Poor Nick! Now even Brian thinks that he's a nutter. It's sad to see their relationship falling apart again. Why can't Nick just get his act together? Ugh! So frustrating!! LOL
I don't know how Nick is managing to keep up with all of these past/present/future versions of himself. I can barely keep up!! LOL. I have to say, that I was stoked that 2014 Brian showed up.

While Nick struggles to deal with what happened on the cruise, Howie’s indiscretions lead to dire consequences.Rape?? - Wow, I didn't think that Nick would go there, but he did. Oh man!

I thought that you nailed Brian and Kevin's reactions as well - Kevin being the voice of reason and Brian clearly being uncomfortable, but still not willing to walk out on Nick.
I also LOLed at Leighanne's reaction. Totally her!!
I can't wait to see how this all plays out now that the other guys know!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I knew that word would just devastate Howie, and although it's not necessarily true, Nick does have his reasons for thinking it. I'm glad you thought the other guys' reactions were realistic. Leighanne's cracked me up too; I could so imagine that look on her face. Thanks again!
So, I know that this chapter was supposed to be all serious, but I laughed at Lauren's comment about her having to carry Kevin and at Nick's internal dialogue about wondering whether or not he spelled Howie's last name correctly. :P
My gut instinct is telling me that Howie will pull through and that the whole ordeal will help to bring him and Nick closer together. I suppose I will have to wait and see where you take this though.
In response to your comment on my last review, I could totally see Howie trying to take his own life in a situation like this. Mostly because he feels as though he's destroyed the lives of the people that he loves. If it was only his life that was going to s*** then I couldn't see him going to such extremes.
Author's Response: Thanks! I had to throw a little comic relief in there, so I'm glad you liked those lines. Hopefully you're right. I agree with you; I think it's mainly the fact that he made Holden sick that's tearing him apart inside, but obviously Leigh and Nick too and the fact that they both seem to hate him. That's a lot to handle. Thanks again for the review! :)

Everything about this chapter seemed so realistic: Howie's behaviour, thoughts, what he said to Nick on the phone. Well done!! This means that you can't wait too long to post another chapter. I NEED to know whaat happens to Howie!!

It felt like a stretch to me to make Howie suicidal because, in real life, he seems like the last person I'd expect to ever consider doing something like this, but under these circumstances, who knows? Where to begin?? I suppose that I should start at the beginning. LOL First, I was somewhat reluctant to give this story a chance simply because of the "slash" content. However, I read the prequel and I have to say that you did an excellent job at portraying Nick and Howie's emotions/behaviours/thoughts, etc. Now on to this story (and to this chapter in particular)! OMG! I am honestly trying to imagine what I would do if I were in Leigh's position. I can't even fathom being in such a heart-wrenching situation. Poor Holden! I wonder how this will translate in terms of Nick. I have a feeling that if you've already gone this far that you will take it to the next level and have Nick be infected as well. To make a long story short, I am now fully invested in this story and I can't wait for the next update!!

I read this chapter on my phone while I was waiting at the car dealership, so I wasn't able to review right away. Anyways, I just wanted to say that you did an excellent job of making this chapter very "real". I think that you were dead on with Leigh's reaction and subsequent behaviour. If I was in her position, I probably would have lost my mind, but Leigh comes across as very reserved and you definitely did her justice in this chapter. I can't WAIT to see how it goes when Howie tells Nick. Can we say drama??
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review! I especially appreciate hearing that it seemed "real" to you. I don't know much about Leigh, but she seems very nice, and she and Howie seem to have a great marriage in real life, so I couldn't imagine her completely flying off the handle. I think she would just feel very betrayed and hurt by this situation, so that was what I tried to portray. The conversation between Howie and Nick is coming... stay tuned! :)
I was having an anxiety attack all the way through this chapter. I just wanted to scream at Nick to put on a condom and to keep his bloody finger away from everyone!! I like how you have presented all of the happiness in Nick's life. It will be an excellent contrast to the next chapter, which I'm sure is going to be highly emotional and devastating. Great job!!
Author's Response: LOL That was exactly the reaction I was hoping for! I needed one more chapter to fill before that conversation comes in the next chapter, so I thought, "Hey, why not show a possibly-infected Nick potentially infecting other people throughout the chapter?" Thanks for the review!!
Nick reacted exactly like I expected him to. My heart is breaking for poor Howie at this point. I know that Nick's behaviour was completely warranted given the news that Howie delivered, but I just kept waiting for Nick to lose some of his edge and realize that what Howie just did was incredibly hard for him. It's killing me to see their relationship falling apart like this! I better not have to wait ages to find out Nick's results!!! Excellent update!

It's sad to see them at odds with each other, but I love the angst too! You will not have to wait too long to find out Nick's results.
I'm still feeling more sorry for Howie than I am for Nick. The line where Nick mentioned that he wanted nothing to do with Howie ever again made me tear up a little. So sad!! Anyways, is it wrong that I hope that Nick is infected?? I just think that it would create some AMAZING drama. LOL I love that you have sucked me into this story.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you're feeling sorry for Howie. Nick might be overreacting a bit, but you can't blame him for being upset at finding out he might have an incurable disease. It's not wrong at all that you're hoping he's infected. It would definitely make for some amazing drama! ;)
This whole chapter was so believable: AJ being the hardest hit, Brian not wanting to know the truth, Kevin insisting that they pull out of the remaining shows, Howie tearing up on stage, Nick worrying about his own secret but feeling bad for Holden at the same time, and the fans speculating about what's going on. Well done! I can't wait to see where you take this!

Totally not surprised that Leigh took the kids and left. I would have done exactly the same thing in her situation. What kind of surprised me was Howie's thoughts about him and Nick possibly having some kind of a future together. Howie is clearly very conflicted at this point. On the one hand, he is devastated over the possibility of losing his wife. On the other hand, he is still carrying around this fantasy of him and Nick living happily ever after. I find his behaviour very believable as we are often unsure of what we want in times of despair. I'm not sure how I want this to all end up at the moment and I don't have any inkling of where you're going to take things from here. Thanks for keeping me guessing!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I think Howie IS very conflicted. Clearly he has some feelings for Nick and maybe men in general, but I do think he also still loves Leigh. Even if he is gay (and I don't know that he's totally comfortable admitting that yet), she's his best friend and the mother of his children, so he doesn't want to lose her. I'm glad you found his feelings believable. I drew inspiration from real life stories I've heard of middle-aged couples divorcing because one of them came out. It just goes to show that people can live in the closet, essentially living a lie, for a LONG time... and yet, I do think there's still some sort of love there, just maybe not a sexual/romantic love. It is definitely confusing! Thanks again for your thoughts!
I'm so glad that you posted an update!! I was starting to worry that I would never get to find out how this all ends. I'm thrilled that Lauren tested negative. I think that it will make the Nick/Lauren relationship more dramatic now that she's not sick and he is. Also, it's still breaking my heart that Nick is so mad at Howie. I'll catch up when I have more time to just sit and read! About Nick and Lauren, I agree, and that's what I was going for. I wanted their relationship to have a different dynamic from Howie and Leigh's, and I thought having her test negative would be more interesting than if she'd tested positive too. I think that was quite possibly one of the saddest opening lines to a chapter that I've ever read. My heart truly was breaking for Howie during this entire chapter. I can totally imagine him watching Kevin's happy family and falling apart on the inside. I wonder what happens that makes things even worse ... Leigh asks him for an official divorce, the media gets wind of the fact that both Howie and Nick have tested positive .... hmmmmmm.
P.S. Super glad that you posted an update to this story! How is the house hunt going?

Between that, work/school, and life in general, I have been incredibly busy the last month or so, which is why I've fallen so far behind on your story and all fanfic!
