Ha Nick and Brian's bitter rivalry is proving to be very entertaining. It's a lot different than most fan fics where they are the best of friends. I loved Nick letting Brian feel dumb that he couldn't start the car. I noticed that AJ brought up Nick's sister? What's that all about? I am sure all will be revealed in time right?
Author's Response: Thanks! We thought we'd go a different route than starting with them as Frick 'n Frack, BFFs, since they don't really know each other yet. I always enjoyed reading these parts with them fighting. The back story about Nick's sister hasn't fully been revealed yet, but it will... it explains some things about why he feels the way he does. Author's Response: Moonwalking penguin spies...what else would you find in Antartica? LOL. Actually, we feel this is the episode where we really started finding our groove in the story and as a collaboration. Definitely looking forward to your thoughts on it!

I loved how you used Titanic dialogue for this chapter. I also think that this blonde is the chick they are looking for....that Leo is a double agent...I have a lot of guesses but I will keep reading. Loved the update!!! Nick is a madman and its hot.

I don't doubt that we have not seen the last of Justin... Howie really reminds me of Dr. Evil now. Just replace the ferret with that creepy hairless cat and perfect match! Very interesting that Nick's next mission will be with Brian. Guess we will get to learn a lot more about Brian's character in the next episode.

Ahh... So Justin is working for Howie? How funny that I can picture Howie being a bad guy in sort of a Dr. Evil kind of way. (By the way thought I'd break your chops by reminding you that you guys used one of your fan fic pet peeves by describing Howie's eyes as onyx LOL) I don't think we've met Emerald right? I've heard her mentioned, but I don't think she was formerly introduced right? I am loving the porn staresque names for the girls. Diamond Divine... Emerald Ectascy... That is just so full of win right there.
Author's Response: LOL Yeah, Howie is totally a spoof of Dr. Evil, who is a spoof of one of the Bond villains, Blofeld. He's my (Julie) favorite character - probably the first and only time I'll say that about Howie! LOL And about the onyx eyes - I KNOW!!! I was rerereading some of this yesterday in the course of responding to reviews, and that is one of several descriptions that gave me the idea for the pet peeve thread. (The onyx one happens to be mine, too, sadly.) Anyway... yeah, I believe this was the first appearance of Emerald in the story. We had fun coming up with the gemstone aliases... total pornstar names, yes LOL. Thanks again, Mel!!

I LOVE the group performances on Idol. SOOO much drama. The line about Elizabeth and the diaphragm cracked me up, but that is my sick sense of humor I guess. The fact that Joe can't sing and he got through again makes me think that maybe he's connected to FANS somehow. Or maybe I'm just extra paranoid? Loved the flashback again and it showed a lot of Pearl's character and the moral dillema she had to face. I think she did the right thing though even though it led Justin to the dark side.

This was an uncomfortable chapter for me to read due to the very gory image of Justin's eye popping out of his head and Lancy's x-rated day dreams about Justin and Nick *shudders* lol. Too close to slash for me. I know that you guys love the gore and I'm sure that had to be a Julie scene with the eye popping out right? I'm not one for squeamish details so I guess this was a challenge for me. Anyway I really liked the flashbacks in the chapter and how we got those flashbacks through different character's perspectives. Things are definitely becoming a lot clearer now.

Now it's starting to come together! It figures Nick would do something like accidentally shoot himself in the arm and cause Justin's face to practically be eaten away by chemicals. I find it interesting that Agent K favors 008. Aww... Kevin always did have a soft spot for Nicky :) lol
Author's Response: LOL at least it was an accident. (Although actually Nick's arm got sprayed with the chemical, he didn't shoot himself. But I may not have made that clear in my attempt to be vague-ish lol). I love the Kevin/Nick bond, so it tends to appear in anything I write in haha.

I knew it was Justin! I do have to admit though that I was pretty confused this chapter and had to read things a few times. Some of it could be me because I tend to read fast and in stories where there's a lot of action in it I tend to skim over important details. Why was Nick auditioning again? Was this the next round of auditions? If it was I wished that it was clearer. And that scene with who I assume was Pearl and AJ was confusing. At first I thought they were bad guys watching Nick and Diamond so that could've been more specific. All in all though I am intrigued to read one and find out why Justin left Himitsu Takana.
Author's Response: I must admit, some of the scenes in this episode were meant to be confusing. Was it really Pearl and AJ watching... or was it someone else? You'll find out in the next episode, which follows up to this one and clarifies things a lot. You get the whole Justin back story in the next episode, too. If you were to go back and reread some of those scenes after reading the next episode, they should make more sense - not that we would expect you to; it's nothing that important. As for the question of why Nick was auditioning, his mission was to infiltrate the competition to track the terrorists thought to have already infiltrated it... and that mission continues into the next episode. It really could have and should have probably all been one continuous episode, but this was back when we were trying to keep things short - ha! ;) Thanks for the great questions and insight, Mel!

I think I may have an idea who is behind this one... We'll have to see if I'm correct. Nick's audition was pretty funny although I'm not sure if I believe that he could actually make up a song as cheesy as If You Want It to Be Good Girl... on the spot like that. I think that probably takes some calculated thought lol. Again it may be the change in writers, but I found it odd that in the last chapter and then again in this chapter there were scenes with Pearl and AJ that didn't identify that they were the characters in the scene right away if at all. That was a little confusing at first. I had to go back and reread those scenes a few times, but I got it now!

This chapter was really entertaining with the Global Idol auditions which is obviously a cheap rip off of American Idol. I even think you got Randy, Paula, and Simon down to a T. Could totally picture them saying those lines to Diamond during the audition. And we got a glimpse about what happened on Nick's last mission. Did he accidentally kill Justin?

Hopefully you get this review since I'm on the mirror site Chaos created while AC is down. I had to laugh at the part where Nick sticks the mission note in his pants and they go on fire. I kind of felt the last scene with Diamond was a little choppy compared to the beginning, but I am assuming there may have been a change in writers in the two scenes. On to try and read some more and see how this mission takes off!

I'm reading this for the challenge since action/adventure is not usually my thing. But so far I am intrigued. I enjoyed Nick humming the Mission Impossible theme to himself, lol. I also really like LancyBassy, that's too funny!
Author's Response: Yay! The first episode is definitely the introduction to everything, so if that catches your attention, it picks up a lot as the episode goes on.
