Hey, I wrote this for my uncle who is currently serving in the armed forces. Don't forget to review. ~sungoddess

To Fight for a Dream

Deep within the American character

We are peace-loving people.

There is honor and generosity,

But, most of all, there is an inquenchable

Quest for freedom for all,

And peace throughout the world.

Our future may lie beyond our vision,

But that never stopped us from dreaming heroic dreams.

Even in times of destruction

Fueled by pure hatred,

And bitter ignorance,

Our dreams that our forefathers had

Radiate through each and every American.

When this belief of freedom and peace is present,

No wrong can stand against it.

Why do we fight then?

We fight because we must fight if

We are to live in a world

Where every country can shape its own destiny.

We fight for freedom.

Why do we have freedom to fight for?

On many battlefields across the ages,

Precious blood was shed,

And lives were given,

All for a dream they knew conceivable,

And with their sacrifice,

Possibly even reached.

Those men moved the world,

And their descendants are doing that very same thing today,

In far off countries where peace is a mere dream.

They fight with all their hearts and souls

To keep their families safe,

And to keep the world safe.

They fight for a dream,

And only a dream.

Some would say giving your life for a dream is foolish,

But I would say to them that it is selfless.

I would tell them that

The dream that they fight for

Is the dream many have fought for throughout the ages.

To me,

To fight for a dream means giving your whole self to the cause.

To fight for a dream is to change the world as we know it,

And to dream of a better tomorrow

Is something we should all do,

Because I believe that if we have enough people fighting for a dream,

Then, one day that dream will come true.
