"Daddy!"

Addy spun through the kitchen doorway and ran into my arms.

"Hi, princess. How were you last night?" I helped her get up into my arms, and her arms settled around my shoulders. We looked at each other, eye to eye.

"I missed you," she said, and smacked me a big kiss on my cheek and
laughed, "That tickled!"

She always got tickled by my facial hair.

"Did you have a good date?" she giggled, and I let her slip down out of
my arms back onto the barstool.

I smiled at her, "Yes, I did, sweetheart."

"I'm hungry, that babysitter was weird."

I laughed at her, "You know what? I got a little secret to tell you."

"What?" her eyes lit up with wonder.

I talked a ltitle bit quieter, trying to make it seem like a big secret
and leaned in close to her ear, "She was very weird. You don't ever have to
worry about her again. I promise."

She smiled, and gave me a thumbs up.

"So, what do you want to eat, little one?"

"McDonald's," she told me.

"I was hoping you would say that," I winked at her.

"Yes!" she said, excitedley.

I grabbed my car keys, which were laying on the kitchen table, and
slipped on a pair of flip-flops.

"Where's your flip-flops, honey?" I asked her, scanning the room with
my eyes and no shoes were in sight.

"Oh! In the garage," she quickly ran off to go grab them.

I went to the sliding glass door to let the dog inside. I pet her a few times, until Addy came running back in, with her shoes on.

"All ready?" I asked her.

She nodded and said bye to Daisy.

"Yeah, can I get a #1 with a large Coke, and a chicken nuggets happy meal. Yeah, it's a girl toy. Okay, thank you."

I drove up to the next window and payed the cashier.

"You know, it's getting closer to Christmas," I told Addy.

I had noticed all of the Christmas lights hanging up, and the wreaths,
and bows and Christmas music taking over nearly every radio station. I
sighed. I hated this time of the year. The only reason I tried to enjoy it was because of Addy. To me, it was just another commericialized holiday that went on for far too long.

"I wonder what Santa will get me!" she exclaimed.

"I don't know, we're gonna have to go see him soon at the mall."

I pulled up to the next window, and grabbed my bag of food and drinks,
"Thank you."

"Here you go," I passed her the Happy Meal, and drove off.

I was the worst Christmas shopper. I would get my gifts the day before
Christmas Eve. I would go to the toystore and just buy Addy shitloads of presents. Yeah, I spoiled her at Christmas time. Alright, I spoil her year
round. But she was a good kid most of the time, so I figured I should just
splurge.

I was trying to get better. I didn't want to turn her into a complete
brat or anything. I wasn't good with disipline, since my mom never really
gave me much of it. But so far she was turning out okay.

Next week, I was gonna start my Christmas shopping. Since all of the
guys and I had gotten older, we had always got each other something little. And I, of course, had to get my mom something. When I was younger, it was always something meaningless but now... I tried to get her something from my heart.

"DAD!"

"Huh?" I snapped out my thoughts quickly.

"I want to see Santa Clause soon!"

"Okay, baby. We will."

"How 'bout Wedneday?" she grinned up at me.

"Okay," I gave her a smile back., "Wednesday it is."
