Aww, This is my least favorite time period for them. I really do believe that a lot of that stuff in interviews, and that documentary was edited. I will never ever forget the image of Nick crying on TRL when they announced AJ going into rehab. I barely knew who they were at that time but I wanted to hug him when I saw how sad he was. I'm glad I wasn't a full fledged fan back then because it would have broken my heart. Nice take on the broken wrist. I don't think I've ever read that scenario before.
Author's Response: Mine too. It was really just a horrible period and amazing they didn't break up for good. I do believe they probably had to edit a LOT out back then. Cause up till the announcement everything seemed okay. I bawled like a baby when I heard AJ was going into rehab. It was a sad time, really depressing. As for the wrist I've seen a few theories on how Nick broke it and many felt AJ did it. But this I don't know, I felt like it was better if he was trying to stop them in the ways he never tried with his parents. Thanks Mare!

Ugh i compeltely forgot about Mandy..how i hated her so much. She was so terrible for him! If i wrote a fic in the early days i would always have something bad happen to her lol.
And I remember when they went onto MTV about AJ's stuff. I was supposed to go to the second leg of the B&B tour...my venue in Tacoma, Wa was cancelled and they couldnt reschedule it =(
This story is taking me down memory lane of my teenage years lol. I LOVE this story Rose!

I'm sure Nick did have some abandonment issues when Kevin decided to leave..with all that he went thru with his own family. He must have found such comfort in his new "family" and to watch it all kind of falling apart on him..I can't even imagine.

Aww, going back to the Black and Blue era is going to be tough. I loved your line about how he felt like he did around his parents. Begin famous really sucks sometimes. I could never do it. The money, yes please! But all the other crap that comes with it? No thank you! Especially for someone like Nick who has no sense of family or anyone to guide him through what's right or wrong. Yikes!
I remember that video of Howie with Nick saying the picking his nose part. I think that's one of the very first videos I ever watched of them when I started to get really into their music and I remember thinking. Wow, Nick is a little brat! LOL Did the bus really leave him behind? I ask because it seems like a few stories have that happen during this tour. Nice job, Rose!
Author's Response: It really is. In my head Nick found this new family to replace his broken one and when it started to have problems Nick was thrown back into the same feelings being around the Carters used to give him. Especially since AJ's substance abuse and anger problems would've been too similar. I could never do it either. At least not for anything but writing. Maybe be cool like JK Rowling? I could handle that.
LOL awww is it really? As far as I know the bus incident never happened but I wanted to combine it with something that did so it'd feel a little more real. But you're right I've seen that idea in stories for either their Euro tour or Millennium. Maybe it's like the Little Man thing? Where no one was sure for the longest time where it originated lmao. There is a picture of Nick out there from when he was younger id say 18 where he looks like the guy from that video lol.

The beginning of the chapter was so sweet and magical and gave me warm fuzzies seeing them sing together for the first time, and Nick accepting Brian like that was an awww moment.
Then the Nick and Kevin Christmas part made me awwwwww harder because I really believe Kevin made him feel wanted and like family. I always thought this was how things were in real life too because of how nick talks about his own family and how the boys raised him. Loving this story so far Rose :)

It was interesting to see him watching himself be that carefree kid... The kid who just wanted to please everyone. I think that's really how things were honestly judging by Nicks book and what we've seen and or heard as fans. Grace is right it's kind of messed up how they put that on him like that. Great chapter Rose. Sorry for the late review, apparently I am not getting emails when my stories are updated.

As I was watching the old videos you could tell Nick had been at this for a few years (cause I think he started at 8 if I remember right), and you could tell he really loved performing. I reread Denise's book, Nick's, and that old school bio a bunch so I could try and put together a version of what happened back then. I really do think his mom put that much pressure on him and it's not right. Thanks Tracy!
