YAY i love it. it's so angsty and perfect! I love how she's feeling guilty. It's exactly what she should be feeling in her situation. But at the same time I think that nick realizes it's going to get more and more complicated as it goes!

You wouldn't let them get away that easy.
I did consider the possibility that he might have been injured, so he was coming home early, and then Lyss wouldn't want to tell him until he was better..yada yada yada....
Really good Chapter though. It kind of hits close to home for me because I had 3 friends die when I was in Iraq, so I kindof know the pain.

No I definitely wouldn't... The injury theory is a good one though. Wish I can say more, but yea just keep reading lol. I'm sorry about your friends. It is very hard losing loved ones, especially in this kind of situation. All I can say is that Ian's death is going to have a very big impact on both Alyssa and Sean both which will obviously change things a lil for Alyssa and Nick.

Wow! I have to say I was a little suspicious about this update. I found it to be too convenient for Sean to die... Quess my suspiciousness was right, LoL! I loved the chapter before as well. Although I hated the part that Nick had to please Shayla, my god! If I was in his shoes at that moment... I would have never get into that with her! Bleh! He just needs to drop the bomb with her! Anyways, will Alyssa find out or does she already knows about that particular evening?? It's getting more interresting with the minute (sort of speak)

Ha! Yes you know me too well. C'mon I'm the queen of drama and angst here. Would I really take the easy way out and kill off Sean? That would make things too simple lol. The Nick and Shayla scene from last chapter was rough I admit. It was a pretty bad sitation, but keep in mind that Nick is still married to her and trying to keep things stable for now. As for whether or not Alyssa will find out? Honestly? I'm not sure... I don't exactly think its something that Alyssa HAS to know about becayse she has said she has no say so in Shayla and Nick's sex life. I'm sure Nick feels guilty about it but remember the first time they'd really seen in each other in a while had been this chapter and Alyssa was obviously very upset over Ian's death. So yea... There were bigger issues at hand and truthfully the next few chapters are going to make that look like the least of their problems.

Interesting last couple of chapters, Mel! As sad as it was that Ian died, it was good set up for what I can only expect to be coming. And Nick having to sleep with Shayla? Ick. I mean I guess I feel bad for her, but jeez. Hopefully things will eventually get easier for Nick and Alyssa, but I'm sure they've got a lot of drama ahead of them before that happens. I'm waiting impatiently for more!
Author's Response: Thanks Steph! Yea Ian's death is actually going to lead to a very interesting chain of events that you may not expect. As for the previous chapter yea definitely an awkward scene. I didn't :o)...and you little sneak, I didn't realize you were this far along in this chapter or that you were going to update. I really liked how Alyssa was with Kim, that she was able to put her differences aside. I also love the tenderness in the last scene with Nick and Alyssa...says so much. I really wanted to finish the Kim/Callie/ Alyssa scene last night and I did, but then I was like hmm... the Nick and Alyssa scene shouldn't be TOO long, so I just pounded it out while I was still feeling it. Yes, I agree that it was very mature of Lyss to put Kim first even though Kim hasn't been the nicest person to her lately. And I'm glad you liked the chemistry between Alyssa and Nick. I'm amazed myself at how comfortable they seem to be together. Thanks as always Darbs!

Author's Response: Yea it REALLY is tough. My best friend in college, her boyfriend (now husband) was in the Air Force and he was overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq for a bit. She was a wreck 24/7. Anytime she heard that there was a bombing anywhere she'd be in tears. She made me swear that I'd never get involved with a military guy and I don't think I could honestly. It definitely takes a very strong woman.

Author's Response: Yea... Its definitely a really hard internal struggle for Alyssa. She knows that its wrong to keep him in the dark, but her heart just isn't in it anymore. And a part of her of course stil cares about Sean as a person which could cause a little trouble down the road.

Author's Response: I know... You have to feel bad for her being so young and everything. It's tough for any woman to lose a husband, but at that young and after being married that short of a time its really tragic. The next few chapters are definitely going to get progressively more interesting. Climax is in another two to three chapters.

It was an interesting chapter, I didn't expect anything like that to happen. And to think that Alyssa might want to slow things down with Nick... =( I hope Sean comes back soon so Alyssa can confess and be with Nick.

Author's Response: Ha I can definitely see how at first you would probably think that, but Sean is too easy to kill off. It's too convienent I think. So, Ian was a nice little twist. Not central enough of a character to make a huge difference, but close enough to Alyssa and Sean to really be upset over. All I can say is that Sean may be coming home in the near future...

WOW!!!! Great update. I really wanna feel bad for Shayla, because I think that if I were in her position it would be very dificult, however, I just can't. I found myself feeling bad for Nick, having to do something he really didn't want to do. It makes me smile though...realizing just how much Nick has changed from the first story.... I bet he is still going to feel really guilty the next time he sees Lyss.

Author's Response: Oh, even I was feeling bad for Shayla, so don't worry about that. It's definitely an awful thing to have to experience especially coming from Nick, but I think you'll start to see this is all building up inside her and when it exlodes it won't be pretty. I tried to make Nick as less of a dick as i possibly could under the circumstances because lets face it, it's a pretty shitty thing for him to do, but she WAS begging and he tried sort of lol. As for how this will impact things w/Lyss we'll see, Next time he sees Lyss they might have other things on their minds. ..
