I've never striven to be a writer, but my overactive imagination had other ideas. I figured this place was a good sanctuary to let it all out.

You never once forget that Nick has cancer, because that's the whole premise of the story, but attitude-wise, you completely forget he does because he doesn't act like he does at all. He acts like it's just a little cold he'll get over in a few days but this chapter I feel like sort of reminded him that is could be a lot worse. Hopefully it means he'll stop being so damn stubborn and get help if he needs it even if he doesn't want it.

You don't really see really specific characters nowadays but I feel like I can read Nick like a book in this story. I can list specific attributes to him and can see how much he cherishes his relationships, enough that he'd hurt himself to keep them from hurting. Great job :)

Author's Response: Thanks Sevily! :) I totally get what you mean... I think it's part of his denial; he knows he has it, but he's so desperate to forget it and go on with his life as usual that he can pretend it's not such a big deal. It's interesting, cause in my other Nick cancer story, Broken, he was very emo and "oh woe is me" about it the whole story, so I like that this character of Nick developed totally differently and has this "eh, whatever, I'm good" kind of attitude about it most of the time. But yeah, he definitely needs those reality checks from time to time. I'm glad he seems like such a vivid character to you; there are so many different versions of Nick in fanfics, he can kinda be whoever you want him to be, so it's cool that you can pick up on specific things about this version of him. Thanks again for another review that made me think! :)

Another great chapter :) that video is awesome lol, I'd never seen it before! I liked the interaction between Brian and Nick - it seems that Nick isn't as great at hiding things as he thought he was, and Brian is perceptive, just about the wrong things. Maybe that'll change...

Author's Response: Thanks! :) LOL I like the video too. I'm using another one that's even better for Ch. 35. I liked writing that conversation between Brian and Nick; that wasn't really planned, but just kind of happened. But I do think Brian, under the circumstances, is right to be suspicious, even though he's wrong in what he's thinking. Nick has a bad track record when it comes to girls, and to them, it seems like he must be head over heels for Cary, the way he's spending so much time with her and not them. Like you said, Brian can tell something's up, just not what it is yet. Your reviews are always so insightful; I look forward to them! Thanks, Sevily! :)

Such a sad chapter :( But honest too, another layer peeled back to both Nick and Cary this time. :)

Author's Response: Thanks Sevily! :)

It's really great to see actual friendship blossoming between the two :)

Author's Response: Aw, thanks! It's fun to write that. :)

I didn't get to see their last tour, and this chapter makes me feel a little better about missing it haha. On that note, I have a feeling this chemo while on tour thing is going to get old fast. Great chapter :)

Author's Response: Aww... it was a great tour, but then again, all their shows are great! Hopefully you can go to the next one. Thanks for the review; I'm glad you liked the chapter! :)

Great chapter - I love Cary, mostly because she doesn't see through Nick's pretenses and won't put up with any of his bullshit. And she's right - sooner or later, the truth is going to come out but hopefully while Nick is not on his deathbed...

Author's Response: Thanks!!

Great chapter - though I thought I missed this update! Not sure why, but I feel like Nick sort of gave in to Cary. He's been very stubborn but this chapter, he wasn't like that. Maybe it's the first one many submissions when it comes to his sickness. Or maybe I'm just completely out in left field because I'm exhausted and have been stuck in an office all day haha

Author's Response: Thanks! No, I don't think you're out of left field at all. I think it's a sign of how bad he was feeling that he gave up and let her take care of him, instead of trying to keep up a brave front and act like nothing's wrong while he's puking his guts out. He just couldn't pretend anymore, and he felt too sick to really care if she came in or if she stayed or not. You're right; he finally did have to submit to it. Glad you enjoyed the chapter, and thanks for your review!! :)

Great chapter :) I'm not sure if I want to call Nick admitting he needed Cary as an epiphany or not. I think deep down he's always known that he needed her but is just starting to be able to admit it. I love how each chapter is like another layer peeled off the characters - we're slowly getting to their cores.

And the rabid fan...is based on a real person...and I know who that person is...I think...but I don't want to say anything...but...I think you know who I am thinking of...right?

Author's Response: Thanks! :) I know what you mean... I do think he always knew, but he's always sort of been in denial at the same time, and he's starting to see things more clearly. Thanks; that's awesome that you see the characters as deep that way. :) As for the rabid fan... maaaybe... probably... yeah. ;)

I've been trying to figure out if I could see try and figure out where their relationship might be headed, if it's going to be love/hate friendship or not.

But I'm stumped. I can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: Thanks Sevily! I'll be honest; I don't know for sure either. I have an idea of where it might go, but I'm trying to let the characters decide for themselves with this one. Whatever direction they take me in, I'm prepared to go with. That's a new kind of experiment for me, cause usually I'm a planner, so we'll see how it all turns out LOL. Thanks for reading and reviewing; I'm glad you're enjoying the story!

The scary thing about this story is how realistic it is and could be. The way you weave actual events into the fictitious ones brings the story to a new level. I absolutely love Cary as a character too, she reminds me of one of my greatest friends. And I've noticed in most of your chapters, you always remind the reader of what they're really doing here. It doesn't matter how much fun they're having, or who they're fooling because at the end of the day, they're still keeping a secret.

Author's Response: Thanks! That's what I'm going for... I'm a stickler for realism, so even though the premise is obviously fictional (thank goodness), I always try to keep it as reality-based as I can. Usually my stories are set in the future, but it's kinda fun writing about things that have already happened recently, but with this fanfic twist. I'm so glad you like Cary; that means a lot to me. I don't think it's easy to create an original character, especially a female lead, who is actually original and not just a repeat of other characters I've written or a self-insert, but it's something I've really been trying to work on with the last few stories I've written. And yeah... I like chapters like this that are a little lighter and fluffier and have some comic relief, but at the end of the day, the story's still a drama, and I don't want anyone to forget the conflict at the heart of it - not that you really would LOL. Thanks for another awesome review, Sevily!! :)

I was saying to myself before I read the second to last line that Cary is the opposite of Nick, she's realistic instead of optimistic like Nick. Not that Nick is optimistic about his sickness at all, but he doesn't ever really look at the whole picture like Cary does. But this chapter really put it into perspective of the two outcomes that this story is going to have. Nick is either going to beat his cancer, or he's going to succumb to it, there aren't any other options.

From a writing stand point, I think this was the best written chapter so far. Not grammatically or anything like that, but Cary's voice is so distinctive that you totally believe whatever she says or thinks unlike Nick. Great job again :)

Author's Response: Aww, thank you, Sevily!!! :) Yeah, she really is opposite of Nick in a lot of ways; I like that contrast, and it makes it interesting to write their two different POVs. Cause you're totally right; he is optimistic to the point of being delusional at times, or maybe just naive, and she is more realistic and knows better. And yeah, eventually it will have to go one way or the other. Thanks, I really appreciate that - I enjoyed writing this chapter, this look at Cary's world, and the next one that I'm writing now will be along the same lines. Thanks again; I'm glad you liked the chapter! :)

You always end your chapters on these notes that cuts like a knife. This chapter was so great, it was happy, and them BAM, don't forget that this illness is going to get worse before it gets better and here is something that could happen. It could be Nick in that nursing home not too far in the future.

But that's what makes this story so compelling. The high notes are high, and the low notes are low, but intertwining them as you do makes the reader (or just me) attached completely. Great job :)

Author's Response: Thanks! :) LOL I love doing that, especially with a cheesy/cheerful chapter like this. Gotta spoil it somehow! =P LOL I'm glad you liked the chapter - thank you!!

Another great chapter :) This chapter made me sort of pity Nick though...although pity is not the word I want to use nor is sympathize. It's sad that he's hiding this secret and acting like everything is okay. It's sad to see Cary struggle to act normal around her Dad and Jessica even though it's not really her secret.

But can't wait to read more. I have such a crush on Nick in this story even though he's being dumb. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks Lily! :) I get what you mean with pitying him, but not exactly that... he's stupid and in denial, but you do kinda feel sorry for him that he feels like he has to put himself through that. I'm glad to hear you have such a crush on him even though he's that dumb. ;) LOL

I knew how hard this would be for Nick, but I never really considered how hard it would be for Cary. But this chapter is so sad because you sort of see how the others see Cary and it's not in a good light. If only they knew...which is what she keeps telling herself.

But I also feel like this chapter was a huge step for Nick and Cary. It sounds simple with him suggesting she take the other side of the bed, but it shows just how comfortable he is now, and not forcing himself to feel comfortable because she's his nurse. Does that makes sense? haha

Great chapter :)

Author's Response: Thanks Lily! :) I always love the points you bring up in your reviews. You're right; obviously it's hard on Nick, but it's hard on Cary too, to see someone she idolizes going through this and have to not only take care of him, but keep it a secret and not be able to talk to anyone else about it. She's so involved in it now, it's a lot of pressure on her... and it especially sucks for her now that the guys have formed the completely misguided opinion of her. And yeah, that totally makes sense about the bed thing... even though it was awkward for Cary, it does show that Nick is comfortable around her, that he doesn't just think of her as his nurse. Thanks; I'm glad you liked the chapter! :)

I like your long chapters simply because I can't get enough of this story ;)

I'm glad it was from Nick's POV, I was curious to see how he was starting to feel about all of this. Although I feel like the excuses keep getting watered down, there's only so much 'I'm not feeling' well someone can take before it erupts into something not pretty lol

And I'm not sure if I've noticed this in other chapters from Nick's POV, but he seems to pay attention to the way Cary reacts to him a lot...that might be something for me to dwell on later though haha

Author's Response: Aww, thanks! :) I've been switching between the POVs every five chapters, but I think I'm going to start switching more often than that now that the story is moving along a little faster. I like alternating between their POVs, and there are certain parts that I think need to be in one POV vs. the other, but I like to get both their takes on stuff too. You're right about the excuses; it's nice that he's being at least half-honest, but the more he admits he doesn't feel well, the more they're going to catch on that something is really wrong with him. You're right about him paying attention to Cary's reaction to him, too... he seems like such a tease that way in real life, I think it would amuse him. ;) Thanks for the review!!
