Brian needs to stop being so selfish. He's in his bubble of happiness and doesn't even see what is going on with the other guys. Gah. I want to just slap him. I felt sorry for Nick again here, all he wants is a mom and she's not giving him that :( I liked the transition between Nick's and Brian's parts with the mom stuff. Great chapter as always Steph!
Author's Response: Brian is definitely beings really selfish, he needs to get out of the bubble! But I can see why he's doing it - I think at this point he really did just view BSB as a job and the others as his coworkers, which I think is pretty sad. I feel sorry for Nick here too. Poor guy, his family life is so messed up, and now his BSB life is quickly getting messed up as well. Thanks Tracy :)

It would be nice to be the Kevin who everyone looked out for once in a while instead of the Kevin who looked out for everyone <-- I really loved that line! It perfectly summed up Kevin nicely!
This was a great chapter. I love how you had the common thread of all of them talking to their moms, minus Howie and the different relationship they all have in regards to that. On the one hand you have Brian's mom call him baby duck and the other hand you have Jane not really caring about her son in the least. It explains so much how and why they act the way they do.
Glad you got a chance to update! Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the bit about Kevin, I really enjoyed writing that part and I thought it would be nice to show the divide between Kevin's home life and work life. They all have such different home lives that I thought I'd touch on it a little, especially since I think during the break they would want to go home and see their families - except for Nick for the obvious reasons, haha. Brian's lost in his Leighanne world the last few chapters, um hello....what about everyone else! LOL I always thought he'd leave the group first to be quite honest. I loved how Kevin and Howie were so happy to have AJ smiling again. As for Nickolas, he needs to be kicked a few times lol I'm surprised Howie isn't annoyed yet. Great chapter, as always :)

Aww, I'm glad that AJ's doing well and that Kevin got to go visit him! I thought it was interesting that he called Howie first to update him, and then they were both wondering if the other two would go visit him. It kinda just hit home the growing divide you've been showing throughout these chapters. They're just all in such different places in their lives, career-wise and relationship-wise. I laughed at Nick's description of Howie's guest room... "creepy bed and breakfast vibe" LOL. Great chapter!
Author's Response: I think Kevin knew that Howie would be the most receptive to his call, haha. It's sad, Brian probably would be too busy (as evidenced in the Howie scene) and Nick... well he was still sleeping and being a grubby brat. lol. There definitely is a growing divide between them, and I'm glad you think I've been showing that well. LOL I could totally imagine Howie's house looking all Bed and Breakfast-y. Whichever random 1D guy made you come back to this story, kiss him for me! Plus i'm on my computer so I was able to read it big and not tiny! Extra bonus! It's sad how much they are enjoying this little break. I loved Kevin's thoughts at the beginning, especially what he was really thinking as opposed to what he actually told AJ. I also love that Howie is the voice of reason, like the one who gets it all! Brian just continues to make me mad and sad lol and Nick cracks me up! Maybe if he just sits there long enough Howie will feed him and wouldn't you know it...there he goes! Howie the enabler! Great chapter! Looking forward to more!

I could see what I was saying in my last review about Brian and Kevin needing that time off to start their families in the Kevin part at the beginning of this chapter. I definitely see both of them being homebodies to an extend and enjoying that time at home. The part with Brian and Leighanne going swing dancing was really cute! I liked his whole reaction to it - typical guy! LOL And Nick... this line just says it all: "But at least I was a hot pig." That is so Nick LOL. Disgustingly hot. I'm eager to read about Kevin visiting AJ before he goes to Kentucky. Keep up the great work!

Catching up! You've been productive this weekend!! I enjoyed this chapter. I may have already said this in a review once, but even though I'm a Brian girl, I was always worried Brian was going to be the first to leave the group, especially back in this era when he and Leighanne were about to start a family, and you captured that well. They just seem so happy living in their little marriage bubble that I could see him not wanting to go back on tour. I think it's a good thing that the big hiatus happened when it did to give him that time, because I think Kevin left for the same reasons. Speaking of Kevin, I thought it was cute that he called Howie up at random to ask him to do something because he actually missed just hanging out, and it was funny that Howie was so weirded out by it. Nick's whole take on their lame dinner party cracked me up, but wow, what a douche he is! LOL Reading on!
Author's Response: It was a pretty productive weekend, yeah! My friend and I did a writing day where we basically locked ourselves in my apartment and wrote as much as we could. I was always worried Brian was going to leave the group as well, just because he seemed very family oriented. I was also worried that they were never going to come back after the greatest hits just because of that. I definitely agree with you in the thought that Kevin probably left for those reasons. But I think at this time Kevin would've been sad to not be going back on tour, so that's why I had him call up Howie, haha. I'm glad you thought that was cute :) LOL Nick is definitely a douche. I like how you described the two Kevin's in this one. The family guy and the music guy. It must be hard to find that balance. Nick with his chick thoughts lol I am so glad he's not that guy anymore. The naive, sunshine & rainbows me hopes maybe he was never that bad to begin with lol Brian swinging. I can actually see that happening! Even though this felt like a filler chapter, the really important thing is how well they are all adjusting to life not on the road, except for Nick who seems to really need it to occupy his time.
