See when I read this chapter, all I could think was 'she killed him, she killed him!!' I couldn't believe Kevin had the guts to go in there when Nick was (as far as I believed) dead!
Author's Response: I also changed this. Originally I had Nick going in there to confront Tim but for suspense purposes, I made it Kevin. I dind't want to reveal that Nick was alive until that last chapter. For a milisecond, it was going to be Howie but after all he had been through I couldn't see him willingly go in there to talk to Tim. He'd probably accidentally hit himself in the head with the door if he did anyway. lol

I'm so glad you decided to post! This is probably the first time that I actually felt bad for Tim. For a writer to be able to create a character that you hate but feel sorry for is huge! Amazing chapter!

Oh Mare,
I feel so bad! I've been reading but not reviewing....bad Pammy! As for Tim...I didn't want to care about him, but I did. He was a product of his environment and was essentially choiceless, except when it came to the Boys. I'm glad that he now understands what he did was wrong and is truly remorseful. I'm not surprised that it was Kevin to visit Tim...it seems like a "Kevin thing." I'm not sure I could do it if I was in his situation. I also couldn't see Howie doing it. His testimony at Tim's trial of not killing Tim was a little frightening. Definite a change to out Howie. Now Mare, did you kill our Nick again? I'm not surprised that Tim had the hardest time thinking of Nick and writing a letter to him. Nick was the one he spent more time with....and the one who "saved" him. As I have been reading this story, I keep going back to the argument of "nature vs. nurture." And here's the kicker, I'm still not sure which side created Tim.
Once again Mare, I'm awed by your prose!

His last visitor? Sounds like Tim may try to commit suicide. Altho, as I sat here thinking about that, and the drastic change in him, getting better and actually being able to look back on his actions and seeing just how wrong there were, I can't help but wonder if it was easier for him to deal with when he was sick. How it must feel to now know the terror and horrible actions you inflicted on others. I can't imagine how hard that would be to live with. Possibly harder for him to deal with as it is for his victims.
It's not looking good for Nick in this chapter. I really can't wait to see his fate is gonna be.
I'm glad that Kevin went to see him. I figured one of them would eventually go see him...I just figured it'd be Howie..lol Hopefully it will bring him some closure...in knowing that Tim is truly sorry for what he did and is now doing much better. I don't expect any of them to forgive him..what he did is pretty much unforgivable, sick or not, specially if it cost one of them their lives. I do hope we get to see the other's and how they are coping in the final chapter. I really can't wait to read it!! It's been such a sensational story..one of THE best villains written I believe. You managed to get your readers to care as much about Tim as they do about the Boys.

Author's Response: Thanks, Jennay! All that you said above about Tim and how horrible it must be for him is probably correct. I couldn't even imagine what that would feel like especially being in an environment where that's really all there is to do, think about how horrible you've been to people. I said Kevin was his last visitor because he was. After Kevin, no one ever visited him again besides the usual people who are hired to. But I did also leave that door open for you to decide if maybe he does take his own life or not. Your last sentence concerning caring about Tim made me smile because that's exactly what I wanted people to feel! YAY!! And thanks for the compliments about being one of the best villains ever! Tim would be pleased!! Of course he would also want a trophy! LOL And this is totally unrelated but I also wanted to thank you for your comments about Judy and The Beast! I remember reading your conversation about it with Julie via twitter and smiling. Of course I wanted to jump in and say YAY that's me!! But I didn't! lmao I have nothing in the works, but maybe some day another crazy idea like this one will pop in my head!

I'm going to assume that this last letter is for Nick. I'm really "on the edge of my seat" to find out his fate. As for this chapter, I'm glad you gave Tim a bit of a resolution and that he is getting better. Like I said before, he is one of the most well-written villains I've ever read, and I think a part of that is that you made the reader feel sympathy for him. I like that Kevin was the one who came to see him. It seemed appropriate somehow. The most heartbreaking part of this chapter for me, though, was Kevin's limp. For me, the biggest question that is left to answer is not just the fate of Nick, but of the group as a whole after this big ordeal. What are they doing a year later? Excited to find out!
Author's Response: I really felt like this was as much of his story as the guys so it was important for me to make him likable but at the same time not. It's been fun seeing everyone's opinions on him. I'm in the midst of writing the last chapter now. I love the fact you skipped a year so we can see how Tim's doing in this chapter (and hopefully see the others are in the next one). It's nice he got treatment and is doing a bit better, though I find it a bit unbelievable he made that much progress, but that is probably the psychologist in me talking, so I wouldn't worry about that. My study just made me very skeptical I guess.
Great writing as always of course. I'm a bit sad Kevin is limping, but at least you didn't take his leg, lol.
Take your time and update when you think is the right moment. I'll be right here waiting for you. *sings*
Author's Response: Aww, I wish I knew you were a psychologist, I would have totally consulted you on this chapter!! I wasn't sure if meds would make an immediate difference or not. I would think that if most of his behavior was because of an untreated mental condition, once he started treatment there would be a fast show of improvement but I also wasn't sure if that was the case. I just went by years of living with crazy people as my guideline lol
I never intended Kevin to have a gimpy leg but as I was writing it seemed more dramatic so I went with it. I don't think I could have ever chopped it off, I'll leave the choppage to Julie! lmao
And thanks for being patient! The psychologist in you probably also gets why I need the gratification. hehe

Awww Tim.... I am just so glad you are making progress. That you are taking responsibility for what you did. It still breaks my heart knowing that you might not have turned into this if you weren't kidnapped by your 'father'. Everyone deserves a happy and normal childhood. You will get better and hopefully before your life expires, you'd get to experience a normal, happy life. The letters are great. I'm happy you thought of that.
Mare, does Kevin's line "At least I'm alive" means anything? I hope Nick is alive, though it's kinda okay if he isn't. :)
I will understand if you will post the final chapter when everyone is back from the cruise. I'd wait. *winks*

Another great chapter! It`s good that Tim ended up in a mental institution since he really turned out the way he did bc of all the manipulation and abuse growing up.
Glad Kevin was also able to visit to get some closure.

Aww reading this chapter made me feel sorry for Tim. With the correct treatment he realised what he'd done was wrong. If only he'd had a normal family and treatment when he was young, he would've had a much better life!
I'm glad Kevin went to visit, obviously he's not going to forgive and forget, but at least he was able to understand that Tim wasn't all there when he did the things he did.
But what about Nick? Did he get better? Can't wait to find out!

Tim, although he was the most insane character I think you've written....I was really proud that he overcame his demons and wrote the letters to people to apologize. Seems he is getting better now. Poor Kevin and his gimp leg :( I also love how Howie got so much attention in this story cause most people ignore him, myself included LOL. I am curious how the others are doing after everything.
I forgot to mention in my last review how much I liked that the people in your summary switched roles, that everything came full circle. You are still my favorite fanfic author even if you don't write again after this. I will be sad when this one ends but I am anxious to see what happens to Nick!
Author's Response: Thanks, Tracy! I am proud of myself for spotlighting Howie as much as I did as well. I think if I do find myself writing more, which I hope I do, that Howie's relationship with Nick will move him more into those important roles. Unless I stop torturing Nick which I don't see happening lmao. And it always makes me tingly when you say I'm your favorite. Thank you for that! It does make me want to keep writing. :O)
