Freaky dream sequence...i have had dreams kinda like that. Never came true but it was crazy enough. Where i hate having them :(
I am glad Kevin is coming around. I hope Kevin will continue to be a good shoulder for Nick to lean on cause he really needs it right now :)

I really enjoyed all of the references to Kevin's dad in this chapter. I'm sure he was an amazing man in real life, and I can't even imagine how Kevin felt losing him at such a young age. I don't know what I would do without my dad!
I think that Kevin did a pretty damn good job at being a father figure for Nick during their little exchange. Something tells me that he's going to have to fill that role even more as the story behind Nick's stalker comes out.
Author's Response: It seems like Kevin's dad was a special guy. My died a while ago as well, so it's really easy for me to relate to him in that sense. Kevin tries his hardest with that boy sometimes it works but sometimes... lol we shall see!

Glad Nick is finally opening up, but I have a feeling that there is a lot ore left to tell about his parents. I really like how you write Kevin. I can feel his struggle with trying to keep his distance and be a bit selfish and wanting to help his young friend. Thank you for writing this and I am looking forward to more.

I absolutely love how you write Nick and Kevin when they were younger. I think that's great Kevin opened up to him about the dream because Nick is one of those people who holds stuff in, but if you share something with him he feels more comfortable with you. I think this might be a turning point for them because Kevin is realizing he needs to help him and fighting with the kid won't get him anywhere. I can't wait to see how the conversation goes with him Howie and Nick. Great update as always!

I see Kevin's dream as his insecurities. He wants to help Nick but he doesn't know how.
Now, Bob Carter has always bothered me...well annoyed me would probably be a better word. We all know Jane Carter is the stage mom from Hell; but what about Bob? He's always the "innocent" while Jane is the "bad guy." "Jane gave that story about Nick and his girlfriend to the Enquirer." "Jane took Aaron money." What the heck was he doing while Jane was doing all this?! I always see him as the guy who has the title "Father" but never performs the actions of a father. Okay, rant is over!
Another good update, Mare. Looking forward to next week.

Author's Response: Bob has always bothered me as well. I don't think either of Nick's parents did a bang up job at raising their kids and that's heartbreaking. I hope he's wasn't abusive but just from reading Nick's book, I get the impression that he was scared of his father. I'm glad Nick made the decision to take them both out of his life. Thanks, Pammy!

I think that dream was the kick in the ass Kevin needed to stop dogging the poor kid and realize that he DOES care about him...to try to HELP rather than hinder the situation. It just proved if you show you care, the more he will be open with you..share what's wrong. I have a feeling this will be the start of a major turning point in he and Kev's relationship..I hope!
I'm so eager to find out about this "mystery" relative!!! I want more info!! :p
Still enjoying this story Mare. I've always loved the way you write these two..you capture them in the way that seems so real!! Can't wait for next week's installment!!

Eeek! When I read how he sexually assaulted that child and got out early because he wasn't found guilty of the attempted murder, I was peeved because it sounds like something that would actually happen in real life. Rolph Harris only got 5 years (3 years good behaviour) for molestation! Argh! Hope he gets beat in jail. Anyways, rant over.
I knew this story would take a dark turn somewhere lol I think they best thing about this chapter is how you described Nick's behaviour towards this creep. It's like his loneliness has convinced him to be naive to the fact that they guy is a creep! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Author's Response: I have no idea who Rolph Harris is but yes, those kinds of cases happen all the time with pretty much the same results, sadly.
It's sad but I also think it's true of kids like Nick in this story, who feel neglected by their own parents, to think that maybe this guy would be more of a friend than an enemy, which is what those jerks prey on in the first place. Thanks for the review, Jess!

I like how the suspense is heating up. Of course Nick would think that the psycho is just having a hard time and needs someone to be there for him. Nick always has struck me as the type to give most people the benefit of the doubt ... probably why he's been burned so many times by so many different people.
On a side note, why do you keep putting marshmallows in your stories?? Seriously, the image of someone eating a marshmallow makes me shudder!! Ewwww! LOL

I think Nick is way too trusting of everyone, including his fans. I think that's why it's always so easy to envision some of these scenarios happening to him. I think he's gotten a little better with age, but even still, sometimes I'm like "Why are you telling everyone where you are?" LOL

a very interesting point to the chapter. I liked the part at the end where Kevin said he wants to kill Nick most of the time but he cares about him anyway, I feel that is pretty accurate. Great update Mare. Can't wait for next week's chapter :)

Just got back from Sydney which is why I'm behind in reviewing! I have a feeling something bad is going to happen on the boat such as that crazy relative showing up on a speedboat and kidnapping Nick or something.
