Hi, I'm Julie. I'm an elementary school teacher from Illinois. I started reading BSB fanfic over the summer of 1999, when I was 14, and I've been writing it for almost as long. My favorite kind of stories to write are drama/angst with a hint of romance, and most of my stories are about Nick or Brian.

Hm... so it seems Tony isn't in on it. Maybe. He could be faking. I thought he was when he started smiling about the car. We'll see. I loved Nick's reaction at the beginning, when he just started crying and thinking about giving up. Honestly, that would probably be me in a situation like this LOL. It felt realistic to me. It was sweet how Brian comforted him, the scent of Old Spice. I know I've said it so many times before, but I just love the way you write the guys together. Even though this is a great suspense, I really love the bromance.

Author's Response: It's nice to know that you are still appreciating the guys' relationships. Sometimes I struggle to figure out whether or not they are coming across properly. FYI, I would have balled my eyes out a long time ago and hidden in a closet. I don't do scary/stressful situations very well.

Oooh! I love a good crazy fan story. The bsbcrazies.net site and the idea that they may have killed the Nick look-alike on purpose to get the guys together is really interesting.

Author's Response: That's what you get for wanting to look like Nick Carter ... wait ... that thought sounds harsh when I put it on "paper" ... oh well.

I loved your use of description in this chapter, especially with the setting. I could picture this abandoned industrial building with the cheap fluorescent lighting that doesn't quite get rid of the shadows. The cameras add a nice, creepy touch. I appreciate how Howie just allowed himself to be led in instead of trying to fight, even though he thought about it. I've said this before, but that would probably be me LOL. I'd be too afraid to try anything, knowing I probably wouldn't be able to get away anyway. Somehow I think Kevin is not going to be as content just to sit there and take it. We'll see.

Author's Response: Wow - you certainly have done a lot of reading since the last time that I logged on. I suppose that's what I get for going away for a few days. Hahaha! Anways, I'm looking forward to reading all of your reviews. I'm glad that you were able to picture the setting. My goal was to make it sound sufficiently creepy. LOL - You, me, and Howie would just let ourselves be led along to the gloomy basement. There's no way that I would try and fight back in that situation. I'm a wimp.

I loved the scene of the guys arguing over what to make their screenname LOL. Somehow I knew that was going to happen when AJ first mentioned registering for the forum. Interesting revelation from Brian about the girls who did him "favours." I can see why that would be strangely comforting to AJ and probably Nick too. I really appreciate the comic relief, especially in the midst of all this drama and suspense!

Author's Response: I find that I have to add some comic relief for my own sanity as a writer. I don't know how some writers can write a whole story that is dark and depressing. I have the utmost respect for those writers, because I would just feel so depressed that I would probably stop writing. In terms of the Brian revelation, I wouldn't be surprised if it were true in real life as well. I think that Brian isn't as squeaky clean as he leads everyone to believe.

Confession: I binge-read a bunch of chapters of this on my Kindle in bed last night and didn't review because I was on my Kindle in bed LOL, so I'm going back to catch up on reviewing. I felt so bad for Kevin and Howie in this chapter just from the description of them sitting for so long on the hard cement floor, with the cable ties digging into their wrists. That sound absolutely miserable! It was "nice" of Sarah to send the knife in so they could cut their hands free, though I was questioning her motives, just like Kevin and Howie were. This girl is batshit crazy, but more on her later!

Author's Response: Yes, Sarah was "nice" in this chapter. I enjoyed your use of quotations there. LOL I also hate trying to leave a review from my tablet or my phone because the auto-correct feature drives me crazy!!

Were you inspired by that guy who had a bunch of plastic surgery to look like Justin Bieber when you created the character of Dan? It's scary to think someone would go to such lengths to look exactly like someone else. I would be creeped out too if I were Nick! It was sad to see Nick, AJ, and Brian falling apart and fighting amongst themselves in this chapter, but I'm glad they got it together by the end. The live video streaming on their official website is so creepy! I'm wondering how Sarah has all these connections to hack, infiltrate, and fool the police, their website, everything!!

Author's Response: I did see photos of that guy who tried to look like the Beibs ... talk about someone who is a few fries short of a Happy Meal! Actually, I got the idea from an episode of Castle in which a celebrity look-a-like is killed because someone mistakes her for the real celeb. For the most part, the guys had been getting along so I figured that it was time for them to fall apart just a little bit. I didn't have the heart to make them stay mad at each other though.

This chapter was intense! I loved all the action of Brian's escape. I was rooting hard for him to get away and be the one to save the rest of them, but of course it didn't happen. Your writing makes it easy to get inside the characters' heads; I felt so devastated for Brian when he was finally caught. :(

Author's Response: I was rooting for Brian when I was writing the chapter even though I knew that he wouldn't manage to escape. LOL He's my favourite, so I figured that he deserved the big escape scene. Poor guy - he was so close!

In a way, it was nice to get the five of them back together in this chapter, even though it's bad news that they're all trapped in the same place. I could understand Howie's reaction to hearing AJ's voice though - happy and heart-sinking at the same time.

Author's Response: Some other people mentioned that they were happy that everyone was back together as well. I guess no matter what the circumstances, we're all just happier when they're a united front.

I was not so sure about the whole Sarah the crazy fan storyline at first, but after reading her insane "justification" for why she's doing this, I get it. It's over the top, but there are fans out there that I could definitely see feeling this way, and with the right combination of mental illness and opportunity, it's not out of the realm of possibility that one would try something like this to get close to the Boys or "get back" at them. Very creepy. Your writing really helps to sell the story.

Author's Response: I definitely took some liberties with Sarah's character. I loosely based her bahaviour after some fans who are a little too "intense" for my liking. I'm glad that you find her motives plausible. The fact that "connecting" with a celebrity is become much more commonplace with Twitter, Instagram, etc. helps to sell the idea (at least I hope so anyways).

I appreciated Kevin's line of thinking at the beginning of this chapter because he was asking a lot of the same questions I was (and I imagine other readers were too). I wasn't sure if Sarah was really rich and had hired the goons to do her bidding, but it makes more sense that they're related to her, especially since she just said in the last chapter that she gave up her life for the Backstreet Boys, so she couldn't have that well-paying of a job. Anyway, I appreciate these hints at her back story. That was so awful, trying to make Nick choose between Kevin and AJ. And what a great cliffhanger!! This is why I kind of enjoy letting myself fall behind on suspense stories like this, so I don't have to suffer through all the cliffhangers. ;) It was such a relief to be able to click to the next chapter and find out what happened!

Author's Response: I pretty much gave Kevin the voice of the readers in this chapter. Out of all of the guys, I figured that he would be the one who would be the most interested in putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together. Is it wrong that I'm a little bit sad that you didn't have to suffer through the cliffhanger?? :P

I was surprised it was Howie who got hit! I thought Brian was going to end up taking the bullet. I'm glad they were able to control Howie's bleeding enough to keep him alive... for now. Depending on how much internal damage the bullet did, I'm not sure how much longer he has if they don't get help soon.

Author's Response: Surprise!! Poor Howie. He's been having a rough time in this story already with his emotions and now he got shot. He just can't seem to be able to catch a break.

This was really disturbing, Sarah threatening to shoot Brian through the heart. I'm glad he had the reflexes to move just in time, and that was smart of him to just lie there and play dead. That is totally what I would do! Hopefully this means he'll be able to jump up at just the right time and catch the bad guys by surprise!

Author's Response: I doubt that I would have had the good sense to move like Brian did. I probably just would have stood there in terror and let the crazy b**** shoot me. *hangs head* It's a good thing that Brian is braver (or at least has more sense) than me!

This chapter threw me for a loop at first! I wasn't expecting them to be rescued that quickly, but then again, I guess there were only so many ways the guys could escape being fatally shot. I'm glad they're all okay - alive, anyway. I loved the Nick and Brian hug! Frick and Frack forever!

Author's Response: Yeah, I was kinda running out of ways for them to be almost killed so I figured that it was time for someone to come and save them. I loved writing that Nick and Brian moment. I agree with you: "Frick and Frack" forever!! :D

I loved the scene of AJ, Nick, and Brian reuniting, but I felt bad for Kevin, missing out again! I like how you're touching on all the different relationships again in the aftermath of everything that happened.

Author's Response: I also felt badly for Kevin in this chapter. I considered writing him into the scene out of fear that people would throw pointy things at me for leaving him out, but in the end I decided that it made more sense to exclude him based on his experiences/thoughts earlier on in the chapter.

I appreciated getting the background on how Sarah pulled off this whole thing. It makes sense that she had to be involved with the police somehow to have access to the information she did and to be able to plant Joey and Tony. The whole thing about the "order" she had in mind was interesting. I'm glad Frick and Frack are a thing again, but Nick and Howie have definitely gotten closer over the years. They're the only ones you really see hanging out outside of BSB stuff, which says a lot. I think I agree that, nowadays, if you wanted to hurt Nick the most, you'd take out Howie as the grand finale. And Nick was the right choice to be the first to go see Howie.

Author's Response: I couldn't agree more with this review! I love that Brian and Nick seem to be close again, but Howie and Nick seem to have the strongest bond at the moment. You do see evidence of them spending time together outside of "work", which warms my heart. I like to think that the guys are friends outside of the group.
