Reality Check - Chapter Two

“Okay, this is great, the shower did nothing for this headache. God I hope
the Imitrex kicks in soon,” Nick sighed as he looked at his bloodshot eyes in
the bathroom mirror. Walking from the bathroom, at first he didn’t notice
the woman that was standing near the entrance. After he sat on the bed, he
saw her.

“How did you get in here?” Nick demanded, mouth agape.

“That’s not important,” Sharon Sanders replied as she approached the bed.

“Stay where you are..don’t move!” Nick cried out. “I - I’ll call security if you
don’t leave right now!”

“I will leave in a few minutes, I just want to warn you---”

“Warn me? What the hell are you talking about?” Nick tried to sound
confident, but inside he was scared and worried that this woman was a
crazed lunatic.

“You need to learn a lesson in humility,” Sharon began.

“What the hell are you talking about lady?” Nick asked as he tried to grab
the phone without taking his eyes off the woman.

“Listen to me, don’t try to make any sudden moves,” Sharon commanded in a
stern voice.

Nick froze and swallowed hard, sweat forming on his face.

“I didn’t appreciate how you let my baby down--”

“Huh?”

“My Megan is a huge fan of yours and we waited in the cold, dark weather
waiting for any one of you boys to come back to the hotel. We saw AJ and
we saw Howie and both of them were gracious to the girls that waited for
them, they talked to us and they gave us autographs,” Sharon explained. Her
eyes grew cold, when she recalled the last part, “you however, rushed past
the group of young girls not even bothering to say hello or thank you.”

“I was sick,” Nick defended.

“So you say now, I think you need a reality check in life. You need to put
yourself in these poor girls shoes and you will learn what life is about and
once your lesson is learned, your lifestyle will be returned.”

“What are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying,” Nick
rambled as he watched the woman smile a odd smile at him.

“You will realize tomorrow when you wake up what I’m talking about, sleep
well in your fabulous hotel suite, it’s going to be the last good night’s sleep
you will be having for quite awhile.”

Before Nick could ask the woman anymore questions, she quickly left the
room, the door clicking shut in a dramatic way.

Pinching his eyes Nick questioned whether what he just went through really
happened or if he was hallucinating. Shrugging, he decided his headache was
creating delusions in his brain.

“Sleep Nickolas, you just need rest,” he coached himself as he pulled the
covers back and slipped into bed.
