Oh Nick, such a child. I get that he's upset with Brian... well actually I don't because he's the one who lied in the first place. I just feel bad for poor Brian without his best friend, and for such a stupid reason based on such a serious matter, ugh. What a mess. Also enjoyed the bit about how AJ and Nick call Lou the Bison behind his back, lmao. I love the little things like that, that you put into this story. I think it's what really makes this so believable and great :)

That proposal was perfect, you wrote it just perfectly! I felt just like Leighanne when Brian said it, in terms of, I was surprised and happy and ohmy the emotions! I almost cried reading it, lol. Such a sap I am. They are the most adorable ever. I also loved her talking to him about Nick at the end and how he'd said it was his greatest fear that Nick would always see him as the guy who told his mom about Lou. Poor Brian. I hope he and Nick are able to mend things soon. You're doing a fantastic job with this story, Hannah!

All hateful comments that I have about Lou aside (because you've heard them many times already, lol) I love this chapter! Brian and Leighanne kicking ass at Pictionary was adorable, and I loved how Brian had that little conversation with Carol, telling her that he had the ring. Aw. Though, I'm inclined to agree with him both on the fact that I wouldn't want to picture Howie having sex, and I also enjoy the dryer smell :)

So we've come full circle. You did a great job working that prologue scene seamlessly back into the story. I love Leighanne so much for setting that ultimatum to keep him from pushing back the surgery even further. I can't believe how unsupportive the guys were in the last chapter. I'd expect it from Lou or Johnny, but the boys? Kevin?? Sad panda. Brian's going to have to stand up to them all to get his girl back, and I'm looking forward to the part when that happens!

I knew somehow this chapter would be next, because he had been waiting to talk to her for a while now. I love how Brian went on a rampage and Nick just watched him, then handed him the lamp LOL. Brian doesn't need Leighanne leaving right now when it seems like nobody is supporting him. Looking forward to more :)

Gosh, it's like 7am and I'm here all tangled up because of this chap! It's really sad and painful and you have done an amazing work with Brian's emotions here. Because what hurt him the most it wasn't just the fact that no one cared for him and for the fact that maybe an heart surgery is something really big, but the fact that they were so easily talking about replacing him like he wasn't that important for them or part of the family. At the end, what hurt Brian was realizing that he was just someone they were using for his voice not a friend or a brother. Being useless, not being part of a group that you felt like your own family, that had to hurt really bad.
And the saddest part of all is that it really happened, which makes me love and respect Brian even more.

m our convo on twitter in there because it is SO something Nick would do....licking it in content while someone watched in disgust. But all the guys are being very insensitive to what Brian needs. I just want to kick all of them for telling him to postpone his surgery for their benefit AGAIN *sigh* but hopefully he talks to leighanne about it soon. Great chapter as always!

Wow. You did a really good job representing the frustration and fear and just overall emotional turmoil of Brian's situation. I actually felt myself getting emotional myself just thinking about that time and what he must have been thinking and feeling when all this was happening. I realizes your story is a fictionalized representation but it makes me sad thinking that these things were actually happening to him and I don't know how well I would have handled it all. Great job.

Wow, this was an important chapter; lots of good stuff happened! I'm glad Brian rescheduled his surgery for the LAST time and also that he finally told the guys. They reacted better than I thought they would. Hopefully he tells his parents now too. And I'm glad he had that talk with Kevin at the end about the financial issues. The part toward the beginning with Brian and Leighanne talking about joint custody of Nick was funny. The dynamic between Nick and Leighanne was really cute in this chapter!

I really like leighanne in this story, I love how Nick and her went from fighting to talking about playing video games together in just a few chapters lol. I love how Nick's always talking about food....I got a craving for waffles now and I've never had Belgian waffles. I want to kick Brian again for allowing Lou to bully him, he needs to put his damn foot down. Amazing chapter :)
Author's Response: LOL I actually researched Belgian Waffles because I was curious if they're different in Belgium than they are when they label them Belgian Waffles here or not and apparently Belgian waffles in Belgium are more like Crepes here in the US, or like Fried Dough. They have little carts on the streets you can pick up waffles at and they're more like a snack or a dessert than a breakfast. LOL Once I researched that I knew-knew-KNEW they had to replace Twinkies for at least a chapter. LMAO Poor Nick.

Author's Response: I always find myself doing that on NYE, thinking about what I wanted for the new year while everyone around me counts down and whatever. By everyone around me I mean the people on TV in Times Square cos I'm usually the only one still awake at midnight. I just wanted to capture that feeling of thinking and hearing the seconds tick away as you try desperately to finish the thought before they get to the end. It also gave it more of a climatic feeling. If the scene had been in a movie, I feel like it would've been a pivital one, and that climb with the countdown would've been accompanied by swelling music and etc etc you know? I really try to write a visual account and attempt to engage senses when I write. I don't know if it works, but that's the intention. :) Glad you're enjoying the story!! Thanks for the reviews.
