Hm... not sure how I feel about the whole "Frank Carter" thing. That seemed to come out of nowhere. I could see the connection to Annie's father once it was mentioned that he'd been an orderly at a hospital, since I remembered Annie's dad was a surgeon, but I'm having a hard time accepting his existence at all, since as far as I can remember, it was never mentioned earlier in this story or in FILA that Bob Carter was not Nick's biological father. I wish that seed had been planted already, if it turns out that he's the one doing this.
Author's Response: So, Frank is actually a subplot I came up with after I had the rest of the story planned out. That's not to say that he is or isn't involved, but that he's not the whole story. I sort of WANTED him to come out of nowhere, and I wanted it to be a family member of Nick's to establish how it looked like Nick might be a suspect. However, I tend to shy away from writing much about his real family, considering the real-life dysfunction there. So, there's Frank.

Author's Response: Yeah...I wasn't sure how that whole thing would be received, but I wanted to make sure to establish a motive for the death of Annie's parents. There is definitely more to this, to somewhat answer one of your questions from the featured story thread. Hopefully, I will have time to go and answer all of those after I get home from work this evening.
