Summary: Once upon a Time Kevin didn't want anything to do with a 15 year old he was stuck having to work with everyday. Then things happened which forced him to get to know that kid a little bit better. Sometimes we all need to grow up and realize that things aren't always like they seem. A coming of age story for the oldest member of the group.

Well, I'm from New Jersey. I work in fast food and I love pineapple pizza, Harry Potter, traveling, Disney, one direction, sailor moon and star wars. I like going to the beach and writing/reading fanfiction....plus going to lots of concerts. I'm a huge Weird Al fan as well. I've been writing since about 1999. Started off on Fanfiction.net, but made my way to AC after taking a few years off. Joined Absolute Chaos in 2009 and have been here ever since! I like to read just about everything and am open to writing almost every genre. Nick is featured the most in my work but I have something for everyone. Aww. It's nice to see Kevin coming around a little. I also liked the comparison of Nick and Kevin when they lie. That was
a very interesting point to the chapter. I liked the part at the end where Kevin said he wants to kill Nick most of the time but he cares about him anyway, I feel that is pretty accurate. Great update Mare. Can't wait for next week's chapter :)

Aww the scene of Kevin running from the wake/funeral was so sad. I could picture that. Kevin is also finally understanding Nick and realizing that they are more than just bandmates. Can't wait for the next chapter.

I want to smack Kevin for doing that UGH. I know he was worried but after Nick had just told him about his dad, he shouldn't have shook him. Idiot.
I mean I know Kevin is growing up too, but damn he was stupid. I am glad Howie was there to break that up. I wonder if Nick will be so compliant to talk after the way he was treated. Can't wait for the update next weekend :)

Love love love how you showed Kevin with his brothers and how he and Nick are pretty similar. I also think Nick is lying about the crush on Mandy. Hopefully he and Kevin will get to talk more soon. I really hope it doesn't take anything drastic to get to that. You did a good job on the chapter and I hope you sort out your computer situation soon!

Before I leave my thoughts on the chapter, I feel that is part of my problem with writing lately. It takes a lot of time for me to type by phone and the last story I posted it didn't feel like people were into it. However, I love this story and I hope you continue to write it. I love how you are including some of Kevin's memories of his brothers to parallel him and nick. It is already bringing them closer together.
I liked how Howie compared nick to the lost puppy because I can see that being the truth in real life too. Nick wants love and attention so he acts out to get noticed. I am happy Kevin and him had that talk. The hugging was super cute. Great update Mare :)
Author's Response: Yeah, it's hard writing on something small.I honestly don't have the patience for it. I don't know how you do it all the time. You know how I feel about people who read and don't review but yes, it is pretty much a downer when you put in the effort and think no one cares enough to read or review. I'm sure they did enjoy it though but didn't bother telling you. Ugh writer's reading this know better! Okay enough ranting...I'm glad you enjoyed the puppy analogy. I really think this is how Kevin feels about Nick and although he always tried to get rid of him it's great Kevin is seeing that Nick just wants to have a relationship with him. It's just like Howie said about Nick being that puppy.
I think it's cute that Nick tried to play off being afraid to be alone as him thinking the guys needed company and I hope that hopefully he will open up soon. Great chapter Mare and congrats on your awards. They were well deserved!

I just remember in an interview once where Brian was talking about Nick never wanting to be alone and would say things like "Come on guys, let's go to the bathroom." Lol

I am sorry this review is coming late too. I've been sick so haven't been reading a whole lot. I love how you explained the reason Kevin dismissed Nick so quickly in the beginning of the group and his back story. It's great to see that in Fanfic and I think you did a fantastic job.
I want to hit Nicks family because I can see them tossing him too :( sad Nick makes me sad. I can't wait for the next chapter :)

I mentioned this previously but I love how
you show Kevin when he was younger to parallel Nick. Especially the "little man" nickname... that was cute. It had to come from somewhere I suppose. It gives me warm fuzzies to see him finally call Nick that at the end of the chapter, meaning Kevin is starting to accept him. Kind of how his brother did for him. So cute! I know you said this will be a while til the next update but I will be waiting patiently. Loved the chapter as always Mare :)

The beginning of the chapter was so sweet and magical and gave me warm fuzzies seeing them sing together for the first time, and Nick accepting Brian like that was an awww moment.
Then the Nick and Kevin Christmas part made me awwwwww harder because I really believe Kevin made him feel wanted and like family. I always thought this was how things were in real life too because of how nick talks about his own family and how the boys raised him. Loving this story so far Rose :)

I hope Nicks really realizing what he wants from life now or if he even wants it to change at all. Brian being dead was a huge shock but without Leighanne or the guys pushing him to get the surgery like she said, he would ignore it. Very nice and moving chapter can't wait for more!

Love this so far because I loved Divine Intervention. I am really interested in seeing where you take this, especially with that last line of the chapter. Lots of possibilities with this story. Anyways looking forward to seeing more, great job so far.

Awe. That was so sweet with AJ and Ava. But it's terrible I kind of laughed when AJ had AIDS. AIDS for everyone? Lol.
