everything he's going through :(
