Summary: Once upon a Time Kevin didn't want anything to do with a 15 year old he was stuck having to work with everyday. Then things happened which forced him to get to know that kid a little bit better. Sometimes we all need to grow up and realize that things aren't always like they seem. A coming of age story for the oldest member of the group.

I like how the suspense is heating up. Of course Nick would think that the psycho is just having a hard time and needs someone to be there for him. Nick always has struck me as the type to give most people the benefit of the doubt ... probably why he's been burned so many times by so many different people.
On a side note, why do you keep putting marshmallows in your stories?? Seriously, the image of someone eating a marshmallow makes me shudder!! Ewwww! LOL
Author's Response: I write about things I don't know like camping, fishing and I have never in my life had a S'More lol
I think Nick is way too trusting of everyone, including his fans. I think that's why it's always so easy to envision some of these scenarios happening to him. I think he's gotten a little better with age, but even still, sometimes I'm like "Why are you telling everyone where you are?" LOL

I really felt for Kevin in this chapter. The way that you describes his escalating level of panic was great! I like how he came to the realization that the five of them are "brothers" at the end. In the early days, I can totally see Kevin feeling exactly the way that you described - about AJ and Nick being just co-workers and nothing more. I'm sure that it took him a bit longer than the others to adopt all of the other guys as family.
Author's Response: Thanks! I agree, I feel like it probably took Kevin the longest to accept the younger two especially. I still feel like Brian hasn't done that yet, but maybe eventually LOL I still couldn't imagine being paired up with little kids to work with. I'm not sure if I could have done it. Especially hyper kids!

Nick actually brought up some good points in this chapter. Kevin and Howie want him to grow up, but they do treat him like a child that needs to be looked after. I was proud of Nick for being able to articulate that point in such a meaningful way. I think that young Nick was a lot smarter and more intuitive than the rest of the guys were willing to give him credit for.
I loved the fact that Kevin knew that he was lying about Mandy. Of course Nick wouldn't tell them that he had actually told Don where he was staying, but I have a feeling that he might wish that he had been more honest as things move along.
Author's Response: I agree with you 100% I think Nick in general is a lot smarter and observant than anyone gave him credit for & I do think the boys did & still kind of do coddle to him lol its cute though. Yes, lying never a good thing. Thanks, Erika!

Right off the bat I noticed that Howie winked twice in this chapter. LOL - That cracked me up! I still don't know if his winking is intentional or not (in real life).
Second, of course Nick looks up to you, Kevin!! Duh!! For someone who acts all responsible and mature, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. That being said, the ending bromance moment between him and Nick was super "awww worthy."
That's crappy about your computer dying. :( Hopefully, you can sort out a new one soon. I hate trying to type anything on my iPhone/iPad because I'm convinced that autocorrect is the devil.
Out of curiosity, why did you think that no one liked the last chapter?? I thought that it was pretty damn good! ;)
Author's Response: I also wonder about Howie and his winking and yes, Kevin is not so much dumb, more self unaware lol autocorrect is the worst! And as far as the last chapter, I gage it by previous responses and last chapter quite a few regulars didn't review and when people did, they were slower than usual. It's just an intuition thing I suppose, but thank you. I'm glad you liked it! :-)

Great update! I really enjoyed Kevin's reflections in this chapter. I would be willing to bet that Kevin did feel a lot of annoyance and resentment towards Nick in the beginning. It's also very plausible that he was embarrassed to be in a group with a "kid".
As much as I dislike Lou, I can totally see him telling Kevin that HE was the one who could be easily replaced. Let's face it, Nick was (and is) the boy who brings in the most fans and, therefore, the most money for the group. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, without Nick there would be no BSB.
Looking forward to the next chapter. :P
Author's Response: I know I would feel that way if I were in a group with someone almost 9 years younger than me. There's no doubt that Nick was meant to be the money maker behind Backstreet. I'm sure they all realized it too. That had to be hard on them. I agree without Nick there really could be no BSB.

Sorry for the lateness of this review. I have been crazy busy lately. Anyways, I loved Nick's admission at the end of this chapter. I'm curious to see how Kevin responds and if he will be able to maintain his new "keeping things level and calm" motto.
On another note, I like how you keep inserting flashbacks to Kevin's childhood and the relationship that he had with his brothers and his dad. It definitely brings a sense of depth to the story and to Kevin's character (something that you don't usually see).
