I always read your story 'Broken' once a year. You really get into the characters , it's believeable and not cheesy at all. It's realistic and could happen in real life. I even thought that you knew Nick too well the first time I read it.
I'm now finally going to read the sequel, which I am a bit afraid of, cause I don't want their love to end.
Thank you for a wonderful story and good luck on turning this into a published book. You should absolutely give it a shot!

I finally broke down and read this story on your website. I didn't realize that you had it posted here. I avoided reading it for the longest time, even though I had heard from so many how wonderful it was, because I just didn't want to have to imagine Nick going through all of the agony.
However, after reading it, I have to agree that not only did this story touch my heart in so many ways, it made me think about the type of person I hope to be if this were to happen to me, or even worse someone I loved.
I read in your AN's that you wrote this story when you were still in high school and that just amazes me. That someone of that age can not only write beautifully, but you write with so much passion. I am 26 years old and still can not deliver a story half as good as this.
I have already begun reading "By My Side" on your web site, but since I have discovered it on here, I will probably stick to this website.
I can't wait to see what is in store for Nick and Claire. Great job Julie!!!
Author's Response: Thanks, Brandy!! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm thrilled that you did give it a chance and ended up liking it! This story, along with BMS, was definitely my "baby." It came after three years of writing fanfic, and it turned out to be the story I'd wished I could have written all along, as far as how it turned out and how well the response to it was. But I think I needed a few years of writing experience to get to that point. I'm so glad that it was worth the read for you, and thanks again for all your amazing comments! :)

A couple of months ago I wanted to read this story because I heard some good things about it.
I tried to read the story but as soon as I knew what the story was about I stopped. I couldn’t read a story about this kind of thing.. I always read the kind of love stories where girl meets Nick, they marry…end of story. That time of my life I wasn’t ready to read it (long story) but now I had the time and the strength to read it and it was absolutely great! I admit I cried a couple of times haha You’re really talented and of course I’m going to read the sequel. Keep the good work up!

wow..i just finished reading broken and i must say i usually dont like stories where nick is sick but this one is just to amazing...it made me cry more times than i like to admit...and really thinking about stuff too that i dont normally think about..one of my little siter's friends have cancer...so this is heavy stufff to think about but such an amazing story..i cant even tell you enough good words about it..it a story not only fans or peopel that like nick should read but one for anyone really in my openion..it is like a long journey you take and you are just amazingly good to lead the reader into this world and just make it take a hold of you...man i really have no clue of what more to say other than such great work girl! and man am i looking forward to reading the sequel! love Anita p.s this might be wierd but if you feel like talking or anything i would love too..my msn addy and email is snoppydog17@hotmail.com...
