I really loved this first chapter.
It goes strict to the point of Nick's secret, without giving too much detail but enough to interest the reader and to make him want to keep reading. One thing that I really liked is the fact that Nick doesn't love his power, especially because he doesn't allow him to protect and save his lover.
The sotry reminds me of "Ghost Whisperer" and that's a positive plus since I loved that show!

Author's Response: Hey girl! Sorry for the late reply to your reviews, I was on a month vacation in the Philippines. I tried to spend all my time with the kids so I stayed away from the computer. Actually, I'm a big fan of ghost whisperer and maybe this story was a result of that. But the plot of the story started with Brian committing suicide and Nick will be able to see his ghost. Nick will try to find the answer why Brian committed suicide and help him cross over, but since I can't kill Brian, I just made him meet random ghost. Then, I realized it is so like the Ghost Whisperer. lol

Damn Ritz... why haven't I read this fic sooner?! Lol. This is a GREAT story!! I've come to realize that you have a very interesting way of starting off most of your fics, and the way you start off really reels readers in! What a tragic thing to start off with, but the ending of this chapter is absolutely beautiful!
Poor Nick... to not only lose the one you love, but to have that ability as well. The ending, with Kate blowing him kisses and mouthing that she loved him, that he'd be okay and she'd wait for him... :'( And it's sooo cool that the girl's name is Leila in here, because I have Layla in Last Christmas, that was inspired by Eric Clapton's song. That only means we have great minds! ;) Lol.
But man oh man, what a way to start this story off, the introductory really sucked me in!! I seriously LOVE what I'm reading so far, and I can't wait to read the next chapter! :)

Try to imagine my reaction when I saw 62 reviews, and I couldn't believe it. lol To be honest, I re-write the first chapter thrice and I was glad this was the end result. I couldn't believe I was able to write something like this... Thanks to Lore for helping me out, she suggested the beautiful ending. Thank you for giving my fic a chance. :)

I just recently got into reruns of the show Ghost Whisperer (and loving it) and this story has put me into the mindset of that show. I'm LOVING it so far. Can't wait to see where this story goes!! Great start!!

Maybe my love for Ghost Whisperer show helped me draft this story subconsciously. lol Because my first idea was Brian commiting suicide, and Nick would investigate his death and would make the person he blame for Brian's death pay for it. And he could only solve the mystery if he would be able to deal with ghosts and other paranormal stuff. But since I don't have a heart to kill Brian in any of my fics yet, I've decided to make Nick meet random ghosts. And when I finished writing the outline of the story, I was surprised to realize it sounded like the Ghost Whisperer though I wasn't thinking of the program when I was writing. I even asked Julie if people would think I'm copying if this story will push through. But I love the story so much so I decided to give it a try. :)
