Leigh is just so amazing; she handles herself with such grace and dignity. The fact that she can still be compassionate towards Howie is endearing. I've always thought that Howie made a good choice when he married Leigh, and I think that you've got her character down pat. Next to Kristin, she's probably my favourite BSB wife.

Now, I can only assume that you brought up her declinging health for a reason. I really hope that nothing happens to Leigh! If she ends up being the only casualty of this story, I will burst into tears!! (Just an FYI).

Author's Response: I agree about Leigh! She seems so classy in real life, and she obviously loves Howie. I think she still loves him in this story, even though he's hurt her, and that's why she has stayed compassionate and supportive of him. Thanks for the review!

Yessssssss! I said that Brian would go after him!! Didn't I?! Haha Also, thank you for not making Brian be a massive dick!! Seriously though, he reacted as I predicted that he would. For all of his high and mighty bs that he spews, I really do believe that Brian would want Nick to be happy no matter what. They've drifted apart, but not to the extent that Brian would begrudge Nick a meaningful relationship. However, I do think that Brian made a valid point about Nick settling for Howie because he can't see himself with an HIV negative person. Now, I can see Nick considering Brian's words to the point where he realizes that Lauren is who he truly wants to be with. I don't think that Howie and Nick will be together at the end of this - I'm laying out my prediction now. 😛

Finally, the bit with Leighanne had my in stitches! Sadly, that's exactly how that scenario would have played out. She WILL have an issue once she realizes that Nick's words were true and I really and truly hope that Brian tells her to go f*** herself! For once, he needs to stay true to what he believes all by himself; without his wifey butting her nose in where she doesn't belong.

Author's Response: You totally called it! I agree; I don't always agree with Brian's views, but I think he has a good heart and would support Nick in this situation. I loved having it be him who went after Nick because I think Nick needed to feel that support and understanding from him. Can't comment on your other predictions right now, but I love that you're laying them out there! :) Thanks!!

First, I will NOT be watching that video. Eww!! LOL

Second, I'm totally not surprised that Nick didn't say "I love you" back. There's no doubt in my mind that he loves Howie; he loves him just the same as he loves the rest of the fellas - as a brother.

Third, I'm also not surprised that Howie is rejecting his liver transplant. The poor guy; he just can't catch a break. So, in that vein of thought, I will reiterate my previous prediction that he's not going to make it to the end of the story.

Finally, I have to commend you for the transition of Nick and Howie's relationship. It seems totally forced now (at least from Nick's end). I've enjoyed the progression; very realistic.

P.S. Nick reads fan fic. I'm sure of it. Hell, I would put money on it in Vegas! Haha

Author's Response: Thanks! I think you hit the nail on the head with what you said about the way Nick loves Howie. That's something I have struggled with in this story, because I was willing to go for the full-on slash/romantic relationship IF I could make it seem realistic, but it's Nick that has always held me back. I could totally see Howie as a closeted gay man who is secretly in love with Nick, but it's always been harder for me to see Nick having romantic feelings for Howie, and I think it shows in the conflict that has come up throughout the second half of this story. I'm glad it seems realistic to you. You know, it wouldn't surprise me if Nick had read fanfic, but the only reason I question if he actually has is because he was asked about it once (I think it was in an interview with Perez Hilton?), and he seemed to think it was all sex stuff (visuals, except he didn't use that word). KEVIN was the one who knew that people have them hook up with each other in fanfics, which makes me think he's definitely read some LOL. For Nick's mental health, I honestly hope he doesn't read all the shit we write about him!

"Nick placed his hand up in a gesture to stop, “Don’t worry about that. I guess I just wanted you guys to witness it. If all of you were standing beside me, none of you would have actually been watching.” He waited for a second before continuing, “I know that sounds stupid but…I just wanted you all to be my family.”" - That line killed me just a little on the inside. Even if Nick didn't actually utter those words, I think they were dead on. Well done! I'm looking forward to your next story (although I did notice that Brian and AJ will not be featured in it ... damn. LOL)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm glad you felt like Nick would have said something like that.I do too. And yes, you'll see if you start reading the new one, that for it to work, it wouldn't make sense for them all to be there. Brian is in the first chapter though lol AJ might make an appearance later on as well!

I really enjoyed all of the references to Kevin's dad in this chapter. I'm sure he was an amazing man in real life, and I can't even imagine how Kevin felt losing him at such a young age. I don't know what I would do without my dad!

I think that Kevin did a pretty damn good job at being a father figure for Nick during their little exchange. Something tells me that he's going to have to fill that role even more as the story behind Nick's stalker comes out.

Author's Response: It seems like Kevin's dad was a special guy. My died a while ago as well, so it's really easy for me to relate to him in that sense. Kevin tries his hardest with that boy sometimes it works but sometimes... lol we shall see!

I had to bite my lip at the thought of Howie trying to sound gangsta. Good Lord!! LOL I found the imagery of both Kevin and Nick being too tall for the beds to be super sweet. As much as they fight, the two of them have a lot of in common ... they just don't realize it at this stage of their lives.

Author's Response: I agree! I think the reason the two of them tend to fight is because they are so similar. And yes I chuckled too at the very thought of Howie trying to sound gangsta lol Thanks for the review!

It kills me to think about the fact that Nick's family is so dysfunctional. Jane ... just ... ugh! I can totally see Kevin being super stressed out during the early days of their career. You did an excellent job of portraying his thoughts. It must have been brutal for him being the oldest and always being required to "set an example" for everyone else. Also, I loved that the interviewer couldn't remember his name!! One more thing ... the fact that there will be very little Brian and AJ in this story makes me sad. :P

Author's Response: I know! Jane irks me to no end but so does his father & most of his siblings. I give Kevin a lot of credit. I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't have run in the other direction after being paired up with two children and Lou! I'm glad he stuck it out though. As for AJ & Brian, they are my Kevin. & Howie to most. I find them both really difficult to write so made things easy on myself and omitted them this time around lol thanks for the review!

I'm finally getting around to reading this latest installment. Life has been crazy with appointments, work, and summer socializing. Ugh!

I loved the sense of normalcy that you created in this chapter. I could actually feel Kevin starting to relax (which is a major accomplishment, I might add!). It was perfect the way that it ended with Nick having been potentially abducted by his psycho stalker. I can't wait to see where you take this!

Author's Response: Aww my last review before I leave for vacation, woot! I don't know how much relaxing Kevin ever did back during that time. He always seems like a huge ball of stress. I'm so glad he appears much more relaxed these days. Of course it probably doesn't help if a psycho stalker kidnaps one of your friends, the whole staying calm thing. lol Sorry, Kevin! :O)

I liked the back story about why Kevin sometimes tends to come across as "harsh" and "uncaring". Linking it back to his dad's battle with cancer and the fact that it was hidden from him makes it totally believable.

I was kind of feeling like Kevin at the end of this chapter. As much as I want Nick to open up and discuss what happened with his uncle, I totally don't want to hear it at the same time. *shudders*

As much as I'm loving this story I'm missing Brian and AJ! Hahaha! I think you should write them in ... just for kicks. :P Seriously, another great update!

Author's Response: Aww I do kind of mention Brian from time to time. He made a flashback appearance in this chapter at least. As far as AJ, he just doesn't fit in this one. I'll make it up to him some other time. lol

I loved the interaction between Howie and his "mommy" in this chapter. Too cute! I also liked that Kevin admitted to being a momma's boy - totally true (in my opinion at least). FYI, I'm dying to know what Howie knows about Nick's situation that he's refusing to divulge.

Author's Response: Oh, Kevin is SUCH a momma's boy! You can totally tell! lol As far as the Howie/Nick thing...You might find that tidbit out in the next chapter or two.

So, someone is after Nick? Who could it be? Jane? Some crazy hit-man that Jane hired to take out her son so that she can have all of his money? Sooo many possibilities! - LOL

Author's Response: You know it's Leighanne! It's always Leighanne!! Even if she didn't exist in their word yet, she's trying to kill Nick and ruin everything as usual! :O)

I find it hilarious that Kevin and Howie don't have their own "mobile phone" to use. Bahahahaha! It's crazy how much times have changed in just a few years.

I really enjoyed how you made Howie the "father figure" in this chapter. It was a nice change from it always being Kevin. I wonder if the two of them actually did trade off in terms of that role when it came to Nick?

Way to go Kevin! - It took him long enough to admit that they knew about Donald. Now that it's out in the open, I have a feeling that things are about to get interesting.

Author's Response: You know interesting story. When I was writing this, I actually had them all having cell phones but then I remembered the year and figured I'd better double check how popular they were and that's when I realized they were kind of brand new at the time and HUGE! I can see Howie totally having one but not always bringing it because of it's size. Beepers/pagers were popular back then more-so than phones. LOL I had to rework that into this story.

I have a feeling Howie was very much like a father figure to Nick as well as Kevin, just based on things he has said about Nick in interviews. He has said that Nick would go home with him on some of the breaks so I would imagine the two of them forged this big brother/little brother relationship that didn't play out in the public's eye as much as Brian and Nick's relationship did.

Yes, interesting is a good word! lol thanks, Erika!

I FINALLY have Internet, so I'm able to post a review. Woo Hoo!

The whole notion of Nick having a deranged family member stalking him who may or may not have done "things" to him as a child made me shudder. While I'm loving the suspense and the added element of danger, the subject matter is super creepy.

FYI, the whole farting on the pizza comment made me bust out laughing. I think my husband may think that I'm crazy. :P

Author's Response: Woohoo! Glad you got your internet back! Yeah, always a slippery slope with this kind of subject matter. Don't worry too much though. Sometimes its just the act of throwing an idea out there that creates the suspense. Hope it doesn't deter you from reading on. Thanks, for the review!

Every time you make a reference to Nick's less-than-stellar parents my heart aches. I would not be surprised if his dad had actually said something just like that to him at one point. Brutal!

The Kevin/Nick moment was super sweet. I enjoyed how Kevin was hoping that Howie would step in and save him. Poor guy!

I have never been fishing either. It seems super boring ... although my husband really enjoys it.

Author's Response: I know, I have a feeling he has heard that before. I can kind of picture his mom saying it more so than his dad but either way. I have never even wanted to fish ever. I don't know why I always end up having them fish and camp in my stories. I haven't ever done that one either. LOL

The imagery of Nick's pager and his request for the giant cell phone made me bust a gut! I can remember when my friend's dad got a car phone and we all thought that it was the coolest thing ever!

I liked that Howie and Nick kinda called Kevin out for being so grumpy all of the time. In the early days, I just wanted to reach out and be like: "Kev, it's okay to have a good time once and a while!" - He always looked so serious back then.

Author's Response: I know! Those cell phones back in the day were huge! LOL I agree with you about Kevin being so serious and grumpy all the time. He used to always have this constipated look on his face. He seems so much more relaxed now. It's nice to see!
