The Price of Fear

On a daily basis we live in fear
Fear because we believe we are not safe
In our eyes,
We see everyone as an enemy
Someone that just wants to bring us down
Constantly we are looking over our shoulders
Watching, ready to attack
We've lowered ourselves
Man is supposed to evolve
Not grow more primitive
Family after family has to bury a loved one
All because of our invalid paranoia
Weapons grow stronger
As voices of reason grow weaker
We no longer think about the consequences
As long as we protect ourselves, nothing else matters
Not the well being of others
Nothing
Trust becomes scarce
Animosity becomes abundant
All because of our childish fears
We believe that our homes are not safe
That it's dangerous to walk down the street
Only because this is what we have learned
Through the media
And just pure ignorance
We've learned, or think we've learned,
That our purpose is self-gratification
We don't stop to think how we're affecting the world
The future
Never once do we realize that we are in control of history
We decide what comes next
We hold the power
Yet, we are still confined by fear
Something that the human nature as created
Though we've created it, we can't stop it
It spreads quickly, like a wild fire
It engulfs everything in its path
We all fall victim to these flames
Because we are all to blind to see
That in the end we are only hurting ourselves
As people, we must overcome our fears and stand strong
We must not let fear control us, we must control our fear!
That is my challenge to you
Can you live a life without fear?
Are you willing to take control of the world?
And make it a better place?
Or will you let yout fear consume you too?
