It's a good story. I like the writing. However, as a Starbucks Barista myself, I could help but notice it was also fairly inaccurate.
Just for future reference:
1) 5:30 is late for a Starbucks employee to be waking up, if they are opening. Most stores open at either 5 or 6. Openers have to be there 45 minutes before they open to set up. (4:15 if they open at 5; 5:15 for 6)
2) You always say the size of the drink first. So Brian's order would be something like a "Grande, no whip, caramel frappuccino.”
3) Her hair would already be up. As a rule, we have to wear our hair up, unless it is too short to be put up. And in several states, they are also required to wear hats when working.
4) Most Starbucks don't have an "open/close" sign. We just have our hours posted on the door. But, I guess, a lot of that has to do with the manager of the store and how big the city/town is. Most major cities have to follow strict guidelines and are monitored fairly regularly.
5) Also, every opening shift has to have at least 2 people... most of the time 3 (one for pastry case and one to set up bar, brew coffee, fill ice buckets, brew teas, brew Ice Coffee, set out cream, make sure the lobby is set up, set up patio, etc.). As a law, we cannot open without 2 people. And one of them has to be a Shift Supervisor.
I don't mean to be critical. It really was a good story. I am just very proud of my job. =)

man, this makes me wish I had the album right now but i have to wait a couple of more days until it comes in the mail lol...but i cannot wait to actually listen to this song and put the story in mind :D But very good you should think about turning this into a longer story :D

Oh wow, I really enjoyed that. Great job!! Sometimes it bothers me when authors put lyrics in the stories, but those really went hand in hand together. And to be honest, the story made me like the song a bit more. It wasn't one of my favorites, but seeing the lyrics like that really made all the difference =]
