Prologue by ShortNchic23

Well where can I begin? From the beginning of course. Living in the big apple hasn't always been as glamourous as the way people see it on shows like "gossip girl" or "the city". Even though it's been a struggle, I wouldn't trade it for the world. My name is Alyssa and I was born and raised in New York City. It's all I've ever known for these past 26 years, but I feel like it's time for a change. I've been working for Universal Music Group for the past 3 years. How can a girl land  such a job you ask? Well a lot of positive energy, patience, and tons of ass busting work. Specifically four years in the prestigious New York University. My college days were far from easy; constant all nighters, working weekends at a local bar in the Lower East Side trying to make some money as well as build my network with anyone who could help me break through the music scene. Soon enough I was friends with party promoters  And local DJs who knew someone; sometimes it was legit while other times it was just talk. Regardless of it all, I learned to not take no for an answer, you gotta keep pushing till you get what you want and that's exactly what I did. Those four years really tested my desire to work in the music business, but once I walked across that stage at Yankee Stadium and received that degree, the fruits of my dedication never tasted sweeter.Working at Universal has been an amazing experience. Just like every success story you've heard about paying dues, mine is no different. I started off as an intern and once college was behind me I blossomed into an A&R Coordinator at Universal, which is the biggest music group worldwide. You can definitely say that my "Sex and the City" dreams were coming true.I had Carrie's Manolo Blahnik shoe obsession, Samantha's sassy confidence, Charlotte's Conventional upbringing mixed with Miranda's career driven ways. Being a woman in this industry is tough but I'm here to leave my mark. I've been hearing at work of a new project brewing and my names been thrown around as a consideration to take part and I'm definitely anxious to know what's it all about. All I know it's that it's in California, but you know what they say about New Yorkers; "If you can make it here you can make it anywhere".

The start of something new by ShortNchic23

Monday mornings are a pain in the ass and if you disagree then you clearly have issues. The annoying alarm on my bedside table wouldn't quit buzzing which was really irritating me. To say I wasn't a morning person is a huge understatement. You would think after all those years of getting at the crack of dawn to go to school, that I'd be used to it..NOPE! I sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and took a glance at the clock, 7:30 am. I groaned "Ugh Fuck my life". FML was a term I used way too much and way too loosely, I loved my life but right now sleep would be blissful. I reluctantly got up and made my way to my closet to pick something to wear. On my way I stopped by the full length mirror and was mortified by my reflection; my brown hair sticking out in all direction like a huge frizzball, lines on my cheeks from the pillow. I definitely looked like a mess. When I got to the closet I couldn't figure out what to wear; autumn in New York City limits your wardrobe, especially me, I hate being bundled up. I settled for khaki dress pants and a powder blue button up shirt. Even though working in the music industry allows you to be more flexible when it comes to wardrobe and taking time off, I always like to keep it professional as much as I can.I hopped in the shower which left me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.I did my make up and fixed my hair and was ready to go out. Living in SoHo was something I always dreamed as a little girl living in Brooklyn. While growing up in Brooklyn, I made tons of friends of different ethnic backgrounds and we would spend our summers at Coney Island riding the old ass Cyclone rollercoaster until we got whiplash. As I grew older my dreams were growing beyond Brooklyn, they were crossing the bridge and going into Manhattan, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. My dreams were finally becoming a reality and I never took it for granted.I made my way to Spring Street to catch the subway, the streets were thriving with people making their way to work, taking their kids to school, or running errands. I quickly went down the stairs of the station, swiped my metrocard and headed to the platform to wait for the train. After about 10 minutes the train came and we were on out way to midtown. The train is always crowded and I've grown quite used to it . My friends who live out of the state still question me why I don't drive, but driving in Manhattan is just impossible,Way too chaotic for me. The short walk to the Universal building was a routine I've been used to for Way too long. Once in my office it's time to get to business. No bullshit is allowed. I've been currently scouting new prospective artists that could possibly do well in this business which we desperately need. The music industry has taken a turn from where it's use to be 10-20years ago, MTV and TRL aren't the staples to get your music out there, now we rely on things such as you tube and twitter to market our artists. My boss, David Goldstein has been a major component in my success, if it weren't for him taking a chance on me I really don't know where I'd be but I'll be forever grateful to him. I was swamped with loads of work as we were preparing releases for the fourth quarter. The phone rang , it was my assistant Christina "Good morning Christina, what's up?" I asked, as I was looking at the agenda I had for the day. "Mr Goldstein wanted to know if you had any plans for lunch, since he wants to meet with you" she replied. I was already wondering what he could possibly want "Umm no plans, just let him know I'll swing by his office as soon I leave for my lunch break" I replied. David and I rarely saw each other since he was always Flying off everywhere that It didn't give us a chance to catch up. All morning my thoughts would keep wondering what he could possibly want. Once my lunch time came up, I made my way to his office and knocked on his door "Come in" I heard a muffled voice say. I walked in and found David on the phone with someone. I sat and waited until he hung up his call. " so I  heard you needed to speak to me" I said. "is that how you're gonna greet me?!" he chuckled as he stood up and walked over to me, I stood up and embraced him in a hug " I haven't seen you in ages" I said. David was like a second father to me, he always watched out for me as if I were one of his daughters which is something I appreciated as well as my parents. "yes it has, I heard you've been doing big things around here" he said giving me a genuine smile " I'm trying, im trying" I replied "but seriously what did you need to speak to me about?". "Geez what's with you being all impatient, it's a new position that we've been considering for someone to work with one of our artists" He answered "who?!" I exclaimed "How about we go grab a bite to eat and we'll discuss it over lunch" he offered. We made our way downstairs and walked towards Columbus Circle and headed to Marea, an upscale seafood restaurant which the food was to die for. Once seated and placed our orders, I was anxious to know what the hell he had to tell me."ok David spill it! You know me well enough to know that I'm an impatient person" I exclaimed. David laughed at my comment, I took that as an agreement. "well.." he started, I sat there waiting for him to proceed, I swear this man is either a turtle or loves to annoy me."well, right now we have an artist that currently are going through a transition of labels" "Who? Ciara? I was told she was dropped from Jive and was shopping around for a new deal" I answered "you're pretty close but I'm talking about the Backstreet Boys, they recently left Jive, they weren't happy with the way they were handling their music, so right now they're in a sticky situation" He said, looking at me as if he were searching for a reaction. "Alright, so what do you want me to do" I asked, wondering what I could possibly do for this group. I mean don't get me wrong I liked them during my teenage years and I heard some of their newer stuff but not following their career, even though I knew they were one of the biggest selling groups of our time, well my time."well they are with Universal right now, and we need someone to help with the transition, I know you do A&R but you have great marketing skills and I know you would do a great job" he said "I could do this, I'm sure" I said confidently "right now they aren't hot property, but I know if there's anyone who could change this around, it's you" he assured me. "well gee boss thanks for putting me under the pressure cooker" I joked "we considered alot of people but I know this can work for you, the only thing is that they are based on the west coast , so you will be having to fly out there unless you decide to relocate" he offered. The thought of moving out west has occurred to me before but I never had an actual motive to do so. "I don't know about all that yet, but I'll definitely take a job". Maybe Monday's didn't suck all that much after all

Research by ShortNchic23

So the Backstreet Boys are my new project, my girlfriends are sure to get a kick out of this. I'm already getting flashbacks of our teen years; the mission it was to score tickets to their "Into the Millennium" show at Nassau Coliseum and how much my friend Kristy wouldn't stop crying of emotion when they performed "Back To Your Heart", she swore she would be Mrs. Alexander James McLean. We still give her shit for that AJ mural she had in her room, like it or not she will never live that down!

As much as I loved the Backstreet Boys when I was younger, I completely fell out of touch with the music they were releasing. If this was going to work, I had to do my Backstreet Research and I'm not talking about digging through some old ass Tiger Beat issues, I wanted to see numbers-record sales, chart performances of the past few albums that I had no idea existed. This was going to be a challenge but I'm prepared to get it done and have those guys back on mainstream.

Sitting in my office finishing up my last bit of work, I was waiting on Christina to come back with some things I needed for this project. I wanted to get the press kits of the group to have a look on what I'll be working with. Once I got them, I was off to my home. My bestfriend Tessa, was supposed to come over for some drinks and a little dinner. I can only imagine what her reaction is gonna be once I tell her what the hell I just got myself into.

It was 7 o'clock and this bitch still wasn't here! I was too hungry to wait for her that I was just gonna order some take out and work on this "project". As soon as I picked up the phone to call and place my order I heard a loud knock on the door. "Alyssa open up!" i heard someone yell. That was definitely Tess, loud as always. I headed for the door and opened it to see Tessa standing there with a bag of some Chinese take out. "I know I'm super late and you probably wanna kill me but I was caught up in a meeting and my cellphone totally died so I couldn't reach you.  I got us some food on my way over" she offered. "You're lucky I love you, come in" I teased. Tessa made her way in and we headed straight to the kitchen, the smell of lo mein was making this hunger worse. We immediately dug in. "So I have something to tell you" I started, I wasn't sure how she was gonna take the news of my new venture.

Tessa always wanted the best for me, she was truly like a sister to me. We met our freshman year in college and instantly clicked. While I went on to work for the music business she decided that Journalism was her calling. Regardless of the paths we both lead, I knew that her opinion mattered alot to me. "You're not pregnant are you?!" she exclaimed nearly choking on her food. "No you idiot I'm not pregnant!" I laughed at her reaction "I was offered a new artist to work with". "who?" she asked "well do you remember the  Backstreet Boys?" I asked. "Of course I do, I actually went to times square that day they were on with Carson Daly, when they shut down times square. My mom was being such a bitch and didn't wanna take me, I had to beg on of my older cousins to take me, probably one my most teenybopper moments that I will never live down. But yeah anyways what about them?" she asked, suddenly really interested in what I was about to tell her. "They left their label, Jive and now they're with Universal and they want me to help with the transition and to help out for the first album they would be releasing under our label"

"Impressive, look at you doing big things. Honestly I didn't know they were even around anymore, I know Kevin left the group but after that I don't think I heard anything about them." Tessa replied. She seemed excited for me which was a good sign. This was the first time I'd be working  with artists with such credentials as the Backstreet Boys. Sure their music doesnt get played anymore but that's all gonna change and besides who has sold 5 million records in a week after these guys broke that record. These guys had something special. I filled Tessa in on my need to do some research, she suggested we started right away. I grabbed a bottle of wine and poured us a glass and went straight to the computer. We decided to watch some music videos, some of which were nostalgic while others were new to us. We were watching "Straight Through My Heart" which had a catchy melody but a mediocre video concept. "Holy shit Nick Carter looks good, fucking amazing, I'm already hating on you" Tessa playfully hitting my arm. "I'll be sure to tell your fiancé that you're secretly fantasizing about boning Nick Carter" I joked.

Tessa laughed and looked down at her engagement ring, the ring was amazing.Tessa was to be married next year to James, an Architect she met while in Chicago for Writing assignment. In a way I envied her, she met someone who complimented in every way possible, she seemed to have everything falling into place while I in the other hand had a few casual boyfriends and a failed serious relationship under my roster. I channeled my energy towards work which keeps me busy and I don't have to deal with the douche-bags New York has to offer.

We sat by the computer for hours catching up on all the years we missed out on. We even sang "I want it that way" which I blame the wine for allowing us to indulge in such obnoxious behavior. "So when are you meeting with them?"  "David asked if I would be able to clear my schedule for the end of the week so I can fly out to Los Angeles for two days, just to briefly meet the guys as well as their manager, plus I have a few meetings to attend at the Universal location in Santa Monica" I answered, making a mental note that I needed to make a quick shopping trip for this trip, first impressions are lasting impressions and I wanted this to turn out great."Well I'm very proud of you. I think this will be great for your career as well your life, plus any chance of getting me a ticket to a backstreet show sounds like a deal to me" I laughed at her request "Thanks Tess, it means alot". I was about to begin a new chapter that hopefully brings success to both the group as well as myself. Now I only need to get through this meeting with the boys. Wish me luck...

The Golden Coast by ShortNchic23

"American Airlines flight 33 to Los Angeles, California is now boarding". I got up from my seat and headed to make the line at the gate, gave my boarding pass to the agent at the entrance and made my way down to the plane. I had a quick surge of an adrenaline rush mixed with a crap load of nerves, I've never been to fond of flying but it's something that needed to be done if I wanted to get around. I made my way to my seat in first class, I've never been a snob about sitting in first class, coach is fine with me too but given that I'll be trapped in a plane for 6 and a half hours, the thought of a spacious seat and a quiet setting does sound alot more appealing. I had a window seat, score! I sat down and glanced out the window, it was a sunny morning in New York which meant it should be a smooth take off. These six long hours would allow me to get some sleep as well as gather my thoughts about all of this. Sure, it sounds like I'm taking this a little too serious but I can't help it, I like to put 110 percent into everything I do. After 20 minutes we finally took off into the sky and on our way to the west coast.

Those six hours went by way too quickly because as soon as I looked out the window we were descending into the Los Angeles skyline. The seatbelt sign came on and we were ready for landing. I always get anxious when it's time to land, I feel at ease once I feel that the plane has landed in solid ground. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Los Angeles LAX, the weather is currently 75 degrees time is eleven pacific time, we wanna thank you for choosing to fly with American Airlines" I heard the captain say through the intercom, I just really wanted to get out of the freakin' aircraft. Once out of the plane I was off to pick up my luggage. Waiting at the carousel I decided to turn my blackberry on, I immediately became bombarded with emails and text messages. I was going through them, a text from Tessa wishing me luck and asking to call her as soon as I got to Cali and a voice message from David letting me know that I would be meeting him in about 2 hours at the headquarters in Santa Monica. This trip was definitely more about business than any pleasure but I looked forward to it. I spotted my suitcase and yanked it out and made way to the exit. The sun was shining bright and the weather was amazing compared to the 40 degree weather in New York. I opened my bag in search of some sunglasses, making my way to the line to catch a cab. The scene was pretty chaotic considering it was only eleven in the morning, people everywhere making their way out of the airport and into the city of Los Angeles. Walking to the line I spotted a tall dark man with a suit on and aviator sunglasses holding a sign with my name, I didn't arrange a pick up but I headed towards him. "Alyssa Battaglia?" he asked "Yes" I replied "Mr. Goldstein arranged for you to be picked up, come with me" He took my suitcase and placed it in the trunk of the sleek black Cadillac escalade, he opened the door and I hopped in. We were making way to the hotel in Santa Monica. On our way there I Lowered the window and took in the sea breeze and the view of the sparkling ocean. I could totally get used to this.

We pulled up to the Loews Santa Monica Beach hotel and stepped out of the car. "I will be your driver during your stay in Los Angeles, please feel free to give me a call if you need to get somewhere" as he gave me his card. "Thank you Drew, I will need to go meet with Mr. Goldstein in about an hour and a half, you can do whatever you want till then" . I checked in and made my way to my too, once I opened the door I was in awe, it was a one bedroom suite with the most amazing view of the ocean I've ever seen. I spotted the Santa Monica pier which has always seemed iconic in Los Angeles. I definitely wanted to check it out before I had to leave, but before I can do any of that, I had business to take care of. First of all I needed to change, I was dressed in warm clothes that needed to go. I opened up my suitcase and pulled out a black bandage skirt, a white tank top and an acid washed denim jacket with some heels. I applied some make up and headed downstairs and there was Drew waiting for me. My nerves were starting to act up a bit, I should've done a shot of Patron before heading to the meeting. On my way there I called Tess, she assured me that everything was gonna be ok and that I was going to rock this shot, I'm hoping she's right.

I walked in at the Universal headquarters in Santa Monica and waited for the receptionist to escort me to David's LA office. Once I went in I saw David sitting down in his seat and a short brunette sitting across from him. She looked my way and smiled "You must be Alyssa, I'm Jennifer Sousa the boys' manager, you can just call me Jenn" we should hands and I took a seat "How was your flight?" David asked "Way TOO long" I exclaimed causing us to laugh a bit. "Well I'm glad you made it. Now you both know we're here for this project with the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer, Alyssa has been a great asset to our group and I know she can help get the group to where we all know they have potential in going". "We're pretty excited to get started, I spoke to re boys briefly about it and they seem content with having someone onboard from the label that is willing to be hands on in making the transition to a new label a smooth one" Jenn assured us, this made me feel at much ease. "I just want to let you know that I'm in no way trying to come here and steal your thunder, you are their manager and I want to work closely with you in getting everything done" I told her, I really didn't want her to think I was going to take over, all I was hoping for was that we could all work as a team . She smiled and waved her hand at me "Oh please girl dont even worry about that, it's gonna be nice to have another girl on board, I'm sure we can get these boys into shape" she laughed I was already enjoying this already and we haven't even started. "The boys are actually excited to meet you, we had a meeting last night and I spoke to them briefly about what we would be doing and they all agreed this would be best" I smiled, I was feeling really confident about this. "Speaking of which, we are supposed to be meeting them for lunch in about 20 minutes so we could all get acquainted, shall we go ladies?" asked David. We made it out of the building and made our way to probably one of the most important lunches I'll ever go to.

Introductions by ShortNchic23

Walking into the restaurant I felt those jitters you get when you're going on a first date and you're completely oblivious to how it will all pan out except this time I'd be going on a date with a boyband and their manager on tow.

Once seated all we had to do was wait for the guys to show up. Looking around I saw why this place was as busy as it was, it had one of the best views of the beach California had to offer, the restaurant was surrounded by glass panels allowing a gorgeous view of the sea while enjoying a meal with good company. I was enjoying the scenery and was interrupted by Jenn's voice. I turned around and met Backstreet Boy number one. "Hey there, I'm Howie" he said with a smile, a wink and a handshake. "Alyssa, pleasure to meet you" I replied. Howie was the business oriented backstreet boy which meant he and I would definitely be getting along. During my little "research" with Tess, we learned that he had been married a few years now and has a child named James. Oh, and he also has a charity for Lupus which is always a good thing. We made a little small talk which was allowing us to break the ice.

Backstreet Boy number two finally made it, he gave David a handshake and gave Jenn a quick hug and looked my way "You must be Alyssa, I'm Brian, it's great to finally to put a face to the name" he said with a smile. "its nice meeting you too" I replied. He grabbed a seat and sat infront of me. Brian had the ability to smile and light up the room, or maybe that's  because it was bright as hell in here already. I learned that Brian eventually became a Christian artist and his album was well received and his shows sold pretty good. I had to admire  his desire to pursue a career in singing about his faith.

We were waiting for the other half of the group. Finally Backstreet Boy number three popped up. Like Brian he said hello to David, Jenn and the other guys before directing his attention to me, "Hey there I'm Nick" he said with a warm smile offering my hand to shake, I took his hand "Nice to meet you, Alyssa" I replied. The famous Nick Carter, notorious for dating Paris Hilton, yeah and I didn't even need to research that to know this. I dont live under a rock. I knew better not to ever mention that girls name which I definitely don't intend on doing. Tessa had told me about Nick being one hell of a serial dater but I don't care about none of that non sense as long as he's doing his job. He took a seat next to Brian while all chatted. Howie looked at his watch, "Alex is never late, he must be caught in some traffic". "Probably, hell If nick made it before he did and that's one heck of a miracle may I add" Brian teased which caused  laughter around the table "Hey! Thats not true! I've come a long way you can't even deny that" Nick said with a smirk.

I've only been around them for 20 minutes and their chemistry was evident, not that I wasn't sure that eventually I'd witness them bickering. "I'm here, I'm here, sorry but LA traffic sucks balls and I couldn't make it sooner" said the fourth and final backstreet boy as he made his way to greet everyone at the table, he came towards me and offered a hug, I stood up and slipped into his embrace "hey babe I'm Alex, AJ , whatever you prefer" he said with a smile "I'm Alyssa" I responded. "I know, we heard you are pretty kick ass so I'm definitely excited to start working" he said as he took a seat next to Howie.

During my research I had found out that AJ is a recovering alcoholic and former drug addict who eventually seeked therapy. He was also engaged. He already made things so much easier for me with that hug, it felt genuine and I knew that taking on this job was going to be worth it.

"I know we've all been introduced but I'd like to give another welcome to Alyssa for joining our team and for this to be another great chapter of the Backstreet Boys filled with success and great memories" Jenn said as she raised her flute that was filled with bubbling champagne. Everyone followed suit "Cheers!" everyone exclaimed as everyone clinked their glasses. I couldn't help but smile, "Thank you Jenn, we are seriously gonna kick some major ass!" I exclaimed. "See, I like her already" said Howie giving me another one if his famous winks and a high five.

"So what's the game plan?" Brian asked. "The Backstreet Boys is a brand that has been around the industry for nearly 20 years and has been well preserved, My goal is to  have  you guys do  an amazing album and score you a Grammy" I replied feeling a surge of confidence causing the boys to stifle a laugh "We're like the Susan Lucci's of the Grammys if you didn't know, the only award we'll be getting from the Grammys is the roach award for sticking around too damn long" Brian teased , I couldn't help but laugh. "Winning a Grammy would be sweet as hell, we've busted our asses for so long it's about time we win one if those shits" AJ exclaimed. "Ultimately the goal is to produce an album in which all the songs have potential of being singles and have radio playing the songs which ultimately can lead to a nomination" I assured them.

We continued chatting about what the upcoming plans were. I learned that the boys were currently putting together a tour with the New Kids On The Block which meant while all of this is going on, they would be recording tracks for the new album that they would be putting out under Universal. I definitely will have one hell of a packed agenda. I'm gonna need loads of sleep as well as a crapload of caffeine to survive.

"So I have to ask, were you a Backstreet Boys fan?" Nick asked, giving me the famous Carter smirk that made all girls across the nation melt. I couldnt help but blush. "I was, I actually saw you guys in concert many centuries ago" I replied teasingly. "Which tour did you to?" Howie asked suddenly curious to know about my teenybopper adventures of the late 90s. " I went to see the millennium concert" I replied "Wow, man that tour was the shit. Probably my favorite we've ever done" AJ said with a sense if nostalgia. " Wait guys, More importantly , who was your favorite backstreet boy?" Nick Teased. I let out a giggle "See,that I won't  disclose" Brian placed his arm around me "Its alright , they won't get offended if you tell them it's me". This guy was way too funny. "Nope I can't say, sorry!" I said. There's no way I was going to reveal any of that! "So how long are you in LA for?" Nick asked. "Just today and tomorrow then I'm back to New York" I replied. "Well don't make plans tomorrow night, we're taking you out" Howie assured me. "Yeah, Rok is gonna be out here for a few days so it'll be cool, all four of us to take you out and initiate you to the Backstreet family" AJ said "I hope this doesn't include any hazing!" I joked but still a bit afraid of what this "initiation" could possibly be. I guess they could tell that they scared the shit out of me because they all laughed and assured me it wouldn't be anything TOO bad. Oh brother, what have I gotten myself into.....

Thoughts ?

Sweet Caroline by ShortNchic23
Author's Notes:

Decided to post  two chapters tonight :)

"It was all a dream..." my phone alarm was going off , groggily I picked it up and Looked at the time 7:30 am. Usually this was the part that I jump out of bed and run to the shower but before I could do any of that, I soaked in my surroundings, Im in a the other coast of the country I thought. I had nothing to do this morning so I had no real motive to get out of bed which is always a treat but considering New York is three hours ahead, I felt ahead of the game since I still had jet lag that wouldn't matter considering tomorrow I was back home. I walked out to the balcony and took in the fresh air and took in the beauty before me, the waves crashing and the sun slightly risen. It felt like today was going to be a pretty productive day. Yesterday went pretty smooth, the guys were great and hilarious. I can only imagine what they have planned out for tonight.

Since I was already up I opted for a morning workout at the gym in the hotel. I needed to get my stamina back up especially if things were going to get as hectic as they seem to be getting. Yesterday I got a copy of the schedule and it looks brutal but with patience and a couple of ass kickings, things will definitely get done. Last night I made a list of producers that would be great to work with which I'll let Jenn know about when we meet up this afternoon.

After my gym session, I went back to my room took a warm shower and ordered some room service. My phone vibrated and I saw I got a text message; "Heard you were in LA, wanna grab lunch?" I debated whether I wanted to answer but I caved and answered "Sure, place and time?" My phone vibrated once again "The Ivy, 12 pm?" , "Sure, see you then".

I lounged around my room till it was time to go. Drew drove me all the way to Beverly Hills. Sure I had a successful career and I had money but I never liked places like The Ivy and the whole hype around it. Los Angeles was filled with way too many fame whores for my liking. Once we arrived I walked in and spoke to the hostess. "Do you have a reservation?" she asked cheerfully. "I'm actually meeting someone here, my name's Alyssa Battaglia" I answered. "Oh right,  come this way" she said with a smile. She guided me towards my table and I finally saw her. When she saw me she got up and gave me a hug. "Oh my god Al it's been so long since I've seen you!" she exclaimed as we both took a seat. "I know Carrie, it's been way too long" I replied. Carrie or Caroline Goldstein as her birth certificate reads, is David's only daughter. She was a total daddy's little girl with a promising model career in the works. She was a 5 foot 10 golden goddess ,even on her most shittiest day she could out-do anyone around her. She was definitely a spoiled girl with David wrapped around her finger which has to partly do with the fact that Carrie's mother died of breast cancer when Carrie was only 12 years old so David felt that he could somehow fill that void with trips around the world and multiple cars. I knew that even though Carrie was my "friend", she felt as if I were taking the father away which wasn't the case. David was willing to help me because he saw my potential but sometimes carrie just didn't see that. We were two completely different people, while I was graduating college and building my career , Carrie was too busy being a socialite and partying with Paris Hilton and the gang. Regardless of all of that she had a good heart and we always kept it friendly.

It had been about a year since I saw Carrie. Since her 25th birthday ,that ended up being on of the biggest parties in Los Angeles, her father even had Neil Diamond perform "Sweet Caroline", a song David used to sing Carrie to sleep every night since she was a kid. "So dad tells me you might be relocating over here" she said as we looked through our menus. "I'm thinking about it, but if I do I won't be living here all the time, I love my apartment in New York way too much and plus that's where my family is" I replied. "I hear you took a gig with the Backstreet Boys" she said as she sipped on her water. "I've hung out with Nick a few times, such a hottie ,I'm friends with his sister Angel, she was at my birthday party that you went to last year". "Oh really?" I asked not really remembering anything. "Yeah, well I'm excited of the thought of you living out here, I got a couple of guy friends I could totally hook you up with" she exclaimed, I laughed "slow down tiger, I just got here yesterday I gotta get settled before you start sending me off on your blind dates". We both laughed and placed our orders. The rest of our time together was spent discussing anything and everything that has happened to us since we last saw eachother. It was good to have someone in the west coast who I could call a friend because being in this alone is gonna drive me crazy.

After lunch with Carrie, I was off to Meet with Jenn at Prospect Park. We sat in her office just getting acquainted as well as discussing what we would be doing. "So what did you think of the boys?" she asked. "I think they were great honestly, they seem very easy to talk to and open to new ideas which will make it easier on everyone" I answered causing Jenn to smile like a proud mother. "They are, when I came in board four years ago, it was a smooth transition from their previous manager to myself" she said "But anyways, the boys are doing this collaboration with the New Kids, they got an appearance with Ryan  next week to make the announcement of the joint tour and to announce that they will be performing at the AMAs". "Wow, sounds good so far, how many tour dates are confirmed?" I asked. "We're announcing 9 initially and are still working out the rest of the dates, were doing 25 cities, depending on the reception then we'll know whether to add more shows in the US or if we should move on to The European Leg which would take place in the fall" she answered. Jenn showed me the Promotional Picture of NKOTBSB as well as the list of the dates that were confirmed. "We're working with Live Nation to get this tour together, so far it's looking good and it's going to bring in more crowds. The boys were doing amphitheaters and casinos , this tour they're doing stadiums again" Jenn said "We'll just schedule recording sessions between their time off, I got a few producers an writers who are waiting to work with them" I assured her. "The boys are also doing a cruise in December and they'd like you to come but I'm sure they'll speak to you about that tonight" Jenn informed me. A Backstreet Boys cruise, that could only mean a load of Obnoxious behavior. After my meeting with Jenn, I did some shopping and went back to my hotel to get some rest. I was taking a nap when I felt my phone vibrate, a text message from Alex "Hey babe, I'm picking you up tonight, be ready by 8 pm, hope you're ready to have some fun". I was excited to figure out what the hell was going on! 8 pm was only two hours away, maybe it's time to get ready...

Author's Notes:

It was 8pm and after much debate on what to wear I finally opted on a pair of jeans, a tunic and a blazer- simple and to the point. I was packing my clutch when my phone vibrated. It was a message from Alex letting me know he was downstairs waiting for me. I made my way downstairs and through the lobby to find a black truck parked out on front. I noticed a figure sitting in the passenger side so I took a seat in the back. "Hey Alex" I said while buckling my seatbelt "I want you to meet someone, this is Rochelle my fiancé " he said with a hint of pride. Rochelle turned around and offered me a smile "Hey,nice to meet you" I said smiling back. Rochelle was gorgeous, she resembled a porcelain doll with her milky skin and mysterious eyes and her cherry red lipstick. "So Alex, where are we going?" I asked curious to know where we were off to. "Karaoke bar, we're gonna go sing some tunes" he said looking back at me through the mirror. "we? I think you mean You're gonna sing, dude I don't sing infront of crowds, I leave that to the professionals like yourself" I exclaimed.

We arrived at the Bar which had  a bit of a dive feel. The place was crowded with people having a good time devouring  drinks while amateur singers provided some entertainment for the crowd. I immediately spotted Brian sitting at a table by the stage with a blonde female who was cheering on the brave soul who was on stage singing a rendition of "Hit me baby one more time" by Britney Spears.  As Brian saw us walking towards up he got up, "you made it!" he exclaimed as he pulled the blonde closer "Alyssa I'd like you meet my wife Leighanne". Leighanne was gorgeous blonde with a bubbly attitude who was always smiling. She definitely complimented Brian in many ways. We all took a seat and ordered a round if shots."Where are Nick and Howie?" Rochelle asked. "I spoke to them a while ago and they said they were on their way over here" Alex replied and looked at me "And you Missy, you're gonna sing up there tonight" I shook my head no, there's no way I was going to sing especially sober." I'm gonna need some shots before I can even consider it" I giggled. Our shots came and we made a small toast, the taste of patron was pretty strong , a couple more of these bad boys and I was gonna end up singing a ton of songs. Leighanne brought over the book of songs and were looking over which songs we could possibly sing. I decided to sing "Rolling in the deep" by Adele. There were a few people ahead of me so I had plenty of time to grow some balls and actually get on stage. By then Howie joined the fun leaving Nick nowhere to be found but that was his loss.

Drinks kept coming,  and Brian and Leighanne were up. They were singing "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum, Leighanne had a pretty good voice and they played off each other on stage so adorable. We were cheering them on as Howie would let out loud whistles for them. "Alyssa I think you're up next" Rochelle informed Me teasingly knowing that I was nervous. I had a few shots by now so I wasn't too nervous but still, what if my voice cracks or I trip and bust my ass? Once they finished they came back to our table. "You guys were amazing" I exclaimed, Leighanne just grinned "Thanks, I think your up next".

I picked up another shot from the table and downed it in one gulp. Here goes nothing, I thought. I got up and I was walking away I felt someone smack my ass, I turned around surprised, "Go get 'em tiger" AJ said , which caused me and Rochelle to laugh. Walking towards the stage I felt like I was in little league and I was up to bat and  had my team mates watching. I had to knock this one out of the park.

The music began and I could hear the boys whistling and the girls cheering my name. I got this. I closed my eyes and began the song.

"There's a fire starting in my heart,

Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out the dark,

Finally, I can see you crystal clear,

Go ahead and sell me out and a I'll lay your ship bare,

See how I'll leave with every piece of you,

Don't underestimate the things that I will do, The scars of your love remind me of us,

They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,

The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,

I can't help feeling, "

I got the courage and opened my eyes and saw that people were singing along, here comes re chorus aly , don't fuck it up now.

"We could have had it all,

(You're gonna wish you never had met me),

Rolling in the deep,

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

You had my heart inside of your hand,

(You're gonna wish you never had met me),

And you played it to the beat,

(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)"

I looked over at my table and noticed Nick finally made it. He was standing beside Howie, with a drink in his hand, smiling over at me and occasionally whispering something to AJ. As the song was going, I felt more confident, shit I even sang to a random guy standing by the stage. Once the song was over I made my way back to the table. "Hey Alyssa, you killed it out there" Nick said as he gave me a hug. AJ cut in "excuse me but what the fuck are you doing as an A&R ? You should be on stage singing". I laughed, "No thanks, I don't do singing, I prefer being behind the scenes" I replied. Nick looked at me, "you know what this means right" he said with a serious face leaving me confused "uhh no, what?" I asked "You have to sing a song with me" he replied with a grin. I groaned "oh brother, fineee" I gave in, he went and retrieved the book with all the songs. A duet with Nick Carter, this will definitely be interesting.

Nick came back and took a seat beside me. "So what song do you wanna sing?" he asked. I gave him a shy smile "I don't know, hello you're the singer!" I exclaimed causing him to smirk "Come on this is a team effort!" he sounded alot more amped for this than I was. We threw different songs around until settling on "I got you babe" by Sonny and Cher, a timeless classic that everyone knows. There were a couple of people ahead of us so we all chilled at the table. "Alyssa I'm sure Jenn told you about the cruise coming up December, you comin'?" Howie asked "What exactly is this cruise about?" I asked wondering what the hell these boys were going to do in the high seas. "You know spend some time with the fans, do some activities, a concert, deck parties. Honestly,I'm scared shitless of being in such a closed proximity with about 1200 fans but it'll be one for the books" Brian joked. "It'll be fun, should come" Rochelle said. "It will and you'll get to meet some of the other people we work with" Howie told me. I thought about it and maybe it wouldnt be so bad to have a couple if days off to just lay back and have some fun, especially that I would be working close with these people. "I guess I'm in" I said. Leighanne let out a shriek of excitement, she clearly had too many drinks tonight. Nick leaned over to me, "I'm glad your coming, it's gonna be a fucking kick ass time". I smiled "I hope so, or I'm kicking all of your asses then throwing you off the boat" we both laughed and made our way to the stage to sing our song. We were acting silly on stage, getting all dramatic with the lyrics. Nicks voice definitely sounded better than I last remember. I think the booze didn't allow me to get nervous singing next to a seasoned performer like Nick.

Once the song was over I was walking back but I noticed Nick wasn't behind me. I heard the beginning of "Open Arms" by Journey playing. AJ rolled his eyes "I knew this fucker was gonna sing this song, he's been obsessed with Journey since forever" I laughed at him. "It's a classic, dont hate" I teased. We all stood infront of the stage, AJ swung his lighter from side to side while the rest swung our cellphones in the air. Brian started acting like a total fangirl, those two had a serious bromance. Before we could leave we all got on stage a did a rendition of "I want it that way", hey we were at a karaoke bar, it was only fitting. The people at the bar sang along. The energy was electric, I mean its not always that you see singers at a karaoke bar singing their own songs.

It was already midnight and time to go. I said my good byes to Howie , Brian and Leighanne. AJ had a bit too much to drink so Rochelle was gonna drive home. "I'll take you to the hotel if you want" Nick offered. AJ did seem a little out of it so maybe it was better that they go home instead of taking any detours. "If you don't mind" I replied. I said my goodbyes with AJ ad Rochelle and swapped numbers with her so we could keep in touch. We walked towards a  black Mercedes hard top convertible. Nick opened the door for me before hopping in and we were on our way. "So at what time is your flight tomorrow?" Nick asked quickly glancing at me while driving "At noon" I answered looking back at him. I quickly studied his profile, I had to hand it to him the guy was gorgeous. "Are you relocating over here?" he asked. That seems to be the golden question. "Thinking about getting a place out here, but I'll probably split my time between here and New York. How about you, you live out here full time?" I asked. "Yeah I do, I had a home in Tennessee which I  sold so now I'm living in Malibu." he answered "Tennessee? You definitely don't look like a country boy to me" I teased " why not? I'm a country boy at heart" he replied doing his best impersonation  of a southern accent and let out a loud "Yeehaww!" I burst into laughter causing Nick to laugh too. "you just don't seem like the type of guy who would trade in a car for  a tractor" I said, "There's alot you don't know about me young grasshopper but in due time we will have more time to get to know eachother" nick said  "I'm looking forward to that. I had alot if fun by the way, thanks for everything" I said feeling really grateful for their hospitality. "No problem, it was fun and to think that many more fun times are to come" he replied. We finally made it to the hotel and I wished we could just keep on driving but I knew that just wasn't possible; I had a flight to catch tomorrow and he probably had someone waiting for him at home. It felt good to have some company especially someone like Nick who had me cracking up the whole night. Nick brought the car to a halt bringing me out of my thoughts. "So when are you coming back?" he asked looking at me in the eyes. These past two days made me notice Nick's habit of looking at people in the eye when he spoke as if he's really trying to convey his message. I swear anyone could get caught in those baby blues, not that I would say that out loud of course. "I should be back by next week, I wanna start looking around for a place to live and I wanna start setting up over here" I responded. "Do you want me to walk you up?" Nick asked. I waved him off "No thanks it's okay really" I answered " I should get going". I grabbed my clutch and was ready to open up the door "wait!" Nick exclaimed. He got out of the car and walked to my side and opened my door, I couldn't help but giggle at his gesture. "why thank you " I said giving him a smile "Well I should get going". Nick opened his arms for a hug so I gave him a small hug. "It was nice meeting you , again " he said "Same here" I replied slowly walking towards the front doors of the hotel. I looked back and Nick waved and went back into his car while I went up to my room and let these past 48 hours finally sink in.

Back in the Big Apple by ShortNchic23

Flying back to New York was such a blur, I left palm trees, beaches and rodeo drive behind for buildings, crowded subways and Madison Avenue. As much as I enjoyed LA, there's no place like home. I was back in my office working on what I had been soon before I began my new position. I wanted to get everything done before I could give the boys my 100 percent. I'd be passing my current project onto one of my collegues who I know would do a better job than I would.

I was looking forward to meeting up with Tess, she wanted to meet up for drinks just to catch up on what I was up to in LA, she probably just wanted me to dish out on the boys. I swear that girl has an inner teeny just waiting to come out. Once I was able to get out of work I headed off to Rosa Mexicano , a festive Mexican restaurant with amazing margaritas. As I was walking towards the restaurant, I spotted Tess on the phone arguing with someone. As soon as she saw me she gave me a nod and said goodbye to whoever was getting torn a new one. "Well, well hello there miss Hollywood " she teased as she hung up her  call "Oh shut up, lets go in" I Said sarcastically, pushing her towards the door. We got a table and placed our orders. Tessa was looking at me smiling but not saying anything, this girl was freaking me out   "what the hell are you smiling at?" I asked. "I'm waiting for your ass to tell me how it went!" she exclaimed "How did it go?". "It went good, alot better than I thought it would" I answered "So how are those guys ,douche bags?" she asked "The complete opposite, they were amazing, even invited me on their cruise" I said. Tess looked at me confused "Their cruise? What are you talking about?" "yeah, they're doing a cruise in a month and a half, they said I could bring someone if I want. Do you wanna join me and the thousand other backstreet devoted girls?" I joked.  "You know I'd be all for it, but I'm gonna be in Key west with James looking at venues for the wedding" she replied giving me a pout. "I think one of the ports is Key West, maybe we could meet up and you can meet the guys" I offered. "That could work, meeting Nick Carter, oh baby. Is he as dreamy as he looks" she asked wanting to know all the details. "He's pretty hot, but you know I don't mix business with pleasure, I learned my lesson with that" I replied.

I continued to tell Tess about karaoke and the upcoming projects the boys had lined up. She seemed so eager and excited she had an inside info that people didn't know yet. "So I had lunch with someone while I was in LA " I said a little weary of how Tess might react. "Who?" she asked. "Umm carrie" I replied waiting for Tessa's smart ass remarks. She looked in disgust "Why would you hang with that snob, no offense but I don't like the bitch". Tessa had no real reason to dislike Carrie, she just says she has a bad "feeling" about her. "what was I supposed to do? Say no?" I asked. "that's exactly what you say, Al I know she's your boss' daughter but the girl is a bitch, she puts a front like you guys are cool but she has a hidden agenda or something, every time you were working with an artist she always had to do some shit to try and ruin it for you, keep your eyes open because this new project you got going on right now is looking good and she will be the bitch to screw you over" she warned me. "I know, I know ; wanna know something funny? She's actually friends with Nicks sister and she's hung out with Nick a few times" I said , thinking of the coincidence. "You see! Keep your eyes peeled" she replied. "So I've been looking at listings in Los Angeles" I told Tess  trying to change the subject. "I can't believe you're leaving me " Tess said with an upset face "Oh be quiet , your already getting married soon and relocating to Chicago so technically you were leaving me first , and you know you can come crash over there whenever you or James want" I assured her. "You're the maid of honor of our wedding you better invite us there !" she exclaimed "Speaking of which, I say bachelorette party in LA?" I asked. "Sounds good to me, maybe Howie can be my stripper" she laughed. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought of howie as a stripper, he was way too nice to be giving a bunch of girls lap dances . "I'll see what I can do" I joked.

Dinner and drinks with Tessa was fun, she always knew how to but me at ease. I was really going to miss her once she moves to Chicago, leaving me with a bicoastal living arrangement. I just hope that I can handle it and I'm not forced to stay in one coast. We said our goodbyes and I hailed a cab and went home. I was looking forward to a nice quiet night at home catching up on Some movies while indulging in some wine.

After a Long shower, I put on sweats and a t shirt and went straight to my bed. A big king size bed all to myself. This was the life, even though once in a while I wouldnt mind sharing my bed with someone. It's been so long since I've given anyone a chance I think I've become a little rusty in the love department. Ugh listen to me, I sound so pathetic. I turned on the TV and The Hangover was on, Bradley Cooper was such a stud. My thoughts were interrupted by my buzzer going off. I reluctantly got up and answered it. It was a delivery, I didn't order anything so I had no idea what it could possibly be. I opened the door to see a delivery guy holding a gigantic floral arrangement. I took the arrangement and placed in on the table wondering who could possibly send me this. A secret admirer perhaps? I took notice of a small card, I took it and opened the envelope and read the message which read "Alyssa, to new beginnings! Love, Alex, Brian,  Howie, and Nick" Those boys were too much, I couldn't wait to see them again.

Finding a home by ShortNchic23

Two weeks flashed before my eyes and before I knew it I was back in LA. The boys had announced their joint tour with NKOTB as well as their performance at the American Music Awards. It was an exciting time for all of us, the promo for the tour as well as the show were on heavy rotation. The boys were spending their days in rehearsal, while I worked with Jenn arranging times where they could hit the studio for the new album as well as helping with the tour. I haven't seen those boys since our adventure at the karaoke bar but I was supposed to swing by rehearsals to meet up with Howie since he agreed to help me out with finding a place to live. I was ready to have a place of my own.

After meeting with Jenn, I left Prospect Park and headed to the rehearsals. I hopped in my rented sparkling white Range Rover and made my way over. Having a driver was cool and all but I rather do my own thing. After finding a place to live I was gonna have to get myself a set of wheels. After a 20 minute drive, I was finally there. I walked into a rehearsal room finding nine guys dancing and singing. They were all in the zone, putting 100 percent into it. I stood on the side trying to make my presence unknown while the track was playing. Once the run-through was over I walked to the other side of the room where the boys were congregated. Their adrenaline was pumping. They were discussing something but then Howie turned around and saw me standing there. "Hey!" he exclaimed giving me a hug."Hey, you guys are looking good. The set up looks pretty good" I replied. By now the other guys turned around and found Howie and I talking. "Hey, what are you doing here?!" Brian said while he gave me a hug. "Keeping tabs on your asses" I joked. "Actually, Howie an I are gonna go check a couple of apartments, I wanna start getting settled out here". AJ came over and gave me a hug, "Well I think we're gonna run through it one more time and call it day" he said. I looked over at Nick who was focused on whatever he had going on his lap top."Earth to Nick!" Brian said as he waved his hand infront of Nick's face. Nick looked up at Brian "Huh? What happened?" he asked. " Quit being a rude ass, we have a visitor" he replied. He looked over and saw me there standing with Howie and AJ, he closed his lap top and walked over. "My bad I was looking at something and I kinda spaced out" He said as he gave me a hug "What's up?" he asked. "Waiting for Howie so we could go apartment hunting" I replied "Howie's like Donald Trump, you'll definitely find something, but if you need a second opinion I could go with you guys if you want" he offered. "Well if you have nothing to do after this sure you can come" I replied.  So it was settled, I was going hunting for an apartment with Nick and Howie. I took a seat and watched the boys do their thing.

Once the rehearsal was over, we walked to the parking lot. Howie made his way to his car as I made my way to my car with Nick on tow. "Damn look at you, a Range Rover," He teased. "It's a rental, don't get too excited" I laughed. "Can I ride with you, Howie can't drive for shit" he said. "How did you get here then?" I asked as we got in the car. "I came with AJ" he replied. We drove out of the lot and into the streets following Howie into the first location. In the car Nick and I would sing along to the songs in the radio. "So are you excited to the AMA's?" I asked quickly glancing over at Nick."Yeah, I mean I can't even remember the last time we've performed in an awards show in the US, everyone kinda thinks we're dead" he laughed. "Well I know I just came around, but I'm really proud of you guys, it looks like it's going to be a promising year" I replied. "Hope so, are you going to the show?" he asked. "I think so" I said. "Good, so you can see me shake my sexy ass" he said teasingly. I couldn't help but laugh at his cockiness."Wow, cocky aren't we?" I said sarcastically. "Hey you can't deny what's true" he said playing along. "Nick Carter you are too much" I said as we both laughed. "You aint seen nothing yet" he teased with that playful grin of his.I just rolled my eyes and laughed, I can't believe some girls would drool on themselves if he were to say that to them. We pulled up to the first location, it was medditeranean  style complex that was gated. It had a gym and pool and everything else I could ask for. I had a good feeling about this place.

We walked into the empty apartment which was in the top floor. It was really spacious with a descent size kitchen, large living room with an outdoor terrace, with 2 bedrooms. We walked into the master bedroom "So what do you think?" Howie asked as I glanced around the room making my way towards the walk in closet. I couldn't believe all the space I would be having, space in New York is so scarce that having a second apartment to spread everything around would be great. This place wasn't mine yet but I was already picturing where I would put some of my stuff. "I love it, this would be perfect, the size of this room is amazing, and having a spare room is good so I can have people over" I replied. "Everything is close by, The Grove  is a few Minutes away, there's restaurants and whatever you may need, there's also a church around here if you go to church" Howie said as Nick stifled a laugh causing us to look at him. "What's so funny Nicky?" Howie asked, completely oblivious to what Nick found so funny. "Church Howie? Are you serious, are you getting all holy and shit like Brian ?" He teased. "What's wrong with going to church? I actually go to church, dont you?" I asked "Nope, my religion is football and I attend the church of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers every Sunday" he replied sarcastically "Oh wow, that's one hell of a church" I replied laughing. "You know it baby" he said. I started walking out of the room and I turned and looked at Nick "Oh by the way Nick, the Bucs fucking suck" I teased and walked out of the room. I overheard Howie laughing at Nick. "oh hell no!" I heard Nick call out. Nick was way too easy to tease, he's gonna be fun to annoy.

After looking through the apartment I decided this would be the place I would call home when I come to Los Angeles. It was spacious enough for me, especially that I would be out here alone. I couldn't wait to get started with decorating this place and giving it my touch. I signed all the necessary papers and the apartment was officially mine. I am now a resident of the state of California. Now all I needed to do was hire some painters and do some serious furniture shopping. Exciting times in California were sure to come, just a lot sooner than I thought.

Fixing up my new apartment was a mission, I finally had people come in and paint the apartment but now I found myself in a huge mess; boxes everywhere and I had an awards show to get ready for. The awards would be starting at 5pm since it's supposed to show at 8 eastern time so I was definitely in a time crunch. I managed to go to my hair appointment and do my make up. LA traffic was such a bitch that I had to leave earlier than usual. I did a last minute check on myself in the mirror; hair was great, make up on point, dress looks good. I grabbed my clutch and headed out.

Traffic in downtown LA was no joke. It was a struggle to get down there, caravans of stretch limos, police patrolling the streets, it was definitely a zoo. I pulled in at one of the entrances and the valet took my car and I headed inside the venue. People were already taking their seats and I made my way over to where I'd be sitting with Jenn. The show started with a bang, as Rihanna took the stage and sang her current hits. The show was amazing so far but I couldnt help but feel jitters just thinking of the crowds reaction when these boys would perform. I took out my phone and sent a massive text to all the boys wishing them them luck. They all replied with "thank you's" except Nick of course. I felt my phone vibrate , a message from Nick"Where are you?" he wrote, "In the audience duh, break a leg tonight, super excited for you guys!" I replied. I went on to enjoy the rest of the show ,my phone vibrated once again "Thanks, let's meet up after the show" it was Nick again, I didn't answer and put the phone away.

After nearly two hours, the boys were on. As the screens went up and revealed the nine guys standing there, the crowd erupted in cheers and applauses and got on their feet excited to see the performance these boys would deliver. I couldn't help but get excited, not only because of the fact that they were performing in the show but also because I felt the hint of nostalgia of when I was  just a young girl watching them in concert. They sang their hits "Everybody", "I want it that way", and " Larger than life" while the New Kids sang "Step by Step" "Hangin tough" and "The right stuff". Their dance moves were on point and the singing was superb, I took a look around me and found everyone singing along to "Larger Than Life". The two groups were on rising platforms as confetti was shooting out into the stage and crowd. I think it's safe to say this was a success.

As soon as the show ended, I went to the boys' trailer with Jenn. The scene backstage was chaotic as many celebrities were mingling, while others were headed to their limos to make their way to the afterparties Hollywood had to offer. We walked in and found the boys getting their things together. The trailer was pretty spacious with a couch and TV as well as a table stacked with drinks and food for the boys to indulge in. "You guys were amazing " I said as I took a seat next to AJ who was putting his lap top in book bag. "My fucking ear piece was acting up" Nick said clearly upset. "It was off by a second, honestly it's not as bad as you think" Jenn assured him. "She's right, you jumped right back into place anyways, just enjoy the fact that you guys had a great performance" I said trying to assure him that it really wasn't as bad as he thought. "Im pretty happy with how we did tonight, crowd seemed to like it" Brian said as he put his jacket on. The boys were filing out of the trailer, and we were saying our goodbyes. "Well I'm gonna see you guys later, I have a flight home to catch" he said while hugging his boys, he turned to me " And I'll see you in Miami in 2 weeks right?" he asked giving me a smile "of course I'll be there, tell Leighanne I said hello" I replied. "See ya, gotta go" Brian sang as he left. "Well I gotta get going, I have a ton of things to unpack still" I said as I turned to everyone. "No flashy afterparties tonight?" Howie asked. "Nope, its just me and my boxes, I have a TV that I have yet to install" I replied "Want any help, I could come over" Nick offered. "I'm sure you have better things to do Nick" I teased. "No I'm serious, we'll get some food And we'll fix some stuff up. Maybe put up the TV and we'll watch the performance again tonight, you wanna?" he asked. His offer was tempting, I wouldn't mind the help and he was pretty fun to hang out with. "Deal" I replied. We all said our goodbyes and I went home while Nick went home to change to then come over.

I made it home and quickly went to change. The five inch heels murdered my feet. Once I took those shoes off I welcomed the pain that soon felt like an immense relief. I changed into shorts, a pull over hoodie and some flip flops and began opening boxes. My packages ranged from Dishes and appliances to speakers and DVD players. I'm never gonna finish this. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. I went to open it and found Nick standing there, he traded his slacks and blazer for basketball shorts and a sleeveless t shirt. I led him into my living room, which was stacked with all sorts of boxes. "you weren't kidding when you said you had a ton of stuff to unpack, did ya?" Nick said as he looked around. I groaned, "tell me about it". "How about we pick up something to eat, come back and eat here and get started" Nick Suggested. "Sounds good" I said picking up my apartment keys and shoving them in my pocket.

We made our way downstairs and into Nicks car. We were aimlessly cruising the streets. "So what do you wanna eat?" Nick asked. "is there a burger joint or something around here? I've been craving some serious junk food" I replied switching the radio station trying to find something good to listen to. Nick looked at me and laughed "what?" I asked "I'm inviting you out to eat and you want that?" he replied shaking his head in disbelief "Well you asked what I wanted, that's what I want" I replied."Theres an In-N-out near by" Nick said as he made a right turn. A couple of blocks down and we made our way to the drive thru. Nick groaned, "I can't believe I'm about to eat this stuff, do you know what this will do to me". Nick sounded worse than a girl, usually the girl is the one to opt for a salad, since when is the guy all worried about his figure. "How many pounds have you lost?" I asked. "About 65 or so" he answered tapping his finger on the steering wheel. "I remember when you looked-" I said "like a whale?" Nick interrupted "yeah I know,I was such a fucking fat ass, I ate like a beast". I looked at him to make sure he wasn't offended or anything. "Actually even when you were a 'whale' you were adorable" I said pinching his cheek, hoping to boost his ego a bit. He gave me a smile."see, there you go, just consider this a celebratory meal for tonight" I said sweetly "Fine but for this, your ass is going hiking with me" he pointed his finger at me.  We were next, and we placed our orders , having some burgers, fries, and big milkshakes.

We made our way back to my home as we were walking back to my apartment I felt Nick put his arm around my shoulder. "You're short" he said. "Anyone is short next to you" I giggled. We made it to my apartment and placed our food on the coffee table as we sat on the floor across from each other. We were soon indulging in our food, "So I think we should play a game" Nick said arching his left eyebrow "What game?" I asked wondering what could he possibly want to play. "21 questions, now you have to be completely honest, no bullshit" he said as he ate a fry. "How old are we again?" I laughed "Come on dont be a pooper, this will be fun. Oh a personal questions count too" Nick said. "Fine, you start" I said "Let's start easy, what  was your first impression of me?" he asked "Honestly before I ever met you, I totally pegged you for a famewhore" I started "A fame whore? Why?" he asked looking at me intently waiting for an answer. "Just 'cause of what I used to hear about you, well more like what the media portrayed you like but after spending time with you, I noticed you're pretty humble with a hint of a weirdo" I teased "well gee thanks" he replied as he stuck his tongue out at me. "My turn, were you in love with you know who" I said, immediately regretted asking the question. Nick sighed, "Well damn you went right into the deep shit, by that you know who I'm guessing you mean Paris, honestly I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't because I did but that was also a fucked up time in my life, I was drinking and partying doing a load of coke, I was out of control but I mean I was young , and the thought of being with someone as famous as I was appealed to me. I was another person then. I look at the bigger picture now and I know that I'm the one that was better off " he replied "I'm glad you see it that way" I replied "How about you have you dated a famous person?" he asked "Maybe" I replied while I sucked on the straw avoiding his glance "You have, havent you. Who is it?" he exclaimed suddenly being all interested in my dirty laundry. "Come on, I opened up about dating Paris, now you gotta spill it too" oh man, what did I just get myself into. "Fine, I didnt have a relationship with a famous person but I did go on a couple of dates with Taio Cruz, there I said it, happy now!" I said as Nick began singing the chorus to "Dynamite". I threw fries at him "Idiot" I laughed. "who would have thought, so what happened there?" he asked "Nothing, I just didn't feel like dating a singer was the thing for me, cool dude just not for me" I replied as I cleaned up the mess I was making on the table. "Dating a singer ain't that bad, think of the perks; they write songs about you and can sing you to sleep, what girl wouldn't like that?" he said "Sounds amazing" I replied sarcastically. "Wait I almost forgot, this is the perfect oppourtunity, who's your favorite backstreet boy?" he asked with a grin."Dude, you're not gonna let that go are you?" I replied laughing at his persistence  "Nope, come on let's hear it" he said waiting for me to reveal the answer to the golden question. "I you must know, it's Kevin" I replied giving him a shy smile, I can't believe this ass is putting me in the spot. He made a disgusted face "Kevin?! Tall dude with bushy eyebrows Kevin?" he asked in disbelief "Yup, got a problem?" I played along "Well damn I thought you had better taste" he teased "How about we start setting up this TV, if we wanna catch the show" I said as I got up and took the trash over to the kitchen.

We Worked together in carrying the TV into its place, I almost dropped it because Nick wouldn't stop making me laugh that I would lose my grip. We kept our 21 questions game going while we worked. He talked about his love for Japan while I talked about my dream to go to Italy. He spoke about where he wanted to with the next group album and I spoke about where I would take him. We eventually set up the TV and cleared up the living room, catching the performance they had just done hours ago. We stayed up through the night just getting to know each other and laughing about random things till I could barely keep my eyes open and Nick took it as a hint to leave. It was great to not only have a colleague but a friend in this crazy city.

I'm on a boat by ShortNchic23

"I'm on a boat, I'm on a boat" my Alarm rang,I grabbed my phone, 7:OO in the morning, though it was a cloudy morning with light rain, my spirits were high and ready to take on the day. It was cheesy but fitting that my alarm would be this song considering I was in Miami, boarding the Backstreet cruise in just a few hours. These next few days were sure to get interesting. The itinerary was jam packed with different events, such as Family Feud, a dating game, and dare i say it- Twister. it was definitely gonna wear out these boys. It was good to have a change of scenery just for a few days considering I had just come from a cold and brisk New York, Having spent the Thanksgiving holidays with my family.

Everyone was to meet at the hotel lobby by 9:30 am to load up on the buses to head off to the Port of Miami. That gave me a few hours of sanity and time to get myself together.

Once it was time to go, I took the elevator to the lobby, finding a crowd of people  lounging around waiting for the buses to come. I went to the front desk to check out as I heard someone call my name as they approached me. "Hey Leighanne" I exclaimed giving her a hug "Hey, so there's a little someone I would like you to meet" she said pulling a young boy with blonde shaggy hair "This is my son Baylee". Baylee was just like his father, physically and he also had his charm. "Hey there Baylee." I said shaking the little ones hand. "So are you ready for the insanity?" Leighanne asked "I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a bit nervous, i haven't been around backstreet fans since I was one of them but that was back in 1999" I chuckled "Well the fans are...still crazy for the boys, but it's gonna be fun" Leighanne replied as we went to take a seat at one of the sofas. Brian spotted us and came over. "Hey you made it, how was your flight?" he greeted me "Good, got in pretty late but everything was good, are you ready to get this show on the road?" I asked "I'm a little scared, hopefully I won't have to run for dear life away from the fans" he teased. I was getting the feeling that everyone was nervous and scared all at the same time about this trip, this was their first cruise so we were all oblivious to what this cruise with fans would turn out like.

Two chartered busses made their way and people started filing in the buses. I was headed towards the bus where the employees would be riding. "Alyssa!" I heard someone yell. I turned and found AJ and Rochelle loading their stuff. "Come here woman" AJ called. I walked over an greeted them each with a hug . "What are you doing riding over there, you're riding with us babe" he said as he loaded my suitcase into the bus "come on" Rochelle said as she lead me onto the bus. The bus was filled with family and friends that the boys had invited along on this trip. I was introduced to a few of them by Rochelle. I took a seat and got into my own zone checking emails and text messages since I'd be phoneless while at sea. "WOOO! I'm on a boat!" someone exclaimed while they boarded the bus, everyone cheered on. I looked over, Nick of course. He took a seat across the isle from me. His adrenaline was pumping. "Well well well look who it is" he said grinning "Good morning Nickolas" I said sarcastically. "Are you ready to party" he asked as he took his headphones off. "The question is are you ready for the insanity, you're the "heartthrob " of the group" I teased. "Fuck it, I'm ready..booze, cruise, parties I'm ready baby" he replied. "alright, I'll have fun watching the fans chasing you down the hallways" I said "well, you'll just have to hide me in your room" he grinned "Righttt" I rolled my eyes and laughed.

The bus ride to the Port of Miami was full of banter and excitement. We were there pretty early, despite the fact that fans were told  boarding was  at 12pm, it was 10 in the morning and there were fans all ready to board the ship and start the party. After going through security and checking in, we were going up the escalators and flashes were going off non stop with fans letting out shrieks of excitement, hollering at the boys to look at their direction. I tried to remain in the back and blend with the crowd. The more far back I was the better. We finally made it inside, this ship was huge, it really seemed like a floating city with shops, a spa and many other amenities. I was given my all access pass and I headed to my cabin. I was on deck 7, which had a separate area roped off for the boys and their guests. I went into my room and found myself in a spacious suite With a king size bed ,sofa, and all the works. I wouldve been fine with an inside cabin but I can't deny that a balcony was pretty sweet. I looked at the itinerary that I was given and the boys had no events till 5 which gave everyone time to get settled. I wanted to check the boat out while it was still normal out there so I grabbed my key and phone and headed out. Walking down the hallway I heard someone call my name from a room, I stepped into the room. A penthouse suite, well damn talk about big pimpin. Nick poked his head out of the balcony "Come see this" he called. I walked out to the balcony "what's up?" I asked "Look at this" he said as he nodded towards the Miami skyline. We leaned towards the railing taking it all In. I broke our silence, "Jenn worked her ass off for this to happen didn't she". "Yeah she did, have you ever been on a cruise before?" he asked "Nope, always wanted to but never had the time" I answered looking at the seagulls flying above us. "We should go on another cruise one day" he said as I gave him a questioning look "you know like everyone together but with no fans or security or scheduled events, just chillin'" he quickly added. "That would be fun, but how about we get through this one first" I chuckled "You're right, we haven't even started sailing yet, and by the looks of our schedules, a vacation is gonna have to take a backseat for a while" he said giving me the famous Carter half smile."well listen, I was gonna go take a walk around the ship if you wanna come" I offered. "Sure, but security is gonna have to tag along" he replied.

Walking around the lido deck with Nick and two security guys, I wasn't aware of what I had gotten myself into until I saw a group of about 30 girls making a dash towards Nick. All with a camera on tow asking for hugs and pictures. If this was Any indication of how this cruise was going to be then I was definitely in for something.

It's a Masquerade, a love parade by ShortNchic23

To say the "International Luv" deck party was a success would be a huge understatement. Drinks were flowing and the music was pumping, setting the tone for this trip. Poor Howie had way too many drinks and went to bed early, leaving the rest of us to party on  for him. I tried staying up as late as I could, by four o'clock in the morning I found myself in the comfort of my  bed still in my dress and heels. I woke up with a mild hangover but I was on a cruise, this was no time to be in bed. I got up and checked my phone for the time, 9 am. Not bad considering yesterday's shenanigans. I nearly forgot that I was to meet Tessa and James today.I desperately  needed coffee. Finding the coffee shop was a mission, the ship was a gigantic maze but I finally found it oddly situated by the club and  the casino. I grabbed my coffee and went off to the Palladium Theater, where the boys were rehearsing for the concert scheduled on the last night of the trip.

Walking in I saw  the boys on stage doing their dance routine to "We've got it going on". I took a seat in the front row, bopping my head along to the song as I sipped on my coffee. How these guys had the strength to dance after a night of hard core partying is beyond me but I had to give them props for it. After the quick rehearsal , I walked up on stage. "Well good morning you hardcore partiers" I teased "I don't know about Howie, he kinda just disappeared on us" Brian replied "I drank way too much, I couldn't see straight anymore, I dont even know how I got into bed" Howie defended. "You're not so bad yourself New York, you know how to party" AJ said giving me a pound. I chuckled "Well I try". "Hopefully Howie doesn't fall asleep on us tonight again, you grandpa" Nick teased as he lightly pushed Howie. "Shut it Nicky, I'm gonna go now, I'll see you guys later" Howie replied. "I'm gonna go catch up on some sleep, later y'all" AJ said "I'm sure you need some sleep after flashing your cock to half the people on the ship, that must've  worn you down" Nick said with a smirk, I couldn't help but laugh remembering AJ standing on top of the bar drunk off his ass pulling up his kilt and flashing his underwear causing camera flashes to go off non stop. "Fuck you dude" AJ chuckled flipping Nick his middle finger as he walked off. "Oh Nickkk" I said in a sing song tone "Yeah?" he asked grabbing a bottle of water "Are you doing anything?" I asked sweetly "I was thinking about going into town" he replied "Oh me too, I'm actually supposed to meet my bestfriend in about 30 minutes, she's a fan and she couldn't come on the cruise because she's with her fiancé scouting locations for their wedding. Is there any chance you would come with me so she can meet you" I asked a bit afraid of what his reaction would be "Yeah sure why not, but security has to come" he replied as we walked off stage . "Not a problem, thanks by the way" I said "You're welcome punk, now let's get going " he replied as we went to our rooms to retrieve our stuff and made our way out of the boat and onto the streets of Key West.

We walked down Duval street, a strip full of  lively bars that had music blaring even at this time in the morning. It was a party town even if it was December. We walked towards the bar where I was supposed to meet up with Tess and James. "She told you to meet up at Ricks?!" Nick exclaimed "Yeah?" I answered "Man, this place used to be my spot back in the days, I haven't been here in ages" Nick said with a hint of nostalgia "Come on, she's upstairs" I replied as we walked in. We made our way to the second floor, a terrace looking over Duval street perfect for people watching. I spotted Tess looking at her phone probably wondering why I took so long. "Tess!" I called. She looked my way and smiled. We walked over to their table "So Tess and James, I'd like you to meet Nick..Nick this is my bestfriend Tessa and her fiancé James" I said as they shook hands and everyone took a seat. "So how's the cruise going?" Tessa asked. Nick and I looked at each other and laughed "It's definitely going...alot of fans,events,parties..it's pretty cool" Nick replied. "I wish you guys were with us..how's the wedding planning going by the way" I asked "It's going good, we decided to do the ceremony on the beach, then the reception will be outside at The southernmost house" Tessa replied "Sounds romantic, can't wait" I said while James laughed and looked at Nick "Women" "tell me about it" Nick laughed. "Hey!" I exclaimed while giving Nick a slight nudge in the arm. "So how is Aly behaving?" Tessa asked, I groaned "she's good so far, nothing crazy..yet" Nick replied as he arched his eyebrow at me. "Oh brother, you guys I'm a big girl I know how to behave"I said "Right, says the girl who hopped on the bar at coyote ugly and couldn't be taken down" Tessa replied and stuck her tongue out at me. I felt my cheeks suddenly feel warm "I was like 21 and it was because we finally took all of our finals, you know I don't pull those stunts anymore" I said. As everyone in the table laughed. I was definitely going to kill Tessa the next time I had her alone.

Lunch went great but it was time to head back to the ship. We took a group picture which I had suggested knowing Tessa wasn't gonna have the balls to ask. We said our goodbyes as Tessa and James were off to their hotel and we were on a trolley making our way back to the ship.I was gazing at the scenery passing us by, "So you were a wild one, huh" Nick teased  "Right, more like a nerd" I replied "Tessa was more of a party girl than I was, even though I was the one working at the bars". "So are you ready for round 2 tonight you wild child" Nick asked "Yeah but I'm gonna have to need a power nap if I'm gonna stay up through the night with you boys" I chuckled as the trolley came to a stop. A line was forming as we walked towards the entrance, fans were shouting Nicks name from different directions just hoping to get a smile or at least quick wave. To think that nearly 10 years ago I was one of them and now  working beside them, it's a crazy way how life works. Once we made it through the crowds, Nick went off to the Palladium theater for the Backstreet Q&A, while I went to my room to get some much needed rest.

Sitting in a chair in my balcony, taking in the view of the crystal blue ocean in front of me I felt my phone vibrate. A message from Tess, "Thanks for today, Glad you're having fun you deserve it PS Nick is fucking hot"

I laughed, Tess was too much "No problem darling, hope you guys have fun in Key West PS I'm going to kill you"

"Why?"

"For your little coyote ugly story"

"Oh shut up, Nick thought it was cute, btw you guys are cute together u should totally hit that"

"STFU, I'll TTYS , xoxo"

After a long nap it was time to glam up for formal night followed by the Masquerade deck party. I slipped on a gold sequin dress, put my heels on and I was ready to go. I was applying the last bit of make up as I heard someone knocking on my door. "Whoa baby someones dressed to kill" Jenn said "Why thank you darling, as do you" I replied as I spun her around. Rochelle and AJ walked over to join us "You women are looking fucking gorgeous tonight" AJ said as he gave each of us a twirl. We then walked to the elevators which  began getting crowded as fans were trying to get pictures with AJ, who took as many as he could before the elevator doors opened and we  made our way to Dinner. At the Universal Dining Room everyone was dressed to impress, girls wearing beautiful dresses of all different colors and styles. I complimented as many girls as I could knowing the effort they must've put into their outfits so they could look just right.  I sipped on my glass of wine as Rochelle was filling me in on her wedding details also letting me know that I was invited for the festivities. I didn't know them for a long time but I knew she was the right one for AJ, they complimented each other in every single way and I was happy that they could eventually have a future together. While discussing Vera Wang and Alexander McQueen we were interrupted by flashes and shrieks as Nick walked across the dining room and took a seat at our table. "Geez Carter, you sure know how to make an entrance" AJ said sarcastically . "My bad" he replied  sheepishly as he glanced over to Rochelle and I.Dinner was great as we dined and spoke about what we would all be doing after the cruise as well as Christmas and New Years Eve plans.

It was time to hit the lido deck for the masquerade party. It was a sea of color- glitter, beads, feathers, and masks. The music was pumping and the drinks kept on coming. I looked over the railing as everyone was looking up at the boys as they threw beads in all sorts of directions. Brian came over my direction and put his arm around me "You know what, I'm glad you're here, you're the shit" he said chucking. Someone had obviously had a little bit too much to drink but then again no one on this boat was sober. "Thanks Brian, you're the shit too" I replied lightly patting his chest. Leighanne pulled me over to the center of the "stage" and We started dancing to "Masquerade" , she went on to the edge of the balcony to get everyone pumped as Brian came over and grabbed her a gave her a kiss in front of everyone which caused an uproar of cheers. I felt someone tug my arm and spin me around, Nick was standing there with his mask on with a drink in his hand as he started singing his part of the song

"I gotta know the girl behind the mask

Let me in, where you been, don't pretend

Dreamed that I had her alone

Show your face to me, we could be everything"

We was stroking my cheek with his his index finger As he sang to me and if I said I didn't feel my heart flutter I would be liar. He pulled me into a hug, "you look gorgeous tonight " he said into my ear rather loudly. I pulled my head back to look at him as I rested my hands on his chest "and you're drunk" I laughed as I lightly pushed him off "I'm not I swear" he said raising his right arm with a deadpan face. I rolled my eyes "Righttt" I replied. "Ok, I lied I am drunk" he giggled "but you are looking fucking amazing". I blushed "Thanks, how about we go get another drink" I said as we walked to the makeshift bar at the VIP section. I'm definitely loving this cruising thing.

Back to reality by ShortNchic23

Leaving Miami wasn't going to be any fun, I had  tons of work to look forward to, reality didn't seem appealing to me right now. The past two days at sea  were great, filled with so much laughter and fun times,  these  four days at sea made up for all those spring break vacations I was never able to take during college . The sun had barely risen and it was time to debark the ship before everyone else had a chance to do so to avoid the chaos. I made a last check up to make sure that I didn't forget anything. I heard commotion in the hallway, I took a peek and saw a very drunk Nick being held by two rose tours staff members. "whats going on?" I asked Mike, Nicks bodyguard "He had too much to drink, now is when he's getting back and we gotta get going soon" he said as he glanced at his watch. "I'll help him out, I'm pretty much ready to leave, go get yourself together" I replied glancing inside the room, seeing Nick passed out on the bed."Are you sure?" he asked "Positive, I'll have this bonehead ready by the time you get back" I smiled. I walked in the room finding  clothes laying everywhere, such a guy thing to do. I went over to the bed, nick was sleeping in fetal position. I sat next to him, he looked peaceful sleeping, as much as I knew how blissful sleep was after a night out partying, this fucker was gonna have to man up and get up. "Nick" I said into his ear, nothing "Nick wake up we gotta get out of the ship", no movement, I gave him a shove. "What the fuck?! I'm fucking tired" he snapped. "Well good morning to you too, as much as I'd like to let you go back to sleep, we gotta go" I replied. Someone has a serious attitude problem in the morning. "I wanna get some fucking sleep" he said closing his eyes. He really didn't leave me any choice. I grabbed his arm and tugged it. He opened his eyes, if looks could kill I'd be dead and six feet under. "How about you go take a quick shower it'll wake you up, at least just to get out of the ship then you can sleep on the bus" I suggested. He groaned and rolled his eyes at me "Fine" he said huskily. I pulled him up out of the bed. He took a look around the room as he ran his fingers through his tousled golden locks, "This room looks like shit, I need to pack this stuff up" he sighed. "Don't worry about it, I got this, just go shower " I replied as I picked up a t shirt and started folding it. Nick grabbed a towel and made his way to the shower. As I heard the water running, I picked up the room phone and made a call hoping this would help Nick's hungover self. I placed the suitcase on top of the bed and began organizing his mess. By the looks of his clothes, Nick wasn't a flashy guy at all quite the opposite really. Simple graphic tees, jeans , sweats, and the more dressier stuff from the theme nights. I don't mean to be nosy but shit I am folding his stuff aren't I. I heard a knock, I went to get the door and it was exactly what I had called for. I was placing it on the coffee table, "You didn't have to" Nick said. I turned around and found nick standing there with a towel wrapped around his waist, with his hair drenched and drops of water still dripping down his chest. I had to catch my breath for a second, damn Tessa was right , he is fucking gorgeous. "Nick you need to eat something or you're gonna feel worse" I replied. He grabbed a pair of sweats, boxer briefs and a white v neck and went back to the shower to change. Whoa baby, that was just too hot, enough to make the Kevin girl inside of me reconsider switching teams. I went back to folding, and was zipping up the suitcase as Nick stepped out of the bathroom dressed but still barefoot  "Your  sneakers and a pair of socks are there" I said as I pointed to them which were next to the couch. "Thanks" he mumbled. The coffee table was covered with a breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, fruits, and coffee which would hopefully fill up Nick and would leave him feeling much more energized. We heard the door knock once again "I'll get it, you eat" I pointed to him as I opened the door. "Wow you managed to get him up, you're good" Mike said to me giving me a high five " it wasn't too bad " I laughed "I'm sitting here you know" Nick said with a mouthful of fruit. "Yeah, eat up, were leaving in 10 minutes" he Mike said "Alright well my job here is done" I said as I walked out. I went to the coffee shop and got a cup of coffee and quickly went back to my room to get my stuff. By the time I made it to our hallway our Nicks room was open and a maid was already in there cleaning up. I got my things and went to Deck 3 where we would be debarking. "There you are, I was knocking on your door but no answer" Rochelle said as I approached her "I went to grab some coffee, I'm on 4 hours of sleep, thank god for the long ass flight back to LA"I replied "At what time does our flight leave?" Rochelle asked "I think it's at 1:15 so we have time to kill" I replied "So I heard you helped Sir-Drinks-alot get his ass up this morning" AJ said as Rochelle and I chucked "He had just gotten back to his room, he hasn't slept, as soon as he laid down he knocked out, I had to annoy him to get him to get up"I replied "That kid sleeps like a rock, it's such a fucking pain in the ass to wake him up" AJ said as we walked into the terminal.

The sun was bright, as we walked outside there were very few fans trying to get pictures of the guys. I had to hand it to them, they went above and beyond for all the fans who paid so much money to attend. I loaded my suitcase into the bus and made my way inside. The mood was pretty dead since no one really was able to get more than at least 10 hours in the past four days. I walked past Nick who was slouching against the window sleeping with a black hoodie covering half his face. I sat down, pulled out some headphones and waited until everyone boarded the bus so we could finally make it to the airport.

Miami international airport was chaotic even this early in the morning. I got off the bus and grabbed my bags and waited for Rochelle and AJ to get their things so we could check in. Brian and Leighanne came by to say their goodbyes as they went to check in, they were headed for Orlando for a few days with their friends. "So where is the wind taking you?" I asked Nick who stood next to me reading a text message "Tampa, gonna head out there for a few days then going back to LA to get the finishing touches ready for my album, what about you?" he asked "Going to California, got work to do" I replied. AJ and Rochelle finally came and we went to check in. We all went through security and boarded the air train to go to the other side of the terminal. I looked as we passed by the Tarmac , Nick put his arm around me , "I'm sorry" he said as he stuck out his bottom lip "What for?" I asked "for being such a douche this morning, hungover Nick isn't the nicest Nick" he said apologetically "It's fine don't worry, next time I'll kick your ass if you get all douche on me" I smiled, Nick let out a soft chuckle. "I definitely owe you one" he said as we got off the air train and walked to my gate. "My friend got to meet you in Key West, consider it even" I replied. We hung out in gate just remembering all the crazy things we encountered during the trip. When  our flight was called we were called to board first, "Well ladies, have a safe flight" AJ said. He went to hug and kiss Rochelle. "Thanks for coming on the trip babe, it wouldn't have been the same without you, take care of yourself and take care of my monkee" he said as he gave me a hug "Will do, take care of yourself too honey" I replied. "Come here" Nick said as he pulled me into his arms , he embraced me and rocked me side to side "Thanks for coming, and for being such an awesome friend" he said pulling back giving me his signature half smile even though we both knew he was feeling super shitty. "It was fun, thanks for having me...take care of yourself, drink alot of fluids" I replied "Ok mom" Nick said sarcastically . I lightly slapped his arm causing him to laugh " seriously though , go home get some rest, take a day or two off, you deserve it " Nick said giving me a wink "I will" I said. Rochelle turned to me "Ready to get out of here?" she asked "yeah, let's get go" I replied. Rochelle gave AJ another kiss as we walked to the ticket agent. I turned around and saw both Nick and AJ standing there, I offered a smile and a wave. We walked into the plane and took our seats. We soon flew into the skies, a five hour flight was exactly what i needed to get some rest and to convince myself that I was not developing a tiny crush on Nick Carter.

Holiday Reunions by ShortNchic23
Author's Notes:
I know it's been 2 years since the last update and I totally suck but I hope there's people still interested in reading this!
Much happened since the cruise. The following two weeks were filled with so much work that it kept me busy and helped fizzle out any romantic thoughts I was having of Nick. Sure he had charm and was handsome but I also had a job that needed to get done and that came first. I barely saw the boys other than when we had meetings regarding producers and writers for the upcoming album. While I was doing this, they were caught up in rehearsals for the New Years Eve performance with the New kids in the middle of Times Square. This was very important for both groups and everyone wanted this to be an epic way to jumpstart the NKOTBSB era.
I decided to spend the holidays in New York, Christmas with the family and New Year's Eve with the boys. Christmas came with tons of gifts and great times and now I was looking forward to an even better New Year's Eve. The boys and Jenn were in New York a few days prior to the performance for last minute rehearsals and press as well as to take some time to enjoy the magic the city has to offer during the holidays.
David had arranged a holiday dinner at Beauty and Essex with the label , management, and the boys. I was looking forward to spending some quality time with boys since these days it feels like we barely see eachother. I made my way to the restaurant and I found everyone already there sipping on their champagne and having a good time. "Hey you, what took so long?" A voice called behind me. I turned and saw Howie and Leigh with someone from their management. "Hey Howard, Hey Leigh" I said as I gave them hugs "sorry I'm late it just took me a while to decide what to wear" . " women" called out another voice, I looked to my right and glanced at Nick coming in our direction with two flutes filled with champagne. "Well hello to you too, Nick" I said as he handed me a flute. "You look amazing Alyssa, don't pay attention to this one" Leigh said as she nudged Nick arm. "Thanks Leigh so do you" I replied. "So how was Christmas?". "Great, spent it in Jersey with my family" Leigh replied as we made our way to the table to take our seats. The restaurant had set up the private room of the restaurant for the 25 person dinner David had set up. Leigh and Howie sat Infront of me while I sat between Nick and Brian. "I like to make a toast now that were all together tonight, wishing everyone a great holiday season and much success" David said as he took his flute "Cheers" everyone exclaimed. Glasses full of bubbly clinked. "So what have you been up to stranger" Nick said after taking a sip of his champagne "Working as always, got some new up and coming producers who are pretty excited to work with you guys" I replied "Sounds good, but this isn't the time to talk about work, it's the holiday season lets just enjoy this little break before we head into the crazy year that's ahead of us" Nick said as he raised his flute." That's true, cheers to that " I replied as we clinked our glasses once more "So how was your Christmas, kissed any boys under the mistle toe" he joked, I couldn't help but roll my eyes and laugh "My Christmas was great, spent it with the family in Long Island and no I didn't kiss anyone under the mistle toe, what are we 15?" I laughed as I looked at the menu. " Hey you're never too old to kiss under the mistle toe" he retorted " Really, so who were you smooching under the mistle toe this Christmas" I asked "Well..no one, but that's besides the point! " he tried to defend himself " point is that kissing under the mistle toe has no age limit". He made me laugh too much, I had to admit I definitely missed the banter. "Howie you guys should come over my apartment while you're all here" I offered "That would be pretty dope, you can count me in" AJ said as he munched on his appetizer. "How about you come over for a New Years Day dinner "I replied "That sounds good, I think we can do that" Brian said with his signature smile. So that was settled, I'd be hosting a Backstreet Dinner at my house. We enjoyed dinner and drinks and by the time it was 11 pm , the room started clearing up. I was still in the company of Leigh, Howie, and Nick. "So we should get into something tonight" Howie said as he looked at his phone. "We'll we can always go to a Hotel bar or we can go to where i used to bartend before I was working with universal, but it's nothing too fancy I must warn you" I responded looking at them waiting for a reaction. "Lets do it, lets go to your old bar" Nick smirked "Yea lets go" Howie replied "Alright, it's actually 2 blocks away so we can just walk over" I assured them.
We put our coats and walked over to my old bar, The Whiskey Ward. A quick 5 minute walk was all it took and there we were, upon arriving the staff recognized me. The place was packed but we managed to get seats at the bar. My old coworker, Jessica came over "Alyssa! I can't believe you're here, it's been so long how you been?" Jessica shrieked as she gave me a hug "You know just working as always, I actually want you to meet some friends of mine, this is Nick, Howie and his wife Leigh" I introduced as they shook hands. "Wait a minute, you guys are the Backstreet Boys right?" She questioned looking at them suspiciously "yea we are" Nick replied. Jessica gave me a wide smile "Seems like you've been doing something right Aly, well you guys feel free to get fucked up, it's on the house" Jessica offered "Aly why don't you get behind the bar like old times and make them some drinks, you were one of the best we had here". While all the bartenders were in skin tight jeans and black crop tops, I stood out like a sore thumb in my Burgandy dress with black pumps l "yeah, show us your skills" Leigh said "I wanna try your drinks" Howie said trying to encourage me to get behind the bar "fine! Just for a few drinks" I replied and walked behind the bar. "What can I get you guys?" I asked. They were looking at the menu trying to make up their minds "I'll have the LES sweet tea" Leigh said "I'll take the dark and stormy" Nick said as he kept skimming through the menu "I think I'm gonna have the Woodford reserve sidecar....interesting name" Howie replied. I started making the drinks and set them on the bar "So survey says.." I said as I waited for a reaction "This is really good, I'm gonna have to tip you" Nick replied as he Savored the taste "No tip needed" I joked. We had drinks until it was clear Howie needed to go to bed although Nick wasnt too far behind. We stood outside waiting for the car to come get them and take them to the hotel. Howie was constantly laughing while Nick on the other hand wouldn't stop singing. "Look at you giving the streets of New York a public concert" I joked. "I can give you a concert of you want" he winked. "Yay thanks" I answered sarcastically giving him a smile. A black escalade pulled up and the driver stepped out and opened the passenger door and Howie and Nick got in "Are you coming with us?" Leigh asked as she was about to get in the car "I'll just hail a cab, I don't live too far" I replied. "You can't leave me alone with these too drunks" she exclaimed as I laughed "Fine, Fine ill go with you to the hotel and put Nick to bed and then I'll go home, deal?" I offered. I hoped in the car and took a 15 minute drive to midtown. When we got to the hotel we took the elevator to the 15th floor which both Nick and Howie had rooms. Howie and Leigh walked to their door "Goodnight Nick, thanks Alyssa" Leigh said as she opened their door "Goodnight Alyssa!" Howie yelled causing Leigh to cover his mouth and push him into the room. Howie is way too funny when he's drunk. "Alright Mr. Carter where's your room?" I asked as I looked at Nick who was obviously out of it "Umm I don't really know, hold on" he said as he stopped and dug his hands in his pockets looking for his room key. "Here we go, room 1526" he said as I looked at the numbers as we walked down the hallway. We finally approached the room and I took the key and opened the door, it was a spacious room with a king size bed and a great view of Times Square. His room was surprisingly neat. "Alyssa..I'm not feeling too well" Nick said as he put his hand covering his mouth, this was followed by him running to the bathroom and throwing up in the toilet. I immediately took my coat off, threw it on the bed and went into the bathroom. Nick would stop throwing up and immediately begin again. I took off his blazer and just rubbed his back while he blew chunks. "Nick are you ok?" I asked as looked at him "well that was embarrassing"he replied still sitting on the floor "ehh it's no biggie we all go through that" I waved him off "How about you take a quick shower, it'll sober you up a bit and make you feel refreshed". "That wouldn't be a bad idea" he mumbled as I helped him get up. He had a few chunks on his shirt "here let me get that" I said as I began to unbutton his shirt, leaving him shirtless "I'll get this dry cleaned for you" I offered "thanks" he said giving me a shy smile. Nick proceeded to get a new change of clothes and a towel and went to shower while I called room service. This really does seem like a dejavu. I called roomservice and called for some reinforcements that can help ease the hangover Nick was definitely gonna feel tomorrow. I sat on the bed while I looked through my emails until a knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. In came a cart with water, coffee, soup, ginger ale, bread , crackers and Advil. Nick soon came out wearing basketball shorts and a tank top. " wow you really got all the reinforcements " he said as he sat on his bed "yes now eat some soup so you can take an Advil" I replied "Food is the last thing I want right now" he said as he looked at the soup in disgust "Nick quit being a baby, tomorrow is your performance and you have press and rehearsals in the morning, the last thing you want is to feel like shit" I warned, Nick let out a sigh "you're right, I'll eat it". Nick took a seat at his table and began eating his soup "Thank you Aly cat" he said as he looked at me "Aly cat? That's a new one" I chuckled "yes that's your new name, but seriously thank you for being here and helping me...again" he said as he played with his soup "you're welcome, it's no biggie now dig In". I grabbed my phone, "oh wow it's 3 in the morning" I said with a yawn. "You can stay here if you want" he offered "No it's ok Im not too far away, but I don't wanna leave until I know you're ok" I responded "Im a grown man Al, I'll be fine, thank you for watching out for me I appreciate it". "You sure?" I asked as I stood up and put on my coat. "Positive, I'm feeling better already. Have the driver take you home. Would you like me to walk you downstairs?" He offered " No it's ok I'll manage, you just get some rest, you got a long day ahead of you " I said as we walked to his door. He pulled me into a hug "Thank you Alyssa" Nick said as he gave a kiss on the cheek. I walked to the elevator and made my way through the lobby and into the car. Tonight was a long night and tomorrow should be memorable...
