I always wondered why nobody heard the hat talking with each student. This makes so much sense. But even reasoning with the hat didn't work for Lily. Poor Lily.

Poor Lily and Severus. She cares so much about him and he feels the same. I wonder what would have happened if she'd been sorted into Slytherin
