Author's Response: Thanks Steph!! Howie admitted to Nick in the original short story that he had a one-night stand with a guy he met at a gay club in London, so no, Nick wasn't his first. As far as who had it first, good question! I'm glad you're enjoying it!!

I read this chapter on my phone while I was waiting at the car dealership, so I wasn't able to review right away. Anyways, I just wanted to say that you did an excellent job of making this chapter very "real". I think that you were dead on with Leigh's reaction and subsequent behaviour. If I was in her position, I probably would have lost my mind, but Leigh comes across as very reserved and you definitely did her justice in this chapter. I can't WAIT to see how it goes when Howie tells Nick. Can we say drama??
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review! I especially appreciate hearing that it seemed "real" to you. I don't know much about Leigh, but she seems very nice, and she and Howie seem to have a great marriage in real life, so I couldn't imagine her completely flying off the handle. I think she would just feel very betrayed and hurt by this situation, so that was what I tried to portray. The conversation between Howie and Nick is coming... stay tuned! :)

You know, as I read this I think the lyric you used for the summary applies more to you than Howie lmao. Cause if we could've read your mind we'd know you crossed the two lines you had left. Random thought but I wanted to share. I knew you were going to go there with Nick. So now I have the AIDS song from Team America back in my head again...
Honestly I feel for Leigh. If it'd been me I would've kicked him out. Cheating is bad enough but cheating and giving her and their son HIV is eviction worthy LOL. Poor Howie. I feel for him but, he brought all this on himself.

I love this story an unhealthy amount.
Anyhoo, sticking to my theory that Nick had it first and is the one who gave it to Howie, who then passed it onto Leigh who passed it onto Holden via breast milk. But we shall see!
Back to this chapter, I thought that Leigh's reaction was completely justified. Actually, if I was her I would have thrown Howie out of the house. What an awful thing for her to have to go through and be completely blind-sighted by. I do feel bad for Howie, but I don't feel as bad as I should? Maybe it's because he's sort of the "villain" at this point in the story. I don't know, but I mostly feel bad for Leigh and Holden and oblivious Nick (despite my theory above lol) Looking forward to seeing what happens next :)
Author's Response: LMAO Thank you!! I'm glad you thought Leigh's reaction was justified. It's hard to know how someone would react in that situation, and Leigh and Howie seem to have a good marriage in real life, but I can't imagine NOT reacting with anger when you find out your husband cheated on you and infected both you and your baby with an incurable disease. Even though he didn't know, he is kind of the "villain" at this point. Thanks for the review!!

I'm still reading this story. (it's like when you rubber neck at an accident and have to look).......anyway I would be royally pissed too like Leigh is. Nick is gonna blow a gasket when Howie gives him the news about a possibility that he may be infected...
