Such a bittersweet story. Ron's emotions are so painfully real and it's amazing how you can just float right through the story. And you've got to admire the man's strategy of saying his best friend is a prick and just to let his feelings out. Nice and direct. Perfect. And poor Hermione. mortal peril is just not a trip in the park! ...I can't imagine what Molly was thinking when the three were off looking for the horocruxes...

When I first started into the story, I'm trying to think of any rational reason why anyone would let Nick and AJ have firearms... The idea too terrifying to imagine... Then, halfway through, I can just tell that this is a paintball war. The story was terrific and you almost breathe a sigh of relief when you realize they're getting attacked with paintballs instead of bullets. Charming!

This was a beautiful story and the way that you personafied Death is quite genius. It made me think of the poem - Death be not proud, which is one of my favorite poems by the way. And the first person narrative gives you a sense of overhearing the conversation when you're walking by Nick's hospital room. The poor thing. Beautiful!

This is one of the most creative pieces of fiction that I have ever come across. Of course, I'm not surprised that it's by my Rosie. The way you have Nick write is so absolutely adorable and funny. I'm amazed at how easy it flows. It's him to a 'T'... Whatever the Hell that means. Let him go wild! Kill off some fan fiction writers... We need the space! Kidding!

Y'know, there is something to be said for how the chainsaw hummed within Julie's body cavity, causing a vibration of agononizing pain from her already exposed spinal nerves. Working deeper into the flesh, chunks of bloody meat began to tear from the remaining lump of tissue, whipping across the room and splattering a colorful crimson network of revenege upon the nearby wall-- Oh, wait, Nick's writing... Chainsaw in. Guts out. End.

Your first point of view was good. It was like Nick was just having a conversation with the reader, which made it heartfelt and warm. And it was a really sweet sentiment. Captured Nick's personality perfectly. Or at least I think you did. I'm still sketchy on flashbacks, but I always have been, so I don't critique that. Wonderful piece.

Author's Response: Well, either I captured Nick's personality perfectly or Nick and I share the same personality, because I realized while I was writing that it was me I was hearing. Let's try this second review. I usually don't like first-person stories, because I like knowing what is inside of everyone's head. But you splitting off the chapters between the two main characters is good. And you don't let the lines blur between them so you have to wonder who is who. Brian's characterization was dead on. I really felt him in your story. His explanation of seeing the grace of God in car accidents was phenomenal and unique. I'd never thought about it like that before, but he definitely would. And him stopping Dawn on the bridge was great. "I'm going with you." I loved that. Simple and poignant. Nick's characterization was good too. What a knucklehead. I love it.
