Aww, this chapter kinda broke my heart! I'm sad that the guys didn't make it there in time, when Brian was counting so much on seeing them. I'm kind of glad I wasn't enough of a fan yet to know this was happening when it happened in real life because even from the fan side of things, I can only imagine how scary it would be to know he was going through that... I can't imagine how it must have been for his family and Leighanne and the guys. And for Brian, especially. You did a nice job capturing the tension and fear.
Author's Response: I was a "kind of fan" for a couple years before I heard about Brian's surgery and then I was like super fan. My dad had an open heart surgery in 1993 so I always felt drawn to Brian because I understood heart conditions... Brian was like this super hero to me back in '98! I didn't follow enough to see the World Music Awards on TV or anything like that, but after seeing the news story on Vh1, I started collecting magazines and stuff about the Backstreet Boys. This was a really hard chapter to write, imagining the Boys not showing up for him. It's always broken my heart thinking of that... the one time he needed them most. :(

This chapter was sad, but I laughed at Nick failing miserably at spelling Leighanne's name. Leave it to Lou to buy Jane off, and leave it to Jane to take the money. I like how the INBYH shoot coincided with Brian and Leighanne's fight so that her being in the video was nice and awkward LOL. Good for her for sticking to her guns, though.

Ahh, this chapter made me cheer and squee and jump for joy!!! I'm so glad the guys are finally starting to take the financial situation seriously, and I'm SO SO SO glad Brian finally laid into Lou! And the way he went over to Leighanne's house afterwards was so hot! I meant to tell you in the chapter where he wrote them, just forgot by the time I reviewed, but I love that he used what would become the lyrics to The One for his proposal! So cute!! YAY!
Author's Response: LOL I was so excited that the chapter when Lou is finally put in his damn place happened to be posted for the anniversary of him going to jail finally. Bwahaha... And YAY another person noticed the use of The One!! I was thinking hardly anyone noticed it!! lol

Leighanne does sorta have his balls, but it's okay, lol. That moment between her and Nick was intense, and she's so right. Nick is being such a wad over this whole thing, and I get it's because he doesn't understand or want a serious relationship but he probably needs to just deal with the fact that Brian is older than he is, and different than he is. Live with it, Nick! Nick actually really bothers me in the story! He's kind of a little pain in the butt. Hopefully he shapes up soon :)

Yes, finally Brian is taking some control! God damn, I love Brian! LOL. I can't believe they left a note under his door like that, and that they're sending Leighanne home. It's like... let the guy do what he wants with his very minimal amount of free time! Brian really needs to go get that surgery, and I wish he didn't have to wait because it sounds like things are getting really bad for him. If I was Leighanne, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Ugh Lou. Good on Brian for finally standing up to him, and really standing up to him. That guy sucks so much and deserved the telling off! Oh also that A Night Out Special... ahhh, love it. Although,

Poor Nick. His hair was so awful in that special LMAO. But as discussed, his chin looked great. So.. it wasn't all bad fiction!Nick!
I felt so bad for Brian when he nearly collapsed, and yes AJ should have told Kevin because.. well I don't know what Kevin could have done really. He probably would have just worried because even if he did stand up to Lou, nothing would probably come of it, which is really sad. And Poor Leighanne, crying in the bathroom. Just poor everyone :( Oh also Brian saying he could picture the guys there after his surgery, since it was on their anniversary made my heart break.

I love that the boys totally disobeyed Lou and went out anyway, because REALLY? He was going to make them stay in the hotel when they were in Ireland on St Paddys Day? Lou is the ruiner of fun. God! I love that Kevin seemed to be the one who instigated the whole thing too.
The scene in the pub was perfection! I loved how drunk they all were, and Howie saying he could drink them under the table (man that guy can seriously drink!!) and how AJ said drinking was always fun. Telling of the future. I dig it. Poor Nick though, getting drunk and confused and scared when Kevin touched him. I felt so bad for him. Leighanne was so sweet to him though, and I'm glad he let her comfort him.

UGH! Brian is just too passive. He tried to stand up to Lou, but honestly he just really failed and it could end up costing him his life. Leighanne's right, Brian should just walk out. I know that back in 1998 if I'd found out Brian was taking time off to have heart surgery and wouldn't be at my concert or whatever, I'd have been sad, but I'd have understood I think, because it's freaking heart surgery! I remember when that was happening and the other guys were at the World Music Awards, I just felt so bad for them and for Brian and I just wanted him to get better :( Gah. Sad. And also Lou and his stupid opinions on Brian being engaged. I get that they need to appear single or whatever, but at the end of the day, what does it change? Again when I was younger I was heartbroken when I found out Nick was dating Willa, but I still bought their albums and supported them, because I really did love them (and I hoped that eventually, Nick would be mine! LOL) so Lou really needs to relax a bit and realize that not all their fans are in it for the fantasy. Come on, dude! He's taking the boyband thing way too literally, good on Leighanne for standing up to him, because she's so right. The whole "family" idea, especially when it comes to Lou is laughable. He never actually cared about our boys. He only cared about the money and it was all a ruse to get them to go along with him and do what he wanted. EFF I hate that guy!

Every time I read this damn story I can't decide whether I want to hug Nick or kick him. Damn Nick. This chapter made me so sad for Brian but it was sweet that Nick tried really hard to make him feel included and wanted. I like that he kept making Brian drink juice, so cute. Brian needs to listen to Leighanne and take care of himself, he's so damn stubborn. The twinkie cake cracked me up....and I'm gonna be honest I've had a craving for them since I've been reading BT. I think after work I'm gonna go get some. :P your fault!

Awh, my boys on SNL! I didn't actually know they were on SNL before Millennium until today! I feel so creeped out by Lou, and how Brian was mentioning that he hadn't noticed how touchy feely he'd been with Nick before now that it was no longer happening. I totally agree with Leighanne and how Brian needs to go be authoritative with Lou and lay down the law. Hell, yeah he does! Lou is the worst, and Brian needs to tell him where to go, since it seems like none of the other guys will (Nick I understand, but the rest...eh..especially Kevin...) Great chapter as always, Hannah! Things are heating up!

Nickkkk :( Why you gotta be like that! And Jane, ugh, of course she's suing Lou. I know I should probably be on her side in this, and I am, it's just that she's so skeezy and I don't like her lol. Aside from all that drama, the beginning of this was funny where they were dancing to Backstreet's Back, and where Nick and AJ were all excited about the drinking age and Kevin was all parental, lol. Again, the little things in this story are just the best. Love it!

First of all, loved how enthusiastic Brian's mom was about him getting married, that was adorable. Second, I really think Brian needs to worry less about his schedule and more about the fact that his heart is working overtime like crazy and he NEEDS to get surgery. The way you ended this chapter was perfection, and it made me really sad, but honestly, it probably really did go down like that. Ugh, Brian. And Ugh to Lou too, all for good measure, because it's his fault! lol
