I just got caught up on what you have posted of this story, and I have to say, it is SUCH a cool story!!! I don't usually get into fantasy, but this one really sucked me in. It's really unique and just "weird" enough to be interesting without being too bizarre. I especially love Lene - the whole concept of her projecting her child self to help Nick and growing up the entire time is so neat! I hope you update soon!!

Author's Response: I know, I absolutely love their sense of hope. Before I began to write, Lene seemed like a very weak, rather unlikeable character to me. But as I wrote more about her, this incredible strength began to show through. I hope everyone is still on her side in the future when... uh, stuff happens - not to give anything away!

Author's Response: This is another chapter that I was particularly worried about because it changes Nick from being the real world Nick that we know into one who can use magic. These were rather uncertain waters for me, but everyone's response has been so great!

Lene's aging process is quite riveting. I'm enjoying the angst, as strange people like me do. :)
I adore Nick's interaction with her, the unsure quality being very telling of life and how it is between big boys and little girls. The modesty he allows her shows his gentlemanly qualities, and the fact that he may not have retained his memory, but his respectful nature has managed to follow through.
It's amazing what remains of us even when we've been stripped of the experiences that have shaped us that way. And your ability to capture that very thing is amazing, as well.
Author's Response: Personally, I felt kind of embarrassed and concerned that Nick would seem like he had a lolita-complex or something. So I'm glad that his modesty was properly conveyed here. *grins*

Aww, that was cute! I liked how Lene helped him discover his powers, and you wrote of "unlocking the gate" in a way that seemed very simple and almost realistic--except, that it's not LOL Nice job! Update quick!

I like the reference to Harry Potter! This was another great chapter. I was wondering when she was going to get older because it seemed she was 5 for awhile. I think it's interesting how you're showing Lene's conflicting memories of things from the far past and the near past (I hope that made sense) and just how confused she is. This story really is unlike any other I've read...so Yay for you!
Author's Response: Yeah! I was thinking up a chapter title, and I thought that would be a good one, especially since it's Lene's age. Interestingly enough, the way that Other World exists in the in-between spaces of the regular one kind of reminds me of how the wizarding world in Harry Potter does the same.
I'm glad you liked Lene's conflicting memories. Looks like between her and Nick, neither one of them has a clue what's going on. XD
