Chapter One

'But, but mommy I don't want to go to school. I want to stay here with you.' five year old Anita told her mom.

'Sweetie you have to go to school.'

'Why, it's not like I need to.'

Anita watched her mom take cookies out of the oven. Her mouth watered as she looked at the chewy chocolate chip cookies. Her mother smiled and gave one to her.

'Honey, you have to go to school so you can be something when you grow up.'

There was a knock at the door. Anita and her mom looked towards the door and smiled when they saw Brian standing there waving at them. Angela, Anita's mom, opened the door.

'Would you like some cookies Brian?'

He nodded his head happily and took a seat next to Anita. Angela set a plate of cookies and two glasses of milk by them.

'So mommy, can I be anything that I want to be?'

'Yes sweetie, anything that you put your mind to.'

'Then I want to be Brian's mommy.'

He looked over at her shocked then laughed.

'Baby doll, I think you got more chocolate on your face then in your mouth' He said as he whipped her cheeks.

Her mother watched and smiled thinking; I guess love does start at a young age. Brain finished whipping her cheeks.

'So Anita, why is it exactly that you want to be my mommy? I mean I already have one.'

'Because I love you.'

'Oh does that mean I should be your daddy?'

They both heard a loud deep laugh. Anita and Brian looked at each other then towards the door to the other room where her dad was coming through.

'So Anita, I hear you want to be Brian's mommy" he dad stated

'Yup.'

'Aww I knew someday it would happen.'

Anita gave Brian a puzzled look.

'What will happen daddy?'

'See Anita, the thing with the two of you, is that you are soul mates.'

'Soul mates?'

'What your daddy means Anita is that you and Brian are love bugs.'

Her mom said remembering a story she read about bugs in love to Anita.

Anita got a big smile on her face.

'Oh, we are love bugs!'

Brian still looked confused.

'Brian Anita is your girlfriend.' Her dad tried.

Now it was who Brian who had a big smile.

'Oh, Kevin has a girlfriend of his own and I wanted one and was trying to figure out how to get one.'

Brian then took her hand and they went out side to play.

'Brian I don't want to go to school. I'm scared.'

'Don't worry, I'll be there to take care of you and so will Kevin.'

Brian answered as he helped her onto a swing and they began to play as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Chapter Two

Anita sat on a swing in the playground. Brian stood behind her pushing. She giggled happily. Brian had been gone away on vacation for most of the summer and she had missed him. This year she was in fourth grade and he was in sixth.

'So sweetie, did you miss me that much this summer?'

'Yeah, I guess you could say I did'

She said turning her head to look at him. She then jumped off the swing and took his hand. They walked over to the sandbox and sat on the edge.

'Don't forget to meet me at our special tree so we can walk home together.' he said with a smile.

'I won't forget. Just you make sure that you are actually on time for once in your life'

'Excuse me but who is the one who always makes me wait at least half an hour before she is ready to go hang?' She looked at him innocently.

'I have no idea who you are talking about'

He smiled down at her.

'Go fig.'

She returned his smile and they talked until the bell rang starting school. They walked in together and then parted reminding each other to be at the tree.

Anita could hardly wait until school ended. She bounced up and down in her seat until the bell ending the day rang. She jumped out of her seat and ran to the tree. She looked around. Where was Brian? She wondered. And then he saw him, walking with some girl down the street holding hands.

She stormed after them.

'Brian!'

He stopped hearing her voice calling him. He looked into her face and saw fury in them.

'Anita, baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to forget you. By the was this is Carla.'

Anita eyed the girl who was grinning

'Oh Bri honey what a sweet little baby!'

Anita frowned at the girl.

'Excuse me? Baby?'

Carla just smiled and then shared a kiss with Brian. Anita felt her stomach turn. This is not the feeling she wanted to have. She wasn't supposed to be in love with her best friend but she wished she were the one kissing him instead. In anger Anita stormed off. Brian chased after her.

'Baby, what's wrong?'

'Sorry Brian but in case you didn't notice, I’m not a baby anymore.'

He was stunned. He had no idea what he had done wrong.

'I thought you had better taste in people but I guess I was wrong.'

Anger shot through Brian.

'Anita just go home! You're not wanted around when you are acting like a spoiled brat!'

Tears filled her eyes, which made Brian's heart melt. He couldn't believe it. He made her cry after he promised when she was four that he would never make her cry again. Anita turned on her heel and ran home.

Chapter Three

Anita lay in her bed crying. Her mom had come up to see what was wrong but Anita didn't want to talk. Finally she decided she had to go talk to Brian. She couldn't lose him. She got up, put her shoes on and grabbed her jacket. She ran down stairs.

'Bye mom I'll be back soon.'

'Ok sweetie, tell Brian and his family hi for me.'

Anita ran out the door and to Brian’s house. She was very nervous but knew she had to do it. She shouldn't have been so mean. She rang the doorbell and looked down as she waited for him to answer.

'Well, well if it isn't the little brat herself.'

Anita looked up into the hard green eyes of Clara.

'Wait Clara, I... I came by to apologize.'

'Save it for someone who cares. And let me give you a piece of advice sweet pea. Brian doesn't have any feelings for you. You mean nothing to him. He loves me.'

Anger flashed in Anita's eyes.

'Is it my fault Brian has no taste in women? I can't blame him for falling for a 25 cent hoe.'

'Anita!'

Brian came outside. He had heard everything said. He was furious with Clara. Anita bit her lip thinking Brian was mad at her. She was shocked when his arms slid around her.

'You little brat!'

Clara raised her hand to strike Anita but Brian stepped in between and got the slap.

'Oh sweetie'

Clara rushed fore ward but Anita pulled her back.

'Stay away from him!'

Clara hit Anita knocking her down. Brian rushed to her side and held her protecting her.

'I think it's time for you to leave Clara.'

'But Bri, it was her fault.'

'NOW!'

'Fine, I didn't like you that much anyway.'

And with that she stormed off. Brian sat down next to Anita.

'I'm sorry hun. I should have known you are my only baby.'

'Baby?'

Her heart was pounding. Was Brian suggesting something? Was she finally going to be his girl?

'Yeah, I am older then you.'

'Oh, right, baby.'

He then kissed her forehead and took her hand. Together they walked up to his bedroom.

'The Little Mermaid'

'I should have known.'

Brian got the movie for her and then joined her on the bed. He reached down removed their shoes and pulled her into his arms wrapping his arms around her. By the time Ariel was human, Anita slept soundly in his arms. He looked down at her and smiled, quietly turned the tv off, then slid them down so they were lying. He turned off the light and held her as they slept.

Chapter Four

Anita was now in sixth grade and Brian in eighth. Their friendship was as strong as ever. Anita still wanted more than anything to be Brian's girl but she never said a word.

Anita stood in the gym wearing shorts and a tank top. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Other girls were also in the gym bouncing around. She took a deep breath. Cheerleading tryouts. She was so nervous. Soon the coach came out and tryouts began.

Brian, sweaty and hot grabbed his bags and went to find Anita. Another football practice done, he thought to himself. Anita walked out of the gym.

'Anita! Wait up!'

'Eeewwww gross Brian! You smell.'

'Sweet"

'Glad you think so'

'So honey, did you make the cheerleading squad?'

'Yup'

Brian smiled and wrapped her in a tight hug. She wrinkled her nose.

'Brian please this is so gross.'

'I can't help it. My baby is going to be cheering for me.'

'Gee I'm so excited'

'Let's go celebrate. Pizza. My treat.'

'Pepperoni and Pineapple?'

'Of course. Wouldn't have it any other way.'

And with that he linked arms with her and they walked off.

At the pizza place the chose a booth in the back, ordered the pizza and leaned in to talk. A few minutes passed and Spencer walked over to them. He was on the football team with Brian.

'Hey Brian. Who's your pretty girlfriend?'

'Hey Spencer. This is Anita and she isn't my girlfriend and she is in sixth grade.'

He smiled at her. "Well a little young, but find me when you get to high school doll and we can hook up."

Brian frowned. Not in this lifetime he thought. Anita just flashed him her innocent smile and Spencer walked away with a wink. Soon their pizza arrived. Great I'm not hungry any more thanks to Spencer, he thought. He was only able to eat five slices and two pieces of pie.

'You are a pig!'

'Hello Anita. In case you forgot I am a growing boy. Give me credit here.'

'I did. I gave you credit for being a pig!'

'Just wait til we get home. You are so going to pay for that girl.'

'If you can catch me fatso!'

He grinned evilly. Minutes later they were home. Taking sudden surprise, Brian tackled her to the ground. As the went down he did a sort of turn so she wouldn't land hard on the ground. She landed more in his arms.

'Let go of me!'

'I told you I could catch you.'

He rolled over on her.

'You are fat get off before you squish me.'

'I forgot, you don't have any padding.'

'And what do you mean by that?'

'Well what can I say? If you had breasts you would be comfortable but you don't so oh well.'

'Excuse me but I do have breasts.'

'Well sorry if I forgot my magnifying glass.'

She frowned at him. He grinned down at her and nuzzled her nose then got up and pulled her with him.

'Let's go shorty. There are a million things we can be doing.'

She sighed but took his hand and followed him to his house.

Chapter Five

Brian and Anita lay side by side on his bed holding hands.

'Brian, do you realize I’m going to be starting Jr. High soon? What happens if I’m not cool enough to some people? What if they don't think I’m pretty or popular or worse? What if they think I’m a nerd?'

Brian just laughed and pulled her into his side.

'First of all I doubt that could ever happen, second I don't think you would allow that to happen.'

She rolled her eyes.

'Don't be mean.'

'I'm not being mean, I'm just being truthful.'

'You think you are so funny.'

'I don't think, I am.'

She smacked his arm playfully.

'You are so mean to me woman! But I love you more for it.'

He added quickly seeing her glare.

She sighed and kissed his cheek snuggling in. Sure he loved her, like a darn kid sister.

'You ok baby?'

'Yeah I’m fine.'

'Are you sure?'

'Yeah, just relieving my stress. Let's talk about your up-coming birthday, anything planed yet?'

'To begin with just a small party, but I’m not sure about the rest.'

She smiled at him wondering if they could send some special time together. She was in for a surprise.

'Happy birthday.. to you happy birthday to Brian...Happy birthday to you....

'Hurry, and blow them out!' Anita said excitedly. Brian was now turning fifteen and just starting High school.

Anita was proud of him, he had become very talented in a lot of different things, and through it all her feelings for him never seemed to fade. She still loved him as more then just a friend, which with the passing years became stronger. She never told him of course but so desperately wanted to be the girl on his arm.

'OK, Brian we know that you have other plans for tonight so we wont keep you long.' Brian's mother Mrs. Littrell said in a caring voice.

She thought it so funny seeing her baby wanting to become more 'independent,' it also touched her heart knowing he was still here. Thinking back to when he was just a baby and knowing that he had been pretty sick and seeing him now was miracle to her.

Anita then turned and looked at Brian.

'You're leaving...' Anita then gave him her signature angel face.

'Yeah baby girl, Emily and me are going out. She said she had a surprise for me.' Brian then grinned and wiggled his eyebrows evilly.

Anita had known that Brain and Emily were very close, what Brian didn't know was that it made her sick and she didn't want him with her. She wasn't his type. Now not saying Anita was perfect or anything...ok...maybe that's what Anita believed but come on, Emily was a cheep twenty-five cent ho!

'But Bri, I was hoping to spend your birthday together, we always do.' Anita said holding his hand and tracing the lines in the palm of his hand.

'I promise sweet face, I am all yours tomorrow!'

Brian then smiled at her and kissed her cheek tenderly. Anita sighed and smiled back up to him.

'Ok, I'll let you go tonight, but tomorrow buster your all mine!'

I wish, Anita said to her self wanting nothing more then to hold Brian at night and kiss his sweet lips.

Brain then had a piece of cake and left in a car with his girlfriend and a few other people Anita didn't like either.

'Oh Brian...will you ever love me as more then just your friend...'

Anita then went out to the tree house that Brian and Kevin use to hang out in and she got to join and a few occasions. She went right to the corner and laid her head down on the sleeping bag she had placed in there a while ago; Anita sat there thinking of Brian and her together.

Chapter Six

Anita woke up in someone's arms. Turning her body so she was facing the person she then came face to face with a sleeping Brian. He only slept with her when something bad happens. 'Oh no what happened now.’? Anita thought as she stared at him.

Anita was then placed into a dream like state as she watched Brian's movements as he slept. The way his mouth was slightly open and the rhythmic sound of his breathing and the gentle and safe felling his arms made her feel. Anita loved watching him, she only wished he'd sleep with her other then being in pain over another woman.

Anita couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like if she kissed him. She then snuggled closer to his body, which made Brian stir.

'Oh good morning angel' Brian said and kissed her forehead sweetly.

'Right good morning is all you have to say to me, come on spill the goods sista!' Anita said with a smirk, whenever she called him that he always got the cutest look on him.

'Sista! Excuse me but I believe I don't have boobs!'

Brian said and then started tickling her. She giggled.

"Brian stop! No, ok sorry, stop!'

Anita and Brian had wiggled around so much from the tickle session that Brian ended up laying on top of her.

Out of breath and giggling a little Anita then realized the position she was in with Brian and felt as if she was going to faint right there.

'Anita, last night I wish I had spent it with you; Emily was nothing but a cheep ass ho! Please remind me the next time a chick comes by me to think with my brain not my dick!'

Anita giggled a little by Brian's use of words and then caressed his check.

'You got it Bri.'

'That's my baby girl always helping her man out!' Brian then gave her a peck on the lips and rolled off her and stood on the floor.

'Lets go out to breakfast today, my treat!' Brian then smiled and held out his hand.

Anita couldn't comprehend anything; he had kissed her...BRIAN KISSED HER! Anita then looked at him and was taken back to earth.

'Umm...sure B, just let me shower and change.'

'You got it baby doll' Brian then hugged her and left the room, leaving a loved struck girl behind.'

'Oh Brian....mmmmmm' Anita smirked and walked into the bathroom.

Chapter Seven

That day Anita couldn't help but fell a little uneasy around Brian. I mean he had kissed her and it.... well, wasn't the first time they shared a little peck but it meant more to her knowing that he was a free man now. Maybe that was his way of saying her man.

Anita then started walking aimlessly when she felt Brian's arms go around her waist.

'Baby, is something wrong?'

'Humm.... Oh no nothing's wrong having a wonderful time. What else do you wanna do?' Anita said leaning closer to Brian and intertwining her fingers with his.

'Umm...Let's go ride the Ferris wheel.'

'But, Bri we aren't anywhere near one!' Anita said turning her body in his arms and looking at him.

Not knowing it Anita had subconsciously rubbed Brian's member with her butt and made him wake, and Brian couldn't help but want to suddenly kiss Anita's lips that shined in the sunlight.

'I know, but it’s only like thirty mins away from here.' Brian said smiling at her trying to hide his need to kiss her hard!

'OK, but your paying for the bus ride!' Anita said grinning at him like when she was four.

Letting out a soft chuckle Brian then held her hand.

'OK baby.'

While walking to the bus stop Anita couldn't help but look down periodically and see her small hand laced in Brian's.

'Bri, I love you!' Anita said, meaning more then the other times she told him.

'I love you too baby' Brian said with a grin as they boarded the bus.

During the ride to the fair Brian and Anita sat close and held each other’s hand. To on onlookers you'd believe they were a couple. Anita sat there and traced Brian's palm like always and then looked up at him. Brian was smiling down at her but this time there was a different twinkle in his eyes.

'So lil one, excited bout going on the Ferris wheel?'

'Umm...y...yes, sure, of course'

Brian chuckled at her; he knew that she didn't like being far off the ground, neither did he but for the sake of being macho he wasn't about to tell her.

Brian then kissed Anita's forehead. Ten minutes later they were at the fair and were taken away by colors, laughter, music, and lights.

Once that was said a handful of confetti was thrown into Brian and Anita's face as they walked over the bridge to the fair.

'OK, that was scary.' Anita said taking out the glittering pieces of paper in her hair and rolling her eyes.

'Yes, but let’s just be thankful that it wasn't a clown.'

Brian said, giving her a sly grin.

'OH YOU BUTTHEAD! I HATE CLOWNS!'

Anita then punched him on the arm expecting it to hurt and walked off pouting.

Brian went into a fit of laughter as he ran up to Anita and wrapped his arms around her waist.

'Come on cutie, you know I'd never let one come to close to you.'

Brian then buried his face in the nap of Anita's neck and started tickling her sides.

Anita couldn't help but giggle a little as she tried to wiggle free from his grasp.

'B, get off.. you're such a little punk!'

Brian chuckled at her comment and turned her to face him.

' I love you too'

Anita glared at him and then stuck her tongue out at him. Brian then grabbed it as Anita's eyes went big and she squirmed and then screamed.

'Oh yeah, bout that little punk thing...IM NOT LITTLE!'

Brian then let go and put her over his shoulder and walked her to the biggest roller costar in the whole park!

'BRIAN THOMAS LITTRELL, IF YOU DON'T PUT ME DOWN THIS SECOND I AM SO GONNA SCREAM UNTIL YOUR EARDRUMS BREAK SO YOU'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO HEAR A THING AS LONG AS YOU LIVE THEN I’M GOING TO BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR BODY!'

'OK, fine!' Brian then placed her down at the starting of the line.

When Anita saw this she went as white as a ghost.

'Ok, come on....'

The carnie guy took her and lead her to the next seat and strapped her in. Brian came in next to her and then with in two mins the ride started and Anita's screams could be heard all the way across the country.

'WHOO HOO! Now that was a cool ride!'

Brian said as he swung his arm over Anita's shoulders. Anita had now gotten a grayish rubbery look to her face as she glared at Brian. Just as she was going to yell at him she was over come with a nauseated felling and ran to the bushes off to the side.

'Well, at lest we know you had a well balanced breakfast today.'

Brian said trying his hardest not to fall to the ground laughing. In truth he was scared as well but after the second loop he had gotten into a peaceful state of mind and was able to get thought it.

'Brian, I HATE U!'

Anita then wipped her mouth and ran for the nearest bathroom.

'I didn't think that would happen...'

Brian grinned as he waited for her outside the bathroom.

'ASSHOLE!' Anita shouted back and then went to clean herself up. Telling herself never to trust Brian again.

'Anita come on the Ferris wheel is now boarding people!'

Brian shouted to her as he pulled on her arm.

'Wait, no, I don't think so, no more rides that involve me having to throw up my stomach'

Anita said trying to pull free. She had finally forgiving Brian after he had apologized to her profusely.

'Oh, don't be a big baby, you just have to sit there while it goes around in a circle.'

Brian said giving the man his tickets and pulling at Anita's arm who now had her foot permanently dug into the ground.

'No, NO AND NO! I wont I cant, its not going to happen, wrong number please don't call again!'

Anita said with fire in her eyes as she was then pulled from her spot by a ruff jerk on her arm by Brian.

'NOW LETS GO!'

He then dragged her to the seat and pushed her down as the other man placed the bar over them. Anita quickly gripped the bar, her knuckles started turning white from the force she was holding onto it with. Brian looked at her and grinned as he reached for her hand and brought it to his lips.

'Sweetheart, I promise nothing is going to happen to you. I wouldn't take you on a ride that could be anything but safe for you.

Anita smiled back at him and was almost calm when suddenly the ride gave a sudden jump as it went up and her heart beat once again picked up and she started panicking.

'Baby, baby, calm yourself, take a deep breath, look nothing to fear, I am right here.'

Brian then scooted closer to her and placed his arm over her shoulder.

Anita then went quite as she felt Brian's arm around her and his body heat next to her. She then looked at him and he once again kissed her hand. She never thought she could love him anymore till that moment. Anita then felt herself move closer to Brian and each other's lips were suddenly pulled together by a magnetic force till suddenly a ruff jerk pulled them both form this dream world.

'Everyone stay calm and don't move the ride is stuck! We have to fix it!' Said one of the carnie guys. Anita went into shock again and started screaming.

'I'M GONNA DIE, HERE ON THIS PIECE OF SHIT RIDE.... OMG I'M GONNA DIE A VIRGIN ALONE WITH MY ASSHOLE OF A BOYFRIEND!'

Brian was trying to calm her till she said that word.

'Excuse me.... boyfriend!?'

Anita then turned and looked at him with a flushed face from screaming and felt herself become embarrassed.

'Umm...yes, you're a boy and you are my friend...or now thinking bout it ex best friend sounds a little better!'

Anita then huffed as her face went into cold expression.

'Maybe, ex best friend is something to look into and more into your boyfriend for real.'

Brian said looking at her with serious eyes as he once again brought her hand to his lips kissing it so gently and never letting his eyes leave hers.

'What...huh? Brian what are you saying...'

Anita could feel herself become hot...was it getting warmer on this ride...did someone forget to tell her that all the oxygen in the world was taken.... why did her tummy keep on doing loop de loops...and that look Brian had was he feeling ok?

'I think what I am saying Anita is simply that right now all I wanna do is kiss you.'

'I might be bad at it.' Anita said with dazed eyes.

'You could never be bad at something....'

Brian then leaned over and kissed her lips softly. Once they pulled away Anita was breathless and wishing for more. Brian had never known she was so sweet.

'Anita.... can I kiss you again.'

Anita looked up at him her brown eyes huge and full of lust. She then nodded and this time Brian let his tongue outline her full lips and then she slowly opened her mouth for him to taste a little more of the heaven she had. Just as they pulled away fireworks went off and Anita gave Brian another kiss and settled perfectly in his arms.

'Brian.'

'MMM'

Brian said sweetly as his fingers ran through Anita's hair.

'Give me your hand please'

Brian then held out his hand and Anita out lined his palm only this time she drew a heart with their initials. Brian smiled at the soft touch she had and held her titer.

'Anita, I love you.'

'I love you too'

And two hours later and three more make out sessions they got off that ride. And it for ever was Anita's favorite ride.

Anita was now entering high school and felt nothing but nervous. Brian was a junior and he told her she had nothing to worry bout but she couldn't help but think something bad was going to happen.

Through the last two years Brian and she had never officially became boyfriend and girlfriend but they did their share of flirting and giving each other little kisses. Most of the people who knew them assumed they were going out and it was nothing new.

But then there was the other half who knew better and wanted to get some of that action. Anita had become a very beautiful young lady. Her black hair had grown long and had a slight wave in it. Her eyes were huge and full and then the rest of her had filled out rather nicely as most of the guys told Brian. He of course snubbed it off and told them to stop looking but he had to admit Anita was a knock out.

And of course Anita was completely in love with Brian. He had become so handsome over the years. His strawberry blond hair had become light from the summer and his blue eyes were hypnotizing. All the girls at Kentucky high went weak knee whenever they looked at him. Boyfriends of girls couldn't help but get a little over protective of their girls. But Brian never really noticed.

He was happy being single. Also he was just getting into a band. Or at least he was hoping it all would work out that way. His parents had helped him work on his passion of music and even helped him land a deal in New York which were he was almost all summer. So seeing Anita in her tanned skin and short skirts was a big surprise.

'OK Brian, I know that being the first day and me being a fresh I am allowed to be a loser and not know where to go but truthfully is it that hard?'

Anita looked panicked in the seat next to Brian. Taking a quick glance at her before turning the corner he started chuckling and then reach over and kissed her hand.

'Baby, trust me its going to be ok, everyone has first time jitters. It's only natural. And its not that bad.'

Anita smiled at him and traced his hand, it always made her calm. They then arrived at the school and Brian gave her a quick peck.

'Remember, nothing to be afraid of and I will see you after school!'

'OK Rok.'

She said using the part of the nickname she made up for him since he had grown a love for basketball.

Anita could feel the butterflies working over time but knowing that Brian was there for her she felt a little better. They both got out of the car and walked their separate ways to the new place Anita was sure she was gonna call 'hell'!

During the day Anita slowly felt more comfortable and surprisingly enough had three date offers. Giggling as she walked to Brian's car she saw him making out with a girl.

'BRIAN!' Anita said to break the two apart.

'Oh, hey Anita this is Summer, we have Chemistry together.

'Well, its that nice of you two. Taking class to new levels I see.'

Anita's comment made Summer blush and Brian gave Anita a look.

'Hey, don't go getting your panties in a bind you two I was only joking swapping spit isn't abnormal for two teenagers at the prime of their sexual maturity to do!'

Anita had to hold herself back from laughing at the two of them.

'Now Brian, I have a few guys I need to call so can you please take me home and continue this sexpade later!'

Anita then jumped into the car and slammed the door. Brian just stood there dumbfounded. A few guys! He then jumped into his car as well completely forgetting bout Summer.

'A FEW GUYS!'

Anita started giggling as Brian speed out of the parking lot.

When Brian came home from another meeting with his agent Brian caught Anita on the phone and heard the last part of the conversation.

'NO, you so didn't with Thomas.' Anita was on the phone with one of her friends who was gushing bout her date last night. Anita couldn't believe it she was now the only virgin in her group of friends. Not even any of the cheerleaders were virgins. Anita felt like a complete loser. And now to make matters even worse Spencer, who was one of the quarterbacks of the football team, asked her out and she could only think of two things he had in mind and none of them consisted of a nice peck on the cheek and a romantic walk on the beach.

'So are you two gonna go out for real now?'

'Well, I dunno.... there are just so many guys who can settle on just one!'

Anita was surprised at her friends comment. She always believed in one-man relationships if it ever got serious.

'Anita, I gotta go, Erik is here... he's got a truck, can you imagine all the fun!'

Anita signed and then hung up. What was she going to do? She had to find someone to help her with this problem.

'HOW IS A GIRL ABLE TO BE GOOD ENOUGH IN THE SACK IF SHE'S NEVER DONE IT BEFORE!'

'Done what?'

Brian knew what she was talking bout he had gotten the end of her conversation and was kinda surprised it had come to this. Sure she was in high school but thinking bout sex already.... damn!

Anita jumped from the surprise of Brian's voice.

'Umm.. well.. you see...I...'

Anita didn't know if she could tell Brian. Sure he was her best friend and out of everyone she knew he would understand the most. But this was just so much harder to talk about. It made her squirm to even think about it. Its not like she could just go, 'well I need to have sex wanna be the guy I do it with?'

'Anita, its me, Brian. You can tell me anything.'

He wanted to see if she trusted him enough to tell him her biggest problems. He kept his face serious and looked into her eyes. His heart was pounding. If she did tell him what would he do?

Anita thought bout this and then realized that maybe asking Brian wouldn't be that bad. I mean he wasn't a stranger. And she felt comfortable around him.

'Brian....would you...would...'

'Anita just tell me!'

'Would you have sex with me!'

Brian was stunned at her answer. He was a virgin himself and he had always believed in making love with someone he had feelings for. And lately his feelings for Anita had taken a huge change.

'Well.. I...why?'

'You see, Spencer asked me out and I know and you know that he is very experienced. And since I'M not I don't want to be a disappointment to him. So I was thinking that you being my best best BEST friend in the whole wide world and love me forever and ever could help me out.. please!!!!!!!' Anita looked at him her brown eyes pleading with him.

'Anita...I think...I need to think bout this.'

Brian then got up and went home. He suddenly had some feelings he had to sort out. Was he falling for his best friend? What was he going to do? This was Anita, his BEST friend! He sat down and sighed. He thought for a while and knew what he was going to do.

Anita was freaking she had canceled her date with Spencer and said she wasn't feeling good, he told her it was ok and they could go out when she felt better. Well that just happened to be for tomorrow night, and she still had the tattoo V stuck on her forehead.

Just as she felt her life was going to end the phone rang.

'Hello?' Anita said in a snotty tone.

'Hey, baby I have something for you can you come over?'

'Umm.. I dunno I'm kind of in the middle of a break down here.'

'Anita, come on I promise you it's worth it.'

'Fine. I guess. It's not like you give me much choice here.'

Anita was too tired and to strung out to fight with Brian.

'I'll be there in ten.'

'OK sweet pea, I'll be waiting.'

Anita then put on her shoes and walked out the door. As she got there a soft melody was floating in her ears.

Anita could feel tears sting her eyes. What was Brian up to? She then walked through the front door and there was a path of fresh rose petals and candles. She slipped off her shoes and looked around. On the table next to the door was a note.

As Anita got closer the song became louder and her heart started pounding more and more.

Anita then walked out to the back and there were candles everywhere. And then right in the middle of it with the ocean to the front and stars to the skies was a blanket. Anita cautiously walked to it and again was another note.

I will love you always Anita, You'll always be my sweet baby, I will give you a gift as you give one back to me Stay tonight in my arms I'll forever hold you As you be my baby my one and only.

Tears now fell from her eyes. Brian had done all this for her. She then closed her eyes as two arms came and wrapped around her waist and his sweet voice sang the song to her.

Once the song was over Anita turned and looked into Brian's eyes.

'How...why....'

Brian grinned and nuzzled her nose.

'People do crazy things when they fall in love.'

Her mouth dropped open.

'You...you're in love with me!'

He kissed Anita softly and stroked her hair Brian smiled.

'Baby, I've always been in love with you and nothing will change that, we are forever tied together. And you need me now and I am here for you always. And I know I want this just as much,'

Anita cried again and then kissed Brian deeply. She couldn't believe all that was happening. She had never in her life felt this much love.

Brian then lowered her to the blanket and slowly started to remove her clothing. Brian then pulled back and gazed at her beautiful body.

'Baby, you’re amazing!'

Brian then kissed her again and tried to help her relax so it wouldn't be so scary. He removed his clothing and lay next to her pulling a blanket over them seeing her shivering. He rubbed the small of her back. He kissed the side of her neck waiting until she was ready for him. He didn't want to push her. He gazed deep into her eyes, and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. He moved over her and then slowly, he entered her. Anita let out a soft sigh. Tears feel her eyes from the pain but also the slight mix of pleasure.

'Are.. you ...ok?'

She nodded.

'Just go slow.'

Brian nodded and kissed her lips. He held her close as he continued to make a sweet gentle love to her. It was soft and beautiful. Anita felt as if they were the only two in the world. They were all that mattered. His kisses were like butterflies dancing along her lips. His breath was warm on her cheek. She never in her life felt love like this and didn't think she ever would.

Anita and Brian reached their peaks. Anita was over come with colors and sounds. She was taken to a wild world of ecstasy. Brian was about to roll of her until Anita stopped him.

'No! Not yet.. please, just stay with me.'

Brian looked her and felt himself fall more in love with her. He was sad thinking that in a day or two, she would be with Spencer, she wouldn't be his. But he had possessed her and it was worth more than anything in the world. He prayed someday she would be his forever.

The two finally retreated to Brian's bedroom were they became entangled in each other's bodies. She lay happily snuggled deep into his arms and whispered she loved him. With a soft smile, he smoothed her cheek and her eyes fluttered lightly and closed. Brain didn't sleep a wink that night. He could only watch Anita as she slept.

'Your always my baby.'

He then kissed her lips and pulled her closer to him reliving the moment when he held heaven in his arms.

Anita was now a senior in high school and Brian was a part of the band called the Backstreet Boys, which were very popular among her and her friends. While Anita still was in love with Brian she had always kept it a secret. The night she and Brian made love had forever been engraved on her heart and mind. She had had boyfriends through the years and Brian had had his share of girlfriends. But neither of them had found a keeper.

'Ok, remember you plane takes off at ten so you have to be at the airport two hours early!'

'Ok, I got it! Brian really, you have to stop worrying. I'm not a baby anymore.'

Anita was going to spend her spring break with the guys. She had done it a few times before and was looking forward to it again this time.

'Right, see you tomorrow dork!'

'Yep, butthead!'

The next day Anita was on the plane and ready to see her guys as she called them. She remembered last year, during the time she had been involved with Thomas, but now that she was no longer in a relationship Anita was fired and ready to meet men. Twelve hours later Anita landed in New York and was fill with anticipation.

'Yo, NITA'S!'

One of the boys body guards yelled to her. Anita turned and looked at him her eyes instantly lighting up. His name was Robert and he was a very close friend. She then walked over to him and gave him a hug.

'So where are the guys?'

'In the studio like always...I swear give them anytime off and they still find a way to work.'

'Well, no one becomes successful sitting on their butts!'

Anita said with a giggle as she got into the rest car. First they stopped off at the 'Four Season' and Anita got organized and took a shower to remove post journey glow (Authors note: horses sweat, men perspire, women glow, so sue me, it's a cheerleading thing)

Anita walked into the studio just as Brian was going into the booth to sing. Nick noticed her and walked over to say hi.

'Hey chica!'

'Nickers!'

They gave each other a huge hug and when Anita pulled away a flicker in Nick’s eyes suddenly caught her. He seemed different to her. Her eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

'So when did you get in?'

'What.. Oh, bout ten minutes ago.'

Anita felt sorta foolish, here she was acting like a little baby who had never seen a guy before in her life. And come on this was Nick, Hell-o he has known her since she was 14. He even was there for her awkward braces and when she was freaking cuz she thought she was fat. They went through a lot together. Nothing to worry about.

'How was the flight?

'It was good.'

Nick chuckled and then the two of them went over to the couch in the room and started to catch up on old times. They both found that there was a lot more in common between each other then they ever knew. Brian then came out and saw them and quickly smiled and walked over to them.

'THERE'S MY BABY GIRL!' Anita turned and looked at Brian her eyes instantly lighting up.

'B-ROK!'

They gave each other a huge hug Brian lifted Anita off the ground and spun her around as she giggled.

'Brian, put me down...I can't breath!'

Anita laughed out in pure happiness.

'Yeah B, don't go scaring her away I think the rest of the fellas wanna see her to you know!'

Nick said playfully as he smiled at Anita.

'Scare my baby Anita away. Never! Couldn't happen even if I wanted it to!'

'Hey! Wanted it to!'

Anita then started to pout and Brain couldn't help but chuckle at her face. So grown up yet so full of innocence, he thought.

'Cutie! You know I'd never wish you to be away!'

Brian then put his arm over her shoulder and walked her over to the others. Nick the whole time couldn't help but feel memorized by Anita. Something had changed...something was different, he didn't quite know what yet. But one thing was for sure; he didn't want to let Anita out of his sight!

So far the boys and Anita had had a blast together. They took her everywhere and bought her anything and everything. She felt like a little princess with her knights and shining men to help her. But also during the two days Anita had gotten a lot closer to Nick, he was always asking her to do something with her and she didn't know why but whenever she was near him or thought of him butterflies would form in her tummy.

'Hey Anita.... I have something to ask you.'

Nick and she had been out playing basketball...or at least trying he wasn't making it very easy with him always grabbing her and not the ball. Not that she could honestly say she hated it.

'OK, shoot Nick!' Anita then went and grabbed her water and took a sip.

'I was wondering if you had any plans for tonight.

Nick couldn't believe how nervous he was. It was like being 12 all over again.

'Nope, nothing going on with this gal. Why?'

Anita took another long sip and then toweled herself off. Nick watched this and couldn't help but feel a little excited. Anita let the towel brush over her neck and then to her chest she was only wearing a sports bra and shorts which in all made her even sexier to look at. Nick licked his lips and then swallowed it getting hotter outside...man he was thirsty.

'Yo! Nickers! What's up?' Anita waved her hand in front of his face trying to get is attention.

'Oh, right, umm. Well I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me tonight?'

Nick could feel his face get red and his knees start to buckle. What was she doing to him?

Anita smiled as she heard his question he was so cute. Just like a little boy in school. How could anyone say no.

'I'd love to!'

Nick looked up and saw her smiling and couldn't help but engulf her into a huge hug. Anita laughed as he placed her down on the ground and then looking up into his eyes they were both frozen. Memorized by the others stare. And then almost like magnets their lips found the others. Nick let his tongue dance on her lips and then Anita opened her mouth eagerly as their tongues danced together. Then pulling apart breathless and still entangled in each other’s arms they walked back to the hotel hand in hand.

Anita was running around her room franticly as she got out of the shower. She had her hair up in curlers and was now picking out what to wear

'Ok, red one...black one. or white one.. or why not go naked!'

Anita said to herself feeling completely nervous. Then someone knocked on the door.

'Shit, that cant be him I'm not ready!'

Anita ran to the door in her bathrobe and was completely surprised to see Brian standing there.

'Bri, what are you doing here I thought you and Kevin were going out.'

'Well...sorry for messing up your plans I thought you and I could hang out together. Maybe rent a movie, order a bite to eat?'

Brian kinda felt hurt that she wasn't more excited he was there. But figured it wasn't anything personal.

'Sorry B, I can't I have a date!' Anita beamed at him.

'A date with who!'

Brian couldn't believe this she was here only for two days and was going out with some...some prick!

'Nick...he asked me today when we were playing basketball'

Anita said with a dreamy look as she replayed the kiss in her mind.

Brian kinda felt a little more at ease.

'Oh, Nick...so in that case can I join you?'

Anita was shocked! He was just inviting his ass with them!

'Umm.. NO! Hello! Last I checked he only asked me, sorry!'

Anita didn't mean to sound rude but since she'd been there he'd been really annoying. Acting like she was glass and would break. It was just getting to be too much.

Brian felt heartbroken. She never said things like that to him.

'Oh...well.... then in that case I guess I will just be leaving.'

Brian turned on his heal with his head down.

'No wait, I need you to help me with something.'

Brain turned and looked at her.

'Ok, shoot!'

Anita then grabbed his hand and led him to her bed where her clothing was.

'I don't know what to wear! Can you help me?'

Brain looked at the choices.

'Ok, here I will sort of model them for you.'

Anita then held up the black one. It was a two-piece halter and had a knee length skirt that was cut diagonal.

'Well?'

Brian looked at the outfit and pictured it on her. And then saw Nick.

'Nope, too slutty.'

Anita was shocked.

'Ok...this one?'

She then held up the red thin strapped shirt with a short flowing skirt.

'Yes, No?'

Brian once again pictured it on her and shook his head.

Anita was becoming inpatient.

'OK, One more!'

She then held out the white stapless dress.

'What the hell do you call that!'

'A dress!'

'Says who!'

'Calvin Klein'

'It looks like underwear! I think we can find something way better!'

'Ok, what are we characters from Clueless!' Anita said as she followed him to her closest.

Brian then went through her many outfits and suddenly realized nothing was expectable.

'Damn woman, what you wear out in public, nothing!'

Anita gave Brian a look and slapped him on the arm.

'Excuse me but it never seemed to be a problem before!'

Anita then looked at Brian and realized what was going on.

'You hate the fact that Nick is taking me out don't you!'

'Don't be ridiculous, he's like my brother!'

Brian then busied himself with finding something for Anita.

'Ahah! I found it, the perfect outfit for an evening of two young adults...alone...in a town...by themselves.... on a rather hot evening....'

Brian tailed off as he pulled the outfit out. It was a pair of baggy blue jeans Anita only wore when she was just lounging. And a turtleneck and a sweater.

'There, now you know you wont have any problems tonight.'

'Problems.... try heat stroke and fashion don't!'

Anita couldn't believe Brian was doing this to her. Was he mental!

'Brian, come on, I'm not 16 anymore!'

'So! I'm just saying that this outfit shows that you aren't expecting anything more then a nice dinner and maybe a dance or two.'

'More like I got dressed in the dark and have to be blind to go out looking like that!'

Brian was getting frustrated, as was Anita. He wasn't worried too much about Anita it was what Nick would do once he saw her.

'AHHH! BRIAN! YOU’RE NO HELP TO ME! I NEED...AJ!'

'ARE YOU CRAZY! AJ WOULD MAKE YOU GO OUT NAKED! I DON'T THINK SO!'

'WELL, YOU’RE BEING AN OLD ASSHOLE WHO I REALLY WANNA SLAP RIGHT NOW!'

'ANITA VERONICA CATALISIA ROMERO, YOU ARE BEING UNREASONABLE!'

'BRIAN THOMAS LITTRELL! YOUR BEING STUPID AND A PAIN IN MY ASS!'

Their yelling could be heard all the way down the hall. Just as they were getting into the heat of the argument a knock came to the door!

'Damn! That's probably him and I'm not even ready! Guess I'll just have to go in this!'

Anita then sashayed to the door in her silk bathrobe.

'WHY YOU LITTLE BUTT!'

Brian then went after her and was going to tell Nick to go away she wasn't going out tonight till he saw who was at the door.

'OK, ok, what the hell is going on in here?'

'AJ, you have to help me Brian has going insane and is making me wear ugly people clothing.'

AJ took in a breath and looked at Brian in shock.

'BRIAN! I never thought you'd be the one with no brain. Can you imagine? Anita, in ugly people clothes? It's just not happening'

Anita went close to AJ as her shield as he told Brian off.

'So can you help me?'

Anita gave him her famous puppy face.

'Of course but first I have a surprise for you.'

Anita's face lit up.

'You do, you do!'

AJ nodded as he went back into the hall.

'Guess who came to see you!'

AJ then stepped aside as his girlfriend came in.

'OMG! Rachel!' Anita ran and the two girls squealed in joy.

'ANITA! Its been way to long!'

'Well duh! Working to hard at school I guess.'

The girls both laughed. The only thing hard bout school was what guy to have as your study partner.

'This is so amazing, now I have two amazing people to help me get ready for night.'

'Oh, that reminds me, I saw this in Pairs last week and knew it was something you needed.'

Rachel then went back into the hall and brought in a bag. Anita smiled and took the bag. AJ then wrapped his arms around Rachel's waist as they watched their friends face in excitement.

'OMG!'

Anita screamed as she pulled out the items. It was a two-piece outfit. The top was a black bra with black lace over it. And the skirt was a micro mini of black leather.

'Who loves Anita.. you two you two!'

Anita then gave them both a kiss and a hug and went to put it on. Ignoring Brian's shocked face.

'Umm.... B, if your mouth drops any lower you might not be able to close it again.' Rachel said as she gave AJ a quick kiss.

'How could you...why did you...ARE YOU TWO CRAZY!'

AJ looked at Brian.

'I thought it was sexy.'

'Of course you did you pig! But that's my baby! And I don't tend to dress my girls as a slut!'

'Excuse me! But one my baby doesn't dress like a slut and two neither is Anita!'

Rachel couldn't believe Brian said that. But before another word was said Anita came striding in.

'Well...what you think!'

She then turned and let them all see her. The tight forming outfit accentuated her hair hung in a beauty of black waves as her perfect body.

'NOPE, GO BACK AND PUT THE OTHER OUTFIT ON!'

'ARE YOU DUMB! I'm not going as an old lady tonight!'

Anita then stuck her tongue out at Brian and gave Rachel and AJ another hug just as the door was knocked on again.

'IT’S HIM IT’S HIM!'

Anita then danced to the door and was stunned to silence as she saw Nick standing there. He was in tight black slacks and a nice form fitting green polo shirt. His hair was spiked and he smelled so good, she wanted to jump him right then and there. Wouldn't Brian like that!

'Hi baby, you ready?'

Anita nodded and said good-bye to everyone. But gave Brian a glare.

Nick and Anita then went hand and hand to the elevator.

'Damn, Anita you are hot!'

Anita blushed as Nick pulled her to him and kissed her sweetly.

'You don't look half bad yourself!'

The two kissed again and then got out and walked to the restaurant. Eating and drinking and kissing each other randomly. It was a wonderful dinner and the two couldn't have been happier.

After they went for a long walk in the park talking and getting to really know each other. It was amazing to believe they had a lot more in common then they thought.

'Anita...I don't know if this is the right time to tell you but...I think I'm falling for you'

Anita gazed up into his eyes.

'Does that mean that this would be a bad time to tell you that I am falling for you?'

He grinned down at her and pulled her close.

'This is not a bad time at all.'

They shared a passionate kiss then held each other and gazed at the stars.

'Anita, do you think Brian will mind?'

'Why should he?'

'Well, we all know he cares a great deal for you, he loves you with his whole heart and soul.'

'Yeah, but I'm just like a sister to him is all. Don't worry.'

Nick kept her close to his side. Brian was like a brother to him but he wasn't sure how he would react.

Chapter Sixteen

Brian paced back and forth. It was getting close to midnight and Nick and Anita were still not back. Suddenly he heard footsteps and dove into her bed and pretended to be asleep. Anita stopped with Nick outside her room.

'Good night Nick, and thank you for this perfect evening.'

'Good night, my sweet angle.'

Then he leaned down and bushed his lips gently over hers. Anita felt as if she were floating on clouds as she walked into her room. She slipped out of her clothes and into one of Brian’s shirts. Then she turned to her bed. Brian lay with his eyes closed. She bit her lip feeling bad about their misunderstanding earlier. She tiptoed next to him and carefully slid in like they usually slept.

Suddenly Brian’s arms shot out and wrapped around her.

'You still mad at me baby?'

'You know I can't ever stay mad at you for long.'

'I'm glad, I hate it when you are.'

He cast his innocent blue eyes upon her.

'You know I love you forever?'

'And ever. I know I know. It's just that sometimes Brian, you really act like an old man.'

He smirked.

'Old man, yeah right.'

She turned to face him. The light danced on his reddish hair making it glow golden copper. His blue eyes twinkled with happiness. He is so boyish, yet so handsome she thought.

'Nick asked me to be his girlfriend... and I said yes.'

Brain was silent for a moment. He was confused. Anita was his best friend, but why did he feel such jealousy. He tried to shake away his feelings.

'Wow, I'm happy for you sunshine. I hope Nick makes you happy. You deserve only the best. If he doesn't treat you like the best, you let me know and I'll take care of him for you got that princess?'

She smiled and kissed his cheek.

'Yeah I got that.'

She then snuggled deep into his arms ready for sleep. She drifted off quietly and Brian watched her as he did many times. Why do I have these feelings? This is Anita, someone I've known since she was three. I can't be feeling this way. Brian once again tried to shake away what he felt, but it was no use. He was in love with his best friend.

The next morning

Anita woke up happy in Brian’s arms. When she looked at him, she discovered he was still asleep. She smiled at him. She moved and tucked her head under his chin like she always did. He shifted in his sleep and opened his eyes.

'Mornin' sunshine'

'Mmmm mornin rok.'

'Sleep good sweet pea?'

'Yup, I did.'

'Gee aren't we talkative this morning?'

'Yup.'

She looked at him sleepily.

'Yeah, sure uh huh.'

So Brian called room service then settled back with Anita. He looked down at her and smiled seeing she was asleep. Someone then knocked at the door. Brian carefully moved away and went to the door. He opened it.

'Good morning Brian, is Anita awake?'

'Good morning Rachel, and nope I'm sorry, she was awake for less then 5 minutes but she went right back to sleep.'

'Yeah it figures, Anita believes in a lot of sleep. She believes in having plenty of beauty sleep.'

'Yeah funny, she has been that way since she was four. I remember whenever she spent the night she would always sleep late.'

Rachel laughed as she tried to imagine a little Anita insisting on her beauty sleep.

'Do you want to come in and wait for her to wake up?'

'Sure, I wanted to see how her date with Nick went last night.'

Brian bit his lip. He didn't want to hear anymore about it but he flashed her a smile and let her in. Just as he was about to close the door, he heard his name ring out. He looked back out into the hallway to see Nick jogging towards the room. He sighed but gave Nick a smile.

'What's up bro?'

'Not much just wanted to see if Anita wanted to hang out or something.'

'Sorry dude but she is still asleep and I ordered room service for the two of us.'

'Oh, well.'

He started but was interrupted.

'Nick!'

A smile lit his face when Anita came to the door.

'Hey, sweetie, I just stopped by to see if you wanted to hang but Brian said you two were going to have breakfast so I guess I'll see you later.'

'I'm sure B won't mind if I went with you would you Brian?'

YES! I do mind, he screamed in his mind. I do mind. But he knew he couldn't say anything so instead he sighed.

'Yeah sure Anita, you can go ahead and have breakfast with Nick. No big deal.'

Anita smiled and hugged him.

'You are the best B-rok. I love you. We'll do something later ok?'

'Sure, we can do something later.'

He felt tears well up as he watched her leave with Nick. Oh why does this have to be so hard? He wondered.

Chapter Seventeen

Anita and Nick spent the day together just hanging around, having fun. It was 8 at night by the time Anita made her way to her room laughing. Nick bent and kissed her telling her he would see her later, then left her for the night. Anita smiled as she opened her door and stepped in.

'Gee Anita, I'm so glad you were able to fit me into your busy schedule.'

Anita looked up surprised at the coldness in Brian's voice.

'Brian, gee come on. Nick is my boyfriend. Do you not expect me to spend time with him?'

'That is not the point. I thought you were my best friend but I guess I thought wrong.'

'Please don't do this B, you are my best friend.'

'Think again.'

And with that, Brian turned to leave. Anita grabbed his arm.

'Brian, don't walk out on me, can't we talk about this? Don't you love me anymore?'

Brian just shook her off and walked out the door. He sighed; he didn't know where to go. He shared a room with Anita so he couldn't go to a room to be alone. Her last question rang in his ear. Of course he loved her. That was the problem. He didn't just love her; he was in love with her. He hated that she spent all of her time with Nick and not with him. He walked down the hall looking for a place to be alone for a while.

Anita sat on her bed stunned. Brian had walked out on her. She felt bad; she knew she shouldn't have blown him off. She was so scared that she had lost her best friend. Her heart fluttered as she thought about him. She closed her eyes and reviled past times with him. Brian, who had always been right by her side. When it was her Freshman Homecoming and Spencer had gotten too pushy, Brian had saved her punching Spencer out and taking her home.

Brian sat thinking of the past he shared with Anita, He thought about the time he wanted to do something special for his mom on Mothers Day and how she had taken him shopping and help him find what they thought was the perfect gift.

Anita closed her eyes and every memory she could bring up into her mind had Brian in it. She knew what she had to do. She had to find Brian and make him listen. Suddenly she stopped. She realized that also in every memory she was in love with him. She bit her lip. She was lost. Nick was her boyfriend and she loved him. Didn't she?

The next day

Anita climbed onto the bus. Brian had come back to the room late that night. There were no words spoken between the two. He just changed and lay on the couch and went to sleep. Anita had cried herself to sleep. She didn't want Brian so mad at her. This was the first time ever that he really was mad at her. She sighed and went to find Nick.

'Hey there blondie.'

'Sup cutie pie?'

'Nothing, just tired. Didn't sleep well last night.'

'I know this bunk is small and all, but come on in and try to rest. You're going to make yourself sick if you don't get enough rest.'

She gave him a weak smile and crawled into the small space and lay with him. Soon sleep washed over her.

It couldn't have been very long, but Anita was soon jerked awake by harsh voices whispering. She kept her eyes closed and realized it was Brian and Nick.

'Dude what is your problem?'

'YOU! You are my problem Nick. I can't stand you.'

'Brian please, you are my best friend, if you would just talk to me we could work things out.'

'I have nothing to say to you Nick. Nothing. Forget it we aren't friends anymore. I hate you.'

Then Anita heard Brian's footsteps walk away. She lay still for a few moments and the pretended to wake up. When she looked at Nick, there were tears in his pretty blue eyes.

'What's wrong hon?'

'Don't worry about it baby. It's not your problem ok?'

'I'm here if you need to talk Nick.'

'Thanks baby girl.'

Nick was silent for a few minutes then looked down at her.

'Anita, I was wondering, I mean I love you and all and I was thinking, that is if you feel like it, would you sleep with me?'

She smiled at him.

'Yes Nick, I will.'

3 hours later

'Ugh! Finally. I thought we would never get here!'

Nick smiled at Anita. He loved her dramatic side. He reached for her hand. Suddenly Anita screamed.

'Rachel!'

Nick watched as she ran over to her best friend. Then he noticed Brian glaring at him. He felt his heart sink. He just didn't understand what was wrong with Brian. He took a step towards him but Brian just turned and walked away.

Later on Nick and Anita were alone in Nicks room talking. Soon the talking turned into kissing and things were beginning to go farther. As Anita kissed Nick she thought of something. Brian was the only one she had ever had sex with before and that was a couple of years ago. She pulled back from Nick.

'What's wrong?'

'Nothing, but um I've only slept with one person before and that was a couple of years ago.'

'Baby, I'm warning you that it might hurt somewhat since you haven't done it in a long time. I promise I'll do my best not to hurt you.'

'I know you will.'

'So who was the lucky guy? Anyone I know?'

'Actually yes, it was Brian.'

Nick was shocked. Had these two done everything together?

'Wow, that's cool.'

She laughed and they began to kiss again. Anita was down to her underwear when suddenly the door flew open and Brian walked in.

'Nick, you're right. We do need to talk...'

He stopped suddenly at what he saw.

Chapter Eighteen

Anita closed her eyes. This had to be a bad dream. She opened her eyes and Brian was still there looking shocked. Then she saw the shock turn into anger.

'Brian don't do something you are going to regret later please.'

'Looks like you already covered that area for me Anita.'

'Brian, don't you dare talk that way to her. She is not your girlfriend and what she chooses to do is her choice!'

Brian’s cheeks turned red. Suddenly he lunged at Nick. Anita screamed but it was too late. The fists were flying. She started crying when Nick punched Brian almost knocking him out.

'Nick stop it! You have a weight and height advantage over him.'

Nick didn't stop he kept hitting Brian. Anita threw a shirt on and ran in between them. Nicks fist made contact with the side of her face. She blacked out and fell to the floor.

'Anita!' Brian knelt beside her. He stroked her cheek.

'Please wake up sunshine. Nick I'm going to kill you for this.'

'Brian, I, I didn't mean to hurt her. I'm so sorry.'

'You should be sorry.'

He looked back down at Anita, her eyes fluttered open slowly.

'What happened?'

She winced at the pain on the right side of her face. It was so painful it almost felt numb. Brain explained everything to her. She sighed and sat up. Her head hurt and she felt dizzy and angry. She pushed Nick and Brian into the bathroom and helped clean them up. Then she made her way to the bed and collapsed on it.

'Don't bother me please I need sleep.'

'Do you hate me Anita?'

'Brian I can't hate you. I don't even know you anymore. I don't have any feelings for you at all right now.'

Brian felt his heart break at her words. He knew he deserved them after the way he treated her. He went over to her and kissed her cheek.

'I love you sweet pea.'

He waited a moment but didn't get an answer so he sadly turned and left the room with a small sorry to Nick.

Two days later

Anita is lying with Nick after they slept with each other

'How do you feel Anita?'

Nick had realized something during their so-called lovemaking. Sure he was attracted to her but he realized that he wasn't in love with her. He thought it would be best if they were just friends but didn't want to say anything.

'I feel ok I guess.'

Truth was she wasn't as happy as she thought she would be. She just wasn't in love with Nick. Yes she was in love though. She was in love with Brian. After all these years, the one she still wanted to be with was Brian.

'Nick, I have to be truthful. Don't get me wrong or anything, I love you, you are a great guy and an awesome friend but I'm just not in love with you.'

'Anita, it's ok that you feel that way because I was really just thinking that my self. We can still be friends right?'

'You better still want to be friends!'

She laughed then grew quiet.

'You are in love with Brian aren't you?'

She nodded.

'I should have known. The way you two act together. No wonder he was acting so weird. He is in love with you.'

'You really think so Nickers?'

'I do. And I also think you should go find him.'

'Thanks Nick. You are the best.'

With that she kissed his cheek and slid out of his bed. She dressed and went off to look for Brian.

Chapter Ninteen

Anita went around looking for Brian. She looked everywhere but couldn't find him. Finally she found Steve, one of their bodyguards.

'Steve! Have you seen Brian?'

'Yeah, he had his bags. He said he was going home a day early. I would have thought you were going with him or at least known.'

'Uh, yeah thanks Stever. Talk to you later.'

And with that she dashed off. She ran and packed her bags. She couldn't believe he left. She made a call to the airport and took a deep breath. She was ready to go home to Kentucky. She called for a ride and a while later went down to the limo she had no idea what she would say to him when she saw him again. She sighed. This was going to be hard.

A while later the plan landed and Anita decided to go home first to try to find him. Anita searched his house, their favorite places, unusual places, she tried everywhere but she could just not find him anywhere. Finally sad and dejected Anita returned home and then went to the tree house. She climbed in and lay on the blanket and pillow.

Her eyes suddenly snapped open. She realized that she must have fallen asleep because the air was cooler and through the window she could see traces of the sunset. Anita was fully awake before she realized that there was weight holding her down. She turned to her side and saw Brian fast asleep next to her his arm thrown over her. She nudged him.

'Oh, hey.'

'I've been looking all over for you.'

'Honey, you didn't try the high school gym.'

'I can't believe I am actually that dumb.'

'You aren't dumb, you just think like a girl and like you not like me.'

'Yeah, whatever.'

'So what are you doing home? I thought you were going to Florida with Nick.'

'Nick and I broke up. We both realized that we aren't in love with each other.'

'I'm sorry I really am.'

'Sure you are.'

'I am!'

'From the second you found out I was going to go out with Nick you hated the idea! But anyway that doesn't matter now.'

'Well what does?'

'The only thing that matters is that the person I'm in love with knows who he is.'

Brian’s heart began to beat faster. Was she actually going to tell him what he had been praying for? Was she in love with him?

'I think you need to tell that guy or else he won't know.'

Anita looked into his eyes.

'Alright, Brian, I love you.'

She whispered into his ear. He smiled and let out a loud whoop. He then pulled her into his arms and hugged her close.

'Oh Anita, I love you more than life itself. I've been waiting forever to hear you say that to me.'

'Brian, I have been in love with you for as long as I can remember.'

They then shared a deep kiss and smiled at each other. Then Brian pulled back slightly and they both sat up. He reached behind him and then knelt on one knee.

'Anita for as long as I can remember I have loved you. You are in my every past memory and I want you to be in my every future memory. I know we have been through a lot and there are just some times when it seems like we just want to kill each other, but I can't go another day risking that I may loose you.'

He took his hand from behind his back and was holding a velvet box. He opened it and there sat a beautiful ring. He knew her and knew she wouldn't want a big diamond. Instead lay a small diamond with two sapphires on either side. Her favorite stone and her birthstone. He took the ring and then her hand. He looked into her eyes and began to slide the ring onto her finger.

'I may not be the greatest person you know, and I may not let you win every argument but I still love you and always will. Anita, will you give me the honor of being my wife?'

The ring was all they way on. Anita looked down at it. Her small hand lying in his larger one. She knew that she loved this man and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. She looked back up into his hopeful eyes.

'Yes. Yes Brian, I will marry you. But you do know I tend to be a bitch and lazy and I'm never on time, I'm a slob, I can't really cook, I don't clean and.'

'Baby I don't care about all of that. I just want to be with you. That's why there are cooks and maids to hire. And baby you aren't always a bitch, and I love your sparky attitude. It's what makes you you.'

They smiled and through tears they kissed once more.

Chapter Twenty

Anita stood in a side room of the church in her wedding dress.

'Oh my Rache I can't do this. I'm so scared!'

'Calm down Anita. This is Brian. You've known each other since forever. It's going to be ok you love one another and you make the other happy. Just chill girl you are getting married!'

'Please Rache what do you know about it! You aren't getting married you don't know how scary it is!'

'Um, Anita, congratulations you are the first to know. A.J. and I got engaged!'

'Wow, I am so happy for you. You guys are crazy and deserve each other!'

'Um, thanks.'

'I can't believe it. We are getting married Rache! Hey you promised we would have a double wedding when we got engaged. You traitor!'

'Aaawwww you'll live with it. Once again you get to be the center of attention.'

'Hmmmm you are right. Today it's all about me.'

The girls then heard the music start up. Rachel went to get ready with A.J, Howie was with his wife Joanna, Kevin with his girlfriend Tammy, Nick was with his new girlfriend Grace. Anita smiled at Nick. She was happy for him through and through. Grace was a nice girl and she adored Nick. Nick made his way over to her.

'Now you listen Chica, I'm letting the love of my life marry my best friend so you both better treat each other good or I’ll beat you both got that?'

'Yes oh handsome one. And you know if I wasn't in love with Brian I would worship the ground you walk on and marry you.'

'Don't lie to me woman!'

They both laughed and then shared a hug. The wedding march was about to begin so the brides maids and the groom men stated their walk. Anita took a deep breath as the wedding march began and she stepped out into the aisle. She saw Brian waiting for her and all of her nerves vanished. She smiled and kept her eyes on only him and she walked the long walk slow.

Finally she got to the altar where Brian met her. She let go of her dads arm and took his. They stepped up to the priest and turned to face each other. Yes Anita knew she had made the right choice. She looked in to his eyes and the priest began. She mouthed:

'I love you.'

'I love you too.' He mouthed back. Then they took each other’s hands and began the ceremony.

Later at the reception Anita and Brian danced together with all of their friends. They laughed going through memories. Soon they sat down to dinner. Brian took his wine glass and stood up.

'I would just like to thank our friends and family for coming here tonight to celebrate the biggest moment of my life. Yes I realize marrying Anita was a scary choice to make.' he laughed as she punched him.

'But I know, I wouldn't want to have it any other way. So I make this toast to all of you but especially my beautiful wife.'

They all toasted then got up to share a slow dance. Brian closed his eyes and rested his head on hers. Yes finally his life was complete. He had his love.

'Anita, thank you, my life is complete because of you.'

And with that the two danced off into pure newly wed happiness.

Epilogue

A few years later. Anita is now 24 and Brian is 26.

Anita walked around the kitchen cleaning. She hummed to herself happily. She heard footsteps and smiled. A strong pair of arms wrapped around her waist. She smiled as she felt the soft lips brush over the skin of her neck. She closed her eyes when she realized that it was pretty darn quiet.

Anita turned to her husband.

'Brian where is Jason?'

'Baby don't worry. Jason went out to play with Kevin's son Scott a while ago.'

'Ok, just making sure. I have to keep an eye on our baby.'

'I know. So what do you and Rachel have planned for today?'

'Well, as you know, it's only a week until A.J's birthday so we are taking Anna to buy her daddy a present.'

They both walked to the window and looked out. A short distance out was their tree house. Suddenly Jason and Scott came flying around the corner.

'Come on Scott hurry, we have to get to the tree house.'

'Dude, why are we running so fast.'

'I'll tell you when we get to the tree house.'

Finally the two scrambled up. Panting Scott looked curiously at Jason.

'Ok Scott, the reason we were running for our lives was because...'

'JASON WHERE ARE YOU? I WANNA PLAY WITH YOU.'

A small voice called out. Jason looked out the window to see a little chubby girl standing looking up at them.

'Anna go away you can't play with us. Tree houses are only for guys.'

'Well having tea parties are only for girls and you seemed more than happy to play.'

Scott fell over laughing at his cousin.

'Anna go home! I don't want to play with you!'

Anna turned and ran home crying. Jason felt bad. He smoothed back his reddish hair and sighed.

Anita turned to Brian.

'Like father like son. Always being mean.'

'Oh come on Anita!'

'Brian I have an uneasy feeling. It's like 20 years ago. Like watching a movie.'

'Yeah I know. That's scary.'

They laughed and shared a kiss. Anita looked back out the window knowing that Jason and Anna were probably soul mates like she and Brian were. She had a feeling the cycle was starting all over again. She just hoped Nick and his wife Grace had a daughter.

'Oh and by the way Brian, I'm pregnant.'

Yup, life was definitely good. Brian picked her up and swung her around. Outside Jason played with Scott thinking of Anna and how he would never make her cry again. The cycle had begun.
