Another great chap! I think it's realistic that Kevin would worry about Nick, but I love how it took Howie saying somehow to him. They all just seem to be preoccupied. I live how none of them have anything ready for the record company...something tells me they'll end up with that greatest hits album. Lol. Nick needs to get it together and at least call people back! Wonder if he'll show up. Hope you update soon :)
Author's Response: Thanks Sel! I think that Kevin would worry about Nick as well. You never know about the greatest hits... lol ;) Nick really needs to get his ass in gear! I thought it was funny that Howie was the one worried about Nick, and Kevin wasn't... until Howie called, and now Kevin's panicking too. I loved where Kevin thought, "Isn't Howie supposed to be the one who keeps us all calm?" LOL I also loved him thinking of how Brian always told his mom everything, even if it would get him in trouble. I can believe it; Brian's such a mama's boy. That's so cute, though! I could still sense Brian's frustration and almost desperation in his scene, still trying to write songs with no inspiration. And ohhh Nick... LOL I guess they have reason to be worried. I laughed when he was thinking about what Kevin would say if he showed up and caught Nick smoking pot. I imagined him going "Drugs are bad, mmkay?" like Mr. Mackey on South Park. Another great chapter, Steph!
Author's Response: Thanks, Julie! I thought it would only be natural for Kevin to worry about Nick as soon as someone mentioned it to him. Brian is adorable. :) I just pictured him as a little kid crying to his mom about something he and his brother had done, lol. They definitely have reasons to be worried about poor Nick :( He is going down a dark path, and I guess he feels like he has no one to turn to and that the guys are just out to get him and ruin his fun. LOL at the South Park comment! I could totally picture Kevin saying it like that! Thanks again for the review! I'm glad you liked it!

I loved the conversation between Howie and Kevin and that it ended with Howie panicking Kevin lol I can see that happening. Also the fact that no one has anything to show the record company and they feel like it's all on Nick's shoulders and in the meantime he's being a pothead. lol Once again, you created a very realistic picture of things, in my mind anyway. Great update. I feel like Nick is being selfish. He should answer Howie's calls, some calls are important. The guys are really stressing about the upcoming meeting with Jive. Can't wait for more.

Just out of curiosity, did you ever think that when you started writing this, you would be writing it while AJ was back in rehab? lol I'm not laughing at the fact that's he's back in rehab, just the timing of it all with this story I guess...crazy.
Author's Response: LOL I honestly had no idea. I agree the timing is weird... I had been thinking about writing this for quite a while before I posted it though but yeah, it is weird! I honestly did feel a little bad about posting it, because I remember back in 2001 when this happened some fic writers took their stories about AJ's alcohol abuse down out of respect for the situation. But whatever lol it's just fiction

I loved this chapter!! The beginning scene reminded me so much of this old humor story: http://www.dreamers-sanctuary.com/dwlyn/nickysong.html LOL I felt sorry for the guys, feeling so much pressure to write songs and no inspiration to actually do it. It's like writing anything, I guess; as soon as it becomes homework, the fun is taken out of it. I loved Nick's scene as usual; the way you write his narration is so funny. LOL at "They played that stupid NSync song that Howie likes." Love it!!
Author's Response: Thanks Julie! I LOVED that story back in the day, and I completely forgot about it until just now. So thanks for linking it :) There is definitely a lot of pressure on them, and they're going through such a rough period in their careers. I can see why they'd be unmotivated and almost bored at this point. The Nick scene was the most fun for me to write.. the other guys were so thoughtful and he's just all "Beer! Girls! Woo!" So glad to see an update! This was a great chap. I especially liked Brian's thought process. He just seems to enjoy spending time with family and not being able to focus on work...understandable. Seems like Howie really is worried. Wonder why he hasn't talked to other guys about it. And I can't wait to see if Nick will show.

I kind of hit a wall with this story but then a bunch of ideas came to me when I was at the gym today... go figure, I would get inspired when I am in no place to sit down and write LOL. This chapter was really insightful. You're doing a great job at setting them up for the big hiatus. I know they finished out the tour after AJ got out of rehab, but I bet they were feeling much the same way as they are in the story, with all the other things they have going on in their lives. I love the way you're setting up for Brian and Leighanne having Baylee, Howie and Leigh's relationship, Kevin getting tired of being a Backstreet Boy and wanting to get back into acting, and Nick veering down the wrong path with his partying. Some good things, some bad, but you're doing a fantastic job writing all of them. Are you going to write their visit with AJ? I forgot when in the story that was supposed to happen, but I was looking forward to it. Loving the story, and glad I'm caught up now! :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the compliment! I really want to show that they started to grow apart and that they are going in separate directions in their lives at this point. I'm really enjoying thinking about how things are now compared to how things were then and trying to piece it all together.. so I'm so happy to see that you think I'm doing a good job with the set up! Another great chapter! The way they're feeling, especially Kevin and Howie in their parts, reminds me of us writers with writer's block. The whole feeling of "I know I should write, but the inspiration isn't there, and I don't really want to..." The part where Kevin was watching the old tour videos, trying to relive the glory days, really gave me that vibe. I loved the scene of Brian and Leighanne gardening together - very cute!! And Nick and his pizza and N64... classic Nick LOL. Love it!

I'm finally catching up - sorry for slacking on this story so bad, Steph! It has nothing to do with you or the story; I'm still loving it! I liked Nick's scene the best in this chapter. Chris seems like a total douche, letting the girls come back to Nick's place and promising the one she could sleep with Nick if she slept with him first LOL. Still wondering what kind of trouble Nick's going to get himself into, hanging out with that guy... Reading on!
